Warnings for this chapter: dissociation, extremely scattered thoughts, and the r-slur. Only once.

"AKIHO!" Jin blinks once, suddenly thrust back into reality. She raises her head and glances around. Irritation–and fear–surround her.

Tojo Misaki glares up at Jin with her hands on her hips. "Get out of my way Akiho, you freak." Jin doesn't make any move to get out of the girl's way before glancing around. She was standing in the middle of the barely filled hallway.

"Oh, sorry," Jin says as she takes a step back–her voice sounds wrong–and starts walking again. Misaki scoffs in offense and stomps her foot.

"What are you even doing here? This is UA!" Misaki asks angrily. Jin is pulled back into her suffocating thoughts and doesn't hear the question.

Jin feels herself come back to reality when Misaki grabs her elbow and roughly pulls her back. Her notebook falls to the ground at the sudden yank and makes her turns her head.

"I asked you a question! Don't ignore me!" Misaki practically whines. Jin feels–this is irritation, right?–something bubble in her chest before fading back to numbness–is she numb? Or tired?–while she tilts her head.

"Sorry, I wasn't listening. What did you ask?" Jin feels a smile form on her face, but can't shake the feeling that it isn't hers. She bends down and watches as her hand grabs the notebook.

"You're such a retard–" shouldn't I feel offended? That's a horrible thing to call someone "–asked you why you're here. This is UA, a place for normal people, not for freaks like you." Jin blinks again, head feeling light. The suffocating thoughts start to creep forward.

"The Support Course entrance exams. I'm here for the Support Course entrance exams." Jin finally focuses her thoughts enough to answer Misaki's question. The thoughts come back full force and she starts drifting–am I walking? It doesn't feel like–away, towards her destination. She has an exam to take.

"The color purple technically doesn't exist."

She–she has an exam to take. An exam to pass... please let her pass...

Akiho Jin has always wanted to help people. Out of the very little she remembers of her children, she knows this was always something she wanted to do. She wasn't fit to be a hero, though. To pretend that she was hero material would just ruin her. But, that didn't mean there wasn't other ways to help people.

Being a hero support engineer was one way. Help those fighting in the front lines by giving them better protection and better ways of helping society, it was more behind the scenes, but Jin is best behind the scenes. Not only did she want to be an engineer, but she also wanted to be an information support for heroes–which her Quirks will make it easier for her.

So, she studied–when she was able and when she wasn't struggling with dealing with the side effects of her Quirks–and she trained, and she practiced, and she learned. It wasn't easy, by any means, but Jin worked hard and didn't give up.

Jin is the outcast, the recluse. The freak. The girl who is never really there. The girl with no emotions. The sociopath. Yeah, she is an outcast, and a recluse, but a freak? Some clinically insane girl? An apathetic sociopath? No. She isn't that–she hopes she isn't–but, she doesn't care about what people think about her. All Jin cares about is achieving her dreams. Everything else is put on the back burner for after she achieved her dreams–or until she can't ignore it anymore.

UA High School is the best school in the country for heroics and heroic related careers. It's incredibly expensive, but her parents don't pay her any attention to the point that she easily took money from their account to pay for all of her fees. Jin knew she was going to pass the Support Course entrance exams, not being arrogant or anything, but she passed the mock test. And with her near perfect memory, Jin has her blueprints for the invention exam completely memorized.

So, yes. She's still the outcast, the recluse. Has a not so good home situation and a not so good school situation, but Jin's well on her way to becoming a hero support engineer and an information support. Jin will survive. Nothing's changed–she hopes not. Change always brought bad news for her–and she'll only get better.

If only life would agree. Jin is tired of being fucked over by it.

Hey! Hope you like the new story! This is going to be a bit... dark? I don't think that's the right word for what I have in mind, but just know if things do get dark, I did say it will...

I'm very tired, so this chapter might be horrible, but oh well. If I have a better idea after getting some sleep, I'll rewrite it. Probably not, but whatever.

Hope you all like the chapter! Bye.
