Indian Baseball!
John looked around him. This room was where he would spend his last night on earth. He sighed. He wasn't really supposed to be here anyway. It wasn't his fault. In fact, it was far from being his fault! It was Thomas, his best friend. He had done it. He had shot the guy, not John! But he had only done it because the guy was attacking John and probably would have killed him had Thomas not pulled the trigger. John would rather take the punishment himself than let Thomas take it. He kinda owed him.
"Boy, am I in a predicament." John thought. And he was right. He did have a problem. Just then, Meeko showed up right above his head. John glanced up.
"Meeko!" He said. The bottomless pit raccoon was his ticket to freedom! Meeko glanced down at John. He purred.
"Meeko, I need your help!" John whispered. Meeko cocked his head. Was John, the guy who had given him all those delicious biscuits, asking him for his help? Meeko decided to help him.
"I need you to chew on the ropes up there, Meeko! But only after I dislodge this pole from the ground, alright?" He told the raccoon. Meeko nodded. John got to work. It took him a little while to get the pole loose from the ground. Then it took him another while to stand up without his hands. When he was up, he told Meeko to start chewing. Meeko chewed the ropes. They actually tasted good!
"Just a little more, Meeko!" John said, not wanting to wait another minute to be free. He didn't know what he would do when he was free, but the first thing he would try and do was find Pocahontas. Meeko continued to munch on the ropes. Finally, with one last munch, the ropes snapped. John hadn't noticed but the entire hut was being held up by that pole and those ropes. When the ropes snapped, John heard the sound of a falling structure. It was the hut itself! Everyone was staring at him. He looked up at Meeko, who looked down at him.
"Uh oh." John said. He didn't know what to do. Then he told himself: "RUN!"
John took off, dragging the pole as he ran. He heard the chief yell something. Warriors surrounded him. He knew that what must have been said was "Get him" and that's what they were doing.
"Oh no you don't." John said, desperate to be free. He whirled around suddenly, causing the pole to swing and hit the warriors out of the way. The chief sent in more warriors and John took off. He came to the wall and he couldn't find the way out!
"Oh no." He said to himself.
"He's trapped!" The chief yelled.
"Where's Pocahontas when you need her?" John asked, still looking for the way out. Suddenly, an arrow zoomed through the air and hit just above John's head. John looked up at it, knowing that it could have hit him. More warriors swarmed. John banged his head back against the pole for a few minutes, wondering if he had won this game of Indian Baseball.
