In Italca, Princess Pina's quarters
3rd POV
Princess Pina sat at her desk, looking miserable and angry. She had try talking more about this Eastwood. Any kind of dirt she could get on him. Any would help in this war. She had witness the strength of these Americans first hand and she knew that the empire was incapable of fighting them in any kind of open combat. Though if she sends a message to the senate saying such a thing they would dismiss it entirely. Flying steel Pegasus, battle mages at the ready, and no rhyme or reason to why they have attacked. It was hard to believe. Hell she witnessed it all and hardly could believe it. For now, she must survey the remaining soldiers still here. Any weakness no matter how small could mean snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. Course, Grey simply suggested learning why and perhaps using it for grounds of negotiation.
As much as she admires her teacher, that is possible the dumbest idea the old man could ever suggest. Peace, with these barbarians? Even if she does wish for peace, those in the senate would never humor the idea. Peace would be a sign of weakness and worst what would they be trading for this peace? Servitude to these men in Kaki? Her wedded off to some noble? Pff, probably that Eastwood. She blushed for a moment before shaking her head. Scolding herself that he was way to old. Old enough to be her dad, maybe even her grandpa.
Since their departure she has heard nothing but Eastwood this, Eastwood that. She's sick of hearing that name. Least it came with some details. Apparently, the man has a reputation among the foreign invaders. A man of three war's, seems these Americans have been fighting wars back-to-back. The one with the empire being their fourth. Eastwood had served and survived all of them, and was about to retire when the war between the Empire and Amer-ican's begin. Along with that he was something called Mountaineer. A rank that meant to be held by the best of the best. Easiest way is to recognize a Mountaineer is their weapons. A Cali-forian Se-quoia. They call them. She has no idea what this Cali is or a Se-quoia. But a common nickname was the Big Iron. If perhaps she could smuggle of their weapons then maybe she would give the Empire a fighting chance. There mages are small but much better train then these barbarians.
But atlas these American's are too smart. Never do they leave these weapons behind and for the most part are securely attached to their persons at all time. Trying to steal from them would be impossible and if she killed one to achieve this, and that's a big if, then she would be suspected and the deal she had put into place would trap her instead.
This all frustrated her, and did not help at all now that she had to write what she had learned. Struggle as she could but what should have taken an hour ended up being a mess of crumpled letters. she had failed to do justice in describing the terrifying force the Amer-icans possess. Nor any weakness's. All she had was the deeds and rumors of Eastwood. As she started her seventh draft, the door burst open and in raced Hamilton with panic in her eyes.
"Your majesty, your majesty!" Hamilton screamed as she nearly tripped over the rug.
"By the gods, Hamilton can't you see I'm busy!" Pina shouted in anger before looking down, realizing she accidently spilled ink on the letter, ruining it. With an angry sigh she leans back before looking at her trusted friend with a twitch of anger. "Hamilton. Would you care to explain why you are disturbing me? And it better be for good reason."
"Huff, Huff. I beg for your forgiveness but Eastwood. He has return." Hamilton said with a huff of exhaustion before finishing her sentence. "And he brings the Rose Order Knights, in chains."
Pina went silent before her eyes went wide. Her beloved friends. In chains. This... this won't stand. Quickly finding her sword she equipped it and raced out the door, not bothering to put on armor. But she had enough time to tell Pina to grab Grey, a few knights loyal onto the emperor, and Countess Myui. With that order she made her way to the southern gate. Where she can see a huge crowed forming.
Down below the crowed came racing over to see the metal beast return again. However, to their confusion was the number of knights they brought with them. They were rather hard to recognize with the amount of mud and shit covering their faces but it took them a few moments to realize that they were the Rose Order Knights. The people begin mumbling rumors before a few soldiers escorting Ms. Blanche pushed through the mob.
"God damn it Eastwood. The hell were you thinking!" Ms. Blanch snapped in anger at Eastwood who was helping the little warrior bunny girl and her mother who tagged along for the ride.
"Was thinking that they needed a ride. Seeing we were both heading towards Italica figure we give them a ride." Eastwood remarked as he tipped his hat to the mother who was still confused about what just happened.
"I meant the knights!" Ms. Blanch snapped as she pulled on Eastwoods ear.
"Ouch, hey. They started it." Eastwood remarks painfully as he pulls his lobe free. "Didn't my team radio in that we were attacked on the road without provocation?"
"(Sigh) They did, however did you have to bring them here? Few people are spreading lies and with this it will be a shit storm." Ms. Blanch remarks. However, before Eastwood could comment the two girls shouted out into the crowed.
"Unhand me you savages! I am Panache Fure Kalgi. Daughter of Barren and head of clan Kalgi! By the law's birthright you shall unhand me and bring me to your leader. If any of you lay a hand on us swear your head will be waved in the faces of those you love as they are sold into slavery!" Panache shouted towards the soldiers before turning to the crowed of peasants.
"People of Italica. I beg of you. The men in Khaki's are small in number. Free us from their bonds so we may liberate the city from the barbarian hold over it!" Bozesu shouted to the locals. Each one giving a perplex look. They had no idea what is going on but they weren't doing anything to the girls. Hell, if anything they looked mildly annoyed by them. Normal soldiers would have beaten and raped them yet they are going through great lengths not to smack them.
Their silence and hesitation was noted and Imperial Glory got the better of the soldiers. In a rage Bozesu shouted out to them. "By the gods, I command you to do something! Have you no courage or have you lost your senses, low borns!"
That comment must of irked someone because shortly after a rotten fruit sailed through the air and plastered Bozesu smack in the face. Enraged Panache screams out. "Who dares to throw rotten fruit at the daughter of Marquis Palesti, head of…"
Before she could even finish some one tossed goat shit at her face. Soon the formalities dropped and the two went into a shouting match between them.
"Fuck off you high born twats!" "Lowborn scum, you'll pay for that!" "These men save us, and you dare command us?!" "Traitors, every last one of you!" "I'd say slit their throats here and now!" "I'll see your head removed, your wives raped, and your children sold!" "We only follow her lady, not you Saderan scum!" "Italic shall be rendered into the ground for its betrays of the Empire!"
"… I stand corrected." Ms. Blanch looked on not sure if she should have the soldiers separate them from the girls. For the knight's protection. As the two sides squabble, they were silenced when familiar faces appeared in the crowed.
"What is going on here!" Pina shouted out as she Hamilton, Grey, Myui, The Head Maid, and a few maids made their way through the crowed. As she does the knights go wide, seeing the princess their standing among the crowed, and vice versa, her knights covered in mud, shit, and vegetables. Enraged she turned to Eastwood and pulled her sword from the scabbed pointing it at Eastwoods neck. "How dare you treat them in such manner. And on the day we signed the treaty no less. Give me one reason why I should not remove your head from your neck."
"I can give several reasons but the first being the people ready to drop you the moment you take another step closer." Eastwood said pointing out the number of gun's trained at Pina's head. "Secondly I did nothing to them. If anything, they started it. All I did was led them on a goose chase while my men got to safety."
"Tsk, while you may have a point about the soldiers, do you really believe me to think that they didn't attack for no reason? For all I know you could have taken the opportunity to rape them and they defended themselves." Pina accused gaining a ping of annoyance from everyone including Eastwood.
"Lady, I'm married. Happily, and again, they engaged first." Eastwood snapped as he give a dirty look to her.
As the two stared at each other with dirty looks, the two were interrupted by Myui who was unsure who's side she should take. On one hand was Princess Pina. She, was her role model and was like an older sister to her. On the other hand was Eastwood. A soldier who risked life and limb to deliver a message from her father. Still if this were to get anywhere, she must take a side.
"Sir Eastwood. Your Highness. Something has happened here but we won't be able to prove it unless we hear exactly what has happened." Myui remarks.
"Yeah, suppose some evidence would prove my case." Eastwood relented, not in the mood to argue with the snob tossing accusations like a monkey's do to their shit.
"Yes, but not from your soldiers. For all we know they could be lying about it to cover up what really happened." Pina said causing another twitch of anger in Eastwood. He let's a sigh before rebutting.
"Fine, we picked up a few hitch hikers who could shed some light on this." Eastwood said before motioning to the two warrior bunny's.
The mother was hesitant while the young daughter was estatic. She had no idea what was going on but she got to ride in the strange machine, watch a man out race knights, and now in a place that should be more excepting of her kind then anywhere else. It was like Christmas morning for her.
"You two. I'm sorry that I must asked, but did you witness what has happened between the two?" Myui asked the two.
"I'm afraid we only witness the end of it my liege." The mother said with a bow.
"Then tell us what you have witnessed." Pina demanded gaining a defensive stance from the mother.
She remained quiet, mostly because she was unsure what she had saw. After a few minutes the daughter speaks up. "We were walking. Making our way to Italica when we heard the sound of shouting and strange music. When the man came flying over us on that metal machine."
The little girl then pointes the motorcycle as it gleams brightly in the sunlight. The girl then continues. "We watched as the man drove around with the knights racing after him. They said all kinds of nasty things and tried to kill him."
"Did he do the same!" Princess Pina demand causing the girl to hid behind her mother's leg. "Answerer me!"
The girls said nothing as she hid behind her mother's leg. The mother was moments away from pulling the knife from behind. However, Ms. Blanch saw this and took measures to prevent any further tension. Pushing Pina aside she kneeled down to the child's level before speaking.
"It's ok. You're not in trouble. Please carry on." Ms. Blanch said in a smooth almost motherly voice. This managed to cox the child out from behind her mother before continuing.
"Well… he didn't attack them. He went to great lengths to disarm them without touching them." The little girl stated gaining the hateful eyes of some of the rose order knights. They were just able to remove some of their restraints, but waited for the time to strike. First one to die, was the brat and this Eastwood.
"I see, did the soldiers kill any of the remaining knights? I'm fairly certain that this isn't all of them." Myui asked.
"They left them tied up on the side of the road. Weapons still with them, even gave one a knife. However, they scared away the horses. So, they will be walking here or any nearby settlement." The mother responds. "Other than that, there was no casualties."
The scene goes silent. The people begin to murmur, and it didn't look good for her. She then turned her two soldiers who were eyeing the soldiers angrily till their eyes turn to Pina who's look of disappointment and anger caused them to whimper silently.
"I see, thank you both." Myui said before turning to Bozesu. "Bozesu of the house Paresuti, when you first met Sir Eastwood and his soldiers. Did he do anything to instigate conflict."
Bozaeus who remained silent as she looked down at the ground. She refused to answer the question. Her pride had gotten her into this, and her pride prevented her from getting out. It wasn't till Pina ordered as she crossed her arms. "… Answered her Boze. That's an order."
"… They didn't attack. Least till I engaged first… they didn't provoke us either. Rather offering to move aside for us." Bozesu said with a sadden look on her face causing the entire crowed to gasp and holler in disbelief and anger.
As for pina. The world went silent. This was on Bozesu and Panche. If they hadn't acted so rash then her own plan wouldn't have backfired. As she looked down completely speechless, she felt a cold presence behind her.
"So… what was that part in the treaty stating non-violent clause?" Ms. Blanch said with a cruel smile as cold sweat fell from Pina's brow.
"Princess, I do not know what deal you have struck but surely we can over power them now that we have arrived." Bozesu pleaded before being swatted across the head.
"The deal was that Italica and the lands surrounding it will remain a neutral zone. Should any army attack another then the attacking army will forfeit rights to the city leaving it under defending supervision." Pina snapped only for Ms. Blanch to remark.
"And seeing you breached the contract; your pride has lost the entire city." Ms. Blanch stated with a smile only for Pina to turn to her.
"How could they have known about the deal!? This shouldn't count!" Pina demanded only to hear Myui gives her opinion.
"Sadly… princess. It does." Myui interrupted as one of the maids hands her the letter. "You made it so that any attack, no matter how small would count as an assault. I'm sorry but by the rule Zufmuut, you are forbidden from bringing an army into Formal lands."
The crowed begins to murmur. They will be under the Americans rule now. While this was met with uncertainty the Americans were honestly just as surprise. Capturing an entire city and no shots were fired. Course only if Pina kept her word which was difficult to say by the look of sheer horror on her face.
"M-Myui… you can't be serious." Princess Pina begs with a horrified look on her face. "Without Italica, the empire will starve."
"Then I wish for a quick war, but by oath I must yield to the American's." Myui said with her head held down. "I'm sorry princess, but you and your guard may enter the city as guest if you like, the land will remain neutral for negotiations."
Despite her attempts to comfort the princess, this moment only spelled betrayal for a few members of the Rose Order Knights. One quickly broke free of his bonds and grabbed a hidden dagger in his boot before charging towards Myui. All while screaming traitor. Time slowed as the man raced towards Myui. The maids tried to get in front but the man came crashing down. The blade goes through and blood spews forth, however not from Myui. Rather in an instance a loud painful yelp was heard and the would be killer looked up to see Eastwood before him. The knife plunged into his left hand but working through the pain held onto the would-be assassin. Eastwood fought through the pain as he spots a few more in the prisoners getting up to try and kill the closest people, including the two warrior rabbits. Without a second waisted Eastwood's right goes down and pulls his California Sequoia, while he headbutts the attacker. In that dazed state he twists the man around and puts him in a choke hold with his left arm. Revolver at the ready he fired off one shot, two shots, three shots, four shots, and fifth shot. First one killed the man rushing to the mother and daughter, Second one racing towards Ms. Blanch, third one hitting the man trying to aid the other, fourth and fifth shot killed the two going for the nearby soldiers. Each one dropped dead before Eastwood kicked the back of the attackers leg, sending him to his knees and before anyone could do a thing he snaps the man's neck. Killing him instantly.
Time speeds up and everyone was gasping in shock at what had happened. Soldiers raised their weapons and were moments away from shooting. The knights looked on in horror as a single man killed six men within seconds. Myui could only look on, seeing not the barbarian that Pina had been trying to paint as, but as a hero. Eastwood looked around at the prisoners who saw the man with fear. He then turned his attention to the knife in his hand. Painfully he pulled it out before tossing it to the ground. As he painfully holds his hand he looked over the girls who flinched as he gave a cold dead stare.
"… We would have let you go." Eastwood said as blood dropped to the ground. "But it seems pride was more important. As my brother would say. Pride is nothing but the downfall of good men."
He then motioned to Ms. Blanch who was wiping blood from her face. She then remarks. "As of now, you are now prisoners of war. For attempting to assassinate a member of your own country, defy a peace deal for neutrality, you are charged with fifteen years of prison time. For war crimes."
She then motioned to the troops. To which they grabbed ahold the remaining knights, a few in crowed came over to assist the soldiers. As the girls and men squirm and struggled while screaming profanity, Pina looked on in horror. Her knights, arrested? Imprisoned. Horrible thoughts of what they will do to them filled her mind. Realizing that, she approached Eastwood as another soldier wrapped gauze around his hand.
"Sir Eastwood, you can't take my knights. Only the few have conducted themselves inappropriately." Pina begged.
"Inappropriately?" Eastwood stated with a deadpan look. "That's not the word I use."
"… (Sigh) Fine, unacceptable but surely you can't arrest them for something they haven't done." Pina pleaded.
"And if the roles were reverse, would you extend the same curtesy or have us all cut down?" Eastwood said as he flinches a bit in pain as the medic finishes patching his hand.
Pina opens her mouth but nothing came out. She wanted to contradicts what she said but truth be told, only Ms. Blanch would be spared. The rest would have their heads cut off and stuck on pikes for all the enemies to see. However she had no time for this, she must save her knights. Perhaps she will ask some to bear the unbearable burden any women of high-born status would go through in times of war.
"… Your right, but if you let my knights go… then some shall volunteer. To be your concubines." Pina said causing Eastwood, Ms. Blanch. And any soldier who were in earshot and understood Saderan Latin to stop and turn. They all looked at her with disgusted expressions on their face. It wasn't for a few moments before Ms. Blanch spoke up.
"… What, in the actual hell. Is wrong with you?" Ms. Blanch said with a disgusted look on her face.
"I beg your pardon?" Pina asked having no idea what she said to offend these soldiers.
"Slavery. You are willing to give up your own soldiers, to save you and your higher up's own hide." Eastwood asked with a dead eye glair as his hand is put on his big iron.
"Yes… I think. It is custom for defeated armies to offer up the…" Before she could finish Eastwood cut's her off.
"Your custom. Not ours. You're sick, twisted, and savage. Custom." Eastwood shouted in absolute disgust.
"Savage? Sir Eastwood let me remind you that we aren't the savages here." Pina snapped back. The nerve of this man. Holding her soldier's captive and having the gull to call her savage. She will admit slavery isn't something she approve of but it is a necessary evil.
"Princess, of all the corruptions civilization has put forth, slavery by all agreements is one of the worst." Eastwood stated with much despise.
"Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his upper rooms by injustice, who makes his neighbor serve him for nothing and does not give him his wages." Ms. Blanch quoted 22:13 with distain in her voice as she looked on at Pina with a confused look on her face. So to restate what she said. "We follow three unfathomed truths. The right to Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. While we may have struggled we have worked hard to follow these three principles. Slavery contradicts those three and thus we despise it. So I suggest you watch what you say next. Otherwise, I'll have you arrest on the charge slavery. Punishment ranges from forty years of prison to death by hanging."
Pina opened her mouth but the eyes on her told her that she should really think before she say's what comes out next. She waited a few moments before stating. "I… then I'll offer up myself. As prisoner for whatever my fate is to come at your hands."
As she said that the rose orders knights begin calling out not to throw herself to the mercy of these barbarians. They willingly offered themselves up as whores. Others kicked and scream that if anyone lay's a finger on her then they will hunt them down to the end of times. Ms. Blanch however had her own idea. Princess of the Empire could have some weight to tracking down those taken by these Imperail bastards. So with a clear throat she remarks.
"They are still under arrest, however in a month their will be meeting of top government officials. Come to Alnus hill and we will negotiate for the return of your knights." Ms. Blanch states.
"Can you release some as good faith?" Pina requested.
"Would you rather be with them in the brig instead?" Eastwood asked rhetorically. "This is a take it or leave deal. No negotiation."
"Along with that only your squire and second hand can accompany you. Bring any unknown troops will have them detained and if you more then a few dozen we will consider them hostile. Do you understand." Ms. Blanch explains the conditions of negotiation at Alnus so she doesn't try to do anything smart.
"… understood." Pina said with her head held low. Her schemes ended up hurting her and the empire at large. Least she could hide the information of her failure… for now. But regardless. She had lost the city, the Ameri-cans.
For her own safety she, Hamilton, and Grey were booted from the city. She headed south to retrieve her remaining soldiers before making the journey to the Appia Highway. Just outside the boarders of Italica. The Rose order knights were to be held in the brig till helicopters arrive from Alnus to transfer them to alnus new prison. When news reached General White he was taken back by this. It was kind hard to believe what had happened, hell Ms. Blanch could hardly believe it. Regardless, this was a huge victory for the Americans. And the news that the Princess will be coming to negotiate sent a fiery wave of shock and excitement. While plans were put in the way of ending the war quickly, none involved peaceful motives. Now, they may have a chance for peace without needless bloodshed.
As for the people of Italica. Basic plans have been put into place. Italica will remain independent with their own army, lordships, and free to tax imported trade. However certain objects are forbidden, including American weapons, poppy's, and slaves. Slavery was deemed illegal with punishment ranging from high fines to lengthy prison sentences. A small blow to merchants in the flesh trade but they have a new source of trade that was easily worth more. The people of Italica now free from restraints set upon by the Imperial Saderan rule, begin speaking with the Americans. They had so many questions about them. The Americans were more than willing to answered them. Things got really interested when one soldier who brought a radio. American folk and jazz filled the streets of Italica and the people were hooked.
As for Eastwood, he was once again revered as a hero of Italica. All he did was stabbed, didn't really felt like it was worth the praise for doing his job. Still, he was given a room in the Formal Mansion and was given the status as a respect guest. As he listens to music by Dizzy Gillespie Cole Porter, Harlan Perry, and Benny Goodman, he got to work cleaning his California Sequoia while helping himself to a canteen of old number seven. As he cleans his revolver a knock came at the door.
"Come in." Eastwood said without looking away from his revolver. The door opens and a handful people came in. After a few moments Eastwood takes his eye's off his revolver before looking back… then he lifted his head to make sure who he was seeing wasn't a figment of his mind. Before him was five girls dressed in maid uniforms. Slightly confused Eastwood asked. "Um, can I help you?"
"No, but they shall be here to help you." The head maid said before pointing to the maids. "Sir Eastwood. You have done more good then any foreign army has ever done for Italica since Antonius the kind. Along with that kindness you have shown valeur and courage today by defending Lady Formal and the city. To that the lady has allowed us to serve you for the rest of time you bless us with your presence."
The maids then give some kind of salute, bowing by picking up the sides of their maid outfit and side stepping with polite nod. All while saying in unison. "We're proud to serve."
"Oh, um thanks." Eastwood said unsure how to take it. Never he had the luxury of maid service before. None the less he's sure if he didn't order anything it would be considered rude. So he asked unsurely. "Um, by chance I can get some water? Maybe something to go with old Jack."
"But of course, you only need to ask." The head maid said before the human maid and cat maid left. As they fetched water and meat, the snake haired girl got curious and went over to him. Watching as he applied a brownish substance to a rag. As he does the snakes begin to shudder and she covered her nose.
"Ugh, what is that Sir Eastwood." The girl asked.
"Gun oil. Helps clean my California Sequoia." Eastwood replies.
"Huh, really? I thought they were called Guns?" The Bunny haired girl asked.
"That's an umbrella term. All firearms have their own names, this one is referred to as a California Sequoia." Eastwood said before taking a sip from his flask. It seems the maids were more curious than he'd expect, because now they started to get closer and more intrigued by Eastwood's answeres.
"California Sequoia. Is that the name of the inventor?" The Snake haired girl asked.
"Heh, no California, is the state, or area it was invented in. And the Sequoia is the name of the tree that the handle is made from." Eastwood said before giving a knock on the handle.
"California? I thought you were Americans?" The bunny girl asked.
"California is a part of America. The western most part. America, is a collection of states that came together to form one country. Originally thirteen it has recently become fifty." Eastwood explains as the girls returned with a small platter of bread and meat as well as a jug and cup of water.
"We hope you enjoy. We don't know what goes with this, Jack." The Cat girl said unsure what Jack is.
"That'll do. Thanks." Eastwood said as he takes a small piece of meat and put it between the two pieces of bread. As he ate snake haired girl moved closer with bright eyes.
"Wow, your countries must have fought a lot of wars to obtain that big of country." The snake girl asked with wide eyes. Before Eastwood could explain that most of the territories that became states were actually bought, the human girl swatted her head.
"Aurea! Don't do that. He's a guest not your meal." The girl said much to the snake girls disappointment.
"I do apologies for that, but Aurea is a Medusa. Her snakes are capable of sucking the life force out of people." The head maid states before looking at the apologetic Aurea. "I have trained her not to do it to guest but occasionally she does slip up."
"Oh, heh thankfully I'm not Brazilian. They might be tempted to allow it if she smoked a pipe." Eastwood joked thinking back to battle of Miami when the Força Expedicionária Brasileira or F.E.B's dawn the Smoking Snake as their mascot.
"Brazilian? Is that part of the united states?" Aurea asked.
"No, but they are allies." Eastwood said as he takes another bite of the sandwich. "Regardless their forces adopted the symbol of a smoking snake. Mostly do an expression about the day something happens is the day a snake smokes a pipe. Ironically enough they turn the saying around and phrase the day the snake stops smoking began. Or something like that in their native tongue."
"Oh, so they would like me in Brazil? What's it like?" Aurea asked with some excitement. Only to be tugged again by the girl.
"Aurea, don't bother Sir Eastwood." The girl hushed.
"Heh, it's fine. Really. The Jazz specials are coming to an end anyways." Eastwood said as a country twain began to play. He turned off the radio before turning to them. "I'll be more then happy to answer her questions… sorry I just realized I don't know your names."
"Oh, Suppose we didn't receive a former introduction. I am Head maid Kain. Mohmu Is the human, Aurea the Medusa, Mamina the Warrior Bunny, and Persia the Cat person." The head maid known as Kain introduced to which they all bowed.
"Pleasure to meet you all." Eastwood said as he tipped his hat. He then went back to answering Aurea, as the other girls listened with great intrest. "Now, I never been to Brazil but from what I understand Brazil has dense rainforests filled with rare animals. But it also has tropical beaches with white sand along the cost. Most people travel to it for exotic fruits and beaches but recently I heard they will be holding a soccer tournament. Suppose to be big."
"Oooohhh, I might have to ask the lady for time off, so I may visit. Sounds like home to me." Aurea said with some excitement.
"So, did you work with these Brazilians?" Mamina asked.
"No, I was in the Rocky's during that battle. I was however working with the Japanese Expeditionary Force." Eastwood said as he leans back in his chair thinking about his old friend.
"Oh, are they also another allied country?" Aurea asked.
"Yep. And unlike Brazil I've been there." Eastwood said as he thought back to the Chinese civil war. He traveled to Tokeyo as a volunteer. There he and Kin toured the city. Even spent a few weeks at rikugun shikan gakkō where he trained in a multitude of martial art. Then he was shipped to Korea before heading up to Manchuria lines. There he fought with many brothers in arms. He had to shake the memories of the beautiful country from his mind before remarking. "It's a beautiful country. Especially when the cherry blossom tree's bloom in the spring."
"Were they excellent warriors?" Mamina asked earning a chuckle from Eastwood.
"Heh, heh. Excellent warriors. Their sole occupation up to a hundred years ago was nothing but combat. They may have stopped but they still hold military to a high standard." Eastwood Explains with a smile and faint memory of agony and brutal training.
"So, what were you and the Japanese fighting?" Persia asked, this time it caused Eastwood to frown.
"… (Sigh) A civil war. A very long, and bloody civil war that everyone would like to forget." Eastwood said as he looked down at his revolver. While many young recruits see it as a weapon of high honor, all Eastwood could see, is the amount of American blood this weapon had spilled.
"Oh… sorry I brought it up Sir Eastwood." Mamina said with her ears flopping down in shame.
"It's fine. Bound to come up eventually. It's not something we look upon fondly. But I suppose the proudest moment of that awful war was the battle of Salt Lake City, or at least seconded to the ending of it." Eastwood said recalling the hard-fought battle and victory that it brought.
"Oh, you were there?" Mamina asked.
"Yep, part of the Mountaineer division at the time." Eastwood remarked with a smile as he points to the old bear symbol.
"Oh, are the Mountaineers any good?" Mamina asked. Before Eastwood could answer a loud Shriek can be heard from the other side of the door. Sounds like O'Hara
"ARE THEY GOOD!?" O'Hara shouted before the door opened up with her, Zimmerman, Jones, Brooks, Pérez, Rory, and Tuka all falling to the ground. Sadly, for Nathan on top of him. Meanwhile Hathale, Fujita, and Tuka stood by and watched as Nathan struggles in vain to get out from under the pile. Before long O'Hara quickly got off and raced to Mamina.
"THEYARETHEPRIDEOFOURNATION! THEYHAVEBEENPUTTHROUGHHELL, WILLINGLY, ONLYBADOFTHEBADASS'SCANGETINANDTOBESELECTEDTOBECOMEONEISANHONOR!" O'Hara screaming a mile an hour before Hathale pulled her back.
"Private Roisin O'Hara. Get ahold of yourself before me or the lieutenant pull rank." Hathale snapped at her.
"I…" Before O'Hara could finish she notices the eye's on her. She quickly straitens herself before speaking. "Sir, may I speak freely. Sir."
"By all means private, but answer me this. Why were you outside the door?" Eastwood asked with a somewhat creeped out tone in his voice.
"After an unexpected gas leak, we had to push the car to Italica. When we arrived we like to check in on sir. We ran into Ms. Mamina and Persia. They said they will be telling you we wished to see you and well, we've been waiting outside since." Hathale explains before looking over at the two mentioned maids who nervously rubbed the back of their necks realizing that they forgotten to tell Eastwood. Despite not knowing what they are talking about they could guess what Hathale said.
Eastwood noticed this and gave a small sigh before turning to O'Hara. Speaking in Saderan Latin. "Alright, feel free to tell them about the Mountaineers."
He then noticed Rory had gotten out of the pile and was eager to listen. She hasn't heard more then Mountaineers being elite soldiers. So hearing old war stories intrigued her interest. Seeing that interest in her eye Eastwood added in English. "Oh, but do keep it brief. I'm sure there are more interesting stories from an old rough rider then semi-retired Mountaineer."
He gave a smug look seeing Rory's disappointment after slowly translating what he said, however before she could protest. Head Maid Kain had already spotted her and begin praising her with all kinds of compliments. As Rory was stuck listening to Kain ramblings O'Hara told the story of the Mountaineers. As she told the story the view shifted to the flames of a nearby fireplace. In the Embers showed an image of settlement being sieged by the Powhatan tribe during the Anglo-Powhatan war.
"Mountaineers, are the sub-Branch of the U.S Rangers. Men and Women who were sent deep into enemy territory. The Rangers themselves began in 1622 after the James Town Massacre, men driven by grief went forth armed with basic wares and understanding of Native and European tactics to their advantage. After evening there loved ones, they have come to be known as earliest form of the American Ranger." O'Hara explains as the images in the fire turned into citizen soldiers armed with small arms setting ambushes and using native American Tomahawk combat to avenge the dead. The flames of those first settlers to the day's to revolutionary their they used the same combat against the British.
"These men proved to be vital during the war for our nations independence. Famous leaders like Israel Putnam, John Stark, Thomas Knowlton, George Rogers Clark, and Francis Marion came to be leading men of the Rangers. Their actions and tactics are still in use to this day. They would be molded overtime, used in multiple wars as specialist however things all came to ahead during the War of Frater" O'Hara states as the view of the famous Swamp Fox, and Clark fighting guerrilla warfare. The view shifts to multiple Indian wars, war 1812, Mexican American war, and the civil war. It then ended with the view of the Mountaineers being officially formed in Phoenix Arizona one year after the Second American Civil War begin.
"Knowing full well that we could not take on all three armies at once, General Patch suggested we take the rangers further. For this will be war will be of patience, not might. The Mountaineers would be trained in Reconnaissance, Intelligence, Fast draw, Biathlon, sabotage, and extreme climate survival. Their first test was at the battle of Cañon City Colorado. Where they fought all three armies at once. They held the line just long enough for the Mojave Patrol to bring air support and General White's motorized division to reinforce it. From then on, the Mountaineers earned the famous phrase 'Nos pauci, defendere plagam' We Few Defend the West.'" O'Hara explains as the fiery embers showed the Mountaineers defending the city from C.A.S Tank division, The AUS Texan Rider's carvery, and the Federalist devastating Bomber's. All had tried to take the city yet only the PSA managed to hold it by sheer grit. As the soldiers posed for propaganda purposes, the scene shifted to a raggedy poster in Salt Lake City.
"They were instrumental in the war, however their biggest challenge was at the end, during the battle of Salt Lake city. In the Crossroads of the west, PSA Mountaineers faced the full blunt of the Federalist and Canadian Special forces known as the K.A.S. Among those K.A.S was a man known as Walker Miles. The man known as the Butcher. He had a knack for killing, even taking pleasure in doing it. His favorit target, was P.S.A Mountaineers. He'd hunt them for days, weeks even. And when he catches up, he'd leave them on deaths door, and take their Sequoias as trophies." The flames showed a down Mountaineer. Trying to crawl away with a bullet in his gut. As he tries to, a bayonet impales him in the back. There Sir. Walker Miles stood above, twisting the rifle around causing much pain to the soldier. After having his fill of screams he retrieved the Sequoias from the Mountaineer and tucked it into one of his back holsters. Five holsters, all holding blood-stained Sequoias. He then pulled his Webby which at the time only had fourteen tally's. He shot one round right in the neck and watched the Mountaineer choke on his blood. As he did, he tallied this kill as his fifteenth.
"Weeks, of fighting and with multiple casualties but somehow, the Mountaineers were victorious. Not only pushing back the K.A.S and Federalist, but also opening up a pathway to the other side of the Rockies. Where the march to Washington led to the end of the war. The Mountaineers are still in active service, taking up multiple skills including horseback riding, unarm and armed martial arts, and even some taking it further with intense archery. The only way to become a ranger is to be in the top ten of your class and then passed an additional test that cut that number in half. The top three of the five receives the California Sequoia's, as recognition to there dedication." O'Hara said as the flames version of Walker Miles was stopped halfway through his marking when a round grazed his shoulder. Turning around was a younger Eastwood. Bludgeon and beaten but somehow finding the strength to stand. He fired off another round hitting Walker in the arm before he could get a shot off. As he drops his revolver Eastwood charges and tackles him back into the wall, causing it to crumble apart and the two took a nasty fall. As they fell the scene show's K.A.S forces and Federalist retreating as the P.S.A Flag stands strong among the ruin city. The view pulls in on the flag before the scene around it transforms. From the fiery log, to the freezing cold snow dancing around the symbol
In the mountains Range of Ice and Snow
The view pulls back to show the scene was no longer in Italica. But in the northern mountains far away from Italica. On the freezing mountain stood a Mountaineer. Dressed in grey uniform made up of winter coat with build in hood and pads. Ski goggles around his neck. And dark baize color pouches. Armed with a 1942 Winchester, a pair of dark blue cross-country skis, and the California Sequoia on his hip. He looks down over the cliff, with a pair of binoculars. Down below was a settlement. Their a prison camp of sorts was established. The Empires victory had won them the rights to the mountains and thus have used this narrow passageway to expand their slave trade to the north. There they have captured an assortment of unknown Humanoid, tribes' men, and beast not seen before. The men were forced to work in the mines while the women, kept to soldiers warm and not by choice. Word came down that a shipment of fresh slaves from the south were brought here and not willing to give up any leads the Mountaineers were sent here. No backup, no supply lines, and only supplies they had is what they had on hand. Good, been awhile since they had a challenge. So far, it's been underwhelming.
The local game was plenty if you knew what to look for, patrols go missing all the time so it was easy to take them out, and even easier to make it look like an accident. And the cave systems, while housing the horrific monstrous snow spiders the size of busses. They were terrified of the light's and couldn't withstand the powerful 30.08, 45-70 gov, and 30-06's. However today was the day. The weather will be clear for the first time in two weeks and they have found a number of slaves that were from their world. Highest priority was the son of a Brazilian ambassador. The man has gone up and down the political chain trying to get his son back. Well today will be the day. However, as he watches from the ledge, he noticed a small band of soldiers moving towards the work camp. They didn't look Saderan's rather they look like giant man wolves. They were skilled seeing them take out a small patrol Saderans quickly. Whatever they were after, is unknown and their skills were formidable. Good, the Mountaineers are looking for a challenge.
On the ground. The band of wolf men were known as the Volraldens. A race of demi-humans whose appearance varied. Males looked like wolfs heads on giant human bodies while females looked like hairy women with dog ears, noses, and tails. Sometimes they would have more human features if the ancestors had mated with humans, elves, or dwarfs in the past. Despite the lack of fur on females their skin is able to keep them warm in below freezing climates. Making them a prize bed wench for the imperial guards stationed here. The fiercer they are the better. Course once they have either broken them or had raped them to the point of death, they would leave them in the snow. To either die of climate or internal suffering. Recent raid has stollen a number of Volralden shield sisters and pups. One among them was the high chieftain's daughter Accalia. So, the Fanged league was called forth to retrieve her before the Saderan invaders could impregnate her. Leading these dogs of war was Chief Volcatts, leader of the Fanged League.
He looks on at the fort. A settlement of stone built upon the bones of slaves who were worked to death to build the fort. Volcatt sniffed the air. His heighten nose helped form a mental layout of the perimeter. To the south and north was the main gates. Both heavily guarded. To the East was the mines and the small settlement of shacks that the prisoners bundled in after working to death in the caves. The east was a large stone keep with it's own walls. Beside it was a huge gated cave. Inside was a frost spider queen. Saderans would toss unrulily captives to it. Sometimes for entertainment. If feeding the slaves to a spider wasn't enough, then the Saderan soldiers would take the women and use and abuse them within the keep. However, he did smell something else. It wasn't Saderan, in fact if anything they are covered in Saderan blood. Whatever it is, he can handle it. He had faced the ice wraiths of the north he can face these unseen enemies.
He motioned to his sword brothers and they moved to the side of the near the Eastern most part of the wall before scaling the wall with hooks and ropes. The first Volralden silently moved over the wall before spotting a Saderan guard. Drinking ale to keep himself from freezing. However, this consistent drinking did nothing but made things colder, and distract him from the wolf man behind him. In a few seconds the man's throat was slit and his body dumped over the side. The Volralden wiped the knife free of blood as he kept an eye out for patrols. Soon enough the group had made it over the wall and was heading to the keep. If she was not their then they slit the warden's throat. From what they understood, he was vindictive and cruel bastard of a man. A noble whose infamy was so well known that it alone forced him to this frozen wasteland. There he would take his frustration out on everyone. Slaves especially knew his wrath.
They made their way to the keep, killing any guards that posed a risk as they made it they quickly braced for combat only to find the place deserted. The keep may of have some lights but it was emptier then some of the slave huts. As they moved deeper in something set their noses ablaze. Blood. Lot's and lot's of blood. They can smell it yet are unable to see it, till they found the dinning hall. It was a massacre. Bodies everywhere and mangled, tables flipped over an destroyed, and something in the air that caused their eyes to water and nose to close. What ever did this, managed to do it without disturbing the guards outside.
Unable to use their sense of smell, Chief Volcatts ordered his soldiers to fan out and find Accalia or any other Volralden captive. They did as their told and found nothing. Nothing but bodies. Mangled in ways not fought to be possible. Chief Volcatts eventually found himself on the top most room in the keep. Opening a door slowly he spots a plump man wearing nothing but a fine silk sitting at his desk, looking on out the window. Figuring that must be the lord Chief Volcatts takes out his sword and moved towards the plump man. Ready to cut him down for all the evils he had wrought upon this world. Yet something was off. He had gotten to the man and was about to remove his head from his shoulders. Only to find that someone had slit his throat. And by the way he looked, he was crying for his life before.
"What, happened here?" Chief Volcatts asked before he got his answer. In window's reflection was a man in grey, moving towards him.
Acting quickly, he swings the blade at the mysterious man. He ducks under it before trying to impale Chief Volcatts with a rather strange spear. He catches the wooden and metal shaft before pushing it aside. Chief Volcatts delivers a devastating kick to the man's gut. Knocking the staff out of his hand. Chief Volcatts opens his mouth and prepared to rip the man's neck out when a knife came at his jaw. While it missed the fat, knife slashed at his cheek. The two disengaged before looking at each other. Chief Volcatts had no idea who the man before him is. A grey hooded man dressed in the most bizarre attire. As he takes in the detail of the man, he noticed something on his arm. A symbol of a bear in the sunset. It confused the Volralden, he had heard something about that symbol yet he couldn't recall where. He didn't have the time to think about it, the stranger made a break for his staff. Chief Volcatts quickly swung his sword but yet the figure was too quick. He had rolled over the low swing and picked up the staff. As Chief Volcatts races over to try and impale the stranger, he had turned the staff around before a sudden flash of light and large bang was heard. Chief Volcatts was sent flying back and out the window. Falling the ground and only cushioned by the snow.
He remained quiet for a few moments before letting out a cough and gasp. Whatever spell fired from that staff had knocked the air out of him. Fall didn't help either. Looking over his armor he noticed a patch of dents in his armor. Some strange round objects the size of pebbles were indented into the armor. He should consider himself lucky to have survived but the sound had alerted the Saderan guards. He had gotten to his feet when one spotted him. the alarm was sound and a few more appeared. They charged to Chief Volcatts arms at the ready. Chief Volcatts dodges the strike and with his sword cuts the man in half. He then parried the other before delivering a powerful kick to another's head. With the man on the ground and the other open, Chief Volcatts swings his sword and decapitates soldier before quickly impaling the other. As he removed the blade from the man's chest, an arrow pierced his back leg sending him to the ground. He looked up to see a few Saderan on the Keep wall. Armed with bow's they took pot shot's at Chief Volcatts. The Saderan's focused their training in swordsmanship, which is underdeveloped. But their skills with a bow was worse. As they fired at Chief Volcatts, he easily blocked the arrows with his sword. Using the slow reloaded he pulled the arrow from his back leg before standing.
More guards came running to capture or kill Chief Volcatts. So quickly he raced to the walls as the Saderan's above took pot shots. Meanwhile a few mounted Saderans raced over with massive spears. Chief Volcatts using his Volralden strength and acrobatics leapt upon the back of the hoarse before ripping the Saderan soldiers neck off with his mouth. Without missing a beat he leapt off the back of the hoarse and held onto the wall Grabbing ahold of an archers foot he pulled it to the side, causing the Saderan to fall and break his neck on the edge. Pulling himself up before the Saderan on horseback could catch up he begin targeting the archers who had very little time to draw their swords. As Chief Volcatts butchered the archers, more came running out from the wall. The Empire were known to swarm their enemies rather then train them. As Chief Volcatts begins to be overrun one Saderan had a shot to impale him the back of the neck. As he lept up, he was suddenly pounced upon by another grey wolf Volralden. He had tossed the man off the wall and begun defending Chief Volcatts back.
"Chief Volcatts, what happened?" The soldier asked as the Volralden decapitates a Saderan.
"I don't know Wolf. I ran into a man in grey and somehow he sent me flying out the window." Chief Volcatts addressed the Volralden as he cut's one in half vertically down.
"Grey man? I have yet to see anyone of that description." The Voldaran said before kicking a Saderan soldier off the wall. "Nothing but bodies. Think this grey man did it?"
Chief Volcatts gave a shrug as the two continued to fight the hoard of Saderan's when the Keep's doors flung opened and out raced the Volralden's. They raced towards the wall weapons drawn. Seeing the Chief and fellow Volralden in danger. Luckily too, just moments after escaping, for no reason the keep, exploded in a fiery burst of flames. The blast wave sent everyone flying. The Volralden mercenaries and a few Saderan soldiers survived the explosion, but were sent to the ground. Chief Volcatts nearly fell off and over the wall. As he picked himself up his ears were ringing and vision was blurred.
"By the god's… what, happened?" Chief Volcatts asked as he slowly picked himself up.
It was their he noticed something. In the distance was light's he had never seen before with a large group of people all being moved into strange metal objects. He couldn't see but his nose had picked up the sent on the wind. It was of his fellow Volralden's, and Accalia. His eye's fixate on one, and their he saw her. Being carried on a stretcher. Unconscious, bruises, and smelling of defiled emerging from her. The people loading the slaves onboard were hard to spot by their grey uniforms, but he can see them moving about. It then became apparent what had happened. They had destroyed the Keep, as a diversion. He must have been close to finding out how, hence why the man attacked. However that would have to wait. They had Accalia and his fellow Volralden's.
Standing up he called out. "To arms. The men in grey have our fellow Volralden's!"
The Volraldne's gave a strange look before the sent of their fellow Volraldens hit their noses. Without a second thought they quickly raced over the wall and charged forth towards the metal machine and grey men. However as they charged the machine begin to float up. These strange objects whatever they are, they can fly. Realizing that they won't be able to catch up if they took off. So with double the speed they raced forth to stop them. However things only got worse. The explosion and blood drew the snow spiders to the side, and the queen that has been locked away had broken free. The Saderans were killed within seconds. Their bloodcurdling screams was the only hint to the Volraldens that they are being persuid by the frost spiders. Eventually, the creatures surround them and the Volralden's were force to fight these hoarse size spiders. Only Chief Volcatts managed to break through while the rest distracted the monstrous spiders. He raced on, just about to catch up when the queen spider intervened by bashing into him. He was tossed aside before getting up to see the queen spider launching herself towards him.
He dived to the side, while picking up his weapon. Just barely dodging as the monstrous queen took a mouthful of snow. Angered Chief Volcatts shouted out. "Begone you damnable creature! I have no time for you!"
The creature lets out a loud hiss before charging at Chief Volcatts. He avoided the snapping pinchers of this monster, but every time he tried to charge the grey men the monstrous spider prevented him. He had enough and tried to end the creature quickly. He put up a good fight. Avoiding being impaled by its sharp legs, the silk that was as cold as dry ice, and being ripped by its horrendous fangs. As he stabs, slashes and bites the creature, it seemed he would have the edge when he cut off a leg. He leaps up intending to deliver a devastating impalement blow, however the queen side steps him and bashes him to the side. He rolled in the snow before slowly picking himself up as he does the queen hit's him with her web. As the substance holds him in place, the cold webbing begin to burn. He let out a yell as he struggled to break free, when the queen came forth and was about to feast on him.
However, something miraculous happened. As she opened her mouth to bite him, she only felt the cold steel of a strange weapon. The queen spider let's out a hiss of pain as Chief Volcatts looks over to see the man in grey before him. holding a different weapon with a knife attached to the end. He somewhat struggled to hold on but he twists the staff around causing great pain to the queen spider. In a last ditch she tried to force him back, but the man did something and the end of the staff lights up in a flash. Strange brass cylinders fell to the ground as holes and blood spewed out of the creature causing her to fall back in pain. Crawling away in fear. As it does, the grey man removed the box part of the staff off before placing in a new one. Once done he threw it over his shoulder and turned to Chief Volcatts. In a strange act the man pulled a knife out and cut Chief Volcatts free.
Chief Volcatts confused by this had little time. As the cries of the queen drew in frost spiders from all sides. Chief Volcatts grabbed his sword and the man pulled a strange small weapon from his side. The two back-to-back fought the spiderlings. Chief Volcatts with his sword, and the stranger, using a strange combat form with his weapon to toss the leaping arachnids to side before using the weapon to put huge holes in it. As the two fought on, in a pair the Queen Spider tried once more to kill the two. She leapt up, intent to crush them but Chief Volcatts saw this and pulled the stranger down as he lifted his sword up. The queen spider let's out a loud gasp of pain as Chief Volcatts struggles to hold the blade up. As he does, he notices the man pulling something out, a ball shape metallic object with a pin he had pulled. Without a secound thought he had shoved his hand into the open wound Chief Volcatts sword had caused before pulling it out without the object. The man in grey then grabbed Chief Volcatts and pulled him to the side, out from under the queen spider. It hiss's and squeal's in pain before suddenly the entire back blew up. Sending huge chunks of flesh flying everywhere.
The death of the queen spider was noticed by all. The spiders began to retreat. They would eat the dead once the living had left the valley. Chief Volcatts had looked on in aw. Queen spiders, much less a frost one were difficult to kill because of their hide. The eye's and silk sack were prized among sorcerers for their magical abilities. Yet thanks to this stranger, the battle was relatively easy. Speaking of him, Chief Volcatts was about to ask why he'd saved his life when he was now looking down the barrel of that same weapon he had used to kill the Frost spiders.
Chief Volcatts looked on at the man. He made eye contact with the hooded stranger. He was unsure what would happen now. Did he saved him only for him to kill himself? As Chief Volcatts stares down the metal tube the last of those metallic things took off, leaving the man in grey. The two didn't say a word, but simply stared at each other. That metallic object in the gray man's hand could kill a Frost spider, and Chief Volcatts instincts told him that he wouldn't be able to dodge it. Yet for some reason he didn't kill the chief. After a few seconds the stranger de-cocked the odd weapon before one of the flying machine flew over him. Without warning he was pulled from the ground and up into the cold air. All Chief Volcatts could do, was watch as the strange hooded man was pulled into the side of the strange machine as it flew south. As he watches another Volralden walked up beside Chief Volcatts.
"… What, in the gods name was that?" One Volralden soldier asked as he held his bleeding arm.
"I… don't know." Chief Volcatts said as he watches the strange contraption flying away with the soldier who had bested him in single combat yet saved him looked on. Seeing that fly away had finally caused him to recall where he had heard that symbol. Rumors of an unstoppable army from the south. Soldiers adorned in Khakis who carried a symbol of a bear.
"Wolf, Schmitts!" Chief Volcatts called out. Soon enough the two Volralden soldier moved forward.
"Yes, Chief Volcatts." Both Volraldens stated at the same time.
"Follow that metallic monstrosities. I heard rumors about men khaki's south of here. If these men of are the fable men in khaki, then they will have Accalia and our people." Chief Volcatts states as he watches the helicopter leaving with that one man watching on.
"Um, what will you do Chief Volcatts as we rescue Accalia?" Wolf asked.
"This is not the only Saderan settlement that holds or sword an shield brothers and sisters. I must attend to them before marching south. Upon my time watch those men." Chief Volcatts ordered to which Wolf and Schmitts nodded. They quickly moved back to get on their horses to chase after the strange metallic machine. All the while Chief Volcatts watches as the machine gets smaller. The view switches to the helicopter as it flew through the darkness. After a dark cloud passes over it the scene shifted from an American Helicopter to a Japanese one, flying over a beautiful countryside.
In Wellington New Zealand.
Despite the world being so fixated on the new world and the Empire that had attacked the United States, some countries payed very little mind. Either to own problems or lack of interest. New Zealand is the former of the two. Since 1940 they have been fighting a war with Australia, or as they go by today the Australian Union. They had swept the election with falsified votes, sent goons to those who politically opposed them, and stirred discontent among the population under the pretext that they must remove the chains set upon by a dethroned king. How Ironic that upon the election they bound those they claim to oppress in chains. Gulags under the pretext of 'Reeducation' camps were propped up in the Gibson Desert. Those who were sent, never were seen again. All it takes is the mere accusation to be sent to these camps, and many citizens were accused. However, those who could fled to the last bastion of safety south west. New Zealand.
A small island that doesn't have the man power nor resources to fend off the Austrian Union was holding on, by just a thread. For more than a decade the Land of long white clouds stood strong. From 1940 to 1942, the two nations have been fighting bloodied and intenseness navel and air battles. If the Australian Union gained a foot hold on this beautiful soil then their will be no stopping them from concurring the land. This all came to ahead two and half years later when they received support from a former enemy. The Empire of Japan. They had won the war in China and recognizing the threat in the south they sent military aid that easily doubled what the Canadian shipment was bringing in. Along with that experienced troops and battle tested supplies that were sorely needed. This relief came not to soon when in a month it all came to ahead during the battle of Greymouth. Australian forces broke through and invaded the city. Both Japanese and New Zealand troops under Lord Bernard Freyberg and Major Masatane Kanda. The battle was hard fought with multiple civilian and combatant fatalities but the attack was repelled. This led to a ceasefire as the Union of Britain had fell, leaving Australia alone.
Course no form of peace deals were signed rather a nonverbal agreement to leave each other alone. From then on New Zealand troops have been training. For a decade they have been training, preparing for the day they shall remove the jackboot of Syndicalism from the Australian commonwealth. While they wished for more support from the crown they weren't eager to disavow their Japanese saviors. They had worked alongside the Japanese to improve their weapons, divisions, and tactics. Such inventions included the Arisaka type 101, the Type 2 Owen gun, and only recently the return of the Type 26 revolver. Now updated to take Webby 455 Webley rounds rather then the Japanese 8mm Nambu.
The View had opened up in Wairau Valley. A beautiful place in the Marlborough region it has since been transformed into a bootcamp for training soldiers. Drilled in and out they train for the day New Zealand reclaims Australia from the Syndicalist menace. As the soldiers train, the view pulls in on a tent, inside the famed general Lord Bernard Freyberg went over plan's with a familiar face. Kyaputen Hansuke Kin. They were planning the invasion of Tasmania and the Gulf of Carpentaria when a lone soldier enters.
"Kyaputenhansukekin. Jama o yurushimasuga, watashi wa anata ni messēji ga arimasu." The soldier said with a bow of his head. Looking up Kin gave a wave of his hand to allow the soldier to raise his head. Before asking, "Messēji o sōshin shita no wa dare ka? Watashi wa isogashikute ki o chirasu hitsuyō wa arimasen."
"Sā, soreha kōtei jishin kara kite imasu."The soldier said before pulling out a letter stamped with the imperial seal.
"Kōtei, ten'nō..."Kin said completely shocked before taking the letter. He then dismissed the soldier before slowly opening the letter. Making sure he doesn't ruin the letter. He then read it slowly making sure to take in every single word carefully. As he does Lord Bernard Freyberg puffs on his pipe before questioning.
"If I may ask Captain Hansuke, what did you have there?" Lord Bernard Freyberg asked before exhaling.
"A message, from the Emperor himself." Kin replies.
"My goodness. What does the old chap have to say?" Lord Bernard Freyberg asked with a mixture of excitement and worry.
"He has heard of role during the Battle of Sacramento Valley." Kin explains earning a chuckle from Lord Bernard Freyberg.
"Heh, oh. You were their when the romans fought them Yanks?" Lord Bernard Freyberg asked with a small smile. It's been a few months and it still sounds ridicules. Romans on dragons? It's like the Nazgûl from the J.R.R Tolkien's novel epic. Rumor had it that he is writing a three part follow up based on the second Weltkrieg.
"Hai, I was. Funny enough I ran into an old friend while fighting the hordes of those, Saderan Imperialist." Kin remarks.
"Oh, small world, how is he?" Lord Bernard Freyberg asked.
"Last I heard, he led a defense against a fire breathing dragon." Kin answers flatly.
"My word." Lord Bernard Freyberg said with wide eyes. "… As interesting as that sounds what does the letter have to do with the American's problems?"
"They will be holding a public hearing about the world beyond the gate. Seeing how I was there during the attack; the Emperor has requested me personally to oversee the hearing in person." Kin remarks.
"Oh, so how long will you be gone for?" Lord Bernard Freyberg said with some worry.
"A few weeks at most." Kin replies.
"Ah, shame I suppose you won't be staying for a proper Kiwi Christmas." Lord Bernard Freyberg said with sentimental sarcasm.
"Heh, Truly. But it won't be for long. By this time next year, we shall be celebrating in Sydnie if all things go according to plan." Kin said with a smile as he tucked the letter into his inner coat pocket.
"Guess so. Well, I wish you safe travel Captain Hansuke" Lord Bernard Freyberg remarks before giving a salute.
"And I wish you well in the planning, Lord Bernard Freyberg." Kin said before giving a salute back. The two then separated, Lord Bernard Freyberg to plan the invasion the Union of Australia and Kin Hansuke to prepare to travel to the states, to oversee this hearing.
Hello everybody, Wombag1786 here. Well this was fun but I have some bad news. (No, I am still writing the story. God knows how many of you including me, have pet peeves about unfinished stories.) This will be the last chapter this year. I won't write another chapter till mid-January. I've been working on two stories and a project with a friend for a while and I like to spend the next few weeks with family before jumping to FF. So with some regret I write this saying thanks for reading, see you all in 2021. (Let's hope to god it can't get any worse than this year.)
Special Announcement.
However as I was writing this a thought accrued. Next chapter Eastwood brings a select group on over. They will travel the US. And stop at the National Mall. And seeing how I mentioned it becoming a hub of history unless we repeat history. (Something to which people are sadly doing right now. *Please, let's not get political. I have my fill from my "Trained Syndicalist" brother.) And it got my head thinking. What would fill this museum? Art, more pacifically Propaganda Poster art. Sad to say the PSA propaganda is lacking compared to AUS and CAS. With that in mind I propose this. Leave in the comment section ideas for a PSA Propaganda poster set during either the Second American civil war, or the Second Weltkrieg. (Special prize if it became an actual fanart poster.) The Top four suggestions will be featured in the museum. The challenge will end at the posting of the next chapter, giving you about a month and half. (Maybe double if the next chapter doesn't feature the tour.) So good luck to y'all.
Right, onto the reviews.
From Janny092: Hope this chapter proves to be exciting. And Yes, I guaranty the Empire is going to get it's ass kicked six days to Sunday by the end of the story.
Thanks for writing Janny092 (Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah, and happy New Years)
From Perseus12: Heh, I was tempted to have a few more. Something similar to that scene in Airplane. (The one where the women panics so passengers get in line to 'calm her' down.) But I can only juggle so many characters at a time.
Heh, a little cliché an a bit shorter then I want but it was fun to do. As for the two they will be helpful in upcoming chapters.
Thanks for writing Perseus12 (Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah, and happy New Years)
From MarauderPrime12: Thanks. I wanted to add a few more details but the song was a bit short for it. None the less I found it enjoyable to write.

From dovah-keen01: Fair essestment but I'm not using the Anime as a reference. Rather the Manga. In it they use "Bozesu Ko Paresuti" as her full name and Bozes as a nickname used by Pina. Something shown in this chapter. Hopefully this answer your question.

From FEV Grim: Heh, was funny.

From EvilTheLast: Heh or at least the original. Regardless thanks. Was a bit cliché but at this point cliché has a certain charm in this story. (That and the only other line I could think of is "You Yee'd your last Haw." Course that wouldn't work but I think I'll save it in my back pocket.)

From ChoyTheUSChamp: Thanks. Heh fair enough. Though once they do retrieve all captives they will be more willing to drop a few nukes. (Speak politely but carry the big sick policy at it's finest.) That's also true. A few countries besides the UK want to get their hands on it. Though attacking the only nation with Nukes is not exactly worth the risk of open conflict. Still they do say desperation calls for desperate measures.
Thanks for writing (Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah, and happy New Years)
From Eddie199: Oh, she tries that again, she will Yee'd her last Haw.

From Epic Reader: Groovy.

Well now that is done. Thank you for reading. It's been a fun year but now, I need a vacation. Go and enjoy your time with family and friends. (Unless you don't have any or any that don't make you want to burn the house down with everyone in it. In that case you have my sympathy.) With that said please Fav and Fol the story. Leave a comment or question down bellow. Add a description of propaganda art in the comment's or P.M a link if it is drawn. Have a lovely Christmas or Hanukkah and hope to god we have a better year then 2020. (Was really looking forward to 2020. Shame that it ended up being a crap year.)
This is Wombag1786 signing off for the holidays.
