Jordan- 13

Jordan stared at Jay wide-eyed in fear, tears fell from her eyes, sweat slid down from her forehead down her cheeks mixing with the tears. She held Erin's gun with shaky hands aiming it at him, adrenaline still pumping through her. The teen stood in front of Erin protectively, all the adults stood in shock.

Jay kept his distance back from her and held his hands out to her not wanting to frighten her further. He knew she was having a flashback and was in an episode. He had to play this carefully, none of them wanted to tell Hank anything bad happened to Jordan.

"Jordan, honey. It's ok. I'm not gonna hurt you. Give me the gun sweetheart" His voice was calm, gentle, and patient.

"I won't let you hurt us anymore" Jordan said tearfully, her voice filled with fear and panic. "I won't let you hurt me anymore"

Erin bent down to her level being very cautious. "Jordy, sweetheart, it's only Jay. He won't hurt us or you. I promise"

"Leave us alone Yates! I won't let you hurt us" The teen cried, keeping her eyes on Jay. The gun focused on him.

"I'm not him sweetheart, I give you my word," Jay assured her softly. "It's me Jay"

"I want my dad. I wanna go home"

"We can get your dad here. Just give me the gun sweetheart"

"No it's a trick"

"I promise you it's not"

Erin had looked back to Adam and Kevin and mouthed, 'Get Hank'

Without hesitation Adam had stepped out and went to call Antonio.

Meanwhile

Antonio had stepped outside the State Attorney's office to give himself a few minutes before going to try and talk to Hank again. Out of many things his stubborn ass boss could have done this might have been one of the craziest things he did. He put himself in jail, willingly so his daughter wouldn't have to testify.

If the senior detective would be honest he'd probably have done the same thing, if one of his children were in Jordan's shoes and had to testify against someone that could easily kill them. He'd put himself in jail so they wouldn't have to take the stand. Hank was doing everything a father would do to protect his child. He was broken out of his thoughts by his phone going off, getting a brief look at his phone he saw it was Adam.

"Yeah Adam, what's going on?" He replied, tiredly.

"Antonio you gotta get Hank here now, something's wrong with Jordan" Adam came on urgently.

That had woken the senior detective as his eyes went wide. "What happened?"

"She totally flipped out, she grabbed Erin's gun and is trying to take Jay out"

"We're on our way"

Hanging up he had run back in the building and down to where Hank was. The older man was still laying on the bench staring at the picture of his kids. He heard the cell door open and didn't look.

"I told you I ain't changing my mind" Hank spoke.

"We ain't got time for this Hank, something happened with Jordan" Antonio spoke, his voice filled with urgency.

The older man shot up from the bench looking at his senior detective with a worried look. "What happened?"

"Jordan stole Erin's gun and is currently holding it on Jay"

Without hearing another word Hank ran out the cell with Antonio behind him. The two men had run to the car, turning on the lights and sirens. Antonio had sped down the streets going to the safe house.

Jordan was still holding the gun on Jay, her hands still shaking. Erin was still bent down to her level rubbing circles on her back.

"It's alright Jordy, you're safe. We're safe. Jay is here to help protect us"

"It's not him, Erie. It's him. Yates" Jordan whimpered, choking on a sob.

Before Erin could get a word out the door opened and Antonio rushed in with Hank. Hank was in the lead, when he saw his daughter in the condition she was in his heart broke. The older man saw the fear and terror in her eyes, her hands shaking while holding the gun.

Bending down he was kneeling on the floor, a soft gentle look in his eyes. "Jo, baby. It's alright. You're safe. Give Erin the gun sweetheart"

"D-da..daddy?"

"That's right. You're safe sweetheart. I won't let anyone hurt you. Just give the gun to Erin"

"You swear he won't get me?"

"Nobody will ever hurt you again, I promise"

Carefully Erin grabbed the gun from the teen and put it back in her holster. Jordan ran to her father and grabbed him into a hug sobbing, the older father grabbing his daughter in a hug holding her tightly.

"I…I'm sorry…I'm sorry daddy….I…I thought.." Jordan made out through tears.

"Shh it's alright. We aren't mad at you. It's alright, you're safe. We won't let anyone hurt you. I won't let anyone hurt you"

The teen had held her father tightly as her sobs began to turn to soft whimpers and sniffles. Her eyes had suddenly felt heavy, her breathing began evening out. Hank had lifted her into his arms making her jump.

"Hey it's alright sweetheart, you're alright" He soothed her.

She gently wrapped her arms around his neck and laid her head on his shoulder and fell asleep. Hank had taken her upstairs and put her in the spare room, carefully he laid her in the bed gently and covered her up. Placing a gentle kiss to her head he watched as his little girl had fallen asleep.

Erin was at the door watching. "I'm so sorry Hank, I shouldn't have let her grab my gun. Everything happened so fast"

"It's not your fault. It's nobody's fault"

"I wanted to grab it but was afraid she'd fire it accidentally"

"She's safe that's all that matters"

She had gently taken his arm and guided him from the room so they wouldn't disturb the teen. The female detective had looked at him.

"Have you lost your mind? You put yourself in jail-" She was cut off.

"I'm doing what I have to do for Jordan. Until you're a parent Erin, you won't fully get it. I have to protect Jo and will do anything and everything I have to do for her"

"By putting yourself in jail?"

"If it stops her from testifying then yes"

"But if it gets a criminal off the street shouldn't that matter?"

"It does if she becomes a walking target that's not going to be her, over my dead body"

"Is there anything I can do to get you to change your mind?"

"I'm doing what I have to do, what would you do?"

The female detective waited a moment before responding. "Exactly what you're doing. But if it takes a criminal off the streets shouldn't that count for something? Jordy will have us to help her get through and to protect her. I know you're afraid but with you being afraid Jordy will be afraid. Show her it's ok to be afraid. You can help her get through this, be strong, and fight. We both know she's strong, brave and a fighter, now she needs for you to show it to"

Hank had stood there letting it sink in his head, Antonio had gone up to get Hank and had to take him back before they found out he was gone. Jay had gone up to see how Erin and Jordan were. Adam and Kevin had left.

Erin had laid next to her sister and gently brushed her hair back, Jay had bent down on the other side of the bed as he looked at his partner. "Everything good here?"

"I never thought I'd see that fear in her eyes again" Erin moved hair back from the teen's forehead.

"It wasn't your fault. It wasn't anyone's fault"

"What happened a few months back with Yates. Him kidnapping her, that was my fault. He used her to get to me, he killed people in front of her. She was so traumatized"

"That doesn't make it your fault Erin. He tricked her, he knew how to mess with her head and yours. There's no way you could have known he was going to take her"

"I should have known, if I had just stayed then maybe I could have protected her"

"Erin, listen this isn't your fault. You should get some rest. I got it from here"

Before she had known it Erin had fallen asleep and Jay covered her with a light blanket and kissed her head. He had made sure Jordan was asleep; he then had gone down to make them some lunch.

Just as he finished lunch he had heard footsteps and Jordan came down rubbing her eyes, dried tears on her cheeks. The young detective looked over at her and softly smiled.

"Hey kiddo, have a good nap?" Jay asked.

She nodded, still a tad out of it. "I'm sorry Jay"

He had gone over to her and bent down to her level and put a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Sweetheart you have nothing to be sorry for. I've been through exactly what you've been through. I know it's hard but just know you never have to be sorry for being upset and scared. And if you ever need help with any of it, just know you got me kiddo. Anytime day or night"

A small smile appeared on her face as she finally looked at him. "Thanks Jay"

"Anytime kiddo"

She hugged him and kissed his cheek. Jay hugged her and ran a hand on her back then pulled her back.

"Are you hungry?"

"Totally"

"I made pizza and chicken strips"

"That sounds good"

"Go wash up and I'll get you a plate"

Jordan had gone to wash her hands, Erin had come down to see Jay fixing plates of food. She smiled and went over.

"I didn't know if you could cook," Erin teased.

Jay smiled and turned to face her. "If you call cooking putting food in an oven and letting it sit there then I guess you can"

"It smells good"

"It's pizza and chicken strips"

"Definitely sounds good. I heard your talk with Jo"

"I thought maybe I could relate a little more to her with the PTSD and the episodes, I could help her get through it"

"You will be an amazing father some day"

"One day. Are you ready to eat?"

"Definitely"

"Go get washed up and I'll pop in a movie, we'll have a movie night"

"That actually sounds like fun"

"What sounds like fun?" Jordan asked, returning to the room.

"Movie night" Jay told her.

"Can we watch Harry Potter?" She just about bounced on her toes.

"We can watch whatever it is you want tonight"

After Erin had gotten washed up, she and Jay had taken the plates out to where the tv is and set them on the table while Jordan put the tv on and put Harry Potter on. The two detectives would suck it up for the teen's sake, she had deserved some kind of fun out of this crappy situation.

Jordan had put on the first movie, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone and was just about glued to the movie with Erin and Jay watching, both had smiles on their faces. Half of the movie had gone by, Jordan went from eating her food to laying on the floor glued to the tv. She hadn't noticed that Jay had gone to do a quick perimeter check while Erin stayed back with the teen.

When Jay had returned Jordan was off the floor and next to Erin on the couch, curled into the woman's side. The teen had been curled into his sister's side, clinging to her like a young child clinging to their mother. Going back to the couch he had sat down and the teen had laid her legs out across his lap making him chuckle.

"Do I look like a foot rest?" He teased.

"Maybe" Jordan chuckled a bit.

"Whatever you do, don't tickle her feet she will kick you" Erin teased.

The three had bursted into their fit of giggles and continued on watching the movie. By the second movie Jordan had fallen asleep laying on her sister. Erin had been holding her protectively. Quietly Jay had turned off the tv and threw a blanket on the two girls as they slept soundly.

He didn't wanna move Jordan and disturb them, they needed sleep. Especially Jordan in the morning she would be testifying and the kid needed all the sleep she could get. When he went to cut the light out a hand shot out and grabbed his hand, Jordan had briefly woken up.

"Jay, can you stay?" Her voice was soft and full of sleep.

He bent down to her level and brushed the loose strands of brown hair from her face, saw her brown eyes half open as if she tried to wake up.

"Of course I can stay, let me cut the light off" He answered just as softly.

She nodded and turned back into Erin going back to sleep. After cutting the light off and making sure the two girls were asleep and everything was quiet Jay had taken his spot back on the couch and fell asleep himself. Hopefully they have a smoother night. One could hope
