A.N. — After five youngsters out of the last seven drabbles, it's time to explore the (somewhat) elder side once again. I did give some thought to putting Daphne Greengrass and Tracey Davis here and tomorrow, though. This drabble is tangentially connected to the last one via rich fanon prescence (think Harry Potter and the Rune Stone Path). It's also the first of a few drabbles spotlighting Pride Month.

158. Bathsheda Babbling

When she applied to take over Ancient Runes right after graduating Hogwarts, Bathsheda Babbling figured the biggest hurdle to being hired would be her youth. She was only partially right.

When interviewing in front of the Board of Governors and McGonagall, Babbling's qualifications weren't in question — her personal life was being probed. To the stodgy old-timers of the Board, having an openly lesbian professor was inconceivable. They opined that her sexuality, coupled with her age, would tempt impressionable students. McGonagall, at least, looked scandalized on Babbling's behalf.

Bathsheda rolled her eyes. Apparently, Ancient Runes came with ancient prejudices as well.
