A.N. — The fanon version of this character is one of my favorites. But book canon tells us very little about this woman, like the fact her death occurred around mid-July. So, after going through many iterations, I started this drabble by focusing on one of those known facts.

195. Amelia Bones

Wearing a monocle was a bold choice while engaging in a duel. Amelia Bones hadn't had much choice, though; the Dark Lord didn't give warnings when he personally came to kill you.

To a wizard of Voldemort's calibre, that vulnerability was something to exploit. Amelia had actually been holding her own in the opening exchanges of spellfire. Then a precisely targeted piercing hex shattered her eyewear.

The head of the DLME collapsed, unseeing, clutching her bleeding sockets. Amelia felt the floorboards shaking as Voldemort sauntered over. Despite her injuries, she turned her ruined face up to greet her end — defiant.
