A.N. - I love me some side characters. I almost never like the main character the best. The folks barely mentioned have the richest possibilities for development. That said, I also greatly dislike the epilogue. I will literally do a drabble on Hassan Mostafa before touching any of the 19 years later group. So here, have a better-known ref.
7. Rolanda Hooch
Despite her oft-noted hawk-like eyes, Rolanda Hooch was not an animagus. Sometimes, she desperately wished she was. Perhaps, if she could soar via her own wings rather than Hogwarts' motley collection of brooms, she'd be able to save more firsties from harm.
Every introductory flying lesson devolved into two groups: the confident (usually pureblood) bullies, and their (generally muggleborn) targets. Her attention was simply spread too thin to mediate all potential problems. Inevitably, there were hurts. And it galled, that despite her skill on a broom and fairness as a Quidditch referee, it was never enough to save them all.
