A.N. — I think this collection might wind up with just as many death anniversaries as birthday celebrations. This person stuck around as a ghost, and I'm focusing on that time rather than her life here. Tomorrow's chapter will offer another view of her death.

164. Myrtle Warren

Moaning Myrtle was confined (by restraining order!) to Hogwarts, but she made the best of it.

When she wasn't crying over her death and friendlessness in a U-bend, Myrtle actually enjoyed the freedom incorporeality gave her. Deathday parties were always a riot, but it was when she was left to her own devices Myrtle had the most fun.

The castle's plumbing system was her unquestioned domain (once Harry slayed the basilisk), one Myrtle exploited. She relished spectating the Second Task from the Black Lake itself. Her spying on Harry in the Prefect's Bath beforehand, though, made her feel alive again.
