Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Contaminated Crusaders. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own MHA Shonen Jump, Kohei Horikoshi and a few others do.
Aace cracked his neck and looked at Mina. He pulled the whitish silver hood over his head.
His claw like gloves had a few energy waves designs on the back of the gloves. Aace wiped off the silverish grey pants which had wave like neon lines. These connected from his pants, up his shirt and along his arms.
Aace checked his whitish jacket which showed neon drawings of his personal drawings. Mina spotted Aace's metallic helmet which was similar to a futuristic snow-white batman like helmet. A greyish long sleeve shirt stood under his helmet. It had a cog like symbol on the forehead. Aace wore snow white combat boots with the cog symbol on the tongue.
Matching this was a giant 'M' on the chest. Aace had decided on his hero name… Mercury.
"Geez, you put a lot of effort into that costume." Mina said with a smirk while Aace hummed and shrugged at Mina.
Mina wore a plain white mask over her face. Aace could see a purple and turquoise bodysuit with a camo pattern. Aace hummed at her choice of how the pattern ended just above her chest.
Mina also wore a cropped, sleeveless tan waistcoat over this. Aace blinked and adjusted his mask as Mina brushed over the white fur of the coat. Aace also noticed Mina took his advice on getting some sort of acid proof clothing.
Her plum violet and beige acid proof boots had holes in them. Aace knew it helped her move around the battlefield better.
"I kind of designed it to deal with things like protecting my body, Mi." Aace said before flexing one of his gloved hands. "They went a bit overboard from the design I wanted. It looks nice, all things considered." Aace said before looking at Mina.
"When's your match?" Aace questioned his friend. He had been assigned as the opponent of a rather new student. 'Gearhead, a student who had mental control over computers. The only thing Aace knew about this? That his enemy was decently skilled at hand to hand and could make nice gadgets.
Thankfully? Said gadgets weren't yet approved by the school. Aace would wait till he was on the battlefield to determine a proper strategy.
"Ok, let's do this." Aace said before pulling his helmet over his head and cracking his neck. Mina watched as her friend walked out onto the field.
Aace blinked and looked around. The circle like arena reminded him partly of gladiator colosseums and partly of baseball stadiums.
"Ok, 'Gearhead'." Aace said as he closed his eyes and immersed himself in the persona of Mercury.
Maybe people didn't know it yet, and maybe MHA didn't either. But that was what Aace chose to name himself as.
"Ah, so you're my foe." Mercury heard as he narrowed his eyes. "Splendid, shall we engage in battle?" Gearhead asked his opponent.
Gearhead dressed in an outfit that made Mercury wonder if he was from the 50s. A computer bursting with energy sat on his arms as a symbol. Rain like combat boots crunched as he walked back and forth. He wore blue rubber like gloves which made Mercury blink. He also wore a purplish bodysuit with a planet like helmet. Mercury blinked at this.
"Should I even ask?" Mercury questioned his fellow hero only for the teenager to rush him.
Mercury sidestepped the charge as Gearhead blinked and turned around. Mercury began to take note of his surroundings. Mercury knew that he was not going to win a hand to hand fight.
Still? Mercury didn't feel like he was going to use his quirk unless he had been backed into a corner. Mercury sighed and prepared for a fist fight.
Gearhead paused and went to throw a punch at Mercury before he ducked the hit at his face. Mercury responded by kneeing the teenager backwards.
Mercury blinked and turned to one of the metal containers scattered over the arena. It took him a second to remember something. The various teachers of the school designed the arena with information on each quirk.
Mercury sighed and reached out to grab a metal container as Gearhead rose to his feet. He grabbed another with his other hand as they orbited his head.
"Hand to hand? Really?" Mercury asked his opponent. Gearhead raised his hand which crackled with red energy. A turret loaded with rubber bullets rose from the ground.
"Crap!" Mercury hissed as he moved the containers to block the rounds. Metal pinged as rounds echoed off the containers, denting them.
Gearhead charged from behind and tackled Mercury to the ground. Mercury brought his armored hands up to block the blows as Gearhead rained down punches on him.
"Your decent, but it will require far more than that!" Gearhead said before raising his fist. Mercury responded by punching Gearhead back and grabbing his arm.
Mercury raised his other hand and slammed a container into Gearhead. Gearhead tumbled along the ground.
"Like that?" Mercury asked with a raised eyebrow and brushed off his gauntlet clad armor. "Rubber bullets, huh?" Mercury questioned himself. He was beginning to realize that this was going to be a tougher fight then he thought.
"GO AACE!" Mercury heard and scanned the stands to see Mina pumping her fist at him.
"That girl is something else." Mercury said with a chuckle before another turret raised itself. Mercury sighed and rushed to the side.
'These turrets are going to be an issue. I get hit? I won't be getting back up easy.' Mercury thought to himself. 'Plus, I have the advantage in a head on fight with my quirk. I just have to think of a way to neutralize them or turn them against him.' Mercury thought to himself as he rolled behind another container.
Mercury was well aware that even 2 or 3 rubber bullets would knock him out. His armored costume still offered limited protection from ballistic attacks.
"Oh, now you're taking the defensive?" Gearhead asked which made Mercury sigh. "C'mon, unless you're scared!" Gearhead taunted his enemy.
"Says the hero hiding behind automated turrets!" Mercury shouted as he started to mentally run though his options and make a plan.
A direct attack meant dealing with automated guns. He knew for a fact that was tactical suicide. He couldn't rely entirely on his quirk or the strain would weaken him.
Aace hummed while cracking his back. Gearhead's quirk had to have a weakness he could exploit.
Mercury decided to see if there was a way to take the turrets and turn them on Gearhead. If he could accomplish that?
Then he could win. He held up his hand which glowed bright black.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter done! I should point out the fact that this fight will be broken up a bit. I didn't want to have Mercury fight and win or such against a named hero right away. Next chapter will be in a week and show Mina watching the fight and her thoughts on it. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
P.S: Next chapter is 900 words; Rumi is 1200 tomorrow. Mina's story will have chapters anywhere from 900 words to 2000 with 2000 mainly being action scenes. Ash is unknown currently.
