A.N. — One of my favorite little details in book 5 is this particular incident, an easy thing to dismiss as just another Gryffindor/Slytherin spat. But then the vanishing cabinet got brought back in book 6. It gets remembered; the student sent through it unwillingly does not.

20. Graham Montague

Joining the Inquisitorial Squad was supposed to bring him more respect. His Slytherin quidditch captaincy was nice, but three-quarters of the school still hated him on principle. Aligning himself with a body of authority, then, seemed wise for his future prospects.

Then the Weasley twins shoved him into hell and he nearly killed himself getting out.

Now, instead of raising his social standing, Graham could barely raise his head. He couldn't even shoo away his spoiled seeker, Draco Malfoy. Graham told him horror stories of his vanishing cabinet limbo to scare him off. Instead, the blonde listened in thoughtful silence.
