Jordan- 16
"I think..Jordan I think I'm your father"
When those words left his mouth, Jordan was frozen to the chair. What the hell? Why would he think he's her father?
"You...You're what?"
"I'm sorry to spring this on you but I think I am your father"
"No. No way in hell you are. I already have a father. Look I gotta go just...Just stay the hell away from me before I tell my dad"
She grabbed her backpack and rushed out as fast as she could. He followed her, her mind had been going a thousand miles an hour. Her heart raced in her chest, her chest tightening as the fear and anxiety was skyrocketing in her body.
"Jordan please. Hear me out" He gently grabbed her shoulder.
Without warning she turned and grabbed his wrist and painfully twisted it she then twisted his entire arm behind his back keeping a tight hold.
"I said, stay away from me. I already have a father and it ain't you. I find you near me again and next time not only do I break your arm, I rat you out to my dad. Got me?"
Jacob didn't say anything, he wouldn't admit it but Jordan had a good grip at her age. When he hadn't said anything it angered the sixteen-year-old further.
"I said" She added more pressure on his twisted arm. "Do you understand?"
"Y-yes now get off"
She eventually let him go when he turned around he had been met by a hard punch from the teen, his nose had been bleeding and some of the blood had ended up on her.
"T..That hurt"
"For you to be a man you seriously can't take a punch from a girl. And you're supposedly my father yeah not. Stay the hell away from me. I only warn once next time I get my dad on you"
With that Jordan turned and walked away, her hands had been shaking looking down she saw how bad they had been shaking and her one hand had some of his blood on it. This played with her head and mind.
Had she been lied to her whole life about the truth of her father? Was Hank Voight not her father? She had always been told she took after her mother with the looks but had acted like him. Could she have acted like him because he had raised her? So many things had gone through her head.
The teen had walked around not having any kind of destination in mind, as she walked she noticed she hadn't been that far from 51. She had walked down to the firehouse. When she arrived she saw the vehicles gone so they must have been out on a call, she knew they wouldn't mind if she waited for them so she headed inside.
Stella had been on light duty since returning to work from a serious work injury, it wasn't the best but it kept her busy. The female firefighter had been cleaning when she saw the teen she had gotten highly concerned when she saw the teen's state. Shaking, trembling, had she heard sniffing? Was she crying? As fast as she could she ran to her.
"Jordan? Sweetheart you alright?" Stella asked.
Looking up the teen's brown eyes were now a slight pink reddish color as she had been crying. This had been royally playing on her mind. She felt the urges coming back as she wanted to fall.
"I..I need your help Stella" She choked out.
"Of course, come on in sweetie"
The firefighter guided her inside and closed the doors. She then noticed the blood on her hand. "Honey you're bleeding"
"Don't touch it. It's not mine. I need you to take a sample of that blood and a sample of mine"
Stella had cocked an eyebrow. "May I ask what for?"
"A paternity test"
Meanwhile
Jacob had gathered up his stuff from the coffee shop and left, he was walking as fast as he could to his car. When he got to his car Hank had been leaning against it.
"What do you want?" Jacob asked, he got most of the blood cleaned up from his nose.
"You back in a jail cell" Hank replied.
"I served my time from the feds leave me alone"
"I can't do that. I owe it to someone to put you back where you belong"
"It wouldn't be Anna Carter would it?"
That infuriated the older man as he stormed over and grabbed him, pinning him against a brick wall.
"Don't you ever say her name again. Otherwise you're going for a ride you won't come back from"
"I see it. I finally see where Jordan gets it"
A fierce look was now on the older man's face. "What did you say?" He felt his hand moving up to Jacob's throat.
"Oh did I forget to mention? I met yours and Anna's daughter. Well Anna's daughter after I told Jordan something"
That caused Hank to squeeze the man's throat. "Let me get one thing in that head of yours. If you ever again go near my daughter again, I'll make you feel unimaginable pain that you didn't think was possible"
"I will say, she has one hell of a right hook. Clocked me real good"
"If you do anything to my daughter, they'll find your body in the river you understand me"
"You should ask her if she's hiding any secrets? You know how kids are"
Hank then pulled his gun out and put it under his chin. "Keep talking and the only way you're gonna be able to breathe is through a hole in your throat"
"Hank, Hank let him go" A voice said, it was Antonio.
"You should listen to him, Hank" Jacob taunted.
The senior detective pulled him back and put a hand to Hank's chest trying to keep him back. Jacob then got into his car and left. Hank looked at his detective with a glare.
"What the hell did you do that for?" Hank asked.
"To stop you from doing something stupid" Antonio answered.
"He found Jordan! I don't even wanna begin to think what he told her"
"You have gotta relax. Look, call her and talk to her. Have her come to the district. Talk to her at home"
Hank turned and walked away as Antonio sighed. This Case was going to be a hard one for the older Sergeant, it was already beginning to mess with him.
While
When Jordan said she wanted to get a paternity test done that completely shocked Stella, had she entered a different universe? Why would Jordan feel she needs a paternity test?
"Jo, honey, why would you need a paternity test?" Stella asked, getting her voice back.
"I'm afraid that my dad may not be mine and if he's not..I won't have anyone" Jordan says, choking out a sob.
"Come on, I'll help you out"
Guiding the teen in Stella gathered what she would need, thankfully they kept medic stuff at the house in case of emergencies. Snapping on a pair of gloves carefully the dark-haired woman gathered the blood from Jordan's hand.
"Why do you think your dad isn't your father?"
"Someone from my mom's past came back, he told me..he thinks he could be my father. And it's not like I can ask my mom because she's gone. Josh probably wouldn't know. And my dad wouldn't tell me something like that"
"Why don't you tell your dad?"
"No way. I don't want him to know, it could ruin the image he has of my mom"
"You don't know if that could ruin anything. My parents aren't my biological parents"
"What?"
"I'm like Sylvie, my parents adopted me. I don't know my biological parents. Sylvie doesn't know her biological parents. A parent, blood related or not doesn't make a parent. Being a parent means that they'll always love you. No matter what because the love a parent has for their child is unconditional. They'll love you till the end of time. They'll do whatever it takes to protect you, to make sure you're happy, healthy, safe. They put you before themselves. I know if you do this test, regardless of what the results are sweetheart. Your father will never stop loving you, he's not going to see you any different. What he sees when he looks at you, is his beautiful, strong and brave daughter. He will always love you"
The teen's lip wobbled. "What if he stops loving me?"
"I guarantee you that'll never happen and I also know. Deep down you know the truth. You always have known and you always will"
"Thanks Stella"
"Anytime kiddo"
"I can't get it off my mind and I wanna do this to clear it"
"Understandable"
She put the one sample of blood in a plastic bag and sealed it up, Jordan rolled up her sleeve and let Stella get a blood sample from her. The teen never flinched when the needle went into her skin, after getting some blood out the dark-haired woman capped it and put it in a separate plastic bag sealing it.
"Hey Stella, can we keep this between us?"
"Of course. But remember no matter what the outcome is, your dad will always love you"
"Thank you"
Jordan collected the samples and covered up the needle mark and left going home. When she got home she saw her father's car outside and got curious. Why would he be home in the middle of a work day? She ran inside, practically breaking the door in.
"Dad? Dad! You home!" She called.
Hank came out from the kitchen hearing his daughter without a word he went over and hugged her. Jordan couldn't help herself and flung her arms around him. She had always felt safe in his arms, as if nothing could hurt her. She was safe from the world and all the evils in it.
"Sweetheart, I need to ask you something" Hank started.
Jordan felt her heart skip a beat, her throat tighten, she swallowed hard and took a breath. "What's wrong dad?"
"Did anyone come see you or talk to you about anything?"
Everything in her told her to confess to her father but she didn't want to spill what Jacob had said. Her father would unleash all kinds of hell and possibly kill him.
"No. Nobody. I promise, if anyone was around you'd be the first person I tell"
"You haven't seen this guy?" He pulled a picture of Jacob out.
When she saw the photo she wanted to glare but if she showed anything, Hank would know that she'd been lying and everything would come out. The teen stared at the photo examining it.
"No. Never, haven't seen him"
"This is a guy, your mother put away. It had been her last case before she went on leave with you"
"I hope you catch him"
Hank could definitely tell something had been bothering his daughter, but what? Could she be scared to say anything about Jacob? Had the bastard threatened her?
"Sweetheart, if you're scared you don't have to be. I can help you"
"I promise dad. I hadn't see him"
"If you suspect anything-"
"Call you right away"
"That's my girl"
Hank's phone rang and he left for the case. Jordan walked to the kitchen and saw an empty coffee cup she knew it was her father's. It still had some hot coffee in it. She had gone to grab something.
When she went back to the kitchen she snapped on some gloves, taking a qtip she carefully swabbed around where she saw some semi fresh saliva. She placed that sample in a third plastic bag. Finally she took another qtip and swabbed around in her mouth and placed it in a fourth and final bag.
Putting them in her backpack she left the house she headed off for Med. It was a rather quick trip as she rode the bus lost in her thoughts and walked the rest of the way. When she arrived she bumped into Ethan.
"Sorry Ethan" Jordan says.
"It's ok Jo. Hey, you alright?" Ethan saw the blank look in her eye.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's one of those days. Say, can you do me a favor"
"Depends on the favor"
Reaching in her backpack she pulled out the samples. "My friend, she wants to do a paternity test on herself. She doesn't want her dad knowing or finding out. She's afraid he'll get mad"
He looked at her and something wasn't adding up. "Does this friend have a name?"
"Just a kid from school. She collected these today and wants to run them but is too scared"
"You're the friend aren't you?"
"That obvious?"
"I can do it off the books, it may take a day or two for the results"
"Thank you Ethan. Could you not mention this to Will? I don't want him to find out and he tells Jay and it gets back to my dad"
"I promise"
"Thank you"
"I'll call you when the results are in"
"Thanks"
After that Jordan walked away, without a doubt these would be the longest couple of days in her life.
