A/N: There's a quick poll up for Shinobi on Board for the pairing. Then after Ch 33 goes up there'll be another poll for my RWBY story dealing with the pairing, then when I start Season 3 here. I'll put up a new story poll. But I also plan on doing a few Eps of s2 of Assemble here before going into s3.

I may also have to start s3 of Assemble as that's when the Inhumans and Ms. Marvel's are introduced. Kinda wished they waited to show USM AFTER EMHs ended as it would have made things easier.

Chapter L: The Final Showdown.

Last Time.

BOOM!

The cannon then fell as everything caught fire.

"What happened?" Thor asked as everyone met up.

"Tony happened," Cap replied as Naruto walked beside Widow who crossed her arms.

"Looks like he happened all over the place."

"Does this mean I finally get to lead?" Hulk asked with a smile before they heard Iron Man.

"You'd have to talk to Cap about that."

They turned to see Tony in just his bodysuit sitting down rubbing his head. "Nice work, rookie. Looking for a job?" Cap asked as they walked over. "We got an open spot." He held his hand out as Tony grabbed it and pulled himself up.

"I'll think about it. I hear you guys have potential."

"Uh, hey? Sorry to break up this bromance, but has anyone got an idea where Skull went?" Hawkeye asked, looking around before hearing him laugh.

"Where I belong, Hawkeye."

They looked back to see Red Skull with just shoulder armor on over a bodysuit before holding up the Tesseract. "And where I belong…" He tailed off putting it in his arc reactor. "Is everywhere!"

A beam shot out before pulling armor to Skull and reformed his armor with blue glowing lines. A yellow force field came off him sending everyone flying back. Before it formed a large head that looked like Skull's who was laughing. It then disappeared as the real Skull smiled as he glowed brightly and started to fly up into the sky and disappeared with a sonic boom once reaching the atmosphere.

"Shit!" Naruto cursed looking up as the clouds cleared showing the night sky.

"Cosmic Skull? That's 'end of the universe' bad." Tony said, looking up as well.

Now.

Avengers.

"Think, Cabal!" Cap yelled over at the villains. The Red Skull, your so-called leader, abandoned you. And we just cleaned your clocks. How about you avoid further humiliation and stand down?"

"You think we'll just let you haul us off to the vault?" M.O.D.O.K. said as he stared at them.

"Right now, I'm more concerned about the guy running around with my armor and the most powerful artifact in the known universe," Tony said, groaning as he held his chest while sitting down.

"The Tesseract! Without it, this entire place will collapse!" M.O.D.O.K. said as the weapon started to fall apart with the Hulk running over to try and stop it from falling over on them.

"Hyperion!"

Hyperion flew up as the ground gave way having Widow grab the ledge as a crevice formed.

"Widow!" Naruto dived down and grabbed her before moving to an end and then wall jumped back up.

"Skull! I'll crush his shriveled red cranium!" M.O.D.O.K. yelled out as Tony looked over.

"Sounds like we all want to bring the Skull down, M.O.D.O.K. Maybe that gives us a mutual goal." M.O.D.O.K. frowned before creating a portal and had him and the others leave. And so much for the spirit of cooperation."

BOOM!

The weapon exploded before a portal brought the Avengers into their training room where the Cabal stood. "This is awkward. I didn't have time to clean up or anything." Tony joked before Dracula spoke.

"Fool! You teleported them too?"

"There was no time to reduce the transport field, Dracula! Or would you rather I'd left half of your miserable corpse behind?"

"And why here?" Hyperion asked, floating in the air.

"We need resources to carry on."

"You would rely on them?" Attuma asked M.O.D.O.K. who turned to him. "Attuma will get his revenge!"

"There's no way we'd team up with the likes of you," Hawkeye said before Naruto turned.

"Maybe we would."

"Check his head. Must've hit it hard." Hulk spoke, punching his palm.

"No, listen," Tony spoke up looking over his shoulder at the others. "This is a good time for all of us to try and work together."

"Wrong!" Hyperion yelled, raising a fist. "It's a good time for the Avengers to fall." He then shot his beams out, having both teams start to fight each other.

Cap and Naruto picked up Tony and ran out as Black Widow jumped on M.O.D.O.K. "Ha! That nanosecond-processor brain of yours could easily have teleported the Cabal and left us. What's your game, M.O.D.O.K.?" She asked before hitting a button and had then disappeared into a portal.

In the hall, the others ran down as the lights flickered. "Glad you rejoined the team, Tony. If you've got a game plan, now's the time." Cap said as Tony looked up at him.

"We have to work with the Cabal, Cap. It's the only chance we have against the Skull."

"I've tried teaming up with the enemy before. It's a surefire way to deep-six you and your team."

Naruto then looked over at that. "Yet who beamed us out of there and saved our skin? They know the power of the cube and what that means in the hands of someone who just tried to kill them."

"Starting to feel the shrapnel." Tony groaned as they got to the med bay.

"J.A.R.V.I.S., activate support systems." Captain America ordered before putting Tony on an operating table. "Tony's chest unit is damaged."

"Replacement parts already prepped." The A.I said as a lighted device came down and had a shock wave go off.

"Oh, man! That's better." Tony said as he jolted up as Cap looked at him.

"Now, to get you into a spare suit."

"Sorry, Cap. I used every suit when we attacked Skull's base."

"Iron or no, you're still the man."

"Sure. I'll go all billionaire philanthropists on their butts." Tony said with a shrug as the two left before Naruto yelled.

"Billionaire genius philanthropist! You'll think of something."

Tony glanced up at the arms as he stood off the table. "J.A.R.V.I.S., I may have found something to wear after all.

He then brought a wire and connected it to his bodysuit before using clamps and arms in each room to attack the Cabal. He caught Attuma and put him in front of a reactor until he passed out, had UV lights come on for Dracula, and froze Hyperion.

"No offense, Sir, but you're stealing my..."

"I believe the term is 'shtick.'" Tony interrupted his A.I. as he looked at the various screens in front of him. "That was fun, but, J.A.R.V.I.S., can you get to work on something a little more outdoorsy?"

"Already done, Sir," J.A.R.V.I.S. replied as satellite dishes came out of the tower.

In the room with Tony, Captain America and Naruto ran back in to see Hulk throw Hyperion in a cell on a screen. "What's the status of the Cabal?" Cap asked before Hawkeye replied.

"Fishface, uber-dweeb, and the prince of dorkness are on lockdown. We lost track of the flying bobblehead. I guess operation "super-villain team-up" is on hold."

"Split up and search the tower. We need to find M.O.D.O.K."

"I already ran a full sweep, Cap," Tony replied. "He's not in the tower. Neither is Widow."

"They're both gone? Where?" Naruto asked, looking up as Falcon typed on the computer.

"Scanning. But teleportation beams are tough to track."

"I'll locate Widow, Sam. Right now, we have a bigger problem." Tony spoke up before Hawkeye crossed his arms.

"What's bigger than finding a lost teammate?"

"The Skull is attacking New York," Tony replied as they watched a video of Skull attacking from a portal with large black robots that had guns mounted on their shoulders.

Thor then picked up Mjölnir. "He possesses the Tesseract. He has access to countless portals, cutting through multiple dimensions."

Captain America picked up his shield before speaking. "We'll send the team out to take him down. Avengers, assemble!" Cap stopped as a beep went off.

"He's also attacking Europe and Asia and South America. Every major continent, in fact."

"He's everywhere."

"Okay, I admit it," Hawkeye said, looking at the screens. "That's bad."

Tony then typed on a holo keyboard before speaking. "Operation "Earth's mightiest" is online. We've got clearance from across the globe to stop the Skull." Tony said as everyone went to a hoverbike with large jet engines then left. A few minutes went by before Tony spoke up. "Okay, avenge-lings, Jarvis and I are holding New York. You've been deployed worldwide. Roll call."

Cap then came up on a screen. "Sydney, Australia reporting in." Then Hawkeye came up.

"Rio, Brazil, check."

Hulk landing in Egypt came up. "I'm here. Too much sand."

"That'd be Cairo, Egypt, Hulk."

"Flying high over Hong Kong," Falcon spoke as he flew beside a jet.

"Greetings from Agnafit," Thor said, flying in Sweden.

"Stockholm, Thor. It hasn't been called "Agnafit" since the Norse age."

"Tokyo here," Naruto said, covered in red chakra. "Tony, what about Black Widow?"

"No word. If and when she shows up, I'm sticking her in Antarctica. So, everyone stays sharp and stays in contact. Skull thinks by splitting us up across the world, he can divide and conquer. But be clear, we may be separated, but the Avengers will never be divided."

Tony then brought up a video of Skull above the U.N. building. "So-called leaders of the Earth, I, the Cosmic Skull, now wield the power to match my ambition. Surrender to my eternal servitude! Any country that resists will cease to exist!"

"He's headed to Stockholm. "Thor, you're up."

Thor Sweden.

"How dare you attack the fair city of Agnafit! Have at thee!" Thor yelled at Skull as he appeared in front of him before throwing a lightning bolt.

Red Skull absorbed it and let it out, sending Thor flying.

Hawkeye.

"Watch it, Hawkeye. He's coming. Those Hydras might be empty armor, but they're a cosmic extension of Skull himself. He controls them like puppets." Tony told the archer as he and black jets came up to the armor suits.

"Maybe we can make him cry just a little when we break all his toys," Hawkeye replied as he shot several suits of armor into pieces. And started dodging blasts from Skull as he appeared behind the armor. "Definitely not… How I was picturing my first trip to Rio."

Hulk.

Hulk bounds around destroying the armor sets before hearing Tony. "Hulk, he's on his way."

"Hulk smash stupid, flying, Skull man!" Hulk yelled up as Skull appeared.

"How very eloquent," Skull said before creating a shield as Hulk jumped at him then sent him back. "The power of the universe is at my command! And still, you follow these worthless heroes. You should be worshiping me!" Skull yelled out as Tony watched from a screen.

Naruto.

Naruto melted the armor before dodging blasts from Skull and dashed around. "Is it me or is Skull losin' it?"

"The Tesseract is too much for any mortal. Soon, he'll lose every shred of vanity." Thor said over Naruto's earpiece as Naruto vaulted over a piece of a building as he landed on a rooftop.

"Skull, you can't control that much power. It's clouding your already deranged mind." Tony spoke up through a speaker nearby.

"I've never seen more clearly. To start a new world, I must burn the old one and its heroes to the ground. Such surefire precision! And yet, how can a hawk attack what it can't see?" Naruto saw Skull smile before hearing Hawkeye.

"My eyes! I'm blind!"

"(Sighs) The other bird," Skull said with a sigh. I'm reminded of the myth of Icarus. He flew too close to the sun, and his wings melted." Naruto heard Falcon scream from his earpiece as Skull continued. "What's the inscription? 'Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.'"

"Mjölnir! No!"

"It seems you are not worthy after all. An unbreakable shield. A thorn in my side for half a century. Do you know what happens when the unstoppable force meets the immovable object?" Naruto heard cracking before Hulk roared.

"You're making me angry!"

"Is it true, monster, that the madder you get, the stronger you become? Shall we find out?" Skull asked before hearing Hulk roar before he was hit in the stomach with an energy blast. "What if we stop you at the source?" Naruto saw another seal go over his seal, reminding him of first encountering Orochimaru.

"(Groan!)"

"But you Avengers must be so lonely. Let's reunite the team for their final moments, shall we?" Naruto then found himself with the others in New York before being dropped in Central Park. "Here, where it all began. Avengers, assemble. And perish!"

"Hey, everyone, just a quick F.Y.I. I'm blind as a bat." Hawkeye said missing his glasses and his eyes being pure white. "Does Hulk smell angrier than usual? Do I want to know what this looks like?"

"You don't. Trust me." Naruto spoke up as Falcon got on Hawkeye's bike and flew off with him.

"I'd planned on ripping you atom from atom, but I must confess a certain joy of seeing you torn apart by your teammate."

"This kind of thing happens way too often." Naruto groaned out holding his stomach.

"Tony, we need a plan," Cap said, holding a small section of his shield.

"How's this? You've got to subdue the Hulk. J.A.R.V.I.S., light a fire under it."

"Avengers, as one! Attack!" Cap yelled as a bigger Hulk with Red eyes clapped sending them back before the Cabal minus M.O.D.O.K. dropped down.

"Greetings, losers."

"Tony, tell me you're not that stupid," Cap said over his comms as Naruto pulled his tonfas out.

"Oh, he most certainly is," Hyperion spoke with a smirk.

"Tony, a Cosmic Skull and a rampaging Hulk weren't bad enough? You had to let the Cabal out of their cages too?"

"Hey, desperate times call for one of Tony's genius ideas, remember?" Tony asked as Naruto took several steps forward at the villains.

"Easy for you to say. You're not here." Naruto said as the villains disappeared in a cloud of dust.

"Okay. That's just creepy. Where are they?" Falcon asked, looking around before hearing Skull and glanced up.

"You have lasted longer than I thought. I shall show you mercy by destroying you here and now!" Skull was then hit with a red laser. "(Groan!) What? Who would dare?" He looked back to see Dracula flying towards him.

"The Cabal dares!"

Dracula punched him as Hyperion threw Attuma and hit him. "You have no honor, Skull."

"And you will pay for this betrayal!" Hyperion yelled, punching Skull away.

"You flatter yourselves. I shed you like so much dead skin." Skull taunted them as he gained his bearings and caught them with energy arms and threw them on the ground.

"This is our chance to eliminate them once and for all," Hyperion said, seeing the Avengers fend off the Hulk.

"Fools! First the Skull, then the Avengers." Attuma yelled, clenching his fist.

"Okay, Avengers. The Cabal bought you some time." Tony said as Naruto flipped over Hulk.

"You knew this would happen."

"Fighting each other is what the Cabal does best, Cap. All right, here's part two. Subdue the Hulk. Thor, knock a little Asgardian sense into him. And Cap, remind the Hulk who he is."

"Stand down, Avenger! That is an order!" Cap yelled at Hulk as Thor hit him in the head. "I said, STAND DOWN SOLDIER!"

That woke up Hulk and had him shrink to normal size. "Huh? Cap?"

"I can handle Hulk now. You deal with the Skull."

"Amusing, that this entire attack amounts to exactly nothing," Skull said, grabbing the flying Avengers.

"Hawk, hang on!"

Skull was then uppercut by Hulk. "Hello!"

"But I turned you into a mindless beast!" Skull yelled as Hulk grabbed him by the leg.

"But even you can't touch his heart," Cap said as Hulk threw him down into the ground. "And his heart is 100% Avenger."

"Hey, guys, I've got someone on the line who wants to add to the fun," Tony spoke up in their earpiece.

"Sounds like I'm missing a good time." Widow said over the comms as Naruto looked up.

"Widow, where are you? Wait, don't tell me It's…"

"Classified/Classified." Naruto and Widow spoke at the same time.

"A little private time with M.O.D.O.K. at a top-secret S.H.I.E.L.D. facility and I got all the intel I needed. There's a way to disrupt the Skull's portals. I'm uploading the intel to your data cards now. The processor will reconfigure Hawkeye's disrupter arrowheads." She said as Hawkeye grabbed an arrow and put it up to the hookup on the side.

"Falcon, get me up there."

"I thought you couldn't see."

Hawkeye then drew his bow and stood. "Say when."

They flew up to Skull before Falcon yelled.

"When!"

Hawkeye shot his arrow and hit the portal behind Skull, having it disappear. "What? Impossible!" Skull yelled, opening another. Only for another arrow to hit it. "You did this!"

Cap then tackled Skull who looked at the piece of the shield. "What? You think that's the first triangular shield I've ever had?"

He then punched Skull to the ground, having the ones with super strength hold Skull down. "I've got his arm!"

"Of course, you do, weakling. The legs are much harder to hold." Attuma yelled, holding one leg.

"Your soul is mine, Skull. For your betrayal, you shall forever be a slave to the King of darkness." Dracula said leaning down to the Skull's face.

Only for Captain America to pull him up. "That's not how we do things."

"If this is my end, it will also be yours!" Skull yelled glowing brightly before shooting a beam into the air.

"Avengers!"

"I wouldn't have hesitated to bite you. And still, you saved me." Dracula said to the war hero who glanced at him. "Why?"

"Because that is how we do things."

"You think you've stopped me? You've merely prolonged your agony. I've evolved beyond the need…" Skull said as he started to float before his armor broke. "No! No!" The Tesseract then came out before seeing M.O.D.O.K. flying down with Tony. "You? How?"

"You should never have double-crossed me. I gave you that armor. I can take it away."

"So can I," Tony said as the armor flew to him before he sniffed under his arm. "Whoo! Next time you borrow my clothes, can you run them to the dry cleaner before you give them back?"

"Stark and I needed you to focus all your energy on the Cabal and the Avengers," M.O.D.O.K. explained floating beside both groups as Skull fell to the ground.

"That allowed M.O.D.O.K. here to get past your defenses and use his technopathic abilities to remove my armor," Tony said as Skull grabbed the cube and flew in a purple bubble.

"This is the power! The armor is nothing! I'm going to obliterate you all. Starting with Iron Man." He then created portals behind everyone that tried sucking them in. "Nothing is beyond me!"

"Foolish would-be tyrant! You've already forgotten something!" Thor said before throwing Mjölnir at Skull hitting him back and dropping the cube before both were sucked in a portal.

"What now? We're gonna duke it out?" Naruto asked before the seal on his stomach disappeared.

"As the new leader of the Cabal, I say the Avengers will be destroyed... Another day. M.O.D.O.K. spoke before creating a portal and disappeared with the Cabal.

Avengers Tower.

"Hey, everyone, I can see again!" Hawkeye spoke as everyone but Widow sat in the living room tired. "Yeah, I'm thrilled too."

"Look, I know I'll regret feeding the Tony Stark ego machine, but nicely done. You led the team from here without your armor. You finagled the Cabal to work with us. That's real leadership." Cap said to Iron Man.

"Just between us, there's no better role model than Captain America," Tony said with a smile. "But all the leadership in the world means squat without a good team. And we have the best team in this dimension."

"Naruto who was sitting at the bar turned to Tony at that. "When you're done with the pep talk, answer me one thing. If you weren't the one who convinced no-neck to break ranks, then what's Widow been up to? Where is she?"

"You're dating her."

"Yeah but that spy training is a habit," Naruto said before sighing. "There's still much she won't say to me when it's her job we're talking about."

Tri-Carrier.

Black Widow stood with Fury and Maria Hill as they looked at multiple screens. "The Skull is in one of those dimensions, Director Fury. And so is the Tesseract. Let's hope we find him first. Before someone worse does." She finished putting her arms behind her back.

Unknown Location.

On a meteor in space, Skull knelt before a large tall muscular man who has purple skin and wearing a purple bodysuit with a gold helmet, gloves, belt, and boots. He's also holding the Tesseract Cube.

"Master… It is as you desired, Thanos."
