166. Avery
Avery's father had been at Voldemort's side since his school days; the son did not follow his footsteps.
When the Dark Lord fell, Avery exhaled in relief — following a psycho was taxing. But then his Dark Mark pulled him to a cemetery, and Voldemort let Avery know just how displeased he was in lack of faith shown.
Crucio and Avery became very acquainted over the next year. Avery's failed attempt to Imperius Bode, and loss of the prophecy orb, gave his Lord ample opportunity to enact penance for Avery's abandonment.
Voldemort smile grew, Crucioing Avery's frantic begging into shuddering silence.
