218. Elphias Doge

A.N. — Harry Potter is evacuated to Grimmauld Place on this day in 1995, and this old fellow is a member of his Advance Guard. What exactly he does, I haven't the foggiest. It's International Beer Day today, so I thought about making him a drunk. But Dung (and maybe Moody?) have that covered in the Order.

218. Elphias Doge

Nobody wanted to bring it up, but most Order members were sure Elphias Doge only had a place among them due to his closeness to Dumbledore.

Being a wizard, neither knowing Dumbledore or being long-lived were very noteworthy. And yet, Doge got the cushiest assignments possible. Being "Special Advisor to the Wizengamot" was just fancy speak for eavesdropping and passing information along to the Order. Doge escorted Harry Potter to Grimmauld Place after Voldemort's return without facing danger, but later got to skip Harry's other flight from Privet Drive.

Attending Bill and Fluer's wedding, ironically, was what nearly killed Elphias.
