Jordan- 16
Jordan had felt like it's been a week or even a year waiting on the results of the paternity test and it's only been a day. She'd been on edge, she felt as if she could easily slip and relapse, the teen had been deeply terrified at the fact that if Jacob was her father she'd be forced to leave her home and life and go live with him.
The thought alone was enough to make her puke. Her stomach had been in knots for days, she couldn't eat, sleep, focus. More so she'd been terrified at the thought of leaving her father, he was her safe haven. The only person to help her feel safe whenever she was with him she felt like the safest person in the city. Nobody messes with Hank Voight, his family, his team and friends. Not without suffering consequences.
Hank had been on high alert with Jacob around; he may not have broken any laws, but he had broken Hank's one law. Don't mess with Jordan. He felt his daughter had seen Jacob and is too scared to tell the truth but what made him more curious is to what he told her and why Jordan felt she needed it to be a secret. If the bastard had said or done anything to cause his daughter to fall off the wagon, he'll be eating a bullet or two.
One morning Hank had dropped his daughter off at school and then had Adam sit at her school to watch her. Since Jacob blurted out what he said the teen had also been very unusually quiet and Hank didn't like when his daughter got this quiet when she got quiet that's when she's most likely to fall.
After watching his daughter go into the school he pulled off heading to the district on his way a car had been following him. It hadn't taken the Sergeant to know that he had a tail; he was now glad his daughter wasn't with him as he started to drive fast and erratically. It is probably without a doubt Jacob following him. He kept looking and saw the car gone. He didn't act fast enough as he turned his head and there had been a loud CRASH!
Meanwhile
Jordan hadn't been able to focus during class after the class was over she started walking. Her best friend and only friend Theo saw her and saw how depressed she's been. Theo liked Jordan, the two were nearly thick as thieves. Been best friends since third grade. Jordan liked Theo too. It seemed as if everyone around them knew it and they didn't. Truth be told, Theo was falling in love with Jordan, he was a bit afraid if he told her she wouldn't feel the same way.
He chased after her. "Jo. Hey, Jo wait up"
She turned back looking at him. "Theo, hey"
"Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. Why do you ask?"
"You just don't look that great"
"Rough couple of days, nothing big"
"I'm here whenever you need me"
"Thanks Theo"
"Anytime Jo"
For the first time in days Jordan had smiled, she turned and walked out of the building when she got to the parking lot she had seen Adam's car and groaned. She loved her father but he was so protective. Walking over she saw him trying to stay awake she knocked on the window loudly scaring him making him jump she laughed he rolled the window down.
"Kid, one of these damn days you're going to give me a heart attack. Why aren't you in class?"
"Having one of those days"
"Wanna talk?"
She had debated telling Adam she desperately wanted to hide it from her father but she couldn't keep it because she felt as if she was going to crack.
"If I tell you, promise you won't tell my dad"
"It depends on what you tell me kiddo"
She got in the car just as she sat in the passenger seat. Adam's phone went off. Jordan was getting a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.
"Hey Kev.. I got Jo next to me, what's up…" Adam's face fell, he went pale and his stomach turned when he heard his friend talk.
When Jordan saw she was getting the same feeling in her stomach, her eyes widening. Adam hung up and caught a side glance of the teen.
"What's wrong?" Jordan's voice shook.
"Jo, did you hear from your dad after he dropped you off?"
"No. Adam, what's going on? Is my dad alright?"
He didn't wanna be the one telling her this, he didn't want to tell her at all but he knew that she'd find out regardless.
"51 responded to a car accident. Honey, it was your father's car"
The teen felt her heart stop, her blood ran cold. "No. Adam please no"
"Hey, hey. We'll find him. We will"
Jordan got out of the car, if she had to guess she knew who took her father, no question asked.
While
Pain. Nothing but agonizing pain was all Hank felt. Blood ran down his head. His vision was blurry. It had finally taken him a few minutes to clear his vision. It was cold. Ice cold. Looking around he saw he was in a basement he tried to move but couldn't.
He was tied to a chair, his wrists and ankles were zip tied. When he did move, pain shot all through his body. The door opened and footsteps had been heard, Jacob came into view.
"You can try all you want, you're not getting out of that" Jacob spoke.
"You underestimate me Jacob. And you obviously don't know my team as well as you think you do. Not only will they keep Jordan safe but they will find me" Hank spat.
"It's funny how you think Jordan will be safe. It'll just be a matter of time before I get her. You won't always be able to protect her, just like you were never able to protect Anna"
Hearing Anna's name made Hank ignore the pain in his body and struggle trying to fight the restraints. "Don't say her name"
"She ruined my life! I lost everything when she put me in jail. My wife, my children. Jasmin remarried, she said she'd wait for me but she couldn't stand being alone so she left. My kids hate me, I'm dead to them in their eyes. Anna took everything from me so it only felt right to take what's hers. When Jordan told me she was dead I was angry but realized she's not here to stop me so that makes it better"
"You were around my daughter"
"I take it Jordan does take after Anna with the lying and all. She has it down to a science apparently. Did she tell you her little secret?"
"What secret? My daughter doesn't hide things from me anymore"
"That you know of. I've learned so much about little Jordan. She has her mother's looks, she has your attitude and temper"
"Talk about her again and I rip your throat out!"
"Sounds like her"
One thing Hank always did, he carried a small knife. He used his fingers and went into his pocket and grabbed it. The blade opened, he put it against the plastic and started cutting it.
"You really thought you could get away with this? Kidnap a Chicago Police officer? Messing with my daughter. I don't care what you do to me, but nobody and I mean nobody messes with my daughter and lives"
"Watch me"
He took a crowbar and viciously hit Hank in his already bruised possibly now broken ribs, the older man tried to take his tied ankles and kick out at the man; it slightly knocked him off balance but enough for him to fall. After cutting through the zip ties on his wrists he yanked the rest off and the bound on his ankles.
Jacob stood and threw a punch only for Hank to grab his fist and twist it painfully, the younger guy had brought his foot up and kicked the Sergeant in his knee knocking him down.
"I see where Jordan gets the fighting attitude because it sure as hell wasn't her mother"
A growl had left Hank's throat. "Anna put you away. I'm going to put you down"
"I'd like to see you try"
He pulled a gun out aiming it at Hank, the older man went over and charged at him the two had started to fight over the gun. There were then two loud BANG! BANG!
Elsewhere
Jordan had gotten out of Adam's car she knew without a doubt Jacob had been responsible for her father's disappearance. With her father out of the way he'd have unlimited access to try and get her, but she knew that wouldn't happen with the team around.
Adam had started going after her. "Jordan! Jo kiddo wait"
"Leave me be Adam"
"Jordan, it's dangerous. We don't even know who did it. We don't have any suspects"
"That you know of"
He eyed her. She was definitely hiding something. "What are you hiding?"
"I'm going to find my dad, don't worry about me"
"Jordan"
"Adam it has to be me who does this. It just has to be that way"
"You know who took him" It was more of a statement than a question.
"I have to go"
"Who was it?"
"I really didn't want to do this"
She had gone over to him and hugged him from behind then started to put him in a sleeper hold. Slowly Adam had begun falling to his knees as he was going unconscious. A pang of guilt had hit Jordan in the chest for doing this, she didn't want to but she had to be the one to save her father.
Jacob took him because of her. She had to be the one to save her father, if anything ever happened to him that would be it for the teen. It would cause her to fall and crash hard to the point of no return. Tears fell from her eyes as she finally had rendered the young officer down and unconscious.
Without hesitation she grabbed his car keys and gun. Running over she got into the car and took off. Pulling out her phone she called a number.
A phone rang as Jacob moved; it had been his phone. Beneath him was Hank with two gunshot wounds to the stomach and bleeding heavily from them. He laid there zoned out. All that was on his mind was Jordan. His precious and beloved daughter. She was all he had and he was all she had.
She lost so much in her 16 years of life. She couldn't lose him, she just couldn't. Nothing ever took Hank Voight down, this wouldn't be any different. All he felt was pain, nothing but utter agonizing pain. He wanted it to stop. His brown eyes were fluttering closed, he held his breath as if he was trying to play dead.
Looking at the older man Jacob had been satisfied, he didn't have to worry about Hank anymore. All he had to do was get Jordan and his plan would have been successful. His phone kept going off with a familiar number smirking, he answered.
"To what do I owe the pleasure Jordan?" He answered.
"Let's talk. Let's meet" She came on, trying to hide the anger in her voice.
"Where?"
"I'll text you"
"I look forward to it"
"One hour"
"Looking forward to it"
Jacob took one final look at Hank and walked out. Jordan was getting a few supplies to go meet Jacob. Her brother's baseball bat, a crowbar, a knife, some pliers, gloves, Adam's gun and some other stuff. Her phone rang and she knew it was someone from the team or Trudy even when she saw it was Antonio she picked it up.
"Leave me alone Antonio. I know what I'm doing" She said, she had kept her voice as straight and calm as possible.
"No you don't tell me where you are" The senior detective came on.
"Don't worry about it. Just know I'm bringing my dad back home"
Before the detective could get another word out Jordan hung up and cut her phone off and took the battery out so they wouldn't be able to track her phone. Getting back in Adam's car she disabled his GPS so they wouldn't be able to locate his car.
Hank had always been the one protecting, defending and saving his daughter. It was now Jordan's turn to do the same for her father, she was tired of sitting on the side lines. She was sixteen not six. She had felt it was time for her to step up and prove it.
Soon it was time for her to head out and meet Jacob, hopefully the plan goes accordingly. She left, the spot she picked had been secluded; it was an old place he used to hide out. It wasn't hard for her to dig into his files and look through finding an old place.
An hour later Jordan was at the place she leaned against the trunk of Adam's car, she had another surprise in her pocket. When Jacob pulled up she couldn't help but glare at him. He got out and went over to her.
"Little Jordan, what can I do for you?" He asked.
"Wanna talk. That ok with you?" She forced herself not to spit it out viciously.
"Talk about what?"
"You'll find out"
She kicked him behind the knee and he dropped, pulling out the stun gun she brought it to his neck stunning him until he was knocked out. When he was out she dragged him into the house.
"Why the hell do all men gotta be so damn heavy?" She muttered.
After what seemed like forever she managed to drag him inside, she zip tied his wrists and ankles tightly once he had been secured she then dragged him down the stairs and lifted him into a chair and tied him up tightly. While he was out she went and got the bag she brought.
Inside the house she locked it up going to the basement. She laid down a plastic tarp and moved the chair on top of it. Opening the bag the first thing she pulled out were gloves she snapped on some gloves and glared at the bastard. Now she had to wait.
Meanwhile
Back at the other house Hank still laid in a pool of his blood and he kept losing more and more blood by the minute, he didn't hear Jacob anymore he took a small breath and forced himself to get up weakly he took his belt off and wrapped it around the wounds.
With all the blood loss he had been very unsteady on his feet and he was dizzy, his vision was blurry but he had to fight. Fight for himself. But more importantly he had to fight for his daughter. When he lost his son, it was Jordan who had given him strength to live, fight and move on. She still was his reason for living.
Moving weakly he managed to get the front door of the house open he looked around, he remembered it from the files. It was Jacob's home where he had his family. Shaking that off he just looked around trying to take in and gather his surroundings. He didn't have much time before he either passed out or died. He moved down the steps, gripping the railing to keep his balance.
He kept his daughter on his mind. How she needed him. She would always need him. He needed her. His little girl was now the only reason he kept his head on straight and hasn't gone over that dangerous edge he's been on forever.
Walking over to a car he used what very little strength he did have to bust the window causing the alarm on the car to go off. He unlocked it and managed to find a phone inside, the owner most likely had forgotten it. Picking it up he managed to dial 911.
By the time someone had gotten on the phone Hank had dropped the phone as he began to lose consciousness.
"Jo Jo….I...I love you…..so much…..sweetheart…..more than...my own...life" With that Hank's vision had completely gone black.
Over at the 21st district Trudy had all her patrol officers looking for Hank and her goddaughter and nobody dared to tell her no. With the mood she had been in, everyone had been scared of her.
Adamm managed to go back to the district late and in a panic, when he came to he saw his gun was gone which most likely meant Jordan had stolen it. Which came in Adam's head, she knew who hit and kidnapped her father, she planned to end the bastard who did it.
Rushing past everyone he ran for the stairs luckily he didn't trip over his own feet he ran upstairs as he saw his team come into view. They all had been working to find their boss and Jordan. Kevin heard footsteps and thought it was Jordan he looked to see Adam.
"Ruz? What's wrong?" Kevin asked, seeing the panicked look on his face.
"I screwed up. I told Jordan about Hank and now she's gone and she..she took my gun" Adam spoke nervously.
"You let her take your gun?" Hailey asked in disbelief.
"I didn't let her do anything. One minutes she's hugging me, next I'm in a sleeper's hold knocked out. I came too and found my car and gun gone"
"My money's on this Jacob guy. He had a past with Anna, he gets out and immediately targets Hank and Jordan"
"And now Jordan's out there with this psycho," Jay commented. "We need to find her"
"Where do we start looking?" Kim asked.
"Go through Jacob's files and see if he has any places"
Trudy ran upstairs. "Guys, a 911 call came in but the caller never responded. Dispatch triangulated the call and got a pinpoint on where the call was made. More calls came in about a car being broken into and the alarm going off they got a description it matches Hank"
Antonio sent Jay and Adam to check it out while he, Kim, Hailey and Kevin continued to search for Jordan.
Jordan had enough waiting her father was either injured or dying she went and got a bucket of water she came back and dumped it on Jacob waking the semi conscious man up as he looked around. He couldn't move. He was tied up and zip tied feeling the plastic on his wrists.
His eyes met a vicious glare in big brown eyes. He thought for a moment he was staring into Hank's eyes but instead he was looking into Jordan's eyes.
"I'm going to ask one time and one time only. Where is my dad?" Jordan's voice held an icy dangerous tone.
"What are you going on about?"
"You really wanna play dumb? We can do that"
Jordan went and grabbed the baseball bat. Taking it she brought it back as high as she could and with all her force she brought it down in the middle of Jacob's ribs making him scream.
"What I'm going on about is the fact that you hit my dad in an accident and now he's missing. And let's get a couple of things straight. One, if anything happened to my dad what I'll do to you will be ten times that. Two, you should have never screwed with a Voight. We play hardball. Now, where's my dad?"
"I don't know"
This time when she swung the bat she took it aiming at his shoulder and she brought it down hard. The man screams, hearing a sickening noise coming from his shoulder. It sounded as if Jordan broke something.
Tossing the bat down she tore his shirt open and went to grab a knife. It was Justin's old swiss Army knife he passed down to her after he died. Opening it as calmly as she could she ran the cool blade up and down her finger and ever so gently tapped the tip of the blade.
"This is one of my many favorite things because my older brother gave it to me and it's my most prized possession. I used to use it on myself, now it's gonna be used on you"
Casually walking over to him she placed the tip of the blade on his chest and then as hard and as fast as she could she brought the knife down on his chest forcing a scream from him again.
"Where's my dad?"
"Screw...you!"
She had then taken the blade down his bare chest again the blood ran down him and dripped onto the plastic beneath him. He let out a dry chuckle.
'I'll give it to you kid. You plan everything accordingly don't you?"
"My father may have raised a kid, he didn't raise a stupid kid. I'm sixteen not stupid. Now where is he before things get real ugly"
"Again I have no idea what you're talking about"
She turned and reached for the pliers in the bag. "Let's try and refresh that memory of yours"
Meanwhile
Jay and Adam arrived at the scene and found the car with the alarm going off rushing over. They opened the door to see their boss slumped over and unconscious. Without hesitation Jay pulled out his radio and yelled into it.
"This is 5021 George Emergency, 10-13 we have a police officer down. Repeat we have an officer down. Put a rush on a bus to my location now. Repeat rush a bus to my location"
Jay and Adam took him out and began putting pressure on the wounds, Adam felt for a pulse.
"There's one. It's weak but it's there" Adam said panicked.
"We can't wait for the bus, we have to take him in the car" Jay told him.
They moved their boss to the back, Adam was the support as Jay drove talking through the radio.
At the 21st they all had sighed in relief when they heard Hank was found and they were rushing him to the hospital. The search had still been on for Jordan.
"It's like she's completely off the grid," Hailey says. "Does she do this a lot?"
"Not often but when she does, it's never good" Kevin answered.
"She's a kid she would never do anything extreme"
The others had looked at her, Hailey hadn't known the real Jordan just yet. Antonio looked over at her.
"Jordan's a good kid, she was the sweetest little girl. After her brother died it changed her completely. She shut down and cut that part off. She went through a rough patch but when she got better it brought her and Hank closer. He's all she has. He's the only parent she's had, her mother died when she was a baby. She's very protective of him. There's nothing she wouldn't do for him and there's nothing he wouldn't do for her. Jordan's loyal to her father, always has been. Always will be. You cross either one there will be hell to pay"
Before Hailey could respond to that Kevin spoke up. "Jacob has like three other places if we split up I'm sure we can find her"
"We better move and fast"
They all had split up going to the three separate locations. Over at the other house, Jordan was using the pliers to break Jacob's fingers. So far she had managed to break 6 of his fingers, Jacob had been screaming loudly.
"I'm going to ask one more time. Where is my dad?"
"Go...to...hell"
She then went and grabbed the crowbar and came back and she lost it. She had begun hitting him all over. She had swung and hit with force, each blow she used more and more force. When she brought the crowbar down she landed it hard on his right knee.
A scream ripped out of him, louder than the others. It felt as if Jordan shattered his knee. She had most likely bruised if not broken his ribs, he was breathing heavily. After a few more minutes Jordan stopped putting the crowbar down.
"Where...is he?"
"Sc….Screw….you"
"You made me do this"
She pulled Adam's gun out and aimed it at him, clocking it. Hailey arrived at one of the houses and rushed inside; she didn't pull her gun just yet. She didn't wasn't gonna pull a gun on her boss's daughter. That was a defiant not. Cautiously the blonde approached the house, her hand went to her hip where her gun was.
Opening the door she did pull her gun and looked around the house but she had heard voices, she pulled her radio out.
"Antonio, I think I'm at the right place. I'm hearing voices. I'm gonna check it out" Hailey says quietly enough so she won't get caught.
"Be careful Hailey, I'm on my way to you. I'm five minutes out" The senior detective advised her.
"Copy that"
She put her radio away and followed the trail where she heard the voice. The basement. Carefully she opened the door and went down, keeping her gun in front of her. Jordan heard footsteps and raised an eye.
What the hell? How did they find her? She made herself untraceable. She shook it off and kept the gun aimed at Jacob. When the blonde detective came into view she saw the teen holding the gun she put hers away and held her hands up.
"Jordan, you don't want to do this," Hailey told her cautiously.
"Hailey, get out. Now" Jordan told her, not lowering her aim.
"Put the gun down"
"I said get the hell out. I'm taking care of this"
"Your father wouldn't want you to do this"
"You don't know what my dad would have wanted! Just get the hell out and stay out of my way"
"I can't do that"
"I'm not telling you again Upton. Get the hell out of here, NOW!"
"You can yell and scream at me all you want, I'm not going anywhere"
The teen looked at her, the same glare in her eyes. The same glare Voight would have. Dropping the gun she went over.
"Do you know what it's like growing up with one parent? Because I do. I barely had my mom because she died when I was a baby. I never got to know her. My dad's all I've got as far as having a parent. So I suggest you get the hell out and leave me what I came here to do" She turned her attention back to Jacob.
Taking a breath, the blonde knew she was probably going to regret saying this. "What about your brother?"
That had caused the teen to freeze and look at Hailey. "What did you just say?"
"What about your brother? He wouldn't want you to become a murderer. He wouldn't want that for you"
She marched over the glare intensified. "Don't you ever speak of my brother. You didn't know him nor do you know me. My mother or brother better not ever cross your tongue. Don't talk like you know me because you don't. Stop acting as if you're a know it all detective because you're not, the all high and mighty attitude that doesn't work. You're not better than everyone so stop acting like it"
"Jordan that's enough" Came a strong voice, it was a man's voice. Antonio arrived and came down.
"What are you doing here?"
"Give me the gun now Jordan"
"Make me"
"Jordan, give me the damn gun, now"
"Not till this ass wipe tells me where my dad is" He turned back to Jacob. "And he will one way or another"
"Your dad's on the way to the hospital. We found him"
She fully turned facing them, the glare on her face dropped. "You...you found my dad?"
"We did, he's on his way to Med"
"Is he...Is he alive?"
"He had a pulse. It was weak but it was there"
She turned back to Jacob. "What did you do to him?"
"Wouldn't you like to know" He chuckled dryly.
"I figured it out. You never were my father, you only said that to get me to drop my guard. So I'd be vulnerable for your mind games"
"You are a bright kid I'll give you that"
"You knew all along"
"Like I said you're a smart kid"
Marching over she forced the gun in his mouth making it slightly go down his throat. The glare coming back. "Say another word and you'll be eating and shitting bullets"
"Jordan let him go. He'll go back to prison. Don't let your father wake up in the hospital and find out you went to jail" Antonio tried to reason with her.
"This bastard needs to die today. By my hand"
"Don't do it. This isn't you, you would never resort to murder, no matter how angry you'd get"
"I need to do this. For my dad. My mom"
"Neither of them would want you to do that. You don't belong in jail, you belong out here being a kid. Just give me the gun. You can still walk away from this and have a life"
After what seemed like forever she pulled the gun out and went to Antonio. Jacob laughed.
"I knew you didn't have it in you. You're weak, pathetic, just like your mother"
Jordan froze and gripped the gun tightly in her hand, everything in her wanted to empty the clip into him and not give a damn. It had been taking all her strength not to turn and start shooting.
"Give me the gun Jordan" Hailey said softly, not wanting her to go off.
"It's alright" Antonio says.
Just as she was about to hand over the gun Jacob laughed again. "You're not Anna's daughter. No way she would have raised such a weak and pathetic daughter"
That had done it for Jordan she turned and before the two detectives could react she fired the gun. One bullet went into his shoulder, one in his stomach, one in his thigh and one in his knee.
"Don't ever talk about my mom"
Antonio grabbed the gun and proceeded to check on Jacob as Hailey got her out of there, Jordan just had a blank emotionless look on her face. The blonde took her to the car.
"Jordan, do you have any idea what you've done?" Hailey asked.
The teen turned her head, a tear falling from her eyes. "He shouldn't have talked about my mom"
Hailey had no idea what to do or what to say. The two drove to the hospital in silence. Jordan glanced at the blonde.
"I'm sorry for how I snapped. I never try to snap like that. Between him talking about my mom, him stalling about where my dad was. I was in overdrive, I don't think before I speak especially when I'm pissed"
"Jordan if he dies you can go to jail for murder"
"My dad would do it for me. I'll do it for him"
When Antonio mentioned Jordan's loyalty to her father, he wasn't lying. She had seen the loyalty she has, she'd do anything for him even if it meant going to prison for him. The blonde had never seen someone that heavily motivated, dedicated, and loyal to their loved one. Especially their parents.
They soon arrived at Med and Jordan practically ran inside, Adam and Jay were inside. They had Hank in the OR preparing to operate. The teen flew past them as they went after her.
"Jordan, honey wait" Jay called, grabbing her arm.
She turned all of her anger at this point had melted, she looked at them with a desperate pleading look.
"Where's my dad?" Her voice was cracking, she sounded desperate.
"They rushed him up to surgery not long ago" Jay told her.
She tried to get out of Jay's hold but he brought her back in for a hug. He knew she shouldn't be alone. If she had been left alone in this condition, who knows what might happen. Everyone except Antonio had arrived at this point.
Ethan had seen them when he heard about Hank, he had an envelope in his hands containing the paternity test results he ran for Jordan. The teen saw him and walked over.
"Hey Ethan" Her voice cracked.
"I'm sorry to hear about your father, he's in good hands"
"Thanks"
"And I just got these straight from the lab" He handed her the envelope.
"Thank you"
Jordan hugged him and then went upstairs, everyone had gathered up there. She just paced around till she sat on the floor close to the door, her knees pulled to her chest and in her hands was the envelope with the results.
Holding the envelope in her hands she wanted to rip them open and read what she already knew the truth was. Hank was her father, Jacob was nothing to her. The teen knew regardless of what the results are Hank has been and always will be her father. Getting up she walked over to the trash can, she took the envelope and held it half way in till it dropped completely in.
She went and sat on the floor as she awaited news about her father. Tears just fell freely from her eyes. All that could weigh on her mind was, will her father make it or will he die?
