R is for Repaid Debt
Castiel looked down at the small bottle in his hands. He felt the pull of his grace. It was calling to him. There was no mistake, this was his. Fiona had done the impossible. She had found his grace, but how?
"Thank you, Fiona," Fiona panted.
"Will you hold still," Sam asked as he attempted to stitch up her side.
"Now, why would I do that, Sammy? That might actually make your job easier," Fiona replied, glaring half-heartedly at the taller Winchester.
"How?" Dean asked, not taking his eyes off Castiel.
Castiel hadn't taken his eyes off his grace. He was torn. On the one hand, they had been looking for this for years. On the other hand, he had adjusted to and accepted his human life with Dean. Dean was on edge too. This changed things.
"It's a long story," Fiona replied.
"Start talking," Dean said, turning to her finally.
"Well, you know how I owed you guys for saving my life from Alaric and his vampiric ways," Fiona started.
"We know how we met Fiona. What we don't understand is how you found Cas' grace," Dean said impatiently.
"Don't mind him. We just weren't expecting this," Castiel said quickly. "Can you tell us how you got this please?" He took a seat across from the blonde woman.
"Certainly, Cas," Fiona said, glaring at Dean. He just stood next to Castiel and crossed his arms over his chest.
"So I made you a promise to help find your grace after we heard a rumor that it was out there somewhere," Fiona explained.
"Yeah, we didn't think you'd actually be able to do it," Sam said, examining his stitch work on her side.
"Me either, but I knew it was more than a rumor. Too many demons and angels were talking about it. I had to track it down. It was the least I could do for all that you boys have done for me," Fiona said, smiling at Sam.
"We are just trying to help," Sam said.
"Enough, let's get to the story about the grace," Dean said, cutting into their moment.
"Dean-" Sam said.
"Right, sorry, anyways, I heard a rumor that it was in hell being guarded by a demon named Meg. She was a real piece of work," Fiona said.
"Meg?" Sam asked, shocked. He looked to Dean and Castiel. They both looked surprised.
"She said you might be surprised, but she's still kicking down there, had to make a few deals or something to that effect," Fiona said.
"How did you get into hell," Dean asked, finally getting into the story.
"I mean, I'm a hunter associated with the Winchesters now. I just have to say the right name, make the right deals, and before I knew it was in purgatory looking for a vampire named Benny to lead me to the entrance to hell," Fiona said.
"Benny?" Dean asked.
"He says hello, by the way," Fiona added with a smirk.
"Deals?" Sam asked.
"Don't worry, Moose, I haven't sold my soul, not that Crowley didn't try," Fiona said, smiling at Sam.
"So you made it to hell. How did you find Meg?" Castiel asked.
"She was being tortured. They knew she had your grace, and they were trying to get it from her. Along comes Fiona to save the day. I killed a few demons, raised a little hell myself, and proved my loyalty to you guys. She took me to her hiding place and gave it to me, making me promise to return it to Cas. She, however, stayed behind to seek vengeance on those who imprisoned her. She did say one thing," Fiona said.
"Save my unicorn," Castiel said slowly as he looked at the bottle of grace.
"Yeah, how did-" Fiona started, confused.
"We go way back with Meg," Dean said, looking at Castiel.
"She's a demon, I never thought of-" Castiel said.
"It's in the past," Dean said, quickly jumping up. He looked to the vial of grace. He picked up the vial looking at it intently. "You have a decision to make."
"Dean, I-" Castiel started.
"This is your decision Cas and yours alone," Dean said, setting the bottle down.
"Cas," Sam said slowly.
"I can't," Castiel said slowly.
"This is what we've been looking for," Sam said.
"I went to hell and back for this, literally. I almost died for this," Fiona said, a little angry.
"I can't, I'm sorry," Castiel said. He jumped up and left the room. Dean stood there a moment before he followed after him.
Fiona stood there in shock and anger, her mouth gaping. Did he not understand what she had gone through for this?
"Fiona, he needs time. They just found the perfect family for Bobby," Sam said slowly.
"What? He's leaving? What does that have to do with his grace," Fiona asked.
"He's got the perfect family right here," Sam said slowly.
"What do you mean?" Fiona asked, confused. "I thought-"
"He's got two dads who love him, an uncle who will teach him how to be cool, a badass grandma, and an awesome kickass aunt," Sam said.
"Aunt? What are you saying, Sam Winchester?" Fiona asked coyly.
"We keep dancing around this," Sam said slowly.
"Honestly, I just assumed we were together. Judging from the Cas and Dean stories I heard, I figured it was just something we didn't talk about," Fiona admitted.
"Why are you so perfect for me?" Sam chuckled.
"Besides, your mom already calls me the daughter she never had," Fiona chuckled.
"Ok, then." Sam smiled at her.
Fiona rolled her eyes. She grabbed him and pulled him into a kiss. They didn't need to say anything more.
