A.N. — Here is one last buffer character before a parade of three characters in the top 20 in mentions over all seven books to close out July. Come August, I will only have eight such people left to write for. Today's guy has a surname of a more important character, but he's sadly not related.

207. Mark Evans

Mark Evans didn't think he had much in common with Harry Potter. Aside from them both living in Little Whinging and being targets of Dudley's gang of bullies, Mark paid Potter little mind.

Then Harry, in a voice choked with emotion, had asked whether Mark was related to Lily Evans.

Mark was gobsmacked. Evans was an even more common surname than Potter, so what'd led Harry to believe his mum was a member of Mark's family? Mark had felt for Harry before, seeing him beat up, but hearing the raw hope in his voice crushed made Mark truly pity Potter.
