A.N. — The lack of named students in Harry's age range will eventually be biting me and lead to a lot more drabbles about adults. For now, there's a lot of barely-mentioned students to flesh out. On an unrelated note, seeing a new favorite for a long-dormant HP story of mine made me realize I should probably mention I do have a handful of other Harry Potter stories/poems posted, if this isn't quite your cup of tea.
18. Sue Li
Li was a common name, in China. At Hogwarts, it made Sue stick out.
She accepted the stares and hushed gossip at first. Attention was a path to acceptance, or at least a way to fit in. But as the years wore on, the novelty wore off.
The darkness growing in the wizarding world was mirrored in Sue's countenance. She used her wit to start rumors. Her repertoire of curses grew, practiced on those foolish enough to try her patience when they acted on her words.
Sue's anonymity was hard-fought for. The shadows were hers; the grey was her home.
