A/N: Hello again readers! Thank you for sticking with me :)
I hope you are all enjoying the story! This is a short one but the next one will be longer!
I know there feel like fillers but I feel like we never really see the perspective of Lucius and how he even go into the dark arts
Happy reading!
The next morning Lucius returned to Germany to meet with Grindelwald. When he arrived, he found his guest admiring the gardens from the Patio.
"Good morning, I trust you have had a comfortable stay" Lucius injured politely
"Yes…" Grindelwald said getting down to business as Lucius took a seat next to him. "So Mr. Malfoy, what's your story?"
"The story begins about 25 years ago, I met a woman and a man at the same time and I fell in love with both of them. The man was powerful and had ideals that I thought would change our world, return it to it's lost glory. The woman was powerful in her own right, she spoke her mind and like a true pureblood always found a way to make things go her way, be it by hook or by crook. The woman is my wife and the mother of my exceptional and only son. The man - we all know as him as The Dark Lord." Lucius paused to take a sip of the tea Gookey had laid out. Grindelwald continued to listen in silence
"When it began, you were already imprisoned in Numenguard and at the very beginning it seemed to just be him trying to work his political machinations and do exactly what you had once wished, abolish the international statue of secrecy and let wizard kind rule over muggles. It was that for a while. He tried several positions in the Ministry but soon realised he would never grow, not unless he could show proof of his pure roots. Many of us, while young at that time claimed our familial magic and some even suggested he do the same.
He however, hated the idea of family, he was beyond cruel to anyone who suggested it. Then one day he disappeared. He had set the wheels in motion, he had influenced the right people and just like that he left. When he returned, he was barely human. That was when I met him… He had come to Hogwarts to apply for the role of the Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts. I had seen him come home several times, so I decided to greet him, he was as charming as ever but I couldn't seem to take my eyes off his face. He had already become ghostly pale, his eyes were red and while we all have dark magic in our homes, his presence radiated something much more vile…
Dumbledore had just become the headmaster of Hogwarts and he refused to let him teach. After that he left and after that I would only see very little of him when he visited my father. I didn't know when he went from being an advisor to a leader or how he had gone from sitting at the right of my father to being the head of the table, I didn't know anything until on my 17th birthday, I was initiated into the ranks. I was proud and young… I believed his appearance was a price he paid for his power. It was soon after that, he had visited Germany and then Lord Krum went missing… I should have understood then… But I didn't… soon people from inner circle disappeared on long missions or were banished… We never thought he killed wizards… We knew he was killing muggles, we tortured and killed a few ourselves… but never wizards…
Then one day he heard of a prophecy from my best friend, Severus Snape. He went after a new born child, a child who was as old as my son and the rest is history. We thought he was gone and it was for the best, we'd grown up in a war, now we could go back to politics, but we were fools to think it was the end of him. Last year, he came back… to life… There were whispers that he's immortal…. And even I believed it… However we discovered that he's made Horcruxes… more than one.." Lucius took a deep breath "and here I am… trying to betray this madman so that my son never has to see the horrors I did or commit the crimes I know I shouldn't have… I need your help… How do we stop him?"
Grindelwald was deep in thought. He said nothing. Then he asked "what's in your pocket?"
Lucius Malfoy had almost forgotten about the little cup but the second he took it of his person he felt lighter. Almost as if a large rock that was weighing him down emotionally had been cut loose. "This is one of the objects he gave his inner circle for safe keeping. I had gotten a diary, I thought it was cursed and used it further an agenda of mine. It has since been destroyed… That was one Horcrux, however we have reason to believe he might have made more than one… we don't know how many… He's living in my house! He's planning to initiate my son!" Lucius had gotten enraged with the silence and helplessness and fear he had gotten up and had begun to pace around the patio
"I understand… Take a moment… " Grindelwald said in a deep voice. He had his fingers locked and was resting his chin on them. He was thinking. He picked up the cup and examined it
Lucius continued to pace like a wild animal in a cage for a bit and finally sat down. He had Gookey bring him a fresh cup of tea and began to sip it. With every sip he thought of the possible outcomes of his betrayal and they were all bad. He wondered if he should have gone to Snape?
"This prophecy…" Grindelwald said breaking Lucius out of his reprieve "Who prophesied it and who heard it?"
Lucius looked blankly for a minute, "I don't know… but there is a record of it in the hall of prophecies… He want's us to get it for him, except it can't be touched by anyone who it wasn't meant for and they can't be charmed to be levitated etc. The only way to see the prophecy is either to break it or have the people it's about or the prophet hold it…"
"Why doesn't he go get it himself?" Grindelwald asked
"Nobody except a handful of people know of his return and while the-boy-who-lived and Dumbledore shout it from the rooftops, no one believes them. He's been enjoying the chaos unfold." Lucius said "He also believes that he needs to hear it before he goes after the boy again so that he doesn't make the same mistake again. He says he thinks he may have conquered it by taking blood from the boy during his resurrection but he still can't seem to touch the boy…. He is unsure of how the boy is his doom…"
"Hmm… So he's after the boy this time?" Grindelwald asked
"He seems to be obsessed with him. He wants none of his other agenda's in motion until the boy is killed and he doesn't care what he looses in the process."
"Very well Lucius… You have said your piece, now leave me for a while, I need to think… Let's meet tomorrow morning and discuss what we shall do about Vol…"
"No! Don't say it!" Lucius all but screamed
Grindelwald stopped and looked at him blankly "It's just a name. Fear of a name, only increases fear of the… "
"Thing itself I know! But it's not just a name, it's a curse, it can be used to find the speaker's exact location and dispels any and all protection spells. The only one who's used it and lived to tell the tale was Dumbledore" Lucius finished
"I see…"was all Grindelwald said still examining the cup
