Jordan- 15

After her miscarriage Jordan had struck a friendship with Kyle. She nor him had told Hank or Adam about their friendship because they really didn't wanna get any heat from it. If anything the two shared a lot of pain and tragedy together. Jordan had lost her mother when she was a baby. Kyle didn't have a mother in his life, just a drunk bastard for a father. Jordan had lost her older and only brother Justin and her only sister in Erin. Kyle didn't have siblings at all.

Jordan had turned to drugs and booze to escape her pain and heartache after the loss of her brother, Kyle had done the same. He turned to it to escape his father's abuse unknowingly by doing it, it had turned him into his father.

Then the pair met at the party both were drunk and higher than kites, they had hooked up and later Jordan discovered she was pregnant with his baby. It had scared them both straight to want to change and clean up their lives. When Jordan had finally came to the decision of wanting to keep her baby, she unfortunately miscarried sending her and Kyle into another whirlwind of pain, heartbreak and tragedy once again. Life was truly one hell of a bitch.

Jordan knew her unborn child wouldn't want her or Kyle to spiral out of control again with their wild partying ways. Instead she chose to help Kyle when he was ready. The loss of his unborn child had made Kyle hit rock bottom he wanted to die just to see his child but instead he wanted to straighten his life out for the better.

One afternoon Jordan had just about ran to Kyle's after getting a frantic call from him wanting to end it. The teen desperately wanted to tell Adam but figured she'd try to help him and should things go south then she would call Adam in for back up.

She started beating on his front door. "Kyle! Kyle open the door dude! Open the door!"

Not getting any response she had kicked the door in and started searching the house. It was extremely cluttered with trash, bottles, old food containers. She had scrunched her nose smelling the awful smell.

"Kyle! Where are you?"

Hearing noise on the steps she gone to see and it was Kyle stumbling down the steps, he managed to catch himself using the rail. Jordan had rushed over to him and helped him sit on the step.

"Are you alright?" Her voice softened.

"I…I need help Jo. I can't be like this anymore. I'm sick of it" Kyle cried.

"Then we'll get you help. I can take you to a meeting. We can look into rehab centers"

"You can seriously do that?"

"You'd be surprised at who I know"

"Thank you Jo, I really appreciate it"

"You go get changed, I'll wait for ya"

Kyle had gone to change while Jordan had made a quick call. "I need your help, can you meet me in 15 minutes? I'll text you the address"

After her call she texted the address of a diner, soon Kyle had come down in fresh clothes. The two had left and went to a nearby diner and ordered some food and coffee. Kyle had downed his in sugar to help the shakes he has from his recent high. Jordan hadn't said anything she was in the same position as him not long ago. It wasn't fun coming off a high. And detoxing was a huge bitch.

Looking up from his hot coffee he saw Jordan sipping her own. "I'm sorry if I pulled you away from anything important"

"You didn't. Saved me from a book report but nothing big. Are you absolutely ready for help Kyle? You can make something of yourself you're still young. Do you have any ideas on what you wanna do?"

He stayed quiet for a moment. "Nobody's ever really asked me that before"

"I am now. You can do whatever you wanna do. All you have to do is put your mind to it"

"At one point I considered being a firefighter or paramedic. I wanna be able to help others"

"That's a good goal it is. I can't promise or guarantee anything but I do know people who work at a firehouse who can help you when you get clean and sober. I can try and talk to them for you"

"You'd.. You'd really do that?"

"Yeah, what else are friends for. Besides when I ratted you out the night we tried to run away together that was a dick move I pulled. I'm sorry for that, I was consumed with anger and grief"

"I get it. You lost your older brother, you were angry and hurt"

"Do you have any siblings?"

"Only child"

"Where's your parents?" She was afraid she was crossing boundaries. "I'm sorry if I'm getting to personal"

"No. It's fine. My mom was never really in my life, I don't know where she is and my dad, if you wanna call him that is a drunk abusive asshole"

"I'm sorry"

"Not your fault"

Adam had walked into the diner and when he saw Jordan he walked over to the table and sat down to see his informant. He was surprised but looked to the teen for an answer.

"Kyle and I are friends, I'm helping him get on a good path. He does want help and no we haven't done anything" Jordan told him. "Can you help me get him to a rehab?"

"Of course I can" He looked to his informant. "Are you ready?"

Kyle nodded. "Thank you for this Adam it means a lot"

"Anytime"

After the food was finished and Jordan left some money on the table they had left. Adam drove them to a clinic and helped Kyle check in, the staff allowed Jordan and Adam to stay for just a little while.

The young guy looked between Jordan and the officer. "I can't thank you guys enough for this. I promise, I'll do my very best"

"That's all anyone can do. Just focus on yourself and getting better" Adam told him.

"I'll try to visit as much as I can if you want me to. I know detoxing will be hard and a royal hell" Jordan commented.

"I don't wanna be my parents. I wanna be better than them, if I hadn't called you I probably would be dead right now and I don't wanna die. I wanna make something of myself, be a person Anna would be proud of"

Jordan choked up hearing him say their daughter's name, she felt Adam squeeze her hand gently. "She would be really proud of you for making this change in your life. I know it"

"She would be extremely proud of you too. You're turning your life around, you went back to school, you hold your head high and don't care what others think. You're helping me. Anna would be proud to have a mother like you"

The teen gave a wobbly smile as tears ran down from her eyes, she walked over and hugged him. "I'll be here when you get out"

"Thank you Jo"

When they pulled apart she kissed his cheek and he kissed hers in return. One of the staff had told Adam and Jordan it was time for them to go. They had left and stood outside leaning against the car. Adam looked at the young teen.

"I'm very proud of you kid" Adam told her.

"I wanted him to have some kind of support system. His mom left him, his dad is a drunk abusive asshole. He doesn't have anyone"

"And now he has you and he'll have me. We'll be his family. Family is more than just blood, family is those who cares about you, that'll fight for you, that'll go to the end of the world for you. We'll be his support system when he gets out"

"How does a parent just walk out on their kid? His mom just left him like it was nothing. How does someone just stomach like?" She wiped her eyes.

"They think in their heads that they aren't cut out to be parents and not knowing what to do, they leave"

Jordan had hugged her stomach and remembered finding out about her pregnancy, being pregnant with her daughter and then losing her. The teen looked up at the cloudy sky as fresh tears pooled and started to leak.

"Do.." Her breathing hitched as she got choked up. "Do you think I would have been a good mom to her Adam?"

"Jo you would have been a great mother to your little girl"

"I just still don't see why she died. I did everything right, I had just started taking the prenatals, I was eating right, exercising, avoiding stress. Why did she die? She didn't even get a chance to live or do anything" Jordan had started to cry.

Without a second thought Adam pulled her into a hug and held her as she cried, he gave her a brotherly kiss to her head. Jordan had gripped his jacket as tightly as her fingers would let her. Adam knew how bad the miscarriage killed Jordan and Kyle, he wouldn't wish this pain on anyone let alone two kids.

After calming down Jordan pulled away and wiped her eyes. "Kyle will be in good hands here. The staff will treat him good"

"You know this place?"

"This was the rehab I went to. I became close with some of the staff in my time here"

"You're following in your dad's footsteps kid. You did a good thing today"

"Hopefully we can make sure he stays on the right track. He wants to be a firefighter or paramedic"

"I think we can make a stop by 51 on the way back"

"You're the best Adam"

"Back at ya kiddo, lets go before it rains"

The two had gotten in the car and Jordan looked at the clinic and thought about how Adam said she was following in her father's footsteps and she was. She would do her father and her family name proud.
