A.N. — It's Draco Malfoy's birthday today. In canon, I didn't much care for him until book 6. In fanon, though, there's a lot of fun interpretations of his character. This is mine (with some non-Harry Severitis thrown in).

156. Draco Malfoy

Draco did not have friends; he had acquaintances.

He categorized them by their usefulness, even before he'd been sorted into Slythern. Draco did not, however, heavily weigh servility. That'd mean he'd have to put Crabbe and Goyle (and Pansy...) at the list's head, and that simply wouldn't do.

Snape had earned his place as Draco's most favored. His Head of House acted more like a father to Draco than Lucius often did. It went beyond his bias toward the Snakes during class; Draco felt certain Snape would never betray him.

Snape was Draco's shelter from the dangers the Dark held.
