Near the sea port of Proptor, a week before the Coda village evacuation.
3rd POV
It's been a long journey. The remaining legionaries of the expeditionary force that had successfully fled the bloodbath of the world beyond. They had made their stop in the capital to resupply before carting off the new slaves to Proptor. There they will sell of the slaves to work as galley slaves. Force to row the massive boats all across the blue sea for the glory of the Empire. However, the journey has been too long and hard. One slave was quite chatty, much to their annoyance. As punishment they beat the man before forcing him to cut the wood for their fire. As a group of seven sat by the fire each one discusses exactly what will they do, now that the enemy had captured Alnus Hill. All while failing to notice one slave was picking the lock with a discarded chicken bone.
"I'm telling you. I won't do it." An imperial soldier comments before ripping a chunk of flesh from his mutton bone.
"But the empire. How can you leave it to its fate when the enemies are at the gate?" One young soldier asked.
"You weren't their son. The enemy had weapons of war that rivaled the gods themselves." An elder soldier remarks as he crosses his arm.
"All the more reason we need to stand together." One legionary soldier who was the son of a minor noble states. "We have faced worse in the artic war, the empire shall prevail over these savages."
"And if it doesn't?" One Legion asked.
"… Well, suppose once I learn how this foreign pipe works, I can scrape by a small living to get me north." A man said as he tried to play a S snub nose as a pipe. "Heard those Volralden bitches can keep a man warm just by smuggling them."
"Tsk, I'll say." The oldest remarks in agreement. "One time, we had this 'misbehaving' Volralden mercenary pack. So we imprisoned the men, poisoned their meals, and fucked their spear sisters ra… aw?"
Play "Rusty Cage' Tributed by Christian Larsson
You wired me awake
And hit me with a hand of broken nails
You tied my lead and pulled my chain
To watch my blood begin to boil
Before the old man could finish, he noticed something hidden, in the fire. A piece of wood had burned and cracked away to reveal something. He kneels down to get a closer look. Curious the other soldiers gathered around to see what he was eyeing. In the center of the pile of sticks was a small metal pipe of sort. It just sat there, doing nothing. As the seven wondered why it was there, the oldest notice that it was expanding. Before he could even ask what is it, the thing exploded. There screams can be heard as their bodies were pierced by hundreds of sharp objects.
But I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
The blast killed two of them. The son of a noble got up to find his entire right hand was shredded. As he screams, the Oldman looked at his arm. Deeply implanted into his arm was multiple sheets of hardened paper. Plucking one out to take a closer look he was bashed against the head.
I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
During the midst of the confusion, a young lad picked the lock and sneaked over to the chained-up man. Who turned out to be Zeke. After undoing his chain he simply grabbed a log and waited for the makeshift card pipe bomb to go off. On que he approached the downed soldier before bashing his head in.
Too cold to start a fire
I'm burning diesel, burning dinosaur bones
I'll take the river down to still waters
And ride a pack of dogs
The other soldiers took notice to Zeke bashing in their commanding legate's head in. Quickly trying to get to their feet, they were attacked by two elves who had snatched their blades from the ground slit their throats with their own blades.
I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
As the small group of slaves butchered the soldiers, two of them realized the futility of fighting. They quickly ran to their steads. As they were about to, the youngest of two was swat against the side of the head before a chain was wrapped around his neck with Vic on top of him.
I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
The Youngest croaked out for help but the noble didn't even looked back. His blood shouldn't be spilled in the pursuit of protecting the low born. As he struggled to wrap his hand around the reins of his hoarse, he managed to get away. But not for long.
When the forest burns along the road
Like God's eyes in my headlights
When the dogs are looking for their bones
And it's raining icepicks on your steel shore
Zeke had retrieved the pistol. As disgusting as it was covered in soggy spit, he checked the wheel to find six unused 32. Specials, still inside. He takes aim and slowly exhales before pulling the trigger. The view shifts focuses to the bullet as it slowly moved through the scene.
I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
The bullet sailed through the night sky. As it slowly goes through the fleeing legionary the view is blured from the grey matter and blood splatter burst. The view returns to Zeke who watched the fleeing guard falls to the ground. He quickly stuffed the revolver into the back of his trousers.
I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
Back by the campfire, the slave had begun to ransack the food. Half mad with starvation they stuffed their faces with mutton and other rations. A few who had their fill brought some food to those who were weak from malnourishment. As they did, Zeke walked over to the only living soldier that was being held down by Vic.
I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
At first the young guard ranted on and on about how if they didn't let him go the full might of the empire will come down on them. However that bravado died when Zeke killed that man with great distance. Now standing over him the Legion soldier was pissing himself begging to be spared. Offering riches, women, a spot in the military if they spared his life. Zeke kindly respond by stomping on his face.
I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
On the road to Italica, three weeks after the coda village evacuation.
The view remained dark for a few moments pulls back to show the scene has completely changed from the cold woodland area to the pleasant summer fields of the south. As the view settles in two M3A1's and a 1942 Harley-Davidson WLA Drove down the road. In the jeep was a few familiar faces of Third Recon, as well as a few others. While command was waiting for Mountaineers to touch down in the northern mountains referred to as the mountain range of Ice and Snow, three of the refugees came forth. They were afraid that they will become destitute once the war was over. Despite General White's insurance they wish to travel to Italica. Apparently, those dragons the army had shot down and left to rot was worth something. They were rather fragile to the standard 306. And other then their appeal had no real value. So with permission the refugees were allowed to strip the beast of all it's scales. By the end of the day, they had enough to rebuild Coda village five times over and still have enough. Now came the trouble of selling them. Italica was the closest town nearby with a huge trading station. When presented General White saw this as an opportunity to seize this important trade city out from underneath the clutches of the empire. He requested that the girls wait a few days, before he has third Recon ready. Three days later, they were off. Armed with basic equipment and a smaller team the nine members of third recon were on the road.
Their official mission was to escort the three to the city for them to do trade. Unofficially, they were to give the head of House Formal a letter from Colt. Letting them know he is still alive, the deal he made with the Americans, and that he will hand over the city them. It also went over the things that will happen with number one being that nobody will be enslaved. It was their best chance of capturing the city without bloodshed. As the two cars drove along the open road, the view pulls on Eastwood, holding a letter. Not the one he is to deliver, rather a letter from home. From his wife. First, she wrote in anger how long it took him to write back to her, and how could he go through another war. Followed after that she misses him, pray that he survives, and that she felt the baby kicking. Hearing that, brought a tear to his eye. As he stares intently at the letter a few begin to notice.
"… So, Eastwood. What do you have there?" Rory asked as she leans forward.
"A letter." Eastwood said as he folds the letter and tucks it into his pocket. "From my wife."
"Oh, never knew you were a married man." Rory mused with a smug smile. For some reason Eastwood finds her to be possibly the most childish of everyone he had met. Even the fifteen-year-old wizard was more mature then her. Before he could open his mouth to comment Lelei speaks up.
"What is she like?" Lelei asked with some interest in a semi crude English dialogue. Despite that, she has come a long way with her English. Impressive for a girl her age. "You had stated, before you were married… but what is she like?"
"Well… she's beautiful, smart, and a former Soldaderas." Eastwood explains as he pulls out a cigarette.
"Soldareras?" Lelei asked with a confused look on her face.
"A Mexican sniper who are female." Pérez replies from the back. As he takes a drag, a question formed in his head. "Hey speaking of which, jefe how did you marry a syndicalist sniper?"
"Oh, it's not an interesting story." Eastwood said as he waved it off.
"Oh, now I'm curious." Rory interjected with interest. She wasn't as fluent as Lelei but the English she managed to understand just enough to know what they are talking about. "When two warriors fall in love it's always on the battlefield."
"It's nothing like that." Eastwood dejected, but it was clear that they were very interested. With a small sigh Eastwood decides to give them something.
"(Sigh) Look, if y'all want to know. We met back in forty-three. A month after the second Weltkrieg started I was stationed in El-Paso Texas. We were testing out these experimental Night vision specks when refugees from the Mexican-Canadian war came through our checkpoint. It just happened that majority of soldiers traveling with them were Soldaderas. After allowing the refugees to pass I was assigned to watch over and a few things led to another and we started sending letters. I'd spend my time off with her, and we eventually got married. Nothing big about it. Honest." Eastwood claims calmly, much to Rory's annoyance that he wouldn't spill the details.
"… Wait, didn't El-Paso witness a skirmish with British K.A.S and Mexican B.R.S?" Nathan inquired causing everyone in the car to look over to Eastwood.
"… Well, there may have been some boarder fighting, but it wasn't really that… bad." Before Eastwood could even finish, he noticed something off in the distance. By the looks of it, there was a loud cloud of smoke arising from the distance where Italica is located. And where there's smoke, there is fire. Quickly pointing it out Hathale stops the car and pulls out his binoculars. Noticing this, Eastwood asked. "What do you see Corporal?"
"… A huge force, they seem to be leaving." Corporal Hathale remarks as Lelei takes notice to his binoculars. Handing it to her, she looks through them with interest as Hathale continues. "They seem to be armed and badly wounded. But they don't look organized."
"Hmm, that's not a good sign." Eastwood remarks before Rory leans forward with a giddy look on her face, she raised her nose and begin to sniff the air with joy. Curious Eastwood asked. "Um, is there something wrong?"
"Oh, can't you smell it Eastwood? I smell Blood. So much of it." Rory said with a smirk.
In Italica, an hour and half prior.
Blood, blood is all Princess Pina could see around her. Blood, bodies, and fire. She had arrived at Italica with her Sir Grey, Sir Norma, and Squire Hamilton. She had called upon her Rose-Order knights to come to Italica, theorizing the Enemy in Khaki will attack the city next. However, a day after she had arrived the city was besieged. Not by the enemy at Alnus, but by Marauders. Remnants of the imperial soldiers, the allied armies, and filthy demi-humans. Normally marauders don't attack cities, and if they proved to be a menace the lords armies will handle them. However, three fourths of that army were part of the expeditionary force. Not forgetting that the army was split between the three sister, which two of them were nowhere near Italica spelled even more disaster. It was at this point that they had conscripted the peasants to fight as well. And for the most part they have been doing well. However each day the marauders attack, they strike with more resolve and determination while the remaining city guard dwindled or are beaten down. All Pina could do is pray for a miracle.
She had retired to her quarters at the count's mansion. She was given all the hospitality onto her as the princes of the empire shall receive. However she knew when to indulge and when not to. She took a cold bath to rid herself of the blood, and dust. Her wounds were quickly treated, and she request a quick meal and cheap wine. As she sat the now acting count, count Myui Formal the first of her name and head of the Formal clan of Italica, walked in accompanied by her head maid Kaine. Eleven years old and now must lead her people through the hoard of traitors who threatened to destroy her family's birth sake.
"How goes the battle princess Pina?" Myui asked as she tries to hold back her ever-growing terror.
"We lost a quarter of defenders. Half of that are dead and the other is too wounded to put up a fight." Princess said bluntly, much to Myui's disappointment. "Along with that, there has been a breach in the southern gate. Sir Grey has set up fortifications but they won't hold for long."
"I… I see." Myui said nervously. As she shakes slightly in her shoes one of the servants came forth with food for the princess. A basic vegetable stew that had no taste to it.
"Hmm, Tastes bland." Pina criticized.
"But of course. I find that food rich in flavor would upset your stomach after battle." The head maid Kaine remarks.
"Do you now? Have you ever had experience in siege combat before Head Maid Kaine?" Princess Pina asked.
"I have, thirty years prior in the town of Rose… it's now a part of the empire." Kaine replies with a semi hostile tone in her word.
"Oh…" Prince Pina could only remark. From the way she spoke she didn't exactly sound enthusiastic. Pina had found that in people who the Empire had concurred. While it's horrible the rewards for being ruled by the empire was worth more than those who suffered. Taking Formal clan for example. Once a former city state it was conquered nearly two hundred years ago. Sure, its citizens were enslaved and rapped. Subjugated to the whims of the empire, but a century later they are some of the most patriotic citizens of the empire. Though comparing them to those who recently were subjugated wasn't a fair assumption. After a few moments of awkward silence Pina quickly finishes her meal before watering it down with cheap wine.
"I think I'll take a break. How shall you wake me if there is an emergency?" Pina asked.
"An old trick the old master used." Head maid Kaine said with a smirk. She then points to a bowl of water before replying. "We will pour water on your head. Should get you up quickly."
Pina gives a nod before making her way to her bed. She soon fell asleep on the soft bedding. She dreamed of her childhood. How she would play soldier in the gardens of the capital in the midst of summer. As she played around, she suddenly hears screams in the distance. Looking over she stops in horror. The entire city, in ruins and on fire. People fleeing in terror as their skin slowly falls from there bone as if they were wearing overside tunics. As these people flee in terror, a huge cloud in the shape of a mushroom could be seen. She wanted to run, but her feet refuse to let her. It wasn't till she heard it. The sound of spurs. They tinct with every step, getting closer, and closer. Finally finding the courage and strength she turns around only to wake up from this nightmare when something cold hits her face. She wakes up panting, in exhaustion as she felt the cold water falling off her face. In the room was Head maid Kaine with Sir Grey.
"Wha… What happened?!" Princess Pina said as shakes the water from her head. "Are we under attack, did the Rose-Order Knights arrived early? What is going on?"
"Your Highness… I don't know how to explain this." Grey said uncomfortable as he rubs the back of his head. "But… it seems we have visitors. And we can't tell if their friend or foe."
Somewhat confused Princess Pina quickly adorned herself in armor and swiftly made her way to the south gate. There multiple town guards were posted, weapons at the ready and nervously waiting on command. Pina walked through the multiple town's folks to the door, there she peeked through the slot to see two metal objects and a metal hoarse of some kind. The man had parked this thing behind the strange vehicles, after the town's folks pointed their weapons. Whoever they are, She couldn't get a good look at them through the glass.
"Sir Grey, what… are those things?" Princess Pina asked.
"I have no idea, milady. If they were siege vehicles, they wouldn't be few in number. If it's a cart that is the strangest cart I have ever seen." Sir Grey remarks.
Taking that into advice she walks back before calling out to Sir Noma. "Noma, give them a warning to make themselves known!"
Giving a nod he flags down the Ballista's who turned their huge crossbows towards the strange craft. A dozen crossbow men all aimed at them and with this show of force Sir Noma calls down to the craft. "WHO GOES THER! IDENTIFY YOURSELF!"
In the car, Eastwood looks onward at the massive ballista and the soldiers armed with crossbow's. Clearly they have no idea who they were or else they fire upon them. Question now was what to do. After a few seconds Pérez remarks. "Jesucristo… Who pissed in their cerveza?"
"My guess those soldiers we saw fleeing." Hathale remarks. "Probably best that we walk away. If we act quickly, we can be out of harms range without getting hit by any enemy bolts."
"Fair, but eventually we will have to deliver them this letter. So might as well get it over with." Eastwood states as the man on top of the archway calls down to them again. "(Sigh) And here I was thinking I wouldn't get shot today."
He was about to get out of his car when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Lelei stopped him before commenting. "Let me go first."
"What!? No!" Eastwood remarks. "I ain't going to let you stick your neck out for me."
"They will be expecting an armed warrior to approach. If they see me. Then it will as you say, throw them off balance." Lelei explains.
"Fair enough but still doesn't feel right having you risk yourself." Eastwood remarks.
"Then… I will follow, with her." Rory struggled to say in English, but none the less said it with a smirk. "People know me, and if they do fire well, they won't live long to make that mistake."
"… still don't trust the idea of two girls being human shields." Eastwood said having a hard time believing that Rory is this immortal demi-god. Granted she has strength beyond human but a god. Sounds far fetch.
"I'll go too." Tuka speaks up. "I can put them to sleep if things go bad."
"… (Sigh) And when things can't get complicated." Eastwood said as he pinches the bridge of his nose. After a few moments he turns to Hathale. "Your in charge till I get back."
"Good luck Lieutenant." Hathale said with a nod. Eastwood gives the same back before getting out of the car with Lelei, Tuka, and Rory. Back over with the Princess she waited pertinently for a few moments before Sir Noma calls down.
"Princess, a small group exited the strange objects!" Sir Noma called out.
Princes Pina quickly returned to the slot and looked out onto the road. There she can see two figures. One a child dressed in the clothes of a mage. The other, an elf wearing the oddest clothes she has seen. Her first thoughts were, they sent the two too trick them. Low them into a distraction before using their magic. As she calculates the probability of hitting them with a bolt, a third figure made herself known. She recognizes her. Rory Mercury. Rory the Reaper. Apostle of Emroy himself.
"By the gods, is that Rory the Reaper herself?" Sir Grey asked as he peaked through the slot.
"… It is. I met her once." Princess Pina remarks as she comments in her head 'Still terrifying as the first time she met her.'
"Do you think she has sided with Marauders?" Sir Grey asked.
"I… I don't know." Princess Pina hesitantly remarks.
If she was then they would have been dead a long time ago. If she isn't then firing on her will spell doom for everyone here. Rory was known to be completely ruthless in battle. Her bloodlust was the stuff of nightmares. As they got closer her thoughts went dark as the guards on the walk wall fingers twitched over their crossbows. As they got closer and closer to the door, Pina could hear the sound of spurs in her head. Clink, clink, clink. It was getting louder, and louder. Clink, clink, clink. As if the nightmare came to life. Clink, clink, clink. What she does next will affect the entire city. Clink, clink, clink. Should she open the door. Clink, clink, clink. Or call for the soldiers to fire upon the Apostle of Emroy himself. Clink, clink, clink. The sounds of spurs were filling her head. Clink, clink, clink. It filled her with dread that to rid herself of it she made her mind up. Clink, clink, clink. Only way to survive, is to befriend them. Clink, clink, clink.
She grabbed ahold of the board blocking the door, and ripped it off with haste. She tossed it aside and quickly burst open the door. Screaming, "WELCOME! ("GWAAA!") W-WELC…OME?"
In her haste she had burst the door open so fast she failed to realize the man on the other side. He had stumbled back, speaking in a language she has never heard before. As he stumbles about, she took notice to the clothes, he was wearing. They were nothing like she had seen before, but they were Khaki colored. He then turns around to reveal his face to her holding his nose as blood leaked out he replies. In a sarcastic tone. "Is, that… how you people say hello?"
"… Uh, uh…" Pina stumble to say realizing her mistake. As she stumbles with her words the old man simple set his nose back in place before replying.
"(Sigh) Ignoring that, are you going to let us in? Or would you prefer we talk to buzzards in the fields." The man replies in a sarcastic tone. As Princess Pina tries to understand who this man is, Hamilton's much to her annoyance stood between them.
"You are in the presences of her majesty. Fifth child of the emperor, tenth in succession, and grand leader of the Rose-Order Knights. State you name, any titles, and reveal your intentions of being here." Hamilton demanded much to Pina's annoyance.
"… Lieutenant Eastwood. Of the Third Recon unit of the American Expeditionary Force. Just here to deliver a message, and provide security to the three behind me." The old man answered unimpressed by Hamilton's tone.
However despite how lax he was with his words Pina's view slowed down as he heart beats in fear. For weeks she has been trying to learn more about these other-worlder known as the Ameri-can's. The one name she learned in this trial was the name Eastwood. She had heard he was an old man but she didn't expect him to be older than Sir Grey. Her eyes moved about him, taking in all the details of the man. He wasn't wearing armor of any kind. Adorn on his head was a wide brim black hat with playing cards sticking out of it. A strange sandy color bandolier with multiple pouches over a khaki colored shirt. On the sleeve was a patch of a flag, multiple stars with red and white stripes. Beneath it was another patch of a bear roaming under a setting sun. Her eyes turn down and right before her was this Big Iron, in it's leather compartment. It was a strange shape, but if that bar maid was right it has the power to kill a steed at the blink of an eye. As she stares intently at it, she was pulled back to her sense by Hamilton.
"Your Majesty…. Your Majesty… Your Majesty! Princess PINA!"
"Hmm, what?" Pina asked as she breaks out of her thoughts.
"Your majesty, should we let them in?" Hamilton asked before reinstating what Eastwood said. "Eastwood, claims to be delivering a message."
"A-A message? To whom?" Princess Pina asked as she turns to Eastwood.
"To whoever is running this town. Who else?" Eastwood said sarcastically as he rolls his eyes. He then reaches for his pocket to which the peasants, the guards, and the few knights aimed their makeshift weapons at him. He pauses before continuing slowly, and pulling out a fat letter from his pocket. He presents this to Pina who looked down upon it.
"This… this has been stamped by Lord Formal." Princess Pina said with wide eyes as she looked at the wax seal with the Formal sigil. "But… he's dead."
"No, he ain't. I'm supposed to bring it to one of his daughters." Eastwood states.
"… How do we know this isn't a trick?" Pina asked as she held tightly the letter in hand. "Albeit a strange one why shouldn't I believe that this is a ploy to give the young countess false hope."
"Because it's a war crime not to allow prisoners of war to communicate with family." Eastwood states as he leans on the side of the stone archway with his armed cross. "Either way believe it or not my mission was to deliver that message in person, and escort these three to the market so they can sell their wares. Question is, how difficult do you wish to make this."
Pina narrowed her eyes. She has never heard of a war crime nor understand that there such things as crimes in war. However thanks to her time with her father, she developed a sort of imperial stare that will put soldiers in their place, and frighten those of low born decent. However, when she tried this on Eastwood, he didn't even flinch. Rather he just stared back, with cold uncaring eyes. After a few moments of intense staring she reluctantly replies. "Let them in. Keep an eye on his men and only engaged if they do."
The towns folks who were close enough to hear that order gives a nod and begin to open the South door. She then turned back to Eastwood and states, "I shall escort you to her lordship. But let me make this clear Sir Eastwood. We are still at war, and if you try to do harm to the Countess I…"
"Do whatever must be done for the good of us all?" Eastwood interrupted as he rolled his eyes. "Trust me, I have heard that saying more time then I see vermin in the gardens. So cut that bravado shit. I ain't looking to start a fight."
As annoying as it was, the man seems to jump straight to the point. With a nod she motions for them to follow. He did so, with the three girls following behind. As they walked through the city towards the mansion, as they did word begin to spread that soldiers in Khaki has arrived in the city. People came out in droves to see them. To their surprise they were strange bunch, dressed in the most bizarre clothes. There staffs were made of wood and iron, and in the strangely similar shapes. The carts moved without horses, and were also made of iron. Their acting commander was an old man who could retire any day by now. All of that caused the citizens of Italica to wonder why are they here, and how come the empire was having difficulty fighting them in the first place.
Eastwood didn't mind the stares he received from the locals. He received them everywhere he traveled in the past three wars. Though he had to admit, being stared at with curiosity was new to him. Within a few moments, they had arrived at Count Formal's manner. There he met Countess in charge of Italica. Eastwood was surprised that it was an eleven-year-old kid named Myui Formal, but he will give her credit. She was holding on a lot longer than most children could. However, Myui was terrified of this Eastwood. She had heard stories, about these Ameri-cans, how they defeated waves of soldiers without suffering a single casualty. Rumors that they forced the flame dragon to flee had added more dread to her fear. Then the name Eastwood was brought before her by the princess, who spent weeks learning as much as she can. Now, that man was before her. He arrived here to deliver a letter, addressed to her from her dead father. At first, she thought it was a cruel trick. However, she recognized the hand writing of her father, confirming it is indeed him. Reading it brought her to tears, not tears of sadness but of joy.
Her father is alive and despite being imprisoned, he will eventually be released. It seems that they will be allowed freely to converse through letters, though each one will be checked first. Still she giggled a bit when he admits that the prison, he was incardinated at was better than the camp's that Imperial soldiers sleep in. He also took full advantage of the prison's library, and have started to become fluent in the Ameri-cans language, as well as complex mathematics. The message ends with him stating that one day he will return and he loves her very much another letter will be on the way explaining a deal he had made in prison. As she puts down the letter, she couldn't help but thank the man. It was… strange. He was the enemy and yet he risked life and limb, for a simple kindness. Something, very few men would do. She once again thanked him to which he kindly gave her a tip from his hat before leaving. Seeing him go caused an idea to spark in her head. If the rumors were true, perhaps these soldiers can turn the tide of the battle. His hand was on the door when she asked him for something that neither one expect. "Can you aid us."
"… I'm sorry but what?" Eastwood asked as he turned around with a raised brow.
"Sir Eastwood of Ameri-can. Soldier of the Great Bear. You have done a great service to me this day. But I must ask of you… no I beg of you. Will you stay and aid us." Myui begged, causing the entire court suddenly burst in gasp and murmur. She gets up and approaches Eastwood. As she does, Princess Pina quickly grabs her arm
"Countess Myui! What are you doing? He is the enemy." Princess Pina asked completely stunned by Countess Myui's actions.
"Saving my people Princess." Myui said before pulling her arm and continues approaching Eastwood.
"Sir Eastwood. I beg of you. Whatever you wish, I shall grant to you and your lords. Just… please. Save Italica and her people." Myui said as she bowed before Eastwood. "Please… sir Eastwood. I beg of you."
The room went silent for a few moments, the lords, and ladies were astonished and nearly appalled by this act of leniency towards the enemy. To most loyal it was seen as defeat and treason to the empire, to those who knew the bigger threat was at their gate they saw this as a necessary evil for their survival. What everybody was thinking at the same time, was this the right choice. After a few seconds, Eastwood gives a low sigh before approaching Countess Myia. As he moved towards her, the room echoed with the sound of his spurs clinking against the ground. Eventually he stood before her. Then something unexpected happened. He kneeled to her level and looker her in the eyes. A normal soldier of the empire would revel in the mercy of their enemies. Yet he didn't, this sparked a few ideas that these Ameri-cans aren't the savages that the empire had proclaimed.
"Well, I won't lie Countess. American's ain't favorable of monarchies, very few are welcome on our soil. Me, I have fought wars against those with such authorities and I know the horrors they can inflict upon their own citizens." He said causing everyone to go silent thinking he will deny her pleads. "… But, I was once a mountaineer. We made a pledge to defend the innocent regardless of who or the odds. I may no longer bound by that oath but I have yet to stop upholding it. So I don't see why I should start now."
"So… you shall help?" Myia asked unsure by Eastwood help.
"Does the chicken lay eggs?" Eastwood asked rhetorically. "Yes, the Third Recon of the American Expeditionary Force will defend Italica."
Upon Eastwood declaration the nobles begin to cheer and clap. To them if the rumors were true then they had gained a powerful asset against the marauders at the door. Even better, Rory Mercury was with them. The winds of victory are, for once, blowing in their direction. As they were celebrating princess Pina could not help but stare in horror. Have these people lost their sense of loyalty? He was the enemy. Still, no matter worst case if they survive the battle, she will have her knights slit their throats when least expecting. For now, she will watch. See what these Ameri-cans can do.
Hours later, on the eastern gate
From that pledge, all of Third Recon was sent to guard the East gate. Discussing battle tactics, Eastwood suggested that his men should be at the South Gate. Make it look as defenseless as possible. Idea being since it was hit the most, they will see this as an opportune moment to strike. Which they will use this low of self-confidence into a trap. Lure them into a kill zone. However, he was countered by Princess Pina at every step of the plan. She may not have favored the idea of his involvement, but she adamantly refuse to allow him invoke a single idea. She turned the plan from a kill zone to baiting enemies on the east side. Something in his mind he knew as stupid. The east side had scouts watching it as a ploy to distract them. Odds are they will attack from the south when the night is darkest. How he knew, it's something he would have done himself if invading the city. Still, he did got permission from the Countess to call in reinforcement albeit only hundred soldiers thanks to Princes Pina's doing. Fine by him. They really only need fifty… at the most.
A call was sent out to base camp back on Alnus. Sure enough General White was thrilled at the idea. A message was sent back to the other side and they received orders to advance on Italica tomorrow morning. All Third Recon had to do was survive the night. Something they were fairly confident about. Though as Eastwood brother said, 'Confidence is the small knife of failure. Best not let it get to close.' Eastwood ordered the vehicles be read to move if and when the south gate is breached, and in case there was an attempt claymore were hidden in front of the gate for extra security. Once done Eastwood sits by his rifle, cleaning it as he smokes his cigar. Taking in the sight of the setting sun. As he does Rory approaches him.
"So, your helping the Countess of Italica?" Rory asked rhetorically.
"Yep." Eastwood remarks as he puts his rifle back together.
"I must ask, why would you do such a thing?" Rory asked as she slumps down next to Eastwood.
"Well, they needed help. An enemy that we accidently made." Eastwood replies before taking a drag. He then exhales before continuing. "Besides. We made a deal with the former count to safeguard his home. Least we can do is make sure it's his when he returns."
"Well, that seems honorable of you. But there must be another motive to this temporary alliance." Rory states unconvinced at Eastwood's somber approach to the upcoming battle. "I am the apostle of Emroy. God of war. He does not condemn the killing of people. It's the motive. For falsifying your motives will taint your soul."
Eastwood simple takes another drag. From what he has heard about the local costumes there were a dozen gods. Rory is a priest of some kind, though he wondered what kind of priest would wear such a ridiculous outfit. If she was asking as some kind of confession he might as well be up front with her. She has yet to reveal anything pivotal to the enemy and besides. She already knows the main motive. He exhales before lamenting the full explanation.
"Well, the part about protecting the innocent. That, is true. However, I noticed something off. The princess forced us to be the bait in this scheme of hers." Eastwood states before taking a drag from his cigarette. Upon exhales he continues. "My best guess, she's testing us. Want's to know our strengths and weakness's."
"Hmm, that or Imperial Pride. I have seen the consequence of it, yet they keep making the same mistakes." Rory remarks as she remembers every single Imperial soldier who believed they could win a fight against a dragon. The number is staggering. "But if you know she's testing you why allow her to do so?"
"Well, no offense to your god. But we Americans, are sick of war." Eastwood said before looking up. He takes another drag before exhaling. "We have fought three bloody, war's for nearly three decades now. This is fourth war and it hasn't even been a year and we are now fighting this war. So, if she wants to test us fine. But we will show them that this is a war we can easily end in seconds if not for our restraints. So either surrender peacefully or watch the empire die a quick and bloody death."
Eastwood begins to notice the stars slowly beginning to appear. Something that he enjoyed about this world. Without the lights the night sky is more visible and quite pleasant to look at. As he sits there taking in the last drag, a wicked smile formed on Rory's face.
"So it's terror? How sly of you Lieutenant Eastwood. I have yet to see your countries full power, this will be interesting to watch myself." Rory said with a grin.
"Full power? Hardly. We are just showing her what a hundred Americans can do in a single hour." Eastwood states as he tosses aside his cigarette.
"Oh, you are an interesting man Eastwood. I can hardly wait to see the might of a hundred against the best of marauders with my eyes." Rory said as she looks on at the setting sun. Something these Americans symbolized greatly.
The night carried on as normal. All silent on the Easter and Southern fronts. The towns guards were beginning to wonder if the bandits had given up. Hours passed and those posted on the southern gate begin to grow tired. It wasn't till two o'clock in the morning did the siege begin. Around this time, when the moon was darkest, and the guards deprived of sleep were at their worst a slew of flaming arrows were sent over from the forest.
They pierced the bodies of all soldiers present on the walkway. Upon this attack the local peasants and remaining knights quickly screamed out for the alarms to be wrung, for the enemy was at the gate once more. Sir Norma who was stationed there, quickly mustered the defense. As the attackers rained down death from the dark, the defenders were firing blind in vain. Hopping that their bolts and arrows were true. Yet it seems the marauders were never struck. It wasn't till Sir Norma noticed that they had a mage among them. Casting her vile spells to shield the brigadiers from the rain of arrows. With no way to fight against the wave upon arrows the Marauders begin to set upon the walls with makeshift ladders that were crudely put together. They race up the walls, as the defenders struggled to cut them down. At first they had mild success, till a vast majority of their defenders were struck down bow the marauders arrows. As the charge the wall, they chanted with glee.
"THIS IS WAR! EVEN THOUGH OUR BODYS FALL WE REMAIN WARRIORS! THE SLAUGHTER IS CLEAR, OUR DEATHS ARE CLEAR! GHIS IS OUR WAR! A HYMN OF PRAISE TO EMROY! THIS IS WAR! EVEN THOUGH OUR BODYS FALL WE REMAIN WARRIORS! THE SLAUGHTER IS CLEAR, OUR DEATHS ARE CLEAR! GHIS IS OUR WAR! A HYMN OF PRAISE TO EMROY! THIS IS WAR! A HYMN OF PRAISE TO EMROY!"
As they chant, the view pulls back to the Eastern gate. Third Recon watches from afar as the light and fire of war rages on. Such a small light yet so much death was happening. As the fires rage a question that was not spoken aloud finally breaks the silence.
'Why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why…' "WHY ARE THEY NOT ATTACKING HERE!" Everyone quickly turns around to see Rory… pleasuring herself.
"… What in the hell… is she doing?" O'Hara asked with a disturbed look on her face.
"La brujita no tiene decencia, that's what." Pérez comments.
"Um… should we… I mean I don't thing but should we…" Nathan said uncomfortable.
"Don't." Lelei remarks. "She is currently filtering the souls of the dead."
"… What! (Daa!) (Nani!) (Que!)" The entire third Recon remarks in surprise.
"Rory, is the apostle of Emroy. Her task is to allow the souls to pass through her so they may join the dark god." Lelei answers in full causing another bout of 'What! Daa! Nani! And Que!' From the group. "I have been told that by resisting the urge to join in, the souls is going through her is… intoxicating."
"… Oh so like an aphrodisiac." Nathan remarks snapping his fingers after realizing what Lelei was referring too. Happy that he figured out he turned around to see that everyone was looking at him with disappointed faces.
"… Ew." Brooks said breaking the silence.
As the battle rages on, Rory's moans got louder and louder as she begins playing with herself to control herself. As for the other it brought extreme discomfort. They all tried to find things to keep their mind off her but she was to loud. Eventually Eastwood and the rest had enough.
"… Hey Lelei." Eastwood said as he checks his arms.
"Yes?" Lelei asked.
"If we get her into the fight will she stop moaning." Eastwood question as he holsters his California Sequoia.
"She will." Lelei said with a nod.
Everyone perking up after hearing the Young mage confirming that she will stop acting strange Eastwood gives the order to move out. Name of the game was the high noon spotter. Was a bit cliché, but hell. Hollywood glamorized it, Mountaineers invented it. They quickly race to the cars and drove away. Leaving Private First class Fukita to watch over Lelie and Tuka as the rest ventured off to set a trap. Hopefully it will occupy the attackers long enough for the Calvary to arrive.
Back at Alnus Hill on the airfields.
Back at the base, a hundred soldiers and piolets quickly raced about the air strip. All with joyous looks on their faces. For days now they were preparing for an aerial invasion of Italica. Now it seems they shall be using the skills from practice to protect these people. One-Tenth of the hundred men were piolets, not just any piolets. The best of the best the American PSA air force had. During the Second American civil war dog fights over the great Mojave Desert was crucial for the PSA. Because of the multiple defensive victories over Nevada, Utah, and Arizona the air force stationed out of McCarran airport had earn themselves the nickname. 'The Mojave Patrol.' Today, those who patrolled the Mojave were once again flying in modified Bell H-13 Sioux and Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw. Soldiers had painted on the side a few nose murals. Some of aggressive teeth, girls from the Homefront, words written in bold Latin, cartoon cowboy an cowgirls, and beloved icon 'Donald Duck' and his cousin 'Ahiru Duck' tossing bombs.
They were quickly briefed on their attack patterns before they board their helicopters and quickly took to the sky's. With the refugees watching awe at the biggest wave of flying machines they have ever seen. The soldiers and ground crew waved goodbye and Goodluck as they rode north towards Italica. The view pulls in on one soldier riding from the side with the piolet. As he checks the ammo in his M1 Garand rifle the pilot speaks to the entire force.
"Alright ladies and gentlemen. This is Papa Bird; our mission is to defend the city of Italica. We are estimated to arrive at zero six hundred hours. Till we reach our final destination might I request Raging Duck to kick off some music! Let third Recon know those who patrol come ah 'knocking" The lead Pilot spoke over the radio.
"Roger that Papa Bird, our first is a classic. Maybe a bit anti-American, but still a fuckin classic." The man under the monogram of Raging Duck said over the communication jokingly before activating the sound speaker on his Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw helicopter.
After a few moments of static the violins of Wilhelm Richard Wagner work begin to play from the loud speakers. La Chevauchee Des Walkyries. The Ride, Of the Valkyries. The heavenly opera voice can be heard echoing through the countryside as the sun slowly rise. As they move at amazing speeds the sight of the burning city was coming closer and closer. And the sound of Valkyrie got louder and louder.
Back in Italica… around the same time.
Things have gone from bad to worst. The Sough gate, has fallen to the barbaric mob of Marauders. They had killed the defenders upon the gate and had tossed their bludgeoned, broken, and diced bodies on the ground. A small fortification of cheval de frise was built around the gate to act as a second line of defense. Yet despite the element of surprise, the man power, training, and weapons, they chose to remain at the gate. As they stayed behind, they continued their chant, all while waving there swords and decapitated heads on pikes.
A HYMN OF PRAISE TO EMROY!"
As they did, the South gate fell and in rode the Marauders leaders. As they rode in the crowed went silent as they dragged along barely living victims they had captured. Men, were mutilated beyond recognition. Women defiled and beaten to the point that they struggle just to breath from the agony. And in the commanders hand was barley in their third year upon this earth. Wailing as the commander shakes his dislocated arm about with much amusement. As they pull their captives the commander spots Princess Pinna. With a wide grin he addresses her.
"Why hello princess! What a lovely day for war isn't!" He called out before turning to his men. "What a lovely day for war isn't it, gentlemen!"
The crowd of Marauders all shout and cheered in agreement. The Commander basked in it before turning back to Princess Pina. "You know, we gave you an out. You and the little cunt whose daddy died. But no, you choose to stay and appose us. Good. For what is war without an enemy worthy of our forces. So thank you Princess Pina Co Lada. Thank you for this wonderful war that was denied unto us by the enemy beyond the gate at Alnus Hill."
The crowed of Marauders all begin to thank her, chanting "Long live Princess Pina Co Lada! Long live Princess Pina Co Lada! Long live Princess Pina Co Lada!" Over and over before the commander quickly wild them up once more by calling out to his men. "Right lads, shower her with your appreciation, and the First man to capture her has her for the first hour!"
That did the trick and the Marauders proceeded to remove the heads off their pikes and toss them at the defenders. Causing panic among the crowed. To salt the wound, they begin to butcher the captives that were dragged in, foundling the cute ones in front of their husbands, parents, and children. Laughing to the delight of their misery. As the crowed begins to tremble in fear and anger Pina had to command a few soldiers to hold back a few peasants who were trying to enter. Seeing that their mockery was a success the Commander was going to give the order by basking in the blood of the child. He raised his sword ready to gut the child when (BANG!).
Out of nowhere a loud shot can be heard, the Hoarse the commander was riding on shrieked in brief pain before keeling over. The Commander dropped the blade in agony as something tore through his arm and armor as well. The hoarse fell to the side pinning the man to the ground, breaking his leg underneath the weight. He screamed in agony as the Marauders remained silent. There eyes went wide and their pupils constricted. Last time they heard such a noise was… at Alnus hill. The enemy… they were here. As the Marauder commander cried in agony the sound of spurs clinking was much louder and only got louder as a figure slowly moved through the crowed. Pina spots the figure, Lieutenant Eastwood. By himself, walking towards the crowed. He can be seen fiddling with his Big Iron before ducking under the cheval de fries before standing before them.
"So… I have your attention… Good." Eastwood speaks out to the group of Marauders. As he holsters the big iron, he waited a few moments before giving the Marauders an ultimatum. "As a good friend of mine once said at the battle of Cangzhou to soldiers fighting under the Qing empire. 'You have chosen this path. Life works in strange and mysterious ways. Your choices have clearly led you here, as have mine. I will give you a new choice: Leave here now and live... or stay and face your destiny.' So what will it be. Leave now and live? Or stay… and die. The decisions you make and the actions that follow are a reflection of who you are… and you cannot hide from yourself."
The world went silent, with only the wind coming from the south. As seconds turned into a minute the Marauders did nothing. The towns folks did nothing. The child who was about to be gutted did nothing. They all just stared in aw at this old man from another world. After a full minute the commander finally broke some sense into his fellow Marauders.
"Just kill him! There is all but one! The man who kills him shall get the Princess. For life!" The Commanding Marauder shouted prompting two too run towards him with blades at the ready when suddenly they were cleaved in half. Before them was Rory Mercury. The Reaper of Emroy. Was signing with the enemy at Alnus.
"Oh, I'm so glad you have chosen to follow your destiny." She said as she licked her lips causing them to turn purple. She quickly swings her blade around, tossing the guts aside before looking on at the crowed of Marauders. Each standing still shitting themselves in fear. She takes a step forward and the kid quickly races behind her holding on to the back of her foot. She gives a warm smile before remarks. "So… who wishes to please my lord first."
The Marauders stood still before finally one breaks into a scream and charges towards the two when shots can be heard from the top of the roof. There a man holding a 1947 Winchester rifle with telescopic sight.
"¡Muerte de los, hijos de puta!" Pérez called down as he cocks the lever action of his 1947 Winchester rifle.
Rory went to work racing into the field as she slaughters Marauders the on the ground with her massive Halberd. As she ripped the Marauders apparat a few came running the kid who was left behind. As they charged they were blown away as Hathale moved from the crowed with his Garand rifle. With him was O'Hara, armed with a Winchester 1897 shotgun. Hathale pulls the kid back to Eastwood as O'Hara rushed in with a bayonet attached to the end of her Boomstick. The two Veterans covered Rory and O'Hara as they brutally destroy the Marauders. Rory in a blood crazed state begin tearing the enemies to shreds with her Halberd while O'Hara moved in an out-boxer motion, keeping her distance from the sword and pikes before moving in when they made their last mistake. They quickly begin amassing a kill count while Eastwood and Hathale kept the Marauders from surrounding them.
From above a few of the Marauders tried to rain death with their arrows. However, before they could even get a shot, bullets would hit them right between the eyes, thanks in part to Pérez marksmanship. Quickly realizing they needed to find cover from these invisible arrows, they hastily took cover behind the stone parchments and defenses. However, grouping up proved to be a worse mistake, when a nearby second story Window opened up with Nathan on the other side. Attached to the end of M7 grenade launcher was his own special concoction of gun powder and nitroglycerin. He launched a round down upon the cowering Marauders. Blowing them to smithereens and exposing them to Pérez sights. As they struggled to pull themselves from the rubble Brooks who appeared on another Rooftop overlooking them laid suppressing fire with his B.A.R from the window of an open building. Forcing them off the wall walk. The stragglers who tried to retake the wall were met with a face full of buckshot from Zimmerman and Jones. Who worked to root out the stragglers and remove the ladders.
The townsfolks watched in shock as a handful of soldiers laid to waist what a handful of royal knights could not. Though the hoard of Marauders were never ending they have yet to suffer any injury. In fact two of the men in Khakis had made it up on the wall and proceeded to clear it… with brutal efficiency Pina could not believe what she was witnessing. It was a ballet of death. If these Ameri-cans can do so much death from far away, how will the empire fight such a battle. That's when she hears it. Something loud was approaching. It sounds like whooshing of wings and the angelic womanly voice singing. The fighting soon comes to a temporary end, when the entire south gate exploded and a shadow of multiple aerodynamic machines descended.
FÜHRET DIE MÄHREN FERN VONEINANDER,
BIS UNSERER HELDEN HAßLOCH GELEGT!
DER HELDEN GRIM BÜßTE SCHON DIE GRAUE!
"Well, seems the Calvary arrived!" Eastwood remarks as he quickly loads his M1 Garand. "Heh, High-Ho Silver!"
"Heh, Tʼą́ą́tsoh Tsídii atsa ma áko yadiizíní bikʼáʼ!" Hathale cheered as he fires off his last shot.
The Helicopters caught the Marauders off guard. Those who understood what had happened realized that these soldiers were distraction, if they had left they could have survived. But now the beast from Alnus had arrived, raining death from above. High above, the pilots flew around the battlefield, allowing the passengers to rain death with their rifles, grenades and Browning. It was honestly too easy, hell it almost made them sad. Then again, they were not just waving decapitated heads of women they raped… so they didn't feel too bad. As they took care of the stragglers and any who were outside the gate they turned their attention to few dozen remaining inside the gate. Quickly flying over Eastwood notices the lone helicopter. Waiting for them to clear out.
"Shit, O'Hara! Rory! Pull back!" Eastwood called out to the two. However, they were stuck in the moment. Eastwood called out to them again and yet they didn't respond back. Muttering under his breath Eastwood motions for the rest to cover him and Hathale.
The two quickly raced forward towards the two, meanwhile O'Hara was loading the few rounds into her shotgun when one Marauder swung his great sword down on her. She dropped the shells and held up her gun as a shield. Successfully defending herself she pulled her 1911, and fired off a few shots into the Marauders gut. As she gets back to her feet someone grabbed her shoulder and screamed her name.
"O'Hara, we need to leave!" Hathale shouted at her.
Somewhat deafened by the sound of gun fire Hathale quickly grabs her by the back of her collar and pushes her toward the cheval de fries. Meanwhile with Rory she was picked up by Eastwood over his shoulder. She was struggling to get back to the field of battle but Eastwood held on tightly as he ran back. Seeing them run a few Marauders chased after to try and take them down with her. One ran in front only to be cut down by Eastwood's Sequoia. As they were just out of the firing range the Bell H-13 Sioux helicopter, the M2 Browning laid waste to the bandits. There screams can be heard as the dust spewed out from the crowed till the Bell H-13 Sioux browning's went silent. After a few seconds had passed the hoard of Marauders were little more than bloody corpses upon the ground. The civilians looked onward in awe at the flying machine. None some more then Pina.
"W-What in the name of the gods… is that monster?" Sir Hamilton asked in utter shock.
"A… metal duck?" Sir Grey guessed unsure why there was picture of two ducks in strange clothes tossing smooth stones with flashing wicks.
"No, a metal Pegasus." Princess Pina remarks at the sight of the flying machine.
She watches in horror as more appeared over the walls, dropping soldiers who secured the walls and grounds. Capturing any who survived the massacre. She had witness before her a power that would rival the gods themselves. As the soldiers secure Italica, its people begin to cheer for them. This made things worse, for if the majority of the nobility and the peasants see these soldiers as hero's, they will turn their backs on the empire. Any attempt to dismay them and rebel against the forces will end with them siding with these soldiers in Khaki's. As she watches her eye's spot the old man. The one known as Eastwood. He noticed her stares, but didn't give it much thought. Rather he simple took out that parchment and set fire to the end. As he smoked whatever that substance is, two questions came to Princess Pina's mind. 'Who are these, Ameri-cans… and what do they want?'
Hello Everybody Wombag1786 here.
Heh, well wasn't that exciting! Fun fact for everyone who does know. Before the seventies I think playing cards had this varnish that was similar to nitroglycerin when heated. So we got a fun break out to Rusty Cage. A bit of backstory on how Eastwood's met his wife, As well a bit of history of the Canadian-Mexican war. (… You know, I am having a hard time imagining that. Can anyone imagine a war between Canada and Mexico? Without USA involvement? It sounds weird but that happened.) We had a good old fashion showdown in a ghost town. (Granted it wasn't a ghost town but still point made.) and to top it all off we heard the sound of die Valkyrie! Ah… takes me back to Francis Coppola's Vietnam. With that said let's get on with the questions and comments.
From Eddie199: … (Sigh) I'll get the trumpets. *Wombag leaves the scene before coming back to play 'wo alle straßen enden.'
Thanks for writing Eddie199
From Perseus12: Yeah… what did George Santayana said again? "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." (IRL, Seems we are forgetting history already.) Regardless yeah. Was a bitch to research some of these national animals, (The ottoman Empire had none.) Still was greatly enjoyable to do.
Oh the Bear shall roam. Now, Princess Pina has seen what has happened. Next chapter will nail th… Heh… heh. Sorry but I am excited for next chapter. Should give everyone a good laugh.
Hmm, well I don't think Emroy will see eye to eye with Eastwood's anti-war stance. But as a warrior. He will be greatly interested.
Hope this chapter was enjoyable.
Thanks for writing Perseus12
From ChoyTheUSChamp: Glad to hear it.
Ah… dang it. Oh well there are plenty of fish in the sea.
…huh, my mistake. Point still stands, I hope this story to live up to DrkKnight12's story. Sad what happened.
Thanks for writing ChoyTheUSChamp
From Dasgun: … *Wombag eye is twitching in annoyance.
Thanks for writing Dasgun
From grievousrommel: Did I? Huh so it seems. Sorry about that.
Um, officially there both Democracies, but if you want specifics. Japan is Social Conservatism (They have a constitution, womens suffrage, and all that but final word is the Emperor. Tradition of Samurai bushido can be seen in their culture.) and Russia is Authoritarian Democracy. (They had had multiple civil wars, foreign wars and pissing wars. After the last leader was assonated those who came into power held onto it tightly.)
Thanks for writing grievousrommel
From GoodguysRoverated: No, don't recon you have. But thanks. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for writing GoodguysRoverated
From SRPA Sentinel: Thank you. Heh Funny, never sided with McArthur. My two games I played were on the PSA Side. How did Mr. Dent put it. "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villian." Think that sums up the American Ceasar in my book. Eh, I had this one idea where RWBY Characters find themselves fighting on the different sides. But I think I'll finish this story before thinking about any more HOI4 stories.
Hope you enjoy this chapter.
Thanks for writing SRPA Sentinel.
From naufalrakha0104: Consider them crushed
Thanks for writing naufalrakha0104
From FoulerGlinter60: Heh, could go for some Jack and Cola… that or a Manhattan. I'll take that to heart FoulerGlinter60.
Thanks for writing FoulerGlinter60
Thank you all for reading. The next chapter will come out sometime at the end of the month. Please support the story by Fav, Fol, and leaving either a comment or questioned down bellow. This is Wombag1786 signing off.
