In the woods, weeks before the attack on Italica.
3rd POV
The view opens up in the forest. Quiet was the scene, almost serene with the birds and woodland creatures moving about humming their own tunes. That peace and quiet however was interrupted when the sound of a groggy groan can be heard. Bellow a tree a lone Saderan soldier laid, bound and tied to a tree with a swollen right eye. After recovering from the raging headache did he spoke.
"Úbi sum…" Before he could finish he saw the man who kicked him. Sitting their with a knife in hand, giving a menacing look. "Non est bonum hoc."
"Ah good, your awake. And 'ere I was thinkin' that I'd be havin' lunch before the fun began." Zeke remarks before turning to Vic who was studying a parchment of paper alongside an elf captive. "Right, victor. Mind translatin' what we wanna know and how the hell do we get back?"
"Alright, just give me a moment." She came over and cleared her throat before speaking in Latin. "Bonum mane. Bene, non tam bonum est tibi. Nihilominus habemus aliquas quaestiones ad respondendum, et nisi similis tui sumus faciemus et erimus dimittet vos. Non magis quam pars problems. Sana aequum?"
The man remained quiet for a few moments before speaking. "Vellem prius moriatur antequam manifestatur, quid tibi barbara turpis!"
He then spat at Vic, hitting him in the face before sitting up proudly. Zeke looked up at Vic who slowly removed the spit from her face. He clearly was disgusted by it but none the less kept his composure. Turning to Zeke.
"He… isn't in the mood to tell us. Milites codice rule I guess. Or you got unlucky in the choice of captives. Either way we need to break his superiority complex before we could get an answer." Vic said before flicking the loggie off his face.
"Hmm, I think I have a method to get him talkin'. Heh, be speakin' in high c's when I'm done with him." Zeke said before turning to the slaves. "Oy, you boys and girls get on o'er 'ere. I'm gonna need your help with a classic of mine. The Bull Frog Cry."
None of the slave's understood what Zeke said. It was like a yank talking to Cajun. Giving a small sigh Zeke turned to Vic and motion to him. "Mind tellin' them to help?"
"Oh. Sure." Vic said before calling out in Saderan Latin. "Militibus aperire digneris iaculis pede? Quod est maxime ens quad."
"O fideles ..." The slaves said in agreement. They have been beaten, bloodied, and torchered for the amusment of these imperial dogs. So for them to resend the same treatment was going to be a real pleasure. They grabbed ahold of his legs and moved it to the side.
"A supposito terrebant Saderan militis Tibi nulla natio fera nil doloris." The soldier mocked. However his voice went silent when Zeke took a few steps back. He soon realized the horror that these slavers were going to preform. He tried to call out for mercy but by then Zeke had already ran and jumped. Clashing down hard on his nuts. What followed sounded like a cat being strangled by a snake, the force almost popped one.
"Whoa boy. That would give one of them syndicalist screamers a run for they're money. Right so who's next?" Zeke remarks before turning to the only male elf.
"How 'bout you boy? Care to take point on this son of a bitch?"
"… Quid?" The elf asked with a brow raised.
"(Sigh) Vic?" Zeke said turning to Vic.
"Si vos would amo ut suus 'postulantes ut comminuet autem rursus hominis nuces." Vic transalted.
"O fideles. D. circumcidetur ex vobis ipsis." The elf said with a nod.
He hands the foot off to Zeke. He takes a few more steps back and get's ready. He races back doing a somersault into the air. The Saderan soldier could only say "Libet expectare prohibere!" Before the elf came crashing down. Landing tippy toe on his nut's like a professional ballerina. The intensity of the pain caused the soldier to shriek in pure agony. Compared to the human this one was precise, like a needle to a rock. He cried in agony as the elf backflipped off his balls, gaining a cheer from Zeke.
"Damn, you have a talent for this my friend. Shame you weren't they're for the battle of Santa Fe against them P.S.A cowpokes and they're Jap piolets." Zeke said with a smile.
"… Quid?"
"… (Sigh) God damn language barrier." Zeke said before turning to Vic who gave a nod. Meanwhile he remarks under his breath. "If I knew Latin would be useful I'd pay attention in Sunday school."
"Ipse suus is honorificentissimam in vobis." Vic explains to the elf.
"O bene agimus. Ego enim didici coniecto meam uxorem." The elf said before spitting in the face of the crying soldier. "Et quod esset a te canis imperatoria!"
"Non placet magis. Et amen dico vobis omnia. Iustus prohibere testes estis vineam meam." The soldier pleaded to which Vic translates.
"Alright, Vic. Mind takin' point on this." Zeke said to her. "I'm gonna get Bess o'er they're ready to move."
Vic gave a nod before interrogating the soldier. He spilled everything. About the empire, the slaves, and what has become of them in the town not too far from here. Along with a few details about how they plan to sack a town near the gate should the savages, as he describe the Americans, push north. The lord apparently was a thorn in the emperors side, one that he could not pluck till his death in the charge into the new world. Vic however wasn't interested in knowing about politics. Rather how to get back to this, gate. That however caused the soldier to chuckle.
"Heh, non refert. Ego hic non morietur. Non habebant domos et alienos liberos sortes vocant. Cum autem vestri vexillum patriae nolueris, incendemus te ad nos tam iustum!" the soldier mocked. Annoyed Vic decided to try this Bullfrog scream.
"Hey Zeke. Mind sending the small guy on over?! I think our friend needs a reminder of what happens when he forgets his manners!" Vic shouted out.
"Oh, for sure. Heh hey Dwarf get on in there." Zeke called out.
After a brief few moments stomping sounds can be heard. What came from around the cart was a bulky dwarf with a temper in his eye and a devilish smirk on his lips. Dwarfs were treated with the same ire as most demi-humans however their skills in forging and blacksmithing has proven to be highly treasured in mountain and sea fairing towns. So when the dwarf was told it was his turn to show this imperial who had starved him for days some payback. He was more then happy to oblige. Taking a few steps back he let out a war scream before charging forth.
"Expectantibus, ad portam. Est etiam contra australem plagam. In Alnus glutinosa Hill. Testor ego in illo. Per deos omnes, suus 'ad meridianam. In meridie, in ..." Before he could even finish the dwarf lept up and did an elbow drop the not only hit the bastard's testicles, but also crushed them into the ground, making a small hole in the dirt. The soldier's leans up and let out a loud scream that sounded like a raging frog, So loud that it traveled up and sent a flock of birds flying away. The view focuses on those birds as scene slowly shifts from day to night before falling on a city glowing with lights over the sea.
In Vancouver at an unknown time and place.
The city of light's, or rather one powered by electricity compared to the flames was a beautiful sight. The city of Vancouver was bustling with life. Specially since they were the only city between Washington and Alaska. However in recent day's soldiers of the Canadian commonwealth were seen patrolling the city. Since the invasion of Sacramento, fear of what could possibly come from the other side sparked the Canadian commonwealth as well as the newly established puppet state of the United Mexican states, put their forces on the western most boarder. Should the Americans fail to keep the forces from coming over, they shall be prepared to defend their lands. So, when an old Airspeed AS.6 Envoy touched down in Vancouver international airport it wasn't surprising when multiple commonwealth soldiers came out of it. As they do, two important looking chap's waited patiently by the door. Waiting quietly within the plane was an old man. Smoking from an ivory carved pipe, as he takes a drag, the light from his cigar illuminated his face. Multiple scars covered his right cheek and up to the right eye; blistering pink, a sign of radiation. As he smoked, the figure looked on as if staring off. Recalling the last time he was in Vancouver was preparing for operation hooked cove during the Mexican Canadian war. As he stared off a voice called out to him.
"Sir, Sir, Sir… Sir Miles." The voice called out drawing the old man's attention. He turned to look at the young lad revealing that the eye covered by the radiation burn had loss it's color, leaving a milky white haze. Along with that was a fine black but greying handle bar mustache. A red beret with the K.A.S symbol, military fatigues, and a cane made of from an Indian ash tree. However the most noticeable aspect was the large revolver in his shoulder holster. A Webley Mk Vl Revolver, with multiple tally marks on the side.
"Yes?" The old man remarks as he exhales.
"We have been expecting you." The young man said nervously before motioning him to leave the plane and come with him.
Giving one last drag he dumped his ashes into the tray before tucking away his pipe into his pocket. He'd take his can and proceeded out the plane remarking calmly. "Quite, still for me to be flown under such inconspicuous conditions it must be important."
"Yes, all be it under strange times no less." The young lad said before leading him to a car just as the rain starting to pour down. Quickly moving in the two entered the car and soon drove off to an undisclosed area for further debriefing. However Sir Miles was given a folder on what MI6 managed to find within the tightly guarded secrets.
The other side wasn't just some kingdom. High altitude photos found the land to be not of this world. An entirely new world undiscovered and ripe with resources that could fuel anyone who lays claim to it. If possible, the crown would love to obtain territory into this bold new world. Bring the maimed lion back to the world stage, pride and powerful once more. Sadly, the American's had already got a head start and they were barely on speaking terms. Worst if they attempt to start a war, the whole world would turn on them. Possibly be rewarded with a chance at land from the other side. For now, they will wait till the report comes in one-month time. When locals are brought over to give testimony to the soldiers and how they are interacting with the locals. As he read up on the report, a name kept on coming up. A lone soldier credited for leading a team in the defeat of a fiery dragon. While this may have made any veteran roll their eyes at the propaganda purposes this could be used. However, the name of this lieutenant only brough ire to Sir Miles. As he reads on, he couldn't help but look at his service pistol. Been his fathers during the great war and been used by him since his entry into the K.A.S back in thirty-eight. The tally marks came on during the Second American civil war but there was one spot reserved. The fifth waiting to cross of and he has been dying to cross it off. From Denver to Vienna. He had tried over and over to cross that tally. Yet he seemed to elude him. Perhaps he'd get his chance again. As he looked on the young lad who escorted him took notice to his blink-less stare.
"Um… Sir, is everything alright?" The young man asked hesitantly.
"Hmm, oh yes. Was thinking of… well guess an old friend of sort." Sir Miles remarked.
"Oh, you had a friend on this side of the world my lord?" The young man asked with some interest.
"Well, he'd probably wouldn't say friend. Actually, friend isn't the right word to put our relationship as well." Sir Miles remarks before putting his hand to his chin to scratch as he think of the word that best describes the relationship.
"Oh… what, would you call it sir?" The young man asked.
"Hmm, I'd say… well don't think theirs a word but. It's like a hunter and his prey. Yet it's hard to tell which is which at times. We both have left our marks on each other." Sir Miles remarks before pulling out his revolver and taking a look at it. "And I'm sure we have kept spaces upon our weapons of trade. Waiting for the day death breaks this stalemate with a clear victor."
"Oh… I see." The young man said uncomfortable by how casual the man was with his revolver.
"But, regardless. As I think about this historic day where we meet one last time I wonder. Does he too, think about it as well?" Sir Mile said before looking out the window of the car. The view pulls to the side before transitioning the scene in a thunderous sneeze.
Meanwhile, On the other side of the gate.
"Achoo." Eastwood sneezed as he walks with his corporal atop the devastated city wall.
"Someone talking about you sir?" Hathale asked.
"Eh… what?" Eastwood asked as he rubs his nose.
"When someone talks about you, they say it will make you sneeze." Hathale explains.
"Oh, that a fact?" Eastwood asked as he pulls out a cigarette.
"If you believe my sister. Or any youngsters out in Washington. Yeah it's real." Hathale said as he pulled out his own cigarette.
"Hmm, wonder where it started." Eastwood said before taking a drag from his cigarette. As the two old soldiers do, they look down on the ruined east gate. There multiple American soldiers had begun putting it back together.
When the battle was over, the soldiers rounded up the surviving bandits, helped the wounded, and assisted in burying the dead. Those who suffered greatly were shocked to find the medicine that the Americans used. What would take years will be repaired in mere months at most. Along with the terrifying show of force, they realize the reason why the empire was losing. At first, they thought they had traded one conqueror for another, then rumors begin to spread. How the formal count was still alive and had made a deal with the Americans. In exchange the Americans would protect them as if they were their own. These rumors were soon confirmed to be true by the young countess herself. Now, no longer under the threat the citizens felt safer than ever before. A giant, fair in compassion, but devastating in its wrath, now watches over them. As the citizens of all background got along well with the American forces, Pinna could not help but look onward in horror from her room atop the manner. Once the proud people of the empire the citizens of the Italica were now no longer afraid of the Ameri-cans. Rather they welcomed them with open arms as if they were family. Even the nobles approve of these American's presence. If she tried to rally the masses to remove these foreign invaders, they would boot her… if she was lucky. As she looked down, towards the Eastern gate her eyes fell upon the man named Eastwood.
The man who led a handful of soldiers in driving off a dragon. The man who successful defense against the Marauders. The man the people of Italica has called their savior. The man, with the big Iron on his hip. She would normally scuff at such a ridicules title, but after seeing what he and his soldiers could do with those weapons; she knew that facing off against him in open conflict would yield no victory. Even if they kill one, the price for such a measly success would be over shadowed by the blood. Only way to save her people was to do something she never thought she do in her life time. Kiss their shiny steel tip boots.
When the Americans arrived on their war Pegasus, they brought with them a high ranking official and a woman no less. She spoke with experience and a stoic tone. Sending shivers down Pina's spine. At the same time, she almost envied her. A woman, holding such a position and actually commanding such respect was laughable in the empire. Yet these Americans weren't opposed to the idea. As Pina secretly grumbled and screamed to herself Myui was rather happy to meet Ms. Blanch. Despite her intimidating stance, she was rather pleasant when discussing anything other than work. After a few moments of introduction, she presented a copy of the deal that her father had signed. While she was horrified that her father would not return the crimes he had committed while unintentional was a slap on the wrist compared to those who refused. Besides if she could visit him as often as she is permitted and aloud to send letters whenever she wishes. She had already begin writing a letter to send her father. After discussing his condition and those who will return home soon, Ms. Blanch suggested that she is given some time to write up an official paperwork for this rare cooperation between two waring parities. Giving her full-hearted blessing the two reconvened hours later in the throne room.
In two hours, Ms. Blanch and her escorts arrived in the throne room. There, Pina sat next to Myui with her personal guards with her. In hand was two stacks of fine white paper, with the terms of the spoils won during the battle with the marauders. Hamilton took one of the papers and begin reading them aloud. The demands were rather simple. Any and all slaves taken by these Marauders were to be released. Both parties agreed. The People of Italica will punish the Marauders. The Ameri-cans only objection is that those captured be treated to a fair hearing. And that the punishment will fit their crime. As well as a handful of Marauders will be taken by the Ameri-cans. This was agreed too. Along with that the wealth obtained from the marauders were to be put solely to funeral, and medical costs that were inflicted upon those who suffered from the attacks. Both parties agreed to this. Traders, pilgrimages, and wander's are free to visit the Alnus hill without any restrictions or tax. Both parties agreed albeit begrudgingly from Pina's side. Finally, Italica will no longer be a part of this war. It will remain as a neutral party and won't restrict any parties from negotiating in the future. The Ameri-cans were fine with this, Pina was not.
Italica bread some of the most loyal soldiers, along with being a crucial trade route for the empire. If they remain neutral and got to trading with the Ameri-cans then some of the they may start to scheme. To overthrow the Countess. However, no matter how hard she tried to remove this, Myui refused. She refuses to let another one of her people die for this pointless war. So Pina, daughter of the emperor was force to obey the whims of her enemies. Least, that's what she wanted them to think. She had called for an extension to this condition. A nonviolence clause. If any soldier from either party were to attack the people of Italica or the other army for any other reason other than personal defense then the armies must remove any and all forces from the city. She figures that if she could gull one of these savages into attacking then she remove them from the city on the bases of honor. It be a fantastic if they did it to any in the court of the Formals. If anything happens then the peasants as well as the nobles will be up in arms with them.
Ms. Blanch wasn't thrilled about his added condition however the main point was to secure Italica as a neutral zone. She'd need to send out word that the rules will be even stricter than first imagine. Guess she will need to select calmer level headed soldiers for this. The two signed their forms and the deal was struck. Ms. Blanch was irked by Pina's stubborn stances but she had come to expect it. All imperial prisoners they had captured were too prideful, almost deifying their leaders. Course unlike the Japanese they break down the moment a knife is pulled, talk about nepotism. Pina on the other hand was glad that this deal had gone this well. She was honestly expecting for them to toss her and the countess in chains. To have an outcome like this was unheard in all imperial history. Upon the finish of treaty signing she had Hamilton copy this treaty onto a scroll. For now, she will oversee these Ameri-Cans in action. Any weakness she can find, any chink in their impenetrable armer could mean the difference between resounding victory, or certain defeat for the empire.
As the treaty was signed Lelei, Tuka, and Rory were discussing financial dealings with a local merchant. He expected a few trinkets of worth but upon seeing the massive amount of perfect condition wyvern scales. He begins to worry that he'd run out of coin before they could sell their scales. After haggling the two came to a deal.
"I can only pay two hundred in gold sink. The rest I can pay with four thousand silver Denari. Sad to say that puts me one thousand more behind what I can pay you." The merchant apologies as he inspects one scale. "Normally I can pay you in statements but due to the conditions It will hurt my business."
"That is fine, I propose another form of payment." Lelei responds.
"Oh, what are you preposing my dear?" the merchant asked.
"Information." Lelei answers causing the merchant to go silently with a dumbfounded look on his face. Seeing how confused he was Lelei explained herself. "I want you to gather information about the stock prices from every market. As detailed and widespread as possible about as many products sold through commerce. This information will prove pivotal for the residence on Alnus hill who have begun growing a settlement under the Americans. The men in Khaki's. The taxes are fairly small and will prove to be encouraging for merchants willing to make the trip to the settlement."
The Merchant remained quiet for a few moments before finally speaking. "So… you want to purchase. Information?"
"Yes." Lelei answers.
"For the payment of one thousand silver Denari?" The merchant continued.
"Yes." Lelei answers once more.
"… well then." The merchant said before leaning back in his couch. "Consider it a deal. Should have expected nothing less from Sage Kato's dispel. So, where should I send this report too?"
"Alnus Hill. The boarder place will be guarded but as long as you don't show any hostility the Americans will leave you well enough alone. They have also laid signs out in the common tongue to help direct travelers as well as rules for trading in the region." Lelei remarks before remembering something. She pulled a scroll and handed to the Merchant.
"What's this?" The merchant asked before looking at the list.
"Before leaving I asked what was prohibited at alnus, they are still making the list but the few things that are greatly frowned upon are written down on that parchment. This should help prevent any wrong doings while at Alnus." Lelei explains as the merchant read the list. Somethings were obvious like siege weapons, unlabeled poisons, and common stones. However, the one that stood out was slaves. He hadn't gotten his hands into the slave trade but the way it was underline left an impression that these American despise it more.
"I see… Thank you kindly. This should help." The merchant said before tucking the paper away. "Will that be all?"
Lelei shook her head and the two helped her carry the huge sack of wealth with her back to the jeeps. As they carried along the three spot Eastwood standing beside Fujita and O'Hara. They were tasked with picking a handful of the prisoners to take back to Alnus hill.
"Those two. Over there. And the one with the feathers. She too." Eastwood pointed out.
"I See." Fujita said as she wrote down the girls as she does she begin to notice that majority of people selected were female. "Um sir. I don't mean to pry but isn't it hypocritical to say your happily married but only picking the women to save?"
"Pacifically the cute ones." O'Hara added.
"Oy. Don't be spreading the Bee's wax and calling it honey." Eastwood remarks before turning to the two. "Look reason why is we know what they do to female captives. Best they be in our cells compared to theirs."
The two looked at each other before remarking at the same time. "I suppose that's true." "Yeah doubt they be getting a fair shake here."
Eastwood gives a nod before noticing three familiar faces. He waves to them before remarking. "How goes the scale sales?"
"Fairly well… I think." Rory said in an unsure tone. "When you live as long as I have you tend to forget the point of wealth. Or starvation as well."
"We got what we need." Lelei said before showing the three the bag of coins.
"Can we head back? I'm sure father is getting worried about me." Tuka pleaded.
"Um… we are leaving in thirty or so. So, give us a few minutes to wrap this up." Eastwood said as he looked at Fujita uncomfortable. She gives a shrug with equally uncomfortable look on her face as well.
"Alright, Think I'll be in the… car." Rory said before stretching. "That battle really took so much out of me. Think I'll take a quick nap."
As she walked along she stopped in her tracks before turning around. With smug smile on her face she remarks. "Course you are free to join me. Not many men have the pleasure to lay with an Apostle of Emroy."
That remark got the reaction she wanted, even though she didn't see Eastwood's face she knew what it was. He grinding his teeth and squinted his eyes in rage. Grumbling something under his breath as Rory walked away chuckling. He has never met anyone as annoying as her. By now he should have thick skin but she always found a way under it. He took a deep breath before turning to the girls. "Pick the last prisoner and get ready. Going to check in with Ms. Blanch before we pack up."
Fujita and O'Hara gave a nod before looking over the prisoners. Which was somewhat difficult since most of them gave either hateful or lustful looks. Eastwood made his way to the manner as he did a few civilians stopped in awe. Then they begin to thank him, offered a drinks, food, and even their children to be their squires or wives. He of course declined the offers as politely as his Saderan Latin allowed. While the thanks were flattering at first it started become a bit much. All he did was his job. He was grateful that they no longer look at him as an invader but it was a bit much that he was being hailed like he single handled defended the entire town. All he did was shot the bad guys. Ain't nothing more then that. He eventually made his way inside the manner before being escorted by one of the maids to Myui's quarters. Upon entry he found the kid speaking with Ms. Blanch.
"I see, so we can use the poppy's as a pain killer? Fascinating. This will save on heavy spirits and mages." Myui remarks.
"Yes, though do note the substance is highly addictive. Recommend that you keep the substance under lock and key as well as keep tabs on those who use it." Ms. Blanch warns before taking a sip from the tea. As she does the two notice Eastwood's presence.
"Ah, Sir Eastwood. Excuse me for not noticing, I was speaking with Ms. Blanch about using the poppy plants for medicinal purposes. Didn't realize a cheap vegetable could hold such potent pain killing juices." Myui apologies.
"It's fine. Was going to tell my superior that I'll be heading back to base with the V.I.P's." Eastwood reports.
"Oh, your leaving?" Myui asked.
"Yeah. Still have a mountain of paperwork that I got to finish back at base." Eastwood said with a sigh.
"Yes, believe more is added since you left." Ms. Blanch replies gaining a silent sigh in annoyance from Eastwood. Ms. Blanch then remembered something and quickly pulled out an envelope and handed it to Eastwood. In English she continued. "Still if it's not too much of an inconvenience, deliver this to General White."
"(sigh) Yeah sure. What is it?" Eastwood asked.
"A request for a demonstration. If we wish to breaker peace we might as well show that America can produce somethings yet seen." Ms. Blanch answers.
"I am eager to see these. Moving pictures as you call them." Myui added.
"Along with that is the letters she had written to her father. Show's that we are fulfilling our end of the agreement." Blanch also added.
"Hmm, I see." Eastwood said before asking in Saderan Latin. "Ma'am can I ask why not turn them in yourself?"
"I'll be staying here with a garrison. Want to make sure this treaty will be enforced from both parties." Ms. Blanch said before pausing she leans back and rubbed her temples before beginning in English. "Lieutenant… I have worked with many military leaders, soldiers, organizations, and people. But I have never met one as stubborn or controlling as this princess Pina. I pity you for it."
"Pity me, Ma'am?" Eastwood asked with a perplex look on his face.
"I am sorry to say this Sir Eastwood. But I know her highness for as long as I have lived. She is loyal to the empire and emperor. She has struggled all her life to live up to heroes of old but women are not looked upon as favorable as your country." Myui interjected as she looked down in shame. She had no idea what they said in English but when the mention of Pina and the look on their face They were clearly annoyed by something. So, seeing that they have been nothing but helpful she decided to trust her father and prepared herself to make the ultimate choice. For what she was going to do next can be perceived as nothing less; Then high treason. "It wasn't till the war between the Empire and the Americans she was given a job that was above her station. Reconnaissance and information."
"… um. Not to be rude. But I knew that already." Eastwood said as he rubbed the back of his neck unconfutable.
"… What?" Myui asked with a surprise look on her face.
"Yeah, the way she acted around me and my squad was strange. But also seeing how she was eying me made it even more strange. If this were any other person it would probably be seen as them acting silly. But seeing she's the princess I figured that she was trying to find out as much about us without saying she's a spy." Eastwood said as he thought back to all the strange stairs and sideways glances, he got from her. It was uncomfortable experience. "As my brother once said, 'Ain't nobody acting like a fool unless they are up to something. Only fools believe themselves not to be the fools, are the fools.'"
"… So you knew she was spying on you." Myui asked feeling a huge weight off her chest but at the same time like she was hit with iron pot of stupidity.
"I mean yeah. Hell anyone could recognize that she was up to something once you look past that posh attitude." Eastwood said with a shrug.
"Seconded. She's acting like a school girl who want's attention from a boy without saying so." Ms. Blanch added as she recalled her younger sisters' time on the playground.
"… Ok… but if you knew why she was spying why let her continue? Wouldn't it be easier just to capture her?" Myui asked having no idea why they would let her spy. "Or kill her? I don't suggest it sir and madam but this is quite perplexing."
Both Eastwood and Blanch looked at each other. She did have a point. It would be so easy to take care of the princess. Hell, the entire town would help if asked. Still they didn't. Eastwood decided that Ms. Blanch would answer this better. With a nod Blanch replies. "Well. We could but we much prefer her to act as an intermediary, between the Emperor and us Americans. We don't this war but if they don't return what they have stolen then we will continue this one-sided war."
"And American's are sick of war." Eastwood added with a grim sound.
Myui was completely silent. These people were strange. While it's understandable if they refuse to capture the princess on the ground that she was of noble blood. Even understandable that they want her to send a message that if the Empire continued this war then they shall bleed itself dry fighting an enemy that can end them in minutes. The only thing that perplexed her more was their desire for peace. She has been in the high courts of Sadera but never has she heard of any soldier or general wish for peace over victory. In fact, they be hoping for either a long one or the next war to begin. So why are they so tired of war? Have they lost, or suffered beyond imagination in the previous war? Before she could inquire what Eastwood meant the doors open and in stepped Princess Pina.
"Oh… I do apologies. Seem you were having a private conversation." Princess Pina said in a half-hearted apology as she surveys the room.
She looked at Myui who quickly shot her eyes to the ground in shame. Her eyes turn to this woman, Ms. Blanch as she prefers. When she tries to give her Imperial stair all she got was a cold and stern look from her. Then her eyes turn to the man with the big iron. Eastwood. He was holding some sort of strange parchment. She noted that it would be in her best interest to collect it. Perhaps tonight when they are asleep. As she stairs on Eastwood felt uncomfortable by the stairs. It was like a little girls infatuation. Deciding he had enough he cleared his throat before remarking.
"You were, till the shutter scared the chickens." Eastwood remarked as he crossed his arms. That one-line brought Pina back, realizing she was acting un-princess like.
"I do apologies. I was wondering when you Ameri-can's will be leaving. I heard talk that the citizens were getting… restless by your soldiers' presence." Princess Pina lied, she only found one or two citizens who despised the Ameri-can's.
"By tomorrow morning. We'll be gone." Ms. Blanch remarks as she grabs her tea. "We want to make sure that all the citizens are well on their way to recovering."
"How… noble of you." Pina struggled to praise. "But… I must ask. What were you two talking about?"
"Poppy's Princess. Or how they could be use as pain killers." Eastwood remarks before turning to Ms. Blanch.
"Anyways, see you back at base Ms. Blanch." Eastwood said with a tip of his hat before leaving. Before he could leave Princess Pina stop him.
"I'm sorry but where are you heading too Sir Eastwood?" Princess Pina asked.
"Alnus Ma'am. My job here is done. Now I'm heading back." Eastwood answers. Pina's eyes widen. She needs to spy on him more. If she could find a way to denounce his name she might be able to sway public opinion and get more of the citizens of Italica to her side.
"But, you're a hero of the people Sir Eastwood. We should have a banquet. In your name. For the deeds you and your soldiers have done." Pina said in an imperial charming tone, all while trying to play to the man's glory.
"Um, I think there are too many dead to call for celebration. Why not hold an honor for the dead. Don't need me to do that now." Eastwood dejected causing a small Chibi Pina in her head to fall to her knee's and curse her failure. Seems these Americans were not so eagerly pride bound.
"Oh, but you being here would be such a gift. Many see you as a hero Sir Eastwood. Surly a few words would mean a lot to the people of Italica." Pina said trying to guilt him into staying.
"Words mean nothing without action. Those who died saying they protect their city and families to their last said their peace, and back them words up. Ain't nothing more that can be said." Eastwood once again states much to Pina's disappointment.
"B-But I must insist. As a royal highness to the Empire I demand that you stay for the banquet. If not for me then for the people of Italica." Princess Pina said in a demanding tone. Her last card. It is considered the highest insult to deny her. If he does she made a chink in that armor. If he stays then she will be given extended time to find that chink. Maybe even steal away that Big Iron. For the Empire would need weapons such as that weapon to effectively fight in this war. As her inner chibi self grinned with much delight that little self was put on hold by the first six words that came out of Eastwood's mouth.
"… Are you being sweat on me?" Eastwood asked causing that chibi pina to pause and shatter.
"I beg your pardon?" Princess Pina asked.
"You being sweat on me. You know, infatuated or in love with me?" Eastwood explains causing Pina to take a step back in shock.
"W-Wha… How dare you speak such… accusations." Pina said with a blush on her face.
"Well, ever since I got here you've been eyeing me a lot. And seeing how you are insisting that I stay despite the fact that all I did was stand still and took pot shots, it must be for a reason. I mean what else could it be? Spying?" Eastwood explains causing her to freeze. By the smirk on his face he gave a glance that shattered Pina. He knew, and was trying to get away. Saying that she was either falling for him or spying would made things worse for her then her ploy of defaming Eastwood. He played her. This… old man played her for a fool, and she could not admit it.
"Tsk, look. If you must know I'm married." Eastwood said before raising his left hand to show a golden ring.
"And happily, so. So, no I won't attend nor fancy you because my wife would kill us both. Secondly The fly boys did more then me and my troops. Hell, one of them is a great singer. Airman first class Larry Birkin's, I think. He'd make a better speaker then me. Thirdly, I have a mountain of paperwork. I'm sure you understand that better than anyone else." Eastwood explains before giving a sigh. "(Sigh) so again. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll be around. Just not today. I wish those who survive their best but I must be on my way. Till next time we meet, good day Princess."
Eastwood then walks away, leaving Princess Pina complete dumbfound. She was played and she couldn't do a thing about it. All she could do was watch in silence as that man walked down the halls, with the clinking of his spurs. As he does, Grey and Hamilton watch from behind a column. They overheard the whole argument and both had different reactions. Hamilton was absolutely furious. That man should have bowed at her feet and yet to add insult to injury turn her own words against her. Grey on the other hand found it to be hysterical. Not many soldiers could turn a high borns words against them with such skill. To the princess as well. He struggled to hold back his laughter. As Eastwood walked away he spotted the two and gave a simple tip of his hat before walking away. He headed back to the car, this time escorted by the maids. They gave their thanks before Eastwood walked away. Smiling that he'd return. A friend in the Mojave Patrol told him a new letter from his wife had arrived and he was more then eager to return and read it. He entered the vehicle and noticed the three girls in the back. They must have been exhausted from last night hell, so was he. With a smirk he laid back with his hat tipped down and prepared for a nice nap back to Alnus.
Things were peaceful for the most part. Nothing out of the ordinary appeared. Enjoying the nap Eastwood dreamt of simpler times. Him on his family's porch racing through the fields of wildflowers off the Bitterwater road in the Californian Valley. Just him, the wind, his dog and his older brother. After a while his pa would call out and they race on home to each the corn grown from their fields and drink the lemonade that their ma made from her own garden. Oh, how he yearned for those days. The farm was gone sold during the great dustbowl of the thirties. But the memories and sigh of wildflowers were still as fresh in his mind as if it was just yesterday. Course that dream was interrupted by the loud revving sound form the scout bike.
"SIR!" Zimmerman shouted as he revs his engines.
"Hmm wha?" Eastwood asked as he looked around with groggy eyes.
"We got company, lieutenant." Hathale said before pointing down the road and handing him some binoculars. Groggy Eastwood looked out to see a huge dust cloud of knights on horseback waving a banner of a rose. Surprisingly majority of them were women. No younger then sixteen if he had to guess, oldest ones were possible in their thirties and male. Still he wondered what were these knights.
"Who in the Sam hell are they?" Eastwood asked only for Lelei to pop up.
"I believe those are The Rose-Order of Knights." Lelei said as she lowered her own binoculars.
"The who now?" O'Hara asked.
"Oh those twerps. Hmm I'm surprise that they are here and moving at such speed." Rory mused as she wiped her tired eyes.
"Mind filling us in on who are they?" Eastwood asked.
"Well, see women aren't allowed to join the military. Not, through slave means at least. But Princess Pina wanted to… how you say, break that glass wall?" Rory remarks as she tried remembering the saying.
"Ceiling, but yeah." Eastwood corrected before asking her. "So she started her own knighthood. Are they any good?"
"Phfff, hardly. They trained for war with the best teachers, but her father only keeps them around as a Honored guard. So as long as you do your business of keeping your distance it should be a hour, maybe less before leaving." Rory explains.
"Yeah… except we made a deal not to attack in neutral territory which we are still in." Zimmerman deadpans. Before turning to Eastwood and speaks in English. "So, sir… what's our play."
Eastwood remained silent for a few moments. Thinking things over. It then came to mind that Pina was trying to get him to stay. Maybe get a friend out to sneak them in. While it would break the treaty, she would have an upper hand and expect casualties and captives. A little irked Eastwood made his decision, by existing the car.
"Zimmerman. Take my spot. Radio Ms. Blanch and warn her. Corporal Get ready to drive this car like a bat out of hell should they choose to attack." Eastwood ordered as Zimmerman enters shotgun.
"So your running away?" Rory asked noticing how they weren't pulling out their big guns. Eastwood nods and she then asked with a hint of disappointment in her voice. "I have no doubts you can escape from them in this, car. But they will still give chase. What then?"
"I'd give them what we like to call, The Road Runner's ploy." Eastwood smirked before getting on his bike he shouted to the forward car telling them to pull to the side and let them pass. All the while Rory tried to figure out. What was this, Road Runner's ploy?
The horses came to a stop. These nights were exhausted from racing. They had received word that Italica was under attack. Called upon by their lady they raced to defend the land. Whom was attacking this important city was unknown but they have tales about a force from Alnus hill Men in Khaki clothes, and their leader a man who wields the big iron. As they ran in the distances, they came across a strange shaped cart, with men and women in them. All dressed in khaki. While not one to jump to conclusions they could be the enemy. So they hold fast, and two women approached.
"… Noble strangers. You stand before Panache Fure Kalgi, first of the barren of clan Kalgi's and holder of the rank of White Rose within the Rose Order Knights." The women with silver blond hair said with nobility in her tone.
"And I, Bozesu Ko Paresuti. Of house Palesti and holder to the rank of Yellow Rose." The blond with drill hair stated with the same amount of nobility in her tone.
"Identify yourself, and where from you hail." Panache demanded.
"… I'm Brooks. I came from the Big Easy." Brooks replied before Nathan pushed him aside. Always had a thing for blonds. Never met one that was so blonde that it was silver.
"Uh, sorry. My friends a bit simple. I'm Nathan Scott. How may we help you fine ladies?" Nathan asked with a smile… to which was punched almost instantly.
"Hold your tongue, low blood. We are not some filthy maid that you could swoon over with self-grangerized tales of fiction." Bozesu said with a snarl as she reeled her hand back.
"Hey, I'd prefer it that you don't hit my subordinates for minor convictions." An older voice called out. The two knights turn to see an old man, wearing a strange hat and sitting on a strange vehicle.
"You lead these strangers?" Panache asked as she looked over him with a curious eye.
"Lieutenant Eastwood. Of the A.E.F. Leader of Third Recon." Eastwood introduced gaining the eye's of the two. "We are returning from Italica to Alnus hill. We wish no harm, and will stand aside to let you and your soldiers pass by with no altercations from us, sound fair."
"Alnus Hill… A.E.F… Eastwood." As Bozesu mumble these things her eyes widen realizing who the man was before her. Eastwood. A High-ranking member of the invaders. Upon the realization she cried out. "TO ARMS! THEY ARE THE ENEMY FROM THE OTHERWORLD!"
Almost upon instinct the knights behind drew their swords and lowered there lances. They all revved their horses as Bozesu got off her hoars and drew her blade. Panache who held her blade to Brooks face shouted to Eastwood.
"IN THE NAME OF HER MAJESTY SURRENDER TO THE ROSE ORDER KNIGHTS OR BE SENT TO HARDY YOU SAVEGES!" Panache decree's only for Eastwood to call to her.
"Hey! No need for this. Your commander, Princess Pina sign a…" Before Eastwood could finish the knight named Bozesu slapped him across the face.
"Silence savage. You will remove yourself from the metallic junk and dare not speak her name. You're lucky that we don't kill you where you stand." Bozesu sneered only to receive a horrifying stair from the old man.
"… As I was saying. We parlayed with you princess. We have the right to return to and from our base unharmed under the conditions…" Before Eastwood could finish Bozesu tried to punch him, only for Eastwood to grab it and quickly twisted her arm forcing the noble to the ground. Off his bike and seeing three of them racing towards him he let out a sigh.
"(Sigh)Fuck it we tried!" Eastwood said before pulling his Sequoia with a fancy twirl. "Go on, get on out of here!"
With that one shot fired upwards into the air, was just enough to cause chaus within the soldiers. Their Horses never hearing a gunshot or one as loud from a 30-30 Winchester before panicked and bulked their riders off. Using the distraction Eastwood holstered his California Sequoia and got back on the bike. As the cars drove away in the opposite direction Eastwood revved the engines before driving through the crowed. By then Bozesu had gotten to her feet and charged towards him. However, before she could Eastwood revved so hard the bike came up doing a wheelie. Defending Eastwood and bashing Bozesu to the ground, all while giving her a nasty gash. Eastwood drove through unstopped before driving into the fields. Fiddling around with the scout car's radio.
"Bozesu are you alright?!?" Panache asked as she race to help her. Bozesu didn't answer immediately. Rather she looked on in anger at the man riding away on that… thing. Angered as she grinds her teeth she shouts in furry! "Mount up! I want his head! The first one to slay their commander will get a recommendation from her majesty herself!"
The knights looked at each other for a few moments before quickly getting back on their horses and chasing after Eastwood. Entirely forgetting the others. They now have the chance to show their true valor. However, what they didn't know was that they will be made fools twice in one day.
Play Ghost riders in the sky by Neil LeVang
In the fields. A mother and daughter Warrior Bunnies were making their way to Italica. They had escaped from the north where their kind were used as breeding pens. They had traveled a long way to find refuge with the Formals. Though the rumors about men in Khaki's was terrifying they seem to be attacking the Imperial dogs who rapped her and her child. Besides, some of the rumors were to outlandish to believe. Fending off a flame dragon, or killing a hoarse with big iron? To ridicules. As the two carried on over the fields so no bounty hunters come after her or her kin. However, something soon became apparent, it sounded like chippering. At first they thought it was a hoarse and looked around to see if they were spotted. Then they heard strings. Playing together like music. Music that they never heard before. It got louder and louder before suddenly something flew over the small hill to the side of them. The two look up and in slow motion see's a metallic beast with a man riding on its back. The object crashed down and rode away, playing music. Before either one could even ask what in the name of the gods was that, horses of hundreds of knights came over chasing after the strange machine. The two looked at each other before thinking to themselves. 'Was that the Big Iron?'
Eastwood had turned on the radio on the Harley. While he could call for help he was playing the role of bait. He patched through music currently being played from Alnus hill. Funny enough it had to be Ghost rider. Still least it make for an interesting road runner chase. The bike could easily out race the horses and the fuel was popped off before. But he allowed them to get close to give them the idea it was possible to catch. A much difficult situation if it wasn't for the fact that they didn't had any guns or bows for that matter. So all he had to do was drive in circles.
He tossed a few insults back. Teased them by letting them get close and dodging their strikes with ease. Even made a joke by removing his hat from his head and waving it like one of them Texan boy's. Course he didn't get too cocky, this was all for show. And it seems to be working. He can hear the cursing and insults coming from Bozesu, Panache, and the other knights. Calling him a coward or shouting for him to die with honor. Honestly though their insults mean nothing. He has been called worse by better men. Meanwhile back with the two, Bozesu was raging mad. Her chance to fight for her friend and show her father was ruined by an old man and his magic moving iron. She called him the worst insults she could imagine and yet he didn't care. He'd just smiled back and occasionally pull out that hunk of iron to shoot thunder from it. He was mocking them, mocking her. And this would not stand. Meanwhile Panache was more level headed. At first, she didn't see it but when she witnessed the old man slowing down and tricking two of the lead knights into crashing into each other she realized he was just playing with them. Had he given a try he would of out ran them on that strange device. However it was too late now. She must capture this machine and kill the man named Eastwood. For she must not fail her highness.
This game of cat and mouse lasted for five whole minutes and not one of the girls was able to catch up. Eastwood on the other end has caused multiple accidents. Five crashed into each other. Twenty went sliding in the mud, fifty of them flew off their horses, two of the fifty got stuck in a tree. It was pretty amusing to see these snotty girls fly like pigs. However, his crowning moment was when he spotted the two Bunny warriors so he popped a wheelie in the air and held out his hat before screaming out to them. "HI HO SILVER!" The look on the little girl's face was fairly encouraging and she seemed entertained by this. The mother by the look of things was confused by what she was witnessing. However, the fun had to come to an end. As Eastwood drove through the hoard of tired, injured, battered, and pissed off girls he noticed up in the sky a few buzzards coming his way. Giving a sigh he came to a stop and turn the motorcycle around. Only one that remained was that blond and silver knight.
"HAVE AT THEE YOU SAVAGE!" Bozesu screamed as she raced forward with imperial pride fueling her.
"FOR THE SADERAN EMPORIRE!" Panache scream in equal furry of imperial pride as she followed Bozesu.
The two rode towards Eastwood with the intention of impaling him. Rolling his eyes at this childish tactic he got off the bike and took three steps forward. He placed his leg down back before placing his hand over his California Sequoia. He waited a few moments before pulling his gun and firing two rounds He pulled out his big iron and waited. Aiming carefully before firing two quick shots. Before the girls could hear the crack the horses went flying out from underneath them and they soared through the air before crashing down into the mud. Sliding painfully to a stop. Both girls groan in agony as they tried to pick themselves up. Failing to get off the ground the struggled to look up to see Eastwood twirling his revolver back into his belt. In the sky they see a strange object moving down, all with soldiers dressed in Khaki. Before passing out Eastwood replies simply. "Should have walked away."
Hello everybody, Wombag1786 here.
Phew that took longer than expected. Not the chapter, my semesters Finals… well technically it forced me to rush this chapter but eh semantics. Right so along with Finals there was a glitch that effected the last chapter. At first, I thought it was me but it seems I ain't the only one who was effected. Been deleting and re-uploading that chapter for some time. Now that it's fixed and Finals are complete, I can jump back to work. With that said this chapter was a lot of fun, we get to see the imperial soldier experience The Bull Frog cry (Recommend YouTubing it's surprisingly funny to hear them scream. It's like cartoon children who met a flasher). Meet Sir Walker Miles, and witness the infamous Road Runner ploy, chase scene with catchy music to go along with it. (Wish I could add more but I want this chapter done now before my retinas leaking out of my eyes from staying up writing this.) But that's enough for now. Let's go over your review and questions.
From wwgaming: Heh, yeah. Strange how classical music fit's more into violent shoot outs, mutilation, and chase scenes, better then death metal. Or at least in my opinion
Thanks for writing wwgaming
From Panzerhill: Should be fixed now.
Thanks for writing Panzerhill
From Zealot24: I am tempted to move, but I think I'll stick with my roots. This doesn't happen often enough for me to quit. Thanks.
Thanks for writing Zealot24
From zaelanizaelani99: Ah well that's easy to answerer Z99… there was a glitch. It's fixed now.
Thanks for writing zaelanizaelani99.
From EvilTheLast: Thanks, glad that it's done and buried. Now to answer your question no. It's early 1950's aircraft. Helicopters were just invented, and so were jets. Some where equipped for fighting but majority were transport. Had to bend history a bit, but the results speak for themselves here.
Thanks for writing EvilTheLast.
From BelowZer0: Yeah, it's fixed now. Hope you enjoy both chapters.
Thanks for writing BelowZer0
From Perseus12: Well, the olive branch she offered was shat on… and still on fire. Kind have to work out a new deal to fix that.
Oh, Eastwoods name has become famous. Or in the Empires case Infamous. And that notoriety will draw attention, question is what kind? The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly?
As for Zeke, he's a side character at the moment, but he will play and important role soon enough. He, Freeman, and Victoria. (Still looking for a way to bring a Federalist in but I'll get their eventually.) Heh, Your not entirely off the nose with that one. A certain swordsman and his daughter will arrive but not from the other world.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter.
Thanks for writing Perseus12
From ChoyTheUSChamp: Yeah, here's hoping as well. Thanks. Hope you enjoyed the chapter.
Thanks for writing ChoyTheUSChamp
From Dasgun: … Speak.
Thanks for writing Dasgun
From MarauderPrime12: Thanks, hope you enjoyed this chapter.
Thanks for writing MarauderPrime12
From Avro 683: True, however Pina had learned a fatal weakness that will slow the rate of the American Advance. In ancient times during the Peloponnesian war Athens used a new tactic of taking Spartans hostage. The Empire already has them and I'm sure you can think of some devious ways they will slow down the advance.
Thanks for writing Avro 683
From GoodguysRoverated: Thanks, It has gain more attention then my Fallout Story. Honestly, I'm hoping for my other story to gain more traction. Still it was nice for you remark.
Thanks for writing GoodguysRoverate
From FoulerGlinter60: Thanks. Glad you enjoy the small aspects of world building. Um, well I wouldn't know what old coke taste like compared to today. But I do love Mexican cola over American cola. (Glass vs can, you can taste the difference.) Um, stirred. Shaking a cola ain't a good idea. However, if you want to shaken do a Manhattan. (2 ounces of Bourbon or rye, 1 ounce of sweet vermouth, 2 dashes of Angostura bitters, 1 dash of orange bitters, and a cherry for garnish. Add all ingredients into a mixing glass and either shake or stir it. Strain the liquid into a glass with ice, add a cherry for garnish and wham, Manhattan.)
Thanks for writing FoulerGlinter60
From Eddie199: … Maybe. Granted nobody will side with them just because they are the empire. *More along the line of oil. Or new territory. Maybe, their history will probably be told for propaganda purposes. … Actually now that I said that out loud yeah it would work wonders. Why fight for an empire that craves power, over one that fights for liberty.
Thanks for writing Eddie199
Anyways this was a lot of fun to write. Especially at the end. Please Fav and Fol the story leave a comment or question down below. This is Wombag1786 signing off.
