Jordan- 16

Josh eyed Kelton with a raised eye, so this was the bastard threatening his niece.

"What makes you think I wanna be partners?" Josh asked.

"We can work well together," Kelton replies.

"I'm not helping the asshole who's threatening my niece. You can take that offer and shove it up your ass"

"You just made a big mistake"

"I've made them before"

Josh had walked away before he hit Kelton. Kelton glared at him, if he was gonna hurt Jordan. He's gonna hit her where it hurts most.

Meanwhile

Adam and Kevin were taking Jordan back to her father at the district, Jordan leaned against the door of the car. The two men didn't know how to address the situation with Josh.

"You two can ask whatever questions you have, I feel like I'm in interrogation" Jordan says.

"How long has it been since you've seen Josh?" Adam asked.

"8 years. He showed up one day when I was 8 wanting to see me. My dad and Justin hadn't gotten along with him. Justin wanted to punch in the face that day"

"Why?" Kevin spoke this time.

"He said he'd wanna take me out of Chicago, away from my dad, Justin, my life. I've seen my brother pissed off before but not the way he was that day"

"Why was he trying to do that?" Adam asked this.

"He saw my dad having a dangerous job, wanted to take me from it"

"And he's not doing that now?"

"He wants to make up, I haven't seen him since that day. I believe him that he wants to make up. Me and my dad, were all that he has"

"Your mom didn't have any family?" Kevin asked softly, not wanting to upset.

"As far as I remember my grandparents were dead, as is my mom. Josh is the only family I have on my mom's side. I wanna get to know him"

"Are you sure he's not gonna hurt you?" Adam asks.

"If he does, I'll deal with it. But I'm serious neither of you breathe a word of this to my dad. I'll tell him when I'm ready"

The two just nodded, the last thing either of them needed was to be in the middle of Voight family drama. Hell that was the last thing anyone needed, anyone knew to stay far back from that. Especially when it started to hit the fan.

"Hey Jo, who were you calling earlier?"

"Oh just Theo, something about wanting to hang out this weekend"

"Does little Jo have a date" Adam teased.

She scoffed and laughed. "At least I can get a date, when was the last time you had one"

Kevin couldn't help but laugh and gave an 'oh'. "She got you bro"

"Oh it's on now kid" Adam looked back at her.

"I'm not the one scared of a mouse" Jordan shot back playfully.

"At least I'm not scared of a clown"

"Hey, I told you clowns are murderers"

They all had chuckled and arrived at the district, Jordan hopped on Adam's three had headed inside and up to the squad. Hank turned the white board so his daughter wouldn't see anything she shouldn't. In his eyes she was still the same little girl who'd run through the squad and they'd hide the cases from her.

"One special delivery boss," Adam told Hank.

"Hi dad," Jordan says, hopping off of Adam's back.

"How was the coffee?" Hank asked his daughter.

"Fine, it was with someone from school"

Hank looked to Adam and Kevin for conformation, they nodded. Jordan kept her posture, thankfully they didn't rat her and Josh out. She knew her father and Josh had bad history and still hated each other. Maybe she could be the one to pull them together and they can work things out.

After doing what they can for the night in their case Hank sent the team home for the night, as always he stayed a bit late. Jordan went to her father's office.

"Bad case?" She asked, breaking him from his thoughts.

Looking over he saw his daughter. "Bad case, long day"

"Why don't I drive us home? Your exhausted"

"I'm fine honey"

"Dad, you mind if we talk? I sorta wanna ask you something"

"Sure sweetheart what is it?"

The teen sat across from her father. She hoped this would work. "Have you ever thought about getting back in contact with Josh?"

Hank glanced up at his daughter. "Not really. Josh and I always had our differences. Never got along. Why?"

"Just curious"

The older father started to connect the dots. "Jo, was that friend you had coffee with, was that Josh?"

"What? Dad no. I haven't seen him in years"

"Jordan don't you dare lie to me"

"Fine. I did see him. Josh came to my school and we had coffee. He said he's moving back to Chicago. He wants to make up dad. I believe him"

"Jordan he's playing you, he wants you to feel sorry for him. If he wanted to be around he should have stayed around. I never stopped him from seeing you, the only time I drew the line was 8 years ago when he threatened to take you. Other than that he could have come around any time he wanted. He chose to stay away"

"He was in trouble, dad. He was involved with bad stuff he didn't want that to hurt me, he was protecting me"

"And you think he should be around? He could get you or me killed"

"So could you. You're a cop dad, you've been a cop for years. You go after the worst of the worst out there on the streets to not only keep this city safe. But to keep me safe. You sent me to another state to protect me when I was 13. You stayed away from me working that case to keep me safe. Josh did the same thing you would have done. If you had a small feeling something was wrong or even felt like I was in danger, you put me first. That's what Josh did. He put me and my safety first. Just like you would have. He's family, the least you can do is hear him out. I did. He's all we have left. He's all we have left of mom. You and I both know it's what mom would want" She slightly choked out the last part.

That last part was a sucker punch to Hank's gut, as much as Hank didn't want to admit it. Josh was family, he still was Anna's brother. Jordan was right, Josh was the only family either of them had besides each other. Since Olive left with Daniel, they never saw or talked to her anymore. Olive didn't consider herself and Daniel their family since she moved. The father and daughter duo only had each other since that. Now they have Josh again. Hank was being overprotective and cautious. His daughter was hurt and burned before, he wasn't about to let that happen again. Not on his watch.

The teen moved to the couch and turned away from him, she kept wiping her eyes furiously. She hated crying. It made her feel weak, powerless. All she wanted was a chance to know her uncle, to have that piece of her mother back. She had always felt a void inside her and never knew what it was until now.

Moving over to his daughter he sat next to her. "Jo Jo, look at me" His voice softened.

Slowly looking over at her father, she held her head down not wanting him to see her crying. With two fingers he gently brought her chin up so he could look at her. Her big brown eyes were watery and tears fell. His thumb gently wiped them away, the hard look on his face was gone.

"I'm sorry. I just don't wanna see you get hurt again. You're finally back in a good place, you're clean and sober. I'm afraid if you get hurt again. You'll fall again. I don't wanna see that happen again. I can't lose you. You're all I have left Jo Jo"

"I don't have to be all you have left, we have Josh. He's a reminder of mom. He wants a chance dad. Just hear him out"

"Alright, if you wanna see Josh you can. I won't stop you from seeing him. And if you want me to talk to him, I can hear him out"

She hugged her father tightly, Hank held his daughter just as tight. He kissed her head.

"I love you daddy"

"I love you too sweet girl"

Deep down Hank knew Jordan's words were true, Hank has always put his daughter and her safety first always. If what Jordan said was true about Josh putting Jordan and her safety first. He felt he could talk with him. One thing he will make sure of is that he'll lay down the law with Josh and make it crystal clear if he hurts Jordan, he will have hell to pay.

The father and daughter went home, Jordan had texted her uncle asking if he could meet them for breakfast in the morning. She waited for a response, all she hoped was maybe she could pull her father and uncle together.

The following morning Hank and Jordan had gone to meet Josh for breakfast, it was Saturday. Hank couldn't stay long because of his case. They had met at a diner, Josh walked in and looked at his niece with Hank. One thing Josh could say, Hank hasn't changed one bit over the years. He also knew Hank was fiercely protective of his family that was without a doubt.

He had gone over to them and sat across from them. "Hank, Jordan" He greeted them.

"Josh" Jordan greeted with a smile.

"Josh" Hank simply spoke. He kept telling himself , it's for Jordan.

The younger man looked and saw his sister's old flame. "Hank, good to see you"

"Likewise. Jordan tells me you're moving back"

"I am, I'm moving my construction business down here. I wanna be closer to you and Jordan. I was an ass years ago wanting to take Jordan. I can tell you've done a great job with her Hank"

"I can't take all the credit"

"I do wanna be a part of your lives. I know I made a mistake and stayed away, I felt I was protecting you and Jordan"

Hank glanced at his daughter. "Jo, why don't you go sit at the diner bar so I can talk to Josh"

Without fighting she went, she knew to stay where they could see her. Hank looked to the younger. "What kind of stuff were you involved with?"

"Doesn't matter now, it's handled"

"Josh, I have to look out for Jordan's best interest. If you're still involved with anything and she gets caught in the middle. Were gonna have a big problem"

Josh sighed. "I got in over my head, I owed a big gambling debt. I swear I got it straight. I'd never let Jordan get put in the middle"

"How big was this debt?"

The younger man had stayed quiet before answering. "$100,000"

"What the hell were you thinking?"

"I was drunk it kept adding up before I was in too deep"

"And you're sure you've got it all taken care of?"

"As far as I know, my debt is cleared"

"Why didn't you come to me for help? I would have helped you"

"I didn't want my problems to be yours or Jordan's. This was my mess and I had to clean it up"

"Josh, we're family. I would have helped you"

"I had to protect you, I couldn't let you get hurt because of me"

"I can handle myself. My only concern has been and always will be Jordan"

"Everything is taken care of"

The older man nodded. "Alright. I already told Jordan she can see you. But let me be clear about one thing, Jordan's been hurt enough. Don't hurt her, otherwise, I'll kick your ass back to where you came from"

"Duly noted"

Hank's phone went off and he looked at it. "I gotta go. Mind keeping an eye on Jo?"

"I've got her"

Hank got up from the table and went to his daughter kissing her head then he left. Soon Josh and Jordan left to spend the day together. Kelton had people watching them the whole time.

He had someone break in Josh's car and plant stuff around. Under the driver seat was a half bottle of vodka, in the back were crushed up beer cans hidden. In the trunk there were 3 bricks of uncut cocaine, 2 bricks of uncut heroin, and about half a million dollars in cash.

As they walked to his car someone bumped into him and injected him with something. Josh felt something but ignored it.

"You alright?" Jordan asked her uncle.

"Yeah, I'm good sweetheart" Josh assured her.

Once in the car he started it and started driving, as he drove his vision became blurry. Jordan looked scared. Before she could blink Josh had passed out and lost control of the car and crashed. The car then flipped. Josh was knocked unconscious as was Jordan.
