A.N. — I could easily do a handful of drabbles on this particular woman. I stuck with what most ghosts fixate on: the moment of their demise. I also could've paired this one off, but the themes felt too similar to put back-to-back.
36. Helena Ravenclaw (The Grey Lady)
Helena was so furious, feeling a knife slipped between her ribs, that it wasn't even a conscious thought on her part to linger to see justice served on her attacker. Leaving her body behind to do so seemed inconsequential.
She desperately wanted to kill the Baron herself, but by the time she'd re-materialized as an apparition, the "noble" had already done the deed. The burden of vengeance weighed heavy for Helena, and returning to Hogwarts with his spirit an unwelcome hanger-on only deepened her agony.
Centuries of sorrow gave way to near-mute diligence. The Grey Lady was born, perpetually placid.
