U is for Unicorn
Dean watched as Castiel stood looking over the garden outside the bunker. Castiel has recently planted a flower garden with help from Mary and Fiona. It wasn't much, but it had the desired home effect Castiel had been going for. It definitely added a pop of color to the place. Dean had been wary of the garden. He didn't exactly want people to know this place was inhabited. For all the town knew, it was some mine of doomsday bunker that the Winchesters had taken over.
However, Dean couldn't say no to Castiel when he requested that they liven the place up. Dean had to admit that Castiel did a great job making the bunker feel like home, but maybe it wasn't the interior or exterior decorating. Perhaps it was the angel and the toddler that they had welcomed into their lives.
Castiel was something else. He didn't take any of Dean's crap and called him on it often. He could go toe to toe with the hunter and come out victorious. That wasn't something that Dean let happen with others. Castiel was different, though he was special. He was his unicorn. As much as he had despised that name initially, with it having come from Meg, he now understood it. Castiel was one of a kind, and there was no one quite like him. He was as rare as the mythical creature.
"Dean," Castiel said, sensing the hunters' presence behind him.
"Cas," Dean replied, walking up to the angel.
"I've been thinking," Castiel said slowly.
"Never a good sign," Dean said. He stepped beside his angel, placing an arm around him, and pulling him close.
"We can't live in the bunker forever," Castiel said, looking down at his garden.
"I was wondering when this was gonna come up," Dean sighed, "I know with Bobby getting older, we should probably look for an actual home."
Castiel looked up at the hunter, surprised. He had not been expecting that answer. Dean smiled at him, leaning over and pecking him on the cheek.
"We have to put our family first, Cas," Dean replied, "I've also been thinking about getting him into school soon, like, don't they have preschool for toddlers and shit. He needs to socialize with kids his own age and whatnot. He can't just be around us and Sam and Fi."
"Ok, who are you, and what have you done with my Dean?" Castiel teased.
"Ha ha, but seriously, he needs to interact with kids his own age and learn how to be normal," Dean said, "well normal-ish." he corrected himself.
Castiel smiled and turned to face the hunter fully. Dean grinned as he was greeted with that smile that he loved. He took Castiel's face in his hands and kissed him gently. It was full of love and what he could not express with his words.
"I love you," Castiel said once they parted.
"Love you too, my unicorn," Dean said, earning a blush from the angel.
