DISCLAIMER: I do not own Harry Potter
John always loved the visits to Diagon Alley, Ken would take him every now and then to look around and teach him more about the wizard world.
"Lucky we had to come here, I was running low on Floo Powder." said Ken
With a trip via Floo Powder, the Uncle and Nephew duo were in the Leaky Cauldron. A few patrons recognised them from previous visits. As they were approaching the exit to Diagon Alley, Ken was stopped by a woman with long blonde hair, she wore royal blue robes, a pointed blue hat and her right eye was covered by a bandage, she was accompanied by a black Rottweiler.
"Ah, Ken Hawthorne, it's been a while."
"Oh, hello Professor."
"And who's this little guy?"
"This is my nephew, John, he's starting his first year at Hogwarts this year, we're just getting his stuff."
"Well, nice to meet you, John, my name is Solstace Cassowary, I'll be your Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, I look forward to seeing you in my class."
Professor Cassowary held out her hand for John to shake, but John was admittedly a bit scared of her dog.
"Oh, don't worry, Sawyer is completely harmless." said Cassowary
John hesitantly shook Professor Cassowary's hand.
"Professor, where'd you get the dog?" asked Ken
"Oh, I found him on Hogwarts grounds about 7 years ago, anyway, I have things to do, so I'll see you at Hogwarts, John."
Without another word, Professor Cassowary waved the uncle and nephew goodbye and walked away with her dog. John and Ken headed around the back and Ken tapped his wand on the bricks and the wall opened up to Diagon Alley.
"First stop, Gringotts." said Ken
Ken took John to the Wizarding Bank, they were taken to the Hawthorne family vault by the goblin, Kroll, the vault had a great deal of Gold Galleons, Silver Sickles and Bronze Knuts, in addition to a couple of family heirlooms and artefacts. Ken took out a pouch and filled it with money.
"This should be enough, now, let's go get your robes." said Ken
Ken and John left the bank, when they headed to Madam Malkin's, when Ken stopped.
"Wait, you see that couple outside Madam Malkin's?" asked Ken, pointing to a man with wavy brunette hair and a woman with long blonde hair.
"Yeah, what about them?"
"They're the Gulls, Mason and Patricia, I had no idea they were wizards." said Ken
Ken walked up to the Gulls and tapped Mason on the shoulder.
"Nice seeing you here, you two." said Ken
"Ken Hawthorne? You're a wizard?" asked Mason
"Yeah, here to get stuff for my nephew for his first year at Hogwarts, I had no idea you two were wizards too."
"Um, we're not, we're both, what are we called? Muggles?" asked Patricia
"Then why are you here?" asked Ken
"Well, while we're not wizards, our son, Isaac, is." said Mason
John was surprised, he never would have expected Isaac Gulls to be a wizard.
"And where is Isaac?" asked Ken
"In this shop getting his robes." said Patricia
At that point, a boy, around John's age, stepped out of Madam Malkin's, he had his mother's blonde hair.
"Okay, I got my robes, hat and cloak, what's next on the…John Hawthorne?"
"Hello Isaac." said John
"You're a wizard? I guess now your obsession with magic makes sense." said Isaac
"Hey, since you are muggles, you wouldn't know your way around Diagon Alley, how about me and John show you around after John gets his robes?" suggested Ken
"Um, sure, that would be great." said Patricia
Ken handed John some money and John stepped into Madam Malkin's to get fitted for his robes.
