"Take a sip, my love……A single sip should suffice."

Severus's low whisper purred in Lily's ear as she crouched over the toilet with a wary hand across her chest.

As she fought back the urge to vomit, she turned her head to place her lips on the vial that Severus offered her.

Carefully, Lily took a very small drink of the Anti-Nausea Potion her husband had lovingly brewed for her comfort.

Her stomach revolted as soon as she swallowed.

Lily groaned and leaned forward while Severus frowned as he thoughtfully held her hair back.

They both waited as a tense, anxious moment passed until Lily sighed and sat on her bottom while she turned to look at Severus.

"Sev," She sighed gratefully as she pressed a hand to her clammy face, "What would I do without you?"

Severus pushed aside his wife's praise as concern permeated his thoughts.

"Is the feeling lessening at all?" He asked with a frown.

"Oh, the nausea is already much better." Lily nodded as she glanced at the wall for a moment before she looked at her alpha again, "Much better, indeed! Thank you so much, love! Let's get out of here if we can though, please?"

Severus wordlessly helped Lily stand before he led her out of the bathroom and back to their bedchamber.

"You should lie down for a bit." Severus suggested, "This started before dawn. It's Saturday, I can look after the boys."

"Alright." Lily nodded.

Severus knew that his wife wasn't usually one to readily agree to a mid morning nap.

It pained him to know how exhausted Lily's condition had made her.

He helped his darling back to her nest, tucked her in, and crawled next to her as he pulled her into his arms.

"What about the boys, Sev?" Lily asked as she yawned and cuddled against her husband.

"They won't be up for another hour." Severus reasoned in a low drawl that rumbled from his chest, "I have no intention of leaving your side until their needs outweigh yours, my love."

Lily smiled softly as she rested a hand over Severus's heart and closed her eyes.

The morning had been draining, but Lily knew it would all be worth it in the end.

As she lay there, she felt her alpha splay his fingers over what they could reach of her flat abdomen, eager to cradle their unborn child.

Lily's smile widened as she remembered her previous pregnancies.

She knew how loving and kind her husband would be during the next months, not that Severus treated her with any less devotion when there wasn't a pup on the way.

Mrs. Snape pitied every other pregnant omega in the world.

She felt sorry for the women who would never know what it was like to have a mate as attentive and devoted as Severus.

Professor Snape stalked through the hallways of Hogwarts with his shoulders thrown back and his chin held high after he learned that his wife had conceived again.

The newly sweetened notes in Lily's scent made him delirious each morning.

He began to look after his students with an exaggerated sense of protective responsibility, especially Harriet and Albus.

For an alpha like Severus, there was a sense of mortal satisfaction that came from knowing he had once again impregnated his lover.

The feeling had been amplified by the blatant joy on Lily's beaming face whenever she talked about the baby or touched her flat abdomen.

Albus and his brothers were curious about what it would be like to have another child in the family.

Harriet felt happy for her parents, but she didn't have long to dwell on those thoughts.

A week after her mother and father had told her the pleasant news, Harriet had fallen ill.

She hid her symptoms well from Ron and Hermione, but Draco knew right away what caused his darling's fatigue, nausea, and headaches.

He had easily been able to detect the sudden change in his mate's scent.

One afternoon during Quidditch practice, Draco kept his eye on Harriet as she flew around Gryffindor's side of the field at an unusually slow pace.

He frowned as he looked at his love and watched in horror as her fair face changed to a sickly, green colour in a matter of minutes.

"Snape!" Someone shouted.

"Harriet, you need to fly higher! What's wrong with you?!" Ron called as he zoomed by.

The unsteady motion of the broom was simply too much for Severus's daughter.

Draco knew what would happen as he watched Harriet grab the wooden handle and race towards the ground.

He followed her quickly and made it just in time to watch her hop off of her magical vehicle, lean over, and retch violently onto the sand pit at the bottom of the field.

The Gryfinndor and Slytherin Quidditch teams watched in incredulous confusion as Harriet Snape suddenly became disturbingly ill.

They couldn't understand why Draco Malfoy held her hair and rubbed her back.

"Harriet!" Ron cried.

The team captains landed a moment later and approached the couple as Harriet panted for breath.

"Come on, you two!" Slytherin's captain shouted.

"Snape, we're taking you to the Hospital Wing!" Gryffindor's leader called.

Once she finished emptying her stomach, Harriet glanced back at Draco and for a single, terrifying second, they both silently communicated their fears to each other.

They had met for stolen chats and secret kisses in the weeks since their impromptu rendezvous, but they had never discussed the truth that they both somehow realized.

"I don't know if I can walk that far." Harriet confessed in a dry croak as she leaned over and put her hands on her knees while her nausea threatened to return.

"...Then I'll carry you, Snape." Draco offered as he scooped Harriet into his arms.

In the shock brought on by the bizarre scene, the team captains made no protest about Draco's strange display of chivalry.

While the others watched, the Quidditch captains marched off the field with Harriet and Draco following a short ways behind them.

"Draco?" Harriet asked as they walked along and she slowly began to turn green once more.

"What is it, my darling?" Draco asked in an uncharacteristically gentle coo.

"I'm with child." Harriet sighed as an anxious frown marred her fair face.

"I know." Draco frowned back. His grey eyes softened as he looked down at Harriet and nodded, "I'm here beside you……don't worry, everything will be fine."

For that particular afternoon at least, Draco's words did not immediately hold true.

Minutes after Harriet arrived at the Hospital Wing, Madam Pomfrey confirmed her patient's suspicion with wide eyes.

Draco clutched his darling's hand supportively as he sat at her bedside, but the rumors broke out amongst the student body at an alarming pace.

Within the hour, the entire school of Hogwarts had learned of Harriet's pregnancy and that Draco Malfoy was the father.

The barrage of judgemental chatter was nothing compared to the angry, flabbergasted expressions on the faces of the Malfoys and Snapes as they arrived at Harriet's bedside.

Lily and Narcissa exchanged nervous glances.

The mothers stayed with the young couple while Lucius and Severus stepped outside of the room to have a…….discussion.

"Draco," Narcissa frowned at her son, "Your father and I are very disappointed in you!"

"I can say the same, sweetheart." Lily pouted at Harriet, "What have we told you all these years?! What will you two do now?!...How are you going to graduate?"

"Madam Pomfrey estimated that the baby won't come before the second week of June, Mum." Harriet said with a sigh, "We can finish our studies before then……We can get a flat and start our lives together."

"You can get married!" Narcissa snapped as her piercing, blue stare bore into the bewildered couple. She furrowed her brow as she looked at Draco and scoffed, "No Malfoy is going to be born a bastard, Draco! And a Malfoy will certainly not be raised in some grubby flat either, the child will come to the manor and live-"

"-Pardon me, Narcissa, but I do think it's a bit harsh to refer to our grandchild as a bastard, don't you?" Lily cut in with her emerald eyes narrowed, "My daughter is the one tasked with the pregnancy, I'm sure she'd feel much more comfortable in her own home than some frigid, foreboding-"

The tension escalated between the two angry witches to an alarming point.

As Narcissa and Lily took a few threatening steps towards each other, Draco interrupted their feud and spoke, "...It doesn't matter."

Lily and Narcissa both looked over at him with disapproving glares on their faces.

"Excuse me, my dear boy, but it most certainly does!" Lily sniffed.

"Draco, how can you say such a thing?!" Narcissa spat.

"It doesn't matter to me where we go or where we live." Draco said as he gently squeezed Harriet's hand.

He stared at their mothers as he went on, "I've been in love with Harriet since the first time I laid eyes on her…….and I will be in love with her even after I die. I will wander this world in search of her forever if I must……I think I'm the only one who's excited about this child and I am…..I'm excited! The woman I love, my mate, my omega, is carrying my pup. We can still graduate, we can still have lives, we can live and love, and raise our child with that love……I refuse to let anyone ruin this moment for me, or for us! Harriet and I love each other and we will face this world together."

Draco finished with a confident frown.

He blinked as he realized that his heartfelt speech had left all three of the omegas around him in tears.

As he looked over at Harriet, she blinked back the water in her eyes as a happy smile crossed her face while she laughed, "I love you too, Draco!"

Draco smiled.

It was a relief to him and a show of Harriet's affection that at last, she had called him by his first name.

Outside the Hospital Wing, the discussion held by Harriet and Draco's fathers sounded far less touching.

"Did I not make myself vehemently clear…." Severus glowered as he hovered menacingly in front of Lucius's face, "...That you were to keep your undisciplined son away from my innocent daughter?!"

"I should hardly think your daughter is as innocent now, Severus!" Lucius snapped back, "The girl has her mother's beauty. It's no wonder she cruelly ensnared my son's heart from the very beginning!"

Severus grit his teeth as a hateful scowled twisted his face while he hissed at Lucius, "How dare you imply that-"

Without warning, the stone doors to the Hospital Wing creaked open as Narcissa peered out and called, "You'll have to forgive the interruption, but I don't think there's any need to battle one another over this."

Lucius and Severus frowned at Narcissa then back at each other.

"Come on, then." Narcissa said as she motioned both men towards her.

Reluctantly, Lucius and Severus walked over while they threw angry glares at each other.

Narcissa led them back into the Hospital Wing and all the way across the room.

"We only left them for a moment to fetch a cup of water." Narcissa explained as they saw Lily standing at the foot of Harriet's bed with a smile.

Lucius and Severus walked past the dividing curtain and frowned at what they saw.

In the bed, Draco held Harriet securely wrapped in his embrace while she rested.

Her hormones and soothing scent had sent him dozing as well and he lay with his eyes closed while one hand rested on her flat belly.

"They really do love each other." Lily breathed with a happy sigh.

"They're mates now." Narcissa shrugged.

Lucius frowned as he studied the young couple and remembered when he had shared similar moments like that with Narcissa in previous years.

Severus's scowl seemed quite severe.

Draco's affection for his daughter didn't erase Harriet's condition.

The more Severus contemplated his new reality, the more vexed he became by Draco and his actions.

It had happened during all of his wife's pregnancies.

Lily's hormones riled Severus's paranoid, protective, paternal instincts to such an extent that he could barely function.

He could hardly imagine how much his primitive impulses would gnaw at him with an expectant mate and daughter in the house at the same time.
