A.N. — I used some ghostly metaphors in Lisa Turpin's drabble. That was hinting at another spirit on the docket. Here he is, the second-most-hated spectral inhabitant of Hogwarts (behind Peeves). He really should be pitied for his reputation and plight.
145. Cuthbert Binns
Cuthbert Binns had the most generous office hours of any Hogwarts professor. He was at a loss to explain why barely anyone made use of them.
Once he was done teaching for the day, Binns retreated to his personal quarters behind the classroom (never noticing he passed through the wall to do so). He marked student essays (via house elf assistance), took a supper (that he couldn't remember tasting), and waited till precisely 10 o'clock for somebody to call on his services.
Lovegood was the only one who made regular visits. Which one — Pandora or Luna — he was unsure of.
