As the cold winter slowly faded, the coming spring began to melt the snow and warm the village of Hogsmeade, bringing with it the promise of new life.

That promise extended to the Snape household and early one morning, Severus found himself stirring a bubbling cauldron before he headed to Hogwarts for the day.

The contraceptive potion that he brewed was gentle, soothing, and its fumes were harmless, which was convenient since he had his littlest ones in his care.

Draven and Brendan were playing together in their enchanted pen on the floor.

Oliver was nestled safely in his mobile bassinet and Albus was hard at work while he finished his art project.

He scowled down at the paper in his small hands and held his mouth a certain way to ensure that his coloring would be accurate.

Severus's dark eyes softened as he glanced over at his little pups.

He was grateful for the distraction.

Lily had selfishly consumed his thoughts during the past week.

When her scent had changed suddenly, they had both become suspicious.

However, it was when she started doubling her food intake and complaining of sore breasts that they both understood the inevitable.

Lily was preparing to go into heat again.

Necessity drowned their dreams and squelched the romantic notions that young lovers may have entertained.

The Snapes couldn't afford another child.

Besides, Lily's body was exhausted after she had birthed three sons and endured two pregnancies within the last two years.

Severus had made thoughtful, anguishing arrangements for the days that were to come.

His mother had agreed to visit so that she could help Tilly tend Lily and the children.

During Lily's heat, Severus had decided that he would temporarily move into his rooms at Hogwarts, that was the safest way to stop his wife's pheromones from tempting him to lose control and glut himself on his needy mate in her most vulnerable moments.

Severus had prepared the contraceptive potion for Lily in case they somehow managed to find each other and to ease the discomfort that her heat would surely cause her.

Her heat…………

Severus frowned when he thought of his wife and imagined her writhing for hours in her nest as she longed for him.

It twisted Severus's heart that they'd have to spend Lily's cycle separated from one another.

He and his darling flower hadn't been apart for a single night since they had mated after their graduation from Hogwarts.

When Draven let out a happy squeal, Severus turned his head to glance over at his sons.

He gazed at them for a contemplative moment before he ladled a single dose of the potion into a small, glass vial.

It couldn't be helped, for the good of their family, Severus and Lily would have to make the hard choice.

"Come along, let's visit your mother." Severus told Albus quietly as he walked past his little boy and laid a hand on his tiny shoulder.

By the time that Severus had safely carried all three of his babies up to their mother, Albus had finished his art project and followed his father up the stairs.

As Severus walked down the hallway with his eldest son, he smirked to himself when he heard Lily and their infants cooing to each other from their bedroom.

If Severus fathered any more pups with his beloved, he'd soon have an entire pack.

When Severus and Albus arrived in the bedroom, Lily was sitting up in her nest with a pleasant smile on her fair face.

Her frothy nightgown billowed over her ample cleavage like a fluffy cloud and as Severus watched Albus climb onto the bed with his mother, he narrowed his eyes at the way her garment teased him.

Severus wanted to reach into that cloud of softness and-

"I made this for you, Mummy!" Albus cried excitedly while he presented Lily with the greeting card that he had crafted for her.

"Oh! Thank you, sweetheart!" Lily said with an excited grin as she looked at the stick figure representation of their family on the front and the message on the inside that was signed with a smiley face, "It's lovely, Albus!"

Severus's mouth fell open slightly as he noticed the gentle hint of a flush on Lily's cheeks.

In his trousers, under the heavy layers of his black robes, he felt his manhood threaten to throb.

His mate's cheeks had already pinkened.

Severus sucked in a breath when he noticed the plumpness of Lily's lips, puffy, full, and waiting for——

Severus forced his thoughts back to decency after obscene visions of kissing and mating with his darling danced through his mind.

Emotional, physical, and mental, the bond that Mr. and Mrs. Snape shared was deep.

Lily's pheromones called to Severus every time, it was unavoidable.

Occlumency was little help against his mate's influence when she was in or near a heat, Severus had learned that over the years.

"Does it make you feel better, Mummy?" Albus asked with a frown.

"It certainly does, my darling. Thank you so much for thinking of me!" Lily said with a bright smile as she gave Albus a squeezing hug of gratitude.

Albus laughed as he sweetly returned Lily's embrace.

Lily's hug was innocent, but Severus's thoughts weren't.

As Severus watched his wife mother his son, an unreadable look crept into his black eyes.

Lily enjoyed mothering his children……..if he spent another passionate heat in her nest with her, then she'd surely be round and heavy with his next baby and-

"-Severus?" Lily blinked as she called over to her husband.

"Yes, my love?" He responded quickly.

Severus blinked only once when his wife called him out of his lewd daydreams and forced him to return to reality.

The twins started to whimper as Lily asked him, "Is it ready yet?"

"...Is what ready... yet, my love?" Severus asked absently as he watched Lily lift Draven and Brendan up and pull those lovely, frothy layers of gossamer fabric down to expose—

Oh…..

There they were, those glorious breasts that Severus had spent hours at, nipping, licking, and suckling.

Although she was already nursing his little ones, Lily's breasts had swelled a bit more with her coming heat.

Severus couldn't take his eyes off of her fattened nipples.

His heart broke with jealousy as he watched Draven and Brendan latch on to Lily while he stood there with a growling stomach that waited on him to prepare breakfast.

"The—ah!—potion?" Lily whimpered.

She flinched when Brendan became too aggressive with one sensitive side and Severus let out a silent sigh.

If it had been him in his son's place, Lily would have cried out as well, but for a different reason.

Severus would knead her tender, supple mounds so gently that she would sob his name.

"Yes, my love." Severus replied as he stepped forward and shook his head slightly to release himself from the snare of Lily's pheromones.

"I have the first dose right here." Severus added as he sat down on the bed and showed the vial to Lily after Albus moved over slightly.

"It won't affect my milk, right?" Lily asked her lover while he uncapped the vial.

"No." Severus assured his wife.

The trap was even worse when he sat close to her.

"It won't affect your milk at all." Severus nodded as he held the vial out to Lily.

His dark eyes widened as he watched Lily's perfect, pink lips seductively wrap around the glass edge.

The sight spawned a new set of intriguing images in his wavering mind.

Severus was certain that Lily ingesting the contraceptive potion posed no risk of harmful consequences to their children.

However, if his bride was really that concerned about her milk becoming tainted, Severus was more than willing to have a taste, for safety's sake only, of course~.

Later that morning, as Hogwarts' students and staff enjoyed their breakfast in the Great Hall, Harriet sat talking and laughing with her friends, Ron and Hermione.

Across the room, Draco scowled at all three of them with what appeared to be contempt but was truthfully sad jealousy.

He wondered why Harriet couldn't have been sorted into Slytherin instead?

Draco frowned as he watched the happy look in Harriet's bright, emerald eyes as she laughed heartily at one of Ron's terrible jokes.

Draco felt that it was his jokes that she should have been laughing at……….

Crabbe and Goyle were chatting about something that Draco didn't care to focus on and he did little but grunt whenever they elbowed him for a response.

"What's the matter with you, Draco?" Goyle asked.

Draco snapped out of his trance when he realized that he had been staring at Harriet and her entourage for too long.

"My…...My head hurts." Draco lied.

"Then why don't you go and see Madam Pomfrey?" Crabbe asked.

"Maybe I will, Crabbe!" Draco snapped as he stood up from the table and stormed out of the room.

While his friends believed that he was on his way to the infirmary, Draco stopped as soon as he was out of the Great Hall's entryway and waited, safely hidden, in the cranny of a corner.

Each day, there was a brief free period between the conclusion of breakfast and the beginning of the first class.

Draco rubbed his pale face for a moment while he thought about what to do.

Footsteps sounded in the deserted hallway, headed in his direction.

Unable to conceal himself, Draco decided that he would step out from behind the corner before whoever it was found him and accused him of deviant behavior.

The footsteps were very nearby when Draco stepped out at last and gasped.

He and Harriet stood so close to each other that their noses nearly touched.

"Snape!" Draco hissed, careful to scowl at his darling in order to avoid allowing a happy grin to burst free and spread across his face.

"Malfoy!" Harriet snapped as her green eyes narrowed behind her glasses

They stood there in front of each other awkwardly for a silent second.

Draco was so glad to be in Harriet's presence that he forgot to speak until she scowled at him and asked, "Are you…..Are you spying on me, Malfoy?!"

"No!" Draco shot back defensively, "Why would I spy on you, Snape? Do you honestly believe that you're worth my time?"

Draco commended himself on that comment.

The crueler he was to Harriet, the less she or anyone else would suspect his true feelings.

"Whatever." Harriet replied with a shake of her head, "Move out of my way."

"In a rush?" Draco teased with a mocking sneer as he continued to block her path.

Harriet stepped to the side and Draco stepped with her.

She tried again and again, but each time he moved with her, purposefully stopping her from getting past him.

Harriet sighed heavily and looked at Draco in vexation as she retorted, "If you must know, yes, I am in a rush. I have a letter that I need to send before class and you're in my way. Move, will you? I don't have much time to get to the Owlery and back."

"The Owlery? I'm actually headed there myself." Draco sniffed.

"You're headed to the Owlery…...?" Harriet blinked.

"Yes, I am." Draco haughtily nodded.

"...In the wrong direction?" Harriet asked incredulously.

Draco scowled when he realized that his lie made no sense with the way his body had been turned when he and Harriet intersected in the hallway.

"I forgot an envelope for my letter, Snape." Draco hissed with a sneer, "I was going back to my dormitory to get one."

"I have an extra envelope in my pocket." Harriet replied. Her green eyes pleaded with Draco as she offered, "If you'll move aside, you can have it, Malfoy."

"I'll take it when we get to the Owlery, Snape." Draco sneered again as he stepped out of Harriet's way.

With her path cleared, Harriet hurried down the hallway and Draco followed right beside her.

She was so determined to mail her letter that she didn't notice the grin on Draco's pale face as he looked forward to his morning treat.

Sharing some private time with Harriet would be a privilege for Draco indeed!
