14. Susan Bones
When aunt Amelia was murdered by Voldemort himself, Susan thought she already knew grieving intimately. Instead, she spent two years in a malaise.
She ghosted through sixth year, barely concentrating on lessons. She became known for that and her ever-present worrying over who'd be killed next. Susan hid away, fleeing both terror and reality, when Death Eaters breached Hogwarts.
Seventh year was a new kind of torture. Being surrounded by enemies at least kept her from drifting again. And, when the final battle started, Susan's resolve coalesced. This was her battle, always had been. It was time to step up.
