Chapter Seven

A Chat

Dave Batista sat in his locker room at Raw, with John's laptop unfolded in front of him. He was logged in on Messenger as John Cena. John was of course okay with this development, as Raw's newest transfer was sitting right beside Dave. "Oh, look, Cassie's online. Show must have ended early for her. Just click here and type whatever you want to say to her, okay?" He nodded. Dave hated to admit it, but he was technologically illiterate. So he just followed John's instructions.

Hey, Cassie, he typed into the screen. He snorted when he saw John's display name was "The Champ Is Here". John shot him a look.

At the arena, Cassie's computer lit up with an alert. She was fresh out of the shower, her caramel hair plastered against her face in limp waves. Her brown eyes lit up when she saw it was from John. OMG! Cena! She typed in response, feeling her smile becoming wider. He had only been gone a week, and she missed him. But he had become too big for SmackDown. The red brand was where he needed to be.

Dave smiled. Actually, it's Dave. John's with me, though. He's teaching me about this computer stuff you two do. Want me to say hi for you?

She smiled. John had made a friend. You know it. Hi, Dave. How is it going? Hi, John, we really, really miss you on SmackDown!

Dave relayed the message and John laughed. "You can tell her I miss everyone over there, too."

Cena says he misses you, too. He misses everyone on the blue brand. How are you doing?

I'm happy now, she typed. I've been so upset since John went over to Raw. I hate Eric so much!

I can imagine, Dave typed out with a laugh. John was over his shoulder now, reading their exchange. You should try to get over here to Raw.

Cassie smiled, but she shook her head as she typed her reply. Sorry, boys, but I got that SmackDown brand loyalty thing going on. I'd rather work for Theodore than for Eric.

Rats.

Cassie's face darkened. Is this really Dave? Because if you're ribbing me, John, so help me God...

Dave laughed. No ribbing here, Cassie. It really is Dave, but John is with me.

Prove it. Dave smirked. She was a feisty one.

You really wanted to ride a Double-Decker bus...

Cassie smiled. She had never told John that. Only Dave would know. Hi, Dave. How are my champions doing?

Great. We're just in the middle of Raw right now. We thought we would see what you are doing and keep you company.

This has made my day. Great job boys, and great job with Hunter at Backlash, Dave. Can't wait for your Hell In A Cell match at Vengeance. Dave smiled. Cassie was very quickly becoming his biggest fan. He read her words of encouragement and felt a surge of warmth in his heart. Tell John he's got Christian and Jericho in the bag. It's nothing.

"We got our own personal cheerleader here, don't we?" Dave laughed to John. He nodded.

Cena says thanks for the optimism. He hates Eric, too.

There's got to be a fan club for that out there somewhere, Cassie typed, prompting laughter from Dave and John.

What are your plans for tonight?

Lasagna in the oven and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 in the DVD player. What are your plans?

Painting the town red with John here.

No matter what John tries to tell you, she typed, Jack Daniels will not be the cure to all of your worries and problems. Nice try, though, John.

"She is too good," John commented. Dave had to laugh. When she had started, John had talked her into getting drunk with him. She had never drank Jack Daniels before that night, or after that night.

I'll remember that, Dave typed. If I can survive two years with Ric Flair, though, John Cena won't be a problem.

I wouldn't dismiss him, Cassie advised. On some nights, I'm pretty sure he could drink the Nature Boy under the table.

The WWE Champion appreciates your praise and says he will not shame you tonight. Cassie smirked as she read that response. Did you have fun in London?

She smiled, recalling their night together in the rain. I did. I had a wonderful time. Thanks for tagging along with me.

We should do that again sometime. Cassie felt herself blush. He actually wanted to hang out with her again.

Well, next time we go to Japan, we should ride the Bullet.

What? Dave's mind was in the gutter, and he didn't want to tip off John about that. He felt himself blush a little.

The bullet train, she typed. Remember? Japan has one? The world's fastest train...

Right. We should totally do it. Who knows? If John's with us, we could probably talk him into coming to.

Cassie's eyes narrowed. Do you really think he'd go for it? John was as fearless as they came, but he was also the type that liked to be in control of everything.

He's saying hell yeah over here.

Awesome. It's a date then. I hate to do this, but I've got to go. I need to talk to Vince about something and get some stuff done before I can go back to the hotel. Thanks for chatting with me, you guys. Bye.

Everyone said their goodbyes and Cassie shut her laptop. Now she felt like she was on cloud nine. She felt a lightness in her step as she put her laptop back into her bag and took off to find Vince. On the other side of the computer, Dave shut John's laptop and sighed.

"I felt so good, and now..."

"Just what is up with the two of you anyway?" John asked him.

"I got it bad for her, man," Dave admitted. "I mean, what can I say? She's funny, she's a walking wrestling encyclopedia, and she's hot."

John laughed. "She's a sweet girl. Just be careful with her. Anyway, I need to get going for my match. I'll see you after the show to tear shit up." Dave nodded and John left the room, leaving Dave alone with his thoughts about Cassie.
