A.N. — Once again, I choose to honor a death. Perhaps it's because Jo didn't give out too many official birthdays. Or maybe this guy is badass enough that I have to highlight his going out in a blaze of glory. This drabble, more than most, sees me abusing hyphenated words to make the word count.
208. Alastor Moody
Constant vigilance always paid off.
Midair was not Moody's preferred dueling environment, but he wasn't the most feared Auror for nothing. He always prepared for the worst-case scenario, so when immediately ambushed after take-off, Moody was ready. It didn't matter that Death Eaters outnumbered the Order two to one. Having Dung as his decoy Potter wouldn't hinder Mad-Eye, either. He'd been fighting his whole life; what was one more battle?
Voldemort singling out Moody's group to pursue, and Fletcher disapparating like the coward he was, didn't bode well. But Alastor didn't fear death like his opponent. He'd take those odds.
