Kagome keeps her breathing steady as she fires off arrows at Midoriko, the training slowly growing into a sparring match between the powerful Mikos. "Kagome you're holding back," Midoriko nearly snaps with a glare. "I want to see what power you hold now."
"But I could really hurt someone…" Kagome answers and she lowers her arms. "I don't know the extent of-"
"What do you think the purpose of training is?" The older Miko raises her eyebrow as she crosses her arms, making Kagome mumble to herself. "Fight me."
"You're joking…" Kagome says in disbelief. It was like fighting herself in a way now that she was one with the jewel and that didn't sit well with her.
"So you're saying you would rather go all out on one of your classmates instead?" Midoriko quips back as Kagome's eyes widen. "That's what I thought. Prepare yourself, Kagome." Without another word of warning, the older Miko draws her sword and charges at the younger. Kagome doesn't hesitate to draw her bow and fire a few shots as Midoriko gets closer, the older woman was able to dodge without much effort. Switching quickly to her own katana, Kagome blocks an attack and crosses blades with Midoriko. "Much better. You're able to hold me back with a manifested sword."
"I still prefer my bow," Kagome grunts as she throws Midoriko back. "But being a one-trick-pony won't cut it as a hero." Arching her sword in a downwards swing, Kagome sends a wave of purified energy towards her opponent.
"Excellent!" Midoriko cheers as she throws up a barrier to block the slash. "How is your hand to hand combat?" They converse as they spar, catching the attention of the class around them. Midoriko attacks once more with her sword and knocks Kagome to the side, the light sword disappearing as soon as she hits the ground.
"Y-you're not going easy on me are you?" Kagome pants out as jumps back to her feet to block an oncoming hit.
"Why would I go easy on my successor?" she answers with her own question as Kagome throws her arms up to block the swing. Light erupts from her hands as a pair of chained claws appear, shielding her from the blade. "Those Youkai really have influenced you, haven't they?" Kagome looks closely at her new weapon, her eyes widening once she realizes she made her own copy of Koga's Goraishi.
"They aren't the only ones." Kagome pushes against the sword, sparks of electricity dancing around her. Using a surge of electricity with her left hand, she blasts it at Midoriko to getaway. Sparking the other hand to propel her in the opposite direction much like she had seen Katsuki do. Kagome could hear cheers and gasps around her, realizing her classmates were watching her match. Flashing from the Goraishi, Kagome draws out her bow and fires into the air. "Heaven's rain!" The arrows surround Midoriko and form a barrier connecting where they landed. Panting harshly where she stands, Kagome finally notices the number of eyes on her as she looks around to find her classmates watching silently. She smiles brightly at them as she goes to speak, only to be cut off by Aizawa.
"Higurashi," he calls out as he walks over with a few people behind him. Kagome turns to him as she calms her breathing, her eyes widening at the sight of Hitoshi, Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Koga. "We still nee-"
"Hitoshi!" Kagome interrupts excitedly as she runs over to hug him, forgetting about Midoriko and the others around her.
"Hello to you too, Damsel," he chuckles as he hugs her back. "Miss me?" A small huff could be heard from Inuyasha as the demon crossed his arms in annoyance, yet he wasn't the only one annoyed by their exchange.
"Of course I did," Kagome blushes softly as she pulls away from him. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner."
"I got the rundown from Aizawa," Hitoshi smiles as he rubs the back of his neck absentmindedly. "Kinda wild you lost that much memory." Aizawa, however, was tired of the small talk and decided to cut in before Kagome could respond.
"That's enough. Higurashi, I need to see what we need to touch up with the techniques we've been going over." Aizawa finishes his path next to Midoriko as they stand on the sidelines. His two students get into fighting stances facing each other, playful energy emitting from both of them. Their peers watch closely, confused yet excited to see what unfolds for Kagome.
Katsuki's proud smirk from her using his moves was replaced with a cold expression. This must-have started when Kagome wasn't speaking to him or else he would have known about her training with the purple-haired male. So she probably told Izuku about it, Katsuki thinks as he glances towards him only to find a confused expression on his face before turning back to watch the fight.
"I thought we weren't keeping secrets from each other," Izuku mutters softly as he watches the fight start. Yet he couldn't say it was a fight, it didn't have the same feeling a sparring match does or the anger behind it. It was as if they were dancing with each other rather than training, like a pair of seasoned Waltz competitors. Each attack was mesmerizing Izuku further into a trance of black and purple. It left a bad taste in his mouth seeing her so happy with someone else even if it was just a fight.
Shoto was no different from the others, yet that sinking feeling in his stomach confused him to no end. There wasn't a reason for him to be upset that they were sparring with such elegance. No reason for him to feel enraged at the sight of Kagome smiling so brightly while fighting someone. "WOOHOO!" Denki's scream cuts through the class's silence. "MY OTP IS SAILING!"
"Hell yeah!" Jiro joins in. "OTP!" The class then collectively gasps as reality sets in. Kagome knowing Hitoshi despite not seeing him since before everything = Kagome remembering everyone else. The shock from everything that's happened that morning was warned off with Denki shouting as things started making sense. Ochaco is the first to react as sobs rip from her throat while she falls to her knees. Relief fills her being as weight lifts from her shoulders she didn't realize she was carrying.
Kagome jumps away from an attack from Hitoshi's scarf, shooting it in place with an arrow for a moment as she gets further away. "Come on, Hitoshi," she teases with a hand on her hip. "I'm a big girl, you can use your quirk on me." She finishes with a wink to make him flustered. As soon as those words left her lips she was frozen in place, her eyes glazing over for a moment before she snapped back from it. "That was quick. Have you been training without me?" Kagome pouts slightly, succeeding in making the male blush. Rubbing the back of his neck embarrassed, Hitoshi lets his guard down for a moment as Kagome takes this opening to tackle him to the ground and knock the air out of him. She successfully pins him under her with a smirk. "That was easy," she laughs softly
"Hey now," he pants out. "That wasn't fair, Kitten." It was Kagome's turn to blush as she loses her hold on him, giving Hitoshi the time to flip them so she was under him.
"A-and you th-think this is?!" Kagome nearly shrieks as she struggles against his hold, too flustered to remember she was strong enough to lift him.
"Oi!" Katsuki and Inuyasha yell in unison as they glance at each other before glaring at Hitoshi. "Who the hell do you think you are?!" Katsuki finishes as he jumps down from his lifted area. The rest of the class saw this as an invitation to follow behind and see Kagome. Hitoshi calmly releases her, the blush still on both of their cheeks. "That was a cheap fucking move."
"Cheap but unfortunately effective," Aizawa sighs. "Higurashi, that is something you need to work on. You can't get flustered by pet names from the enemy." Kagome blushes more, embarrassed about being personally attacked like that. "Villains will you any means necessary to get under your skin, remember that."
"I know," Kagome mutters. "I'll work on that."
"Good. Now you have people waiting to see you." Before Kagome could stand, however, she was hugged tightly by the crying Ochaco.
"Kagome you're back!" the brunette sobs out. "I was so worried we lost you again!" Kagome hugs her friend back as tears finally prick at her eyes. "Don't leave us like that. Promise me you won't do anything like that again!" Kagome nods against Ochaco's shoulder as she cries.
"I promise," she whispers out. Again she caused her friends pain, again made them worry about her, and again she made them suffer. "I'm so sorry, Ochaco."
"As long as you're here, Kagome," the brunette says as she gets up and helps Kagome to her feet.
"'Gome?" Izuku calls softly as if reality was too good to be true. "You're really...?" Kagome smiles brightly as she wipes her tears while Izuku pulls her into a hug. The others wait for their turns to greet her again while Katsuki wasn't reacting at all.
"Hey Bakubro, aren't you happy?" Kirishima nudges Katsuki.
"Of course I am, shitty hair," he responds with a smirk. "I knew about it last night."
"Bro, no way!" Kirishima gasps.
"So you were the first to know?" Mina asks excitedly. A smug nod from Katsuki was all they got in response. Mina cheers loudly before joining the others in greeting Kagome.
"So she doesn't actually hate you," Kirishima chuckles. "That's a relief."
"Shut it, shitty hair," Katsuki glares in response as he remembers that day. A phantom pain envelopes his left cheek as those heartbreaking words echo in his ears. Yet seeing her smile with tears streaming down her face reminded him of the night before. When he held her in his arms as she wept and her words danced in place of the other memory, filling his chest with hope.
As the sun's last rays disappear over the horizon, the students attend to their own activities as they anxiously wait for their exam. Kagome tries relaxing in her dorm as her memories swarm her mind. From Shippo in the U.S.J. to speaking with Kanna. Everything seemed surreal and still a bit foggy in some areas. Hours pass with Kagome being lost in her mind, seeming to forget about her upcoming responsibilities.
A buzz from her phone tears her from her thoughts as the screen lights up with a message. Kagome stares at it for a moment, debating on whether or not to answer.
Unknown: Are you still awake?
Who is this?
Unknown: Great. You're still up.
Unknown: Meet me here.
Unknown sent you a location
Kagome raises an eyebrow and decides to ignore it entirely as she sets her phone back on her nightstand faced down. As far as she was aware, she had everyone's numbers in her contacts already. Yet the continuous buzzing of her phone annoyed her enough to pick it back up after a moment.
Unknown: I'll be there in 10.
Unknown: If you leave now we should get there about the same time.
Unknown: Oh I see…
Unknown: You're ignoring me now.
I'm not going to meet up with someone I don't know.
Unknown: If I say who I'll have to get a new phone.
Unknown: This one was hard enough to learn as it is.
Unknown: Bring some candy! I have a bad sweet tooth…
Kagome's nerves calm down as Shippo flashes through her mind. A sigh passes her lips as she types out her reply.
Fine, I'll be there soon. But you owe me.
Unknown: ;)
Shaking her head with a laugh, Kagome slips out of her nightwear and into a black shirt and jeans. Something plain and not eyecatching so she could sneak away. Kagome pauses for a moment. She was going to sneak away to meet with a villain. But it was Shippo so there's no harm right? Kagome finishes up and slips on a hoodie she had stored away before silently heading downstairs. Everyone should be in bed asleep by now, seeing as it was well past midnight, yet the soft light coming from the common area told her otherwise. Kagome feels for the aura of the person before continuing on her way, feeling eyes on her back the entire time without a word. Toru wouldn't say anything about her leaving for a bit right? Looking back at her phone once out of sight of the dorms, Kagome pulls up the directions to the meeting place with Shippo as another message appears.
Unknown: Where are you?
Unknown: I don't want to look like a creep standing out here alone.
Unknown: Someone might think I'm a villain.
Kagome laughs softly as she heads towards the park nearby while typing her reply.
Oh no, we don't want anyone to think that!
Unknown: Right? Might end up caught before I can blink.
I might just run there, hope you don't mind me panting while we talk.
Unknown: Oh I won't, don't worry.
Unknown: Hurry up and come save me, hero.
Stopping mid-step, Kagome sighs softly. He actually wanted her to run to him. With a shrug, Kagome puts her phone away securely and sprints the rest of the way. Whatever it was, it must be important if he was calling her out to meet him so late at night, right? Shippo wouldn't normally do something like this unless it was important. To any bystanders, it looked as if Kagome was on a night run for extra training at the park.
As she nears the meeting area, she slows herself and looks up at the stars. While they would always be beautiful, they always looked best in Edo after a hard-fought battle. Another sigh passes her lips as she gets lost in thought about the twinkling dots above her. That is until a pair of arms pull her into the treeline and out of sight of any prying eyes. A gasp escapes her as her eyes are covered by the person's hands from behind. "Come on, this isn't funny," she whines as she struggles against them. "Let me go, Shippo."
"Try again, Princess," a voice that was too deep and raspy to be Shippo's breathes in her ear as her eyes widen under his hands.
"What do you want, Patchwork?"
