A/N: So this is how the timeline has been changed. With this, we are more or less done with the past of Hermione Granger

1932

Merope Gaunt would often stand by the garden to see the young Mister Riddle ride by with his wife. They seemed so happy and in love, the way he looked at his wife, Merope often wished he'd look at her like that. That silly woman was just a mere muggle who could not even do good needlework if the maids gossip was to be believed. Merope Gaunt on the other hand was a witch! A very accomplished potioneer at that. She had mooned over Tom for years and then suddenly one day he was married and never alone. But then one day he was. She was waiting for him hiding in the hedge and saw that he rode away alone. The next day in the markets Merope discovered that the Riddle's wife was pregnant and he had started taking rides to the gentleman's club instead of in the meadow as he used to. Merope smiled as she knew her moment had finally arrived.

One day when her younger brother and father were out, she imperioused Tom's horse and made it throw him off near her house. She then helped Tom up and offered him a spot of tea which she mixed with love potion. The effect was instantaneous. After a few sips itself Tom confessed his love for Merope and kissed her. Making promises of returning the next day. She gave him a box of chocolates laced with the same potion and insisted he keep them hidden from everyone but eat a chocolate after every meal.

At first clandestine, the affair was Merope's dream come true. Tom lavished her with attention forgetting all about his pregnant wife. By the time he became a father, Tom had Merope move into the Manor with him as his mistress shocking everyone and breaking his wife's heart. Merope, despite being the mistress had become the lady of the house. Tom spent all his nights and even most days in her bed. He went on rides and picnics with her and completely ignored his wife and newborn daughter. Merope wanted nothing but Tom so she ignored all else as well. Tom's wife tried to manage his estate best she could but even she was at her wits end.

Their love potion induced affair lasted 10 years before Merope was with child. She thought considering the child was on the way Tom would not abandon her. Over the last 6 years, she had deluded herself that maybe he had truly fallen in love with her. So slowly she weaned him off the love potion and hid away the signs that she was a witch. As the haze cleared Tom Riddle realised what had happened. He didn't know he'd been drugged but he did realise he was not in his right mind. He apologised profusely to his wife and children and then threw a heavily pregnant Merope out.

Unwilling to go home to her father and brother, and unable to return to the riddle manor to collect her wand, Merope wandered around selling what finery she had on her person. Eventually she died giving birth at the orphanage naming the boy after his father. Marvolo and Morfin had already disowned Merope for copulating with a muggle and remained unaware of the birth of Tom. It was only 5 years later that Morfin learned of Merope's fate through the Riddle's Gardner. Furious and blaming Tom and his family for killing her Morfin planned to get his revenge.

1947

The young and effervescent Mary Riddle was the oldest child of the Riddle family. Mary was only 15 but often sounded much older than girls her age. That happened when you had to console you mother each night while you father fornacated in every corner of the house with his ugly and unbecoming mistress. Her father's affair with that weird woman had destroyed their family's reputation quite a bit. However the fact that in the last 5 years her mother had given brith to twin sons aged 3 and another baby sister just a few months ago, had helped everyone realise that Mr. Riddle was done rumbling the sheets with any more slags.

Despite the horrible situation in her formative years, Mary's mother had ensured that she was raised to be a proper lady and to know exactly what makes for a good husband. Mary however, only wanted a good man in her life, even a little less well to do would be okay. She was sure she never wanted anyone like her father. So when she met the young Dr. Thomas Granger, she knew he was it. He was a decade older than her at 25 but she didn't care. She was all set to debut this season and nothing was going to come in her way. She was thrilled when Dr. Granger was among the gentlemen callers after the first ball of the season and she ensured she spent more time with him over anyone else.

When he made the appeal to formally court her however her father said no. She was devastated and that was how Morfin gaunt found her. Riding past his house in tears on the day he discovered that Mary's father had killed his sister by throwing her to the streets. He followed Mary in the meadow and imperiused her and decided to avenge his sister. He would do to Mary what Tom had done to Merope. Right there in the middle of the meadow, Morfin had Mary strip herself to the bone and loose her virtue to him. When he was in the middle of the act, he removed the spell so that Mary could feel the horror of what was happening to her.

When she came to her senses Mary found herself under Morfin who had pinned her with his hands and gagged her as he drove into her painfully. She struggled and writhed and began to cry but that only excited him more. The more she begged for mercy the more rough he became. After he had his fill. He Imperiused her again forcing her to dress without any drawers and rode back to his house with her and then freed her horse.

Tom was worried sick when his daughter didn't come home. They searched for her for days. All that time, Morfin had her in his room raping her 3 times a day and lifting the imperius curse each time to torture her. He had put a silencing charm on his room and would let her scream and wail as he assured her no one would come for her. Ever. It had been 2 weeks and then one day, Morfin had to go out on errands. He went too far and the Imperius was lifted. Mary managed to escape her hell but she knew she couldn't go home. She went to Thomas's house but was too afraid to enter, she saw him through the window but when he saw her she ran.

Thomas ran after her and caught up with her in the stables. She tried her best to get away but he refused to let go. She finally broke down in his arms and told him everything that had happened in the past couple of weeks. He held onto her and let her cry. He promised to protect her and care for her. For the first time Thomas kissed her, he then sneaked her into his house under the cover of darkness, he drew her a bath and went out. He came back with a beautiful white dress and a minister. They were married that night and for the first time Mary made love despite Thomas's reluctance. The next day Thomas and Mary left Little Hangleton forever. 9 months later Mary gave brith to a beautiful baby boy and they called him Richard after Thomas's late father.

The night Richard was born, Morfin gaunt confessed to killing the riddles. The only thing he kept saying was "I can't find my ring… Can someone please find it… it's really important… I'll bring those people back to life with it… Hey! Listen! FIND MY RING!"

1976

Richard Granger said I do and Helen and he started a life together. Unlike his father who had been a General Physician, Richard had chosen to become a Dentist and had fallen in love with his beautiful classmate Helen. Thomas and Mary Granger had raised Richard to be a proper gentleman. He was the splitting image of his mother, the only thing he had that set him apart was jet black hair, which Thomas said he got from his Mother's father. Considering Helen had a set of wild curls on her head, they had hoped that when they had a child she too would inherit the famous riddle hair but that was not meant to be. Three years later Hermione Jean Granger was born in the splitting image of Helen. Her Grandparents passed away when she was barely 3 and when she turned 11, the Grangers all wondered where Hermione got her magic from.
