They were waiting outside the small toy store, staring in at a stuffed bear in the window, when Leon finally showed up. Chris was clinging tightly to the Count's hand and pointing at the toy enthusiastically as D smiled indulgently. It struck Leon as oddly adorable-D looked just like a mother out with her son.
Then the moment was destroyed as Chris caught site of his older brother. He dropped D's hand to run to Leon, arms outstretched as D watched them both with a small, almost welcoming smile on his face. Leon thought it rather felt like coming home.
