Narcissa Black was not Lucius Malfoy's biggest fan back during Hogwarts.
Sure, he was quite handsome, but he ran with the wrong crowd. As a daughter of a dark family, Narcissa could sympathize, but his closest cohorts were more about depravity than decorum despite their pureblood lineage. So when a marriage proposal was first broached, Narcissa scoffed. She was the youngest Black child; she didn't have to accept an offer just because it was made!
But Lucius was persistent, and honeyed words in an alluring voice finally wore Narcissa's resolve down. The mansion and piles of gold, too, quashed grievances.
