Hannibal was the center of attention at that moment. Alana didn't know who else to turn to. She had called Will when Hannibal had begun to display strange behaviors. For instance, in contrast with his usually tidy habits, he'd become more messy when he both ate and drew. When he spoke, it was in mumbles and garbled words - and even those had ceased. Hannibal hadn't spoken in weeks, only sounds and motions. Even his motions had become limited; only moving occasionally and only walking with help.
Alana was stumped as to why he was behaving so strangely. She had mentioned it to Frederick but he had no idea either. Will was the last resort. They both knew that Will could be the only person to gain Hannibal's trust so that he could tell them what was going on.
When Will first entered the room that held his cell, he looked through the thick glass that contained Hannibal. He saw the almost 50 year-old psychiatrist laid on his plain bed; devoid of any differences compared to the other prisoner's beds. Yet, his room was beautiful; having beautiful sketches on walls and books on shelves.
When Hannibal had finally noticed, he quickly climbed down from the bed and crawled to the glass. Will looked to the others in the room -Frederick and Alana- then back to Hannibal, who was giving him a pout. Will walked closer to the glass when Hannibal began to sniffle and his lower lip began to wobble. Another thing that had been happening was that he had been keeping his emotions on his sleeve better than ever, crying or screaming at the drop of a hat. Will had heard stories about how loud Hannibal got on his way there; sometimes they had to administer drugs to calm him down.
Hannibal began bouncing and giving Will "grabby-hands" . Will, of course, couldn't because of the glass separating them and the fact that Hannibal is an extremely dangerous person. The last person who got near him without the muzzle on had to get surgery.
Hannibal began to make high-pitched whines, while becoming teary eyed and slowing his bouncing. Will could hear behind him Frederick say exasperated,"Get a nurse, please, he's about to cry again." He stepped closer to the glass, looking at the man in front of him. Without thought he stuck his hand in the hole. He could hear people telling him to stop but he didn't hear nor care. Hannibal looked at the hand in wonder, if Will could describe it, he'd say an almost childish curiosity. He placed the calloused palm on the top of Hannibal's ash brown hair. Hannibal paused for a moment, then nudged into it, basking in the affection.
Will was stopped when two workers pulled him away from the glass. All he could do was yell and try to fight back while Hannibal started to cry. All he could hear down the halls was a mix of sobbing and the word "tÄ—velis" repeated in heart-breaking screams.
