Here's a bonus chapter again this week. Wanted to finish this part of the story.
Vacations are coming to an end and there are a lot of things that are going to change
marmalademay: Draco is antagonistic because he's going to be an anti hero and also it makes for great banter *heart eyes* But mostly it's because he's at war with himself, there is a lot he has to work through before he can discover who he really is! I hope you enjoy the way this progresses! Thank you so much for leaving a review!
That evening Hermione had a lot to say to her mother. From telling her about the various initiatives and research and the magical development that was being done. She was fascinated. She spoke about a lot that Giano had told her and then about other such careers that she had read about. Helen however noticed how many times Hermione used Draco in her conversation. It was all and Draco even told me this and Draco mentioned that and Draco was saying. She smiled as she listened to her daughter and then after a while she said, "So how long have you and Draco been seeing each other…"
Hermione was caught off guard "what? mum… no… why would you think that… We're just friends… more like study partners…"
"Friends whom I don't hear all that much about… Am I right in guessing that neither Ron nor Harry no about him?"
Hermione was silent
"I'm your mother Hermione, you tell me everything and yet I've not heard the names Draco and Blaise before we met them… Why is that?"
"It's complicated mum… I… You would't understand…" Hermione said sadly
"Okay, fine… I agree that I don't understand a lot of things about the magical world you are suddenly a part of, but I do understand people… Now from what I can see, that boy is smitten with you and you seem just as smitten as he is… I think he is very charming man with a good upbringing and he seems to be nice boy… I also think that whatever reason you have for not telling Ron and Harry is very childish… If they are your best friends and they can't be happy for you then they really aren't your friends… However if you feel their reasons are not childish and are perfectly justified, then I think you need make a choice…"
"Why should I have to choose between someone I like and my friends! It's not fair…." Hermione said
"Why do you think those are the only two options 'mione?"
Hermione looked up at her mother confused
Helen smiled and continued "You are a smart girl 'mione, I'm sure there must be some way that you can figure out how to keep both without having to keep them secret…" With that Helen least Hermione's cabin and went into the Kitchen area to talk to the Chef.
Lost in thought Hermione found her way to the deck. Draco was sitting on the bow looking at the stars. She went and sat next to him. He smiled as she leaned her head on his shoulder.
"What's on your mind" he asked
"Nothing" She lied
"Well, there's something on my mind… " He said turning to face her "I like you 'mione but I don't think our worlds can collide just yet… With you-know-who back, I don't think it would be safe… especially for you…"
"You know I'd almost forgotten about it…" She said sighing
"I know… and I'm glad, but the coming year is going to be difficult… I will have to keep up appearances… Please don't hate me for it… " He said apologetically
"Never… Draco, whatever happens let's promise to trust each other…" She said
Draco smiled at her and nodded he lifted her chin and they shared a sweet kiss. Just as Draco began to deepen the kiss there was a shuffling nose and broke apart hastily and pretended to look at the stars
Blaise came and sat on the other side of Draco
"I saw that…" Blaise said cheekily
"Shut up" Hermione snapped playfully
"So the Gryffindor's princess and the Slytherin Prince… This ought to be interesting…" Blaise said looking at the moon reflecting in the sea
"No…" Draco said… "it's going to be epic…"
"It's going change the world…" Hermione said as Draco took her hand and squeezed it . They both looked deeply into each other's eyes…

The rest of the vacation was a lot of fun as the boys hung out with the Grangers. After a couple of days Draco even managed to work up the courage to ask Richard if he could take Hermione on a date. The two of them ended back in Draco's room at Blaise's villa where they spent most of the evening snogging and cuddling and discussing possibilities of how to research Draco's lineage.
On the last day, Helen and Richard offered to cook a meal the muggle way for the boys at Blaise's villa and everyone helped out. Blaise discovered he quite enjoyed the muggle way of cooking. It was as he put it therapeutic. It was a beautiful night. The breeze was warm and the atmosphere was light. It was the calm before the storm and both Draco and Hermione knew it.
Draco promised to drop Hermione back to the hotel later. Helen and Richard had gone on their own date and the unlikely trio as Blaise had christened them, was playing exploding snap.
"So what happens once we're back at school" Blaise asked
"You stand guard at broom closets…" Draco said cheekily and dodged as Hermione swatted him
"Are you ever going to tell Potty and Weasel? Can I be there to see their heads explode?" Blaise continued
"No, and not yet… Draco still has to go home and figure out what's happening…" Hermione said. She almost sounded scared
"You know, even last time, a majority of the war happened in Britain. I could obliviate your parents and we could all just hide out here till all this blows over…" Blaise joked
"Tempting as that sounds… Harry is my best friend… practically a brother… so no…" Hermione said "And I win! Omg! I can't believe it, I never win…"

On the flight back home Helen watched as Hermione looked out of the plane and smiled
"You really like Draco don't you?" Helen whispered to Hermione conspiratorially
"Mum!" Hermione went blushing as her eyes went wide
"I like him…" Richard whispered loudly jumping in on the conversation
Hermione just hid her face in her hands "Stop it… please…"
"A little old fashioned though…" Richard continued "He asked me permission to 'court' my daughter…" He said smiling
"He did… oh that's so gentlemanly…" Helen approved "and very easy on the eyes…" She nudged Hermione
Hermione just sunk lower into her seat, she couldn't believe she had to survive the next couple hours with parents talking her about her boyfriend
Dark days are coming ahead!
