Jordan- 15
When the man had finally had enough he stormed over and before Jordan could react she raised her arm up and fired off shots. The man had gone down, for not firing a gun Jordan had actually done well. One bullet got him in the shoulder, one in the chest, and one in the leg.
The teen was going to highly regret this as she began limping over on her throbbing ankle and bent down to the man and pulled back the horrible Halloween mask he wore. It had been no other than Tyler James, a serial killer that had been taken down just a few years back. In his sick and delusional mind he thought he was in love with Jordan. He had gotten out of prison and faked his death, nobody would be looking for a dead man.
Tyler had looked at her, his body trembling and spazzing in pain. A wet and stickiness began flowing from his mouth. Blood. A grin appeared on his face as he looked at the teen. Jordan viciously glared at him.
"You…you grew up…to be…so…so beautiful" Tyler choked out spitting more blood up. His hand had twitched lightly.
Jordan aimed the gun straight at his head. "Twitch again and I'll blow your head clean off"
"You…were…always a…feisty one"
"Is that so?"
She aimed the gun and shot him in the knee, Tyler screamed in pain. "I've been told I was more of a scorpion"
"So…fiesty…so beautiful"
"Keep talking. Soon you won't be able to talk, soon you'll be breathing through your head"
"Jo, sweetheart don't do it" Hank told his daughter. "You won't be able to live with yourself if you do. The guilt will eat at you. Take it from me, it ain't worth it"
"Your dad's right kid, don't do it. Put the gun down" Adam went on.
"But…He..he"
"Don't it's not worth it"
Just as she was about to put the gun down he cackled evilly and as he tried to move up using what energy she had, the teen bashed him across the face with the gun knocking him out. She had then hobbled to her father and Adam, setting them free. Once they were out of their restraints Jordan had collapsed in a great deal of pain, Hank had tended to his daughter while Adam had gone to check on Tyler.
Jordan tried hard not to cry in pain but pain pulsed and coursed through her body. Hank held his daughter close, she cried and whimpered in pain. She tried to breathe through the pain but it was too great. Looking up at her father with teary and red eyes, frizzy and matted hair sticking and clinging to her sweaty forehead.
"Dad, you.. And Adam.. you two go get help. I'll be fine by myself. I'll hold you back" Jordan told her father.
"I'm not leaving you Jordan and you aren't holding us back. I'm not going anywhere without you" Hank told her gently but firmly.
"I wanna go home"
Pushing through everything Hank stood to his height and then bent down and picked up his daughter. Slowly the teen felt the adrenaline leave her body and with that she had felt her eyes droop close, everytime her eyes closed and her head fell she had shot her head back up trying to stay awake.
As gently as he could he brushed some of her hair back off her forehead. "Just rest sweetheart, you need it"
"Dad… promise me. When we're found, no pain meds. I don't want anything. I can handle this"
When Hank heard his daughter's voice and how desperate she sounded, her sobriety meant so much to her. If the kid had so much as a headache, she'd rather suffer through it than take an aspirin. She still hadn't fully trusted herself with it and she may not for a while.
"Jo Jo, it's alright as long as we manage it"
"No. I can't. I..I don't even know if he did anything. I don't know if I'm still clean or not because of what he did" Her voice started cracking and shaking.
"We'll figure it out, I promise"
"I..I worked so hard to get clean. What if he messed it up?"
"Then we'll fix it. It can be fixed again"
Adam had let out a small sigh. From the multiple shots Jordan fired into Tyler, he had lost too much blood and ended up dying on the floor. Hank looked at the officer, Adam's eyes met Hank's and he shook his head. Tyler didn't have a pulse. He was dead and he died by Jordan's hand. They didn't know how the teen would handle this, shooting someone and the after result is the person losing their life.
Tyler had deserved to die but not at the hands of a fifteen-year-old. This could possibly haunt Jordan for a bit and play with her head. By the time Hank looked down at his daughter, Jordan was already out like a light. The pain was too great for her to handle and she had passed out.
Hank had carried his daughter out with Adam following them, they had begun making their way through the dark woods.
Meanwhile
Antonio had called everyone to Hank's house and began investigating, two of their own and Jordan was missing. They had searched every part of the house and didn't find so much as a fingerprint. No evidence. Not so much as a sign of a struggle.
"I got something!" Kevin called from the kitchen.
They all rushed back there and saw the backdoor open. The windows on the door were still intact.
"Looks like whoever did this picked the lock. And no prints either looked like the guy wore gloves"
"Sounds like someone had definitely been stalking Voight and Jordan" Hailey commented.
"Question is who?" Kim added.
"That's a lot of potential suspects. It could be anyone that Voight put away or we put away" Jay spoke up. "Maybe it could be someone Jordan turned down and they did this as revenge"
"This seems too sophisticated for a teenager to do. This was done by a pro and a damn good one too. It was someone who knew Hank and Jordan. Who probably had a grudge against them both" Antonio finally said.
"If that's the case, why take Adam?" Hailey asked.
"Opportunity. He saw Adam with Jordan, he figured he couldn't get to Hank yet so he took Adam. When Hank came back to check on them that must be when he took his chance"
Jay went on the back porch and he saw Hank's camera and a light on it was flashing. "Guys, we have a way to figure out who did it"
They managed to extract the footage from the camera and they all headed back to the district and gathered around watching it. The video played in black and white, it showed a tall figure walking to the back door and bending down picking the lock, opening the door and walking in.
"He's hiding his face, that could be anyone," Kim spoke.
"Hopefully he does show his face" Kevin commented.
They fast forwarded till they showed the guy going back out carrying Jordan, in the video he held the teen close to him. Unknowingly the camera caught a side way glance of his face and they all noticed it.
"Isn't that…" Jay trailed off.
"Tyler James," Antonio realized.
While
Hank continued to carry his daughter through the woods with Adam behind him, Jordan remained unconscious. The older man's arms were growing weak from carrying his daughter but he wasn't going to put her down. Not by a long shot.
Adam had seen his Sergeant's arms getting weaker as they continued to walk, he looked to him. "Sarge, I'll carry Jordan. Give your arms a rest"
"I'm fine Adam" Hank insisted.
"Your arms are about to give out, just give her here"
The older man sighed, his arms were killing him but he hadn't wanted to put his daughter down. And Adam was right; he felt like his arms were about to give any minute. They had stopped and Hank passed his daughter over to the young officer.
As carefully as Adam could he took his boss's daughter into his arms and carried her bridal style, they were half way through the woods. It seemed as if they were getting closer to the street.
Back at the cabin a tall dark skinned man had walked in and surveyed the scene, it was no other than Denny Woods. He bent down to the dead body that used to be Tyler.
"You had one job and couldn't even do that right" He muttered.
Leaving the cabin he went out and grabbed gasoline containers and poured it all through the house hoping to leave no evidence. Once all the gas had been poured throughout the house He had taken a couple of lighters and threw them. One on Tyler's body, once the body had lit up in hot flames he walked out the house and threw another lighter down at the front door.
He ran off the porch as the house was engulfed in bright orange-reddish flames. Once the entire house was up in flames he had taken off in the opposite direction to avoid getting caught. He was hoping this wouldn't get back to him.
Once the small trio had made it back to the street after what seemed like hours of walking they smelt something. Smoke. They turned and saw grais black smoke in the sky. Exactly where the cabin was. The two looked at each other. If they were all there and Tyler was dead. Who had lit the fire?
Hank had searched for his phone and thankfully he found it, he had a slight signal and hoped it would work. He called 911, he managed to get them to trace the call and hopefully help would be coming soon. As they waited the teen began stirring in Adam's hold.
"Hey there Sleeping Beauty" Adam slightly teased.
"Where are we?" Jordan's voice was weak.
"We made it back to the road"
"I feel like I got hit by a truck"
"I called for help, hopefully it'll be here soon" Hank told him. He had gone to his daughter, brushing her hair back. "You sure you're ok?"
Swallowing the dry lump in her throat she had given a slight nod. "I will be. Because not only do I have you and Adam watching my back. I have yours and mom's strength inside me to help and guide me"
With that said both men had a smile on their faces and Hank pressed a soft kiss to her head, not even a few minutes later they had heard sirens. The Firehouse 51 crew had pulled up, Boden had gotten out as did the others. Casey, Kelly and their crews had gone to put out the fire before it spread completely through the woods. Boden had Gabby and Brett check over Hank, Adam and Jordan.
"Guys we're ok, it's Jordan that needs the help. She has a sprained ankle, possibly bruised or broken ribs" Adam told the paramedics.
"Let's get her over to the ambo" Brett told them.
Gabby looked at the teen. "Jo, honey from a 1-10 how's the pain?"
"20" Jordan groaned. "Gabby, no…no pain meds. Don't give me anything"
"Jo-"
"Gabby please I can't. I've survived through worse, this is nothing"
"You can't allow yourself to suffer in pain"
"I'd rather suffer in pain. I want to stay clean"
"You won't get hooked or addicted I promise"
"I thought that before. You can hook me up to an IV for fluids but no meds"
If it was one thing Gabby knew about Jordan, she could be just as stubborn as her father if not more. She was one strong and tough kid, she would endure and suffer the most horrific pain to keep her sobriety intact. That took a lot of guts, not many people would. Especially a teenager.
They had her loaded up in the ambo and Brett began hooking an IV up to her wrist so fluids could get to her body. Gabby was down at her ankle to examine it and she looked at the teen.
"Jordan I'm gonna straighten your ankle, it looks like when you fell it dislocated out of place. This is going to hurt a lot. Are you sure you don't want anything?"
"Do what you gotta do"
Hank had gotten beside his daughter and took her hand, Sylvie had given her a towel to bite down on. This was going to hurt like a bitch. Jordan put the cloth towel between her teeth and bit down hard, breathing through her nose and she held her father's hand.
The dark-haired Dawson gave the teen a quick glance. "Alright Jo, on the count of 3, I'm gonna set your ankle. Are you ready"
The teen just nodded. She wanted to get this over with. Gabby looked back at her injured ankle. "On 3. 1…2…3"
Gabby twisted her ankle back in place, when the agonizing pain shot through her ankle Jordan screamed. The teen screamed as loudly as she could, most of it muffled by the towel. She squeezed her father's hand as tightly as she could, she leaned her head down into his shoulder crying from the agonizing, grueling, intense pain. So she wouldn't have a panic attack she kept taking deep breaths.
The female paramedic had wrapped her ankle and then put an ice pack on it to help with the swelling. The pain felt as it subsided but it kept pulsing in her ankle and on the side of her rib cage. Jordan had felt her eyes drooping closed the last thing she heard was.
"Get some rest sweetheart. We'll be home soon"
After that everything went black as she passed out once again.
When Jordan awoke this time, her eyes felt like weights were on her eyes. There was a strange odor in the air. It smelt clean. There was an annoying noise in her ear. Something was in her nose. When she had finally regained consciousness it had taken her a few minutes to blink the blurriness out of her eyes.
She tried to sit up only to feel that agonizing pain in her side again. She quickly grabbed her side and sat still waiting for it to go away.
"Easy kid, your ribs are in bad shape" Came a voice. It was Will.
"Will? What happened?" Jordan asked, as he helped prop her up.
"You passed out in the ambo. You've been out for a little while"
Everything had been coming back to her and it all had hit her. She then looked at him. "My dad, Adam. Where are they?"
"Relax kiddo. They're fine. They've been cleared. They had to run to the district to close the case but they'll be back soon. Everyone is just happy you're safe"
"I feel like I got hit by a truck"
"You definitely are gonna have to rest and take it easy Jo. You sprained your ankle pretty bad and broke a couple of your ribs"
The teen looked up at the redhead Halstead. "You didn't give me any pain meds did you? I can handle the pain"
Will had taken a seat by her and took her hand. "Jo, pain meds are ok to have as long as we monitor them. As long as we monitor them you won't lose your sobriety. But you can't just sit and allow yourself to be in all this pain. It's not good or healthy for you. I can give you just a small amount of Tylenol. It's completely safe. It won't do any harm"
She shook her head. "I don't know Will. It still scares me"
"It's understandable"
"Will did he um.. He didn't give me anything, did he?"
"We didn't find any drugs or alcohol in your system, the most we found was chloroform"
"I think I killed him"
That had completely stunned the Halstead. She had killed the guy? With her injuries he didn't think she could have taken anyone one. Jordan looked at him, tears glistening in her eyes.
"He wanted me to pick someone to die and…I shot him. I think I killed him"
"It's alright sweetheart, you did it in self defense. You won't be in trouble"
"Can you call my dad?"
"I can definitely do that. You have a visitor here, you want me to send him in?"
She frowned. Who'd be visiting her? If everyone was at the district who would be seeing her?
"Yeah, sure"
Will had left the room and let the person in. Denny waited for the door to close before he spoke.
"Hello little girl" He said smoothly.
The teen looked up and glared at him. "What the hell do you want?"
"I can't stop and see my good friend"
Jordan gave a harsh laugh and insistently regretted it as pain shot through her side, but she kept the glare on her face. "We are far from friends. Now I say again, what do you want?"
"You always must assume I want something"
"I don't assume anything. You clearly want something, you always do. You always have. I learned that a long time ago"
"I thought I'd come check to see how you're doing"
"Why would you do that? How'd you even know I was here unless…" The glare intensified in her eyes. "You did this, didn't you? You sent Tyler after me and my dad. Adam got in the way so he took him to"
"Very good theory. At least I can say this, I wasn't the one to fire the bullets that killed him"
"If you think you can hold this over me, think again. I shot him in self defense. He died, so what he deserved it"
"Ouch"
"I'll show you ouch if you don't leave me alone. My ankle and ribs might be injured but my hands still work perfectly. Try me asswipe"
"I'll see you around Jordan and good luck proving any of that back to me"
He had left the room and Jordan threw her head back on the pillow, Denny's words ringing in her head. I wasn't the one to fire the bullets that killed him. Jordan hadn't meant to kill him, if anything she only meant to injure him. The teen had thought the shots were non fatal but sadly she was wrong.
Her hands were shaking she looked down and saw them, she had balled them up to get them to stop. She couldn't get the shaking to stop. The teen didn't want to feel guilty but strangely enough she did. Taking a deep breath she had hoped she could get through this. She's handled and went through worse, if she could survive through that. She can make it through this. And nobody, not even the likes of Denny Woods would stop her. If it comes down to it, she'll put him down as well.
