A.N. — I finally get to match something with the book's timeline again! On this date, in Harry's third year, he won the Quidditch Cup. Today's subject, though, was on the losing side of that decisive game. He also is such a loser that he's yet another example of not making ff.n's character list (despite having a fairly cool name).
106. Peregrine Derrick
Peregrine (Grin to his friends) was a happy bloke, by Slytherin standards. He was always ready with a joke; most were viciously cutting and at the expense of Gryffindors. As a beater on the quidditch team, Peregrine was also quite fit by wizarding standards.
None of that helped him, though, when (after a thoroughly dirty match on both sides) it was Gryffindor that overcame a 200-point deficit in the Cup standings to clinch victory. Grin's nickname was nowhere to be found as he trudged off the pitch with the rest of his dejected teammates.
Next year, Peregrine vowed, they'd succeed.
A.N. 2 — Of course, next year the Triwizard Tournament came to Hogwarts and poor Peregrine lost his last year of quidditch due to the season being canceled. My original draft of this was all about that particular misfortune.
