The air was thick with the fumes of bubbling cauldrons as Hogwarts' first years finished their final potions class of the week late one Friday afternoon.

Slytherin and Gryffindor house shared the instructional period.

As a result of a very unfortunate pairing activity, Draco Malfoy and Harriet Snape reluctantly found themselves working together that day, brewing their sleeping draught as a team.

"Going home again this weekend, Snape?" Draco asked with a sneer as he added the lavender to the heated cauldron.

"Why should I not?" Harriet answered as she stirred the mixture in the pewter pot and glared over at her partner, "I like spending time with my family."

Draco snarled at Harriet as he narrowed his pale face and replied haughtily, "All your mother does is lie about and have babies. What makes you think she wants you to go home every weekend and get in her way?"

Harriet threw Draco an offended glare.

"I'm never in her way! Why don't you have any siblings, Draco? Were your mum and dad that disappointed with your birth?" She shot back.

"No." Draco replied with an arrogant sneer, "My mother and father knew they'd never have another child as perfect as me, so there was no need for them to try. You better hope you don't end up being an omega, Snape. You'll do nothing but lounge about and have babies too. I hear that your entire family can have its own quidditch team, isn't that ridiculous?"

Harriet opened her mouth to retort, but a low, velvet voice interrupted them both.

The words were enunciated with a deliberate delay, which made the question even more authoritative.

"Perhaps…...one of you can explain to me how this conversation pertains to your assignment?" Professor Snape asked.

"We're nearly done, sir." Harriet said as she looked up at her Potions Professor and nodded.

"Sorry, Professor, I was being distracted." Draco accusingly said with a smug grin on his lips.

"You have ten minutes left. I expect a full bottle of sleeping draught on my desk before the period ends." Severus replied as he scowled at them both.

After Draco and Harriet nodded, Severus walked on to inspect the happenings at the next table, but he kept throwing cautious glances back at the unlikely pair.

Severus Snape was not comfortable with the idea of any boy talking to his daughter about having babies, not even Lucius's son.

"If I end up being an omega, maybe I will do nothing but lie about and have babies, Malfoy!" Harriet snapped as she hastily bottled a small amount of the brew eight minutes later.

Draco frowned at her as she leaned in close to his face and hissed, "Maybe I'll even enjoy it!"

By then, Severus was sitting at his desk, watching as each pair of students sat the samples of their finished draughts down on his desk before they took their leave of the room.

He noticed the frown on Harriet's face and the scowl on Draco's before the Malfoy heir turned and walked away, filing into the hallway with all of the others who were happy to be finished with class.

Once the room was empty, Severus packed all of the vials into a small trunk for his later inspection and he turned to Harriet who had stayed beside him, her frown still on her face.

"Is there anything you'd like to discuss?" Severus asked his daughter in the silence of the dark dungeon.

"No." Harriet said with a frown, "Take me home, Dad. I want to see Mum."

Severus collected his trunk, a few documents, and the stores of vials and jars that he brought home on the weekends before he rose from his desk, took his daughter's hand, and led her out of the classroom.

The walk to the Snapes' family home in Hogsmeade was a short one from Hogwarts.

The close proximity of the house from the castle meant that the alpha professor could be with his mate every night and that his oldest child could easily come home to visit on the weekends.

Lights were glowing in the windows of the house while the autumn twilight faded as Severus and Harriet walked over the hill, through the village, and up the front steps.

Quietly, Severus knocked on the door.

He was still firmly holding his daughter's hand as the door swung open and a house elf, dressed in fine clothes that symbolized her freedom, gasped with a happy smile when she saw her master had returned.

"Professor Severus Snape, sir! Harriet Snape!" The house elf cried as Harriet threw her arms around the elf.

"Missed you this week, Tilly." Harriet whispered into the elf's ear.

Severus watched the house elf return Harriet's hug and exclaim, "Tilly has missed Harriet Snape too! But then again…...Tilly always misses her friend Harriet Snape….."

As Harriet and Tilly released each other and stepped into the house, Severus followed behind them.

He thoughtfully closed and locked the door with a nonverbal spell.

The Snapes' home was cozy and welcoming.

The furniture was soft and comfortable, the fireplace crackled invitingly, and the scent of cinnamon apples simmered from the stove as a pot full of the sweetened fruit sat waiting, made by Tilly to go with the roast that was to be dinner.

That wasn't the scent that Severus was interested in, though.

As Tilly and Harriet chatted with each other, he glided up the stairs.

His black robes billowed behind him as the alpha's sure, confident steps landed on the wooden floorboards while he hurried towards that sweet, delicious smell which reeked of intense passion and the innocence of newly-bloomed flowers.

As Severus approached the door to the bedroom that he shared with his wife, he took a deep breath in as he reached for the knob.

It was about to be Severus's favorite part of the day, the moment that he was reunited with Lily.

"Look, Mummy, I drew this!" An adorable little boy with black hair and black eyes happily held up a piece of parchment and showed Lily as he sat on the edge of the blankets.

"Oh, that's lovely, dear." Lily smiled as she moved a strand of her red hair back over her shoulder after it drifted down and tickled the nose of the small baby in her arms, causing him to frown in irritation.

"Do you think Daddy will like it?" The little boy asked.

"I'm sure that your Daddy will love it, Albus." Lily nodded with a smile.

"I don't care much if Daddy likes it or not, really." Albus replied as he frowned down at his picture.

"Oh?" Lily asked as two of her other little ones crawled up on her abdomen and the baby in her arms cooed.

"No, it doesn't matter if Daddy doesn't like it, because I really drew it for Harriet." Albus nodded.

"Oh, well I'm certain that Harriet will like it, sweetheart." Lily replied.

She knew that Severus and Harriet were home as soon as the door had opened.

She could hear her daughter's voice while she talked with Tilly, but that smell……..

Oh, that wonderful smell of warmed leather, mingled with lavender and amber, that was the scent of her alpha, that was the scent of her mate.

That was her darling Severus~.

A moment later, Lily's suspicions were confirmed as the door to the bedroom swung open and Severus swept into the room.

"Lily…….." he breathed as he looked at his wife with pure reverence, as if he were seeing her for the first time.

"Hey, Sev!" Lily smiled happily at him from her nest on the floor, "I'm so glad you're home, love!"

The two little ones crawling towards her finally reached their target and in nearly perfect unison, the red-headed babies reached up and yanked her blouse to expose her full breasts.

Severus's dark eyes flickered down for a moment and as he watched Lily gasp while his greedy sons helped themselves to their evening meal, he couldn't help but find the scene fulfilling and strangely arousing.

It had nothing to do with the children and everything to do with Lily.

Lily, with her flame red hair and her bright green eyes that sparkled at Severus, highlighted by her pleasant smile and fair features, that sight alone was enough to make the stress of the day fall away from the alpha's face.

But the things she did for him…..

Since he had been a boy, Severus Snape had hoped to be part of a family, to belong somewhere, to be wanted, to be needed.

Lily had satisfied his desires several times over.

They had mated after graduation, married, and bought their house just as Severus accepted his teaching job.

A year later, Harriet had been born.

Three years after that, Albus Snape arrived.

The family of four were content for a time until Lily started having heats again.

Her resuming cycles had resulted in Draven and Brendan Snape a little over a year earlier, who were busy feeding at their mother's breasts.

Little Oliver watched his brothers curiously as he lay cradled in Lily's arms, having only been in the world a bit longer than two months.

Severus didn't know what he enjoyed more, seeing Lily mother all of his children, the happiness that it brought her, or the simple fact that she was willing and pleased to do so.

His omega spent a lot of time in her nest and Severus spent most of his free time there with her and their pups.

After he paused for a moment to admire the touching scene in his bedroom, he carefully stepped over, removed his shoes, cleaned his robes with a quick wave of his wand, and slipped into the nest to join his mate.

Lily laid against him while he glanced down at his babies and greeted Albus with a low purr of approval after the little boy displayed his drawing.

"Did you have a good day, love?" Lily asked as she glanced up at Severus and met his lips with hers.

Severus pressed his lips to Lily's as if he were drinking from a replenishing stream and in that moment, he wished the children were already asleep for the night.

How blissful it would be later that evening when he had the chance to curl up in the nest with his mate and snog her senseless~.

"Better now that I'm with you again." Severus replied in a purr after he hesitantly pulled away.

The babies didn't notice and Albus was staring down at his picture, but Severus knew that-

"Where's Harriet?" Lily asked with a frown.

"She'll be up in a moment." Severus replied as he held his lover close, "She was chatting with Tilly about the week."

"Dinner should be nearly done." Lily said with a soft smile as she leaned back on Severus's chest with a sigh.

She smirked as her alpha bent down and pressed a very possessive kiss on her throat as she mused, "Then the children will be in bed……"

Severus felt his heart leap in his chest as he looked forward to the evening.

Dinner with his mate and pups would be sublime, of course, but after that would come Severus's second favorite part of the day, the time he got to spend isolated with Lily.

He would delight in her loving care before letting himself slip into pleasant dreams with her lying in his arms…..
