A.N. — And now, for something totally different from the last string of drabbles. The actor who played this fellow in Prisoner of Azkaban died on this day, so here's a tribute. Also, he's apparently a Gryffindor; that's news to me.
123. Ernest "Ernie" Prang
Ernie can't remember the last time he was home; those beds weren't just for paying passengers.
He'd lived a life in transit, staring eternally out a windscreen at the countryside's pastoral vistas and the cityscape's magnificent edifices. For all that, though, Ernie never seemed to heed the goings-on inside the Bus — nor people in general.
The steering wheel might as well be a foreign object for all the attention Ernie paid it. Those disembarking the vehicle agreed: the bespectacled pilot obviously knew nothing about actually safely conveying folks anywhere. Perhaps baskets slung under thestrals hadn't been such a bad idea.
