A.N. — Now, to chase the depression of the last drabble with humor. This character died back on June 30, but his canon birthday is sometime in July (or late August, if the Crimes of Grindelwald screenplay is to be extrapolated from). I thought 7/7 was a cool birthdate, and late August is chock-full for me already.

A.N. 2 — OK, but here's the real drabble (no humor):

188. Albus Dumbledore

Despite his well-known stance of fighting for the greater good, Albus Dumbledore was a selfish man.

He clung onto power in his advancing age, ignoring younger and more capable subordinates ready-made to take over as Headmaster (McGonagall) or leader of the Order (Kingsley). He kept many secrets, hoarding vital knowledge that needed dissemination in this time of crisis.

His personal history hurt Albus. He neglected to take Harry to see the Potters's grave. The grandfatherly figure said the boy wasn't ready yet, but it was the old Mugwump instead who couldn't face his shame, the ghosts that inhabited Godric's Hollow.
