A.N. — Looking at the stats for the last month, Lavender Brown's drabble has been the most clicked. Who'd've thunk? So here is a fellor Gryffindor, one with a touching backstory for their name that I am working into this drabble. It also gives me a chance for some dialogue for once.
138. Natalie McDonald
Natalie's time at Hogwarts would likely be brief, due to leukemia. As long as she experienced some magic, she'd be content. The Hat barely touched her head before proclaiming "Gryffindor!" in such an assured tone that Natalie scoffed.
Her, brave?
You are, the Hat mentally intoned. Deciding to attend Hogwarts in your condition is commendable, showing great strength of spirit.
The Hat's impassioned defense of its choice made Natalie pause.
I'm still not gonna tell anyone about it, she thought back. They'd all coddle me.

McGonagall removed the Hat, leaving Natalie both bereft yet heartened.
