Supergirl Beyond crisis on earth x chapter 12 Battles lost and won
It had been a few weeks since the battle at the mansion and the world killers had not shown themselves since that day and to some it was concerning. Ruby had been staying with Alex, and Lena had been training with Kara at the DEO. Lena had been improving in her training sessions with Kara, but there were some that think that Kara was not giving everything to these sessions. Overgirl and surprisingly Diana were two of the major players who held this opinion. To Kiara Kara was pulling her punches for a being of Kara's power and strength she should be testing the full range of Lena's ability in the Iron Maiden suit. If Lena was going to jump in the deep end and fight the world killers she needed to fight at the highest level, and clearly Kara was not up to that challenge and it could get Lena killed as a result. As Diana and Kiara looked at the lovebirds' latest training session a plan hatched in the diabolical mind of Kiara Wagner. She turned to her girlfriend "I have an idea, but I need your help to do it" Diana looked at her girlfriend " what idea would that be?" Kiara smirks " I think it's time we take the gloves off and give Lena a real challenge, and Kara as well." Diana was expecting this, and surprisingly liked the idea and she had not been in a good fight in a while so she nodded her assent.
Elsewhere Kate Kane speeding down the streets of National City in her Aston Martin Vanquish to a whole in the wall dinner named Smitties. Kate had to be honest she didn't expect herself to be in a dump like this but she was looking for someone and rumor had it that person was working at Smitties. Kate had to be honest when she thought up of the idea for this team even though she thought it was the longest of long shots. She figured she had Kiara the whole way just because she and Kiara wanted to stir things up and make a statement. She was pretty confident that Ivy would jump in, and if Kiara, Ivy, and her jumped Diana would follow. The two question marks she had were Lena and Livewire. After the events of a few weeks ago and the big reveal of the Iron Maiden Kate though there was the best chance to get Lena on board off course the big problem was her relationship to Kara if she could get around that they had a major shot at their fifth member. Now their sixth member was going to require a lot more work. Leslie Willis was a disgraced former radio personality that Cat Grant scorned, and made an enemy of Supergirl as a result. Recently though Livewire helped Supergirl with the fort Rozz situation after Livewire was in hiding from Reign and her Reign of Terror in the city. After she recovered from her near fatal injury the DEO let Livewire leave, and hide into obscurity and let her live her life without keeping tabs on her. After almost an hour of driving to the National City suburbs she finally arrived at the diner. Kate walked into the diner and it looked as dingy on the inside as it looked on the outside. She went to the hostess at the counter. The young lady looked at Kate with a very disinterested look "can i help you" Kate nodded " yes is Leslie working today." the lady gave a nonchalant yes and directed her to the back. Kate steps through the back of the restaurant and walks into the back alley of the restaurant and starts to look around till she sees her target. Leslie Willis sitting on a crate with her head down. Kate walks towards her " well isn't this a sad sight Livewire one of supergirl's most formidable adversaries, and someone who had one of the most feared voices on radio sitting in the back alley of a rundown diner with her head down." Leslie looked up at the redheaded stranger " who the hell are you" Kate walked toward the platinum blonde." You don't know but I am someone who is going to make you an interesting offer you maybe interested in." Leslie scoffed, "whatever you're selling I am not interested in what you're selling so you can shove it." Kate smiled, Leslie Willis was exactly what she was expecting: hot headed and spunky, confirming that she would be a good fit in this collection of personalities. " A few months ago you helped Supergirls fight against Reign the world killer and you almost died in the process. That being said Supergirl convinced you to help when you really didn't have to and you risked your life for Supergirl when you didn't need to. To the outside observer it would look like you have a hero complex and you're not as selfish as people once thought." Leslie scoffed again " what do you know?" Kate sat next to Leslie " I know you're better than wasting away in this dump, I know that you lost your purpose Cat Grant is out of the way and you don't have this archnemesis rivalry with Supergirl. I also know that someone like you will fit right into this team I am putting together." Leslie turned to the redhead " if i didn't join team Supergirl what makes you think i am going to join your team?" Kate chuckled and looked at the girl " Because team supergirl are a bunch of boy scouts Supergirl among them, but they are also stuck in their self absorbed morality which breeds idiots like Guardian and Mon El that's not you. My group is a collection of misfits trying to find their way in a much different light than many of them envisioned for themselves a mere few months ago. There is me, a Kryptonian from another dimension, an Amazon out of time, a former villainess trying to do some good in the world you would fit right in. You don't have to give me an answer now, but think about it Leslie there is going to be a fight coming, and i have a feeling team supergirl is going to be in over their head, and we will see who moves in to save the day.
Back at the DEO the team was divided about Kiara's idea. Kiara stood in front of the room " What is everyone afraid of Kara and Lena vs me and Diana. I am tired of seeing Kara go softball on Lena. She went toe to toe with Reign, but what about the next fight we need to test her to push and that can't happen till me get her in a battle situation against enemies that don't pull their punches just because she is sleeping with teacher." Of course everyone had an opinion Jimmy and Winn thought Kara and Lena would win without question. Alex and Maggie wanted to see Kara and Lena put their money where their mouth is, and J'onn actually did not think it was a bad idea for this to happen, having people like Overgirl and Wonder Woman and the fighting experience they have would be good for Kara and Lena. After all the back and forth the decision was left with Kara and Lena. Kara was concerned at the Idea because Kiara and Diana are not push overs, but maybe that's what Lena needed. So if Lena was okay with it then so was Kara. Lena looked at the room seeing a mixture of concern and anticipation for this kind of heavyweight fight. However Lena kept playing it back in her head and how lucky she got fighting Reign and next time she may not be having this fight, maybe the best thing for her and Kara to do is to build some chemistry. In addition to that she would be lying if she said she was curious if Iron Maiden can go toe to toe with Overgirl and Wonder Woman. So lena looked up and "game on then"
Within minutes of the announcement all over the DEO people started to head to the danger room to see the fight. As well as started a betting pool on which pair would win. A majority of the DEO bet in favor of Kara and Lena because let's be honest who can stand a chance in beating a super and luthor. As Kiara and Diana looked at the betting poll results they smirked at how little faith people had in them but to Kiara's delight looking at this Diana was even more motivated now to win and judging by that it looks like everyone is in for a shock. Maggie came up to both Diana and Kiara " you two better win this." this caused the two woman to turn " See i am not stupid i know you two are going to win, and it looks like i am the only one who believes that. If people pay attention they would see that you two have more experience fighting than both Kara and Lena. You kicked Reign's ass twice after she kicked Kara's ass. I love Kara to death, but I like winning a ton of money. So I say again you better win." Maggie caused both women to smirk. Overgirl, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Iron Maiden walked into the danger room to start the simulation. The goal of the exercise was to fight and neutralize your opponent's first team to do so wins. J'onn and Alex start the simulation, and within a second the plain room turns into a perfect replica of downtown National City. Lena activates Iron Maiden Diana draws her sword and Overgirl activates her face mask. Without notice Kara and Overgirl speed off at each other and begin to fight in mid air and Diana jumps at Iron Maiden causing Lena to activate the Nano-shield taking the hit. Lena responds by sending a plasma bolt hitting Diana in the shield pushing her back. In the air Supergirl and Overgirl are unloading in a furry of shots, both of them using their heat beams neither conceding an inch. On the ground Diana was starting to get the advantage on Lena evading all the plasma blasts coming from Lena allowing her to get closer to her. Diana takes her lasso and strikes it, parrying Lena's next power blast and throwing her shield hitting Lena dead center in the chest causing significant damage. Diana then lashed Iron Maiden around the neck and threw her into a nearby building. This caused Kara to lose focus paying attention to Lena. Overgirl saw this and seized on the opportunity and flew at full speed and hit Kara in the chest with a powerful knee knocking her out of the sky leaving a crater in the street. Overgirl then took control as Kara was trying to get to her feet Kiara used a manhole taking Kara's feet from under her sending her parrowetting in the air. Then using her heat beam sending Kara flying. Overgirl then used her superspeed and flew in front of Kara's trajectory and put her hands together and slammed Kara into the building below them dropping her through every floor till she hit the basement hard. Kiara landed right in front of supergirl not moving what so ever clearly pleased she was able to prove she was the better of the two. She left the KO'd supergirl and went to see what was happening between Diana and Lena. Lena had managed to catch Diana off guard with the unabeam and was prepared to sue the nano missile and launched it at Diana. However Overgirl caught the missile " you forgot to pay attention to your surroundings" and threw the missile back at Lena catching and exploding sending Lena for a ride and effectively winning the fight for DIana and her. As the simulation ended everyone on the outside was shocked at the swiftness of Kara and Lena's defeat. Disturbing the silence was the loud cheers of Maggie Sawyer celebrating her big haul. Overgirl and Diana stepped out of the room and looked at J'onn and Alex " is that the best you got." Lena and Kara gingerly stepped out of the room Kiara smirked " i guess you two should get ready for the Adam Smith dinner this evening. Lena and Kara both groaned at the remainder of the dinner after they just got their ass kicked
Later that evening the National City business elite gathered in the ballroom of the Garland Grand hotel. It was the top business leader in National City in one room for the city's biggest charitable ventures and business opportunities are discussed. Kiara and Diana were among the first to arrive at the event like always they were one of the top attractions in the room. Kiara had to admit it still bothered her that the room still gawked at Diana, but just as long as they look and not touch because then it was game on. In addition it also pleased Kiara that it was her that had Diana on her shoulder. The two then spotted Lena and Kara walking into the ballroom and decided to have a little fun with the two women. Lena and Kara grabbed some champagne and talked among themselves " Well i don't know about you but i think DIana got the better Kryptonian. "This snide comment caused them both to turn " Lena clapped back "well i don't know there is something about not having a sociopathic or an antagonistic personality that makes a woman feel special and appreciated." Kara and Diana both started to laugh at the witty retort by Luthor, and the subsequent reaction from Kiara. As the four continue to talk especially about the events of earlier outside Kate Kane arrived in her Ferrari 458 Italia with her date. This was a special occasion for Kate as this is the first time that she was able to bring Ivy out with her in public. It was a struggle for Kate to finally convince Pamela to come with her to the gala so they can finally do something like any normal couple to dance to hold hands, to kiss. It was this that Kate and Ivy envied about Kiara and Diana that they were able to do all of this, and the best they were able to do was cuddle to a movie marathon on Diana's couch. For the most part Kate and Ivy were both nervous Ivy wanted this to go off flawlessly this being the first time that Ivy and Kate were out in public hoping that Ivy's past did not rear its head. She just wanted to enjoy a night with her girlfriend in the real world outside of their bubble. Concurrently Kate was going to take a major risk and reveal her secret identity to Lena tonight. Kate knew for the team she needed Lena Luthor and Iron Maiden, and the only way to broach the subject was to reveal herself. She still did not know what Livewire would do. Kate hoped that Lena would not tell Kara her secret identity but giving Lena the opportunity to join her team definitely gives her more options than being on team supergirl even if it is her girlfriends team. Ivy and Kate walked into the busy gala and saw all the corporate big wigs. Kate felt Ivy tense once they walked into the ballroom. Kate turned to her Pamela " we are going to get through this and have a good time" Pamela turned to Kate and smiled and tightened her grip on Kate's hand. The pair saw Kiara, Diana, Lena, Kara talking quite animatedly, and if Kate knew the players involved it was probably on which woman dated the better Kryptonian. It was time to make a good first impression so they walked towards the four. Lena noticed the pair walking towards them and started to frown. Lena's sudden posteur shift caused the other three to turn and see Kate and Pamela walking towards them. Kate was the first to speak " well well well if it isn't Lena Luthor." Kara could tell that Lena was talking a very aggressive tone. " well if it isn't the redheaded pain in my ass" The other four new there was history but I did not know what that is . Kate turned to Diana and Kiara and greeted them. This caused some shock in Lena " you three know each other" Diana turned to Lena " yes i have been doing business with Kate Kane getting art and antiques for her corporate office, and we became fast friends as a result. Kate and Kiara have also become the best of friends so you can say that yes." Lena was less than thrilled at this revelation. As the night dragged on the six began to talk amongst themselves . Diana and Kiara excused themselves to have a dance and Kara and Pamela went to go get drinks for themselves and their dates.
Now that they were alone Kate thought this was the time to breach the all important subject " So Lena I have a proposition for you and I know because of our past your asking yourself why you should listen to me." Lena almost burst into a fit of laughter " You have a lot of nerve after what you did last so tell me why should I listen to anything you say ever again." Kate smiled and what if i say i call you Iron Maiden" At the mention of her alter ego Lena's eyes widened " how do you know that " Lena i am going to tell you something and you can ask Kiara and Diana who will confirm it, but I am Batwoman. Diana, Kiara, and I have been working together these past few months now, and recently I have been working with Diana and Overgirl on a side project of sorts, and we three think you would be a good fit." Lena raised an eyebrow " now why would you say that" Kate looked at the Luthor " because I know the DEO has marginalized you, and i know you want to do more that's why you created the Iron Maiden after all and let's be honest you do better than those idiots Jimmy Olsen and Mon El who we both know have no potential. You Lena has potential, and I know that we have history and you don't like me but we have an opportunity here to do something good and we would be stronger having you in the group than not. In addition you will not be able to hit your stride being in the DEO" Lena was listening to Kate and she had to say that she was intrigued but she also knew the backlash it would cause between Lena and the DEO which in her estimation was still quite tenuous especially after building a mechanized battle suit in fact if it was not for Kara the DEO would probably want to confiscate it. That being said Lena was not sure if she could trust Kate Kane, and she was not sold on Overgirl despite her recent track record. Kate knew that Lena would be a hard sell, and didn't have the hubris to think that Lena would give an immediate yes given all the variables at play " Lena look you don't have to give an answer, but i know that soon enough there will be a fight, and Kara and the DEO will not be up to the task. This city needs a new type of hero and this will be the next evolution of a team that can even rival the justice league. So think about and don't let you prejudice for me cloud the situation or the decision." Lena looked at the redhead but before she could respond Kara and Pamela came back with the drinks. The rest of the night passed by relatively well, and the party started to wind down with everyone going their separate ways.
A few days after the party neither Lena nor Livewire had given any type of response. To say Kate was disappointed was an understatement. Kate was on the balcony when she heard Kiara coming up from behind " you shouldn't be this upset you had to know it was a big shot in the dark for Livewire and Lena to join. Maybe they just needed a push. I didn't jump into action to reign and threaten Diana's life and I risked anything, maybe Lena and Leslie needed a moment worth rising to. Look at Lena if she did not fight Reign maybe we never find out about Iron Maiden, and Livewire saved Kara from Reign. Some people just need that momentary inspiration and who knows with the current situation such a thing maybe around the corner. " Kate knew Kiara was right like gravity, maybe Lena and Livewire needed the right push even though that however did not mean that everything was set in stone.
The following day Kate and Ivy were at Kane Industries so Ivy can get the lay off the land, and get her settled into her new office as the new head of the Environmental and sustainability department. When Ivy saw her new office she smiled at Kate " what do you think?" Pamela kissed Kate and pulled " i love it" before Kate and Pamela could continue they heard a low emanating rumble in the distance like an explosion. Kate's assistant ran into the office and the DEO are fighting worldkillers in midtown. Kate could tell by the tone of Rachel's voice that it was not going well for the DEO. Kate turned to Pamela " you ready for your first outing as a superhero?" Pamela nodded. " Rachel cancel the rest of my appointments.
Kiara was in the penthouse watching TV Diana was going to the airport to fly out to meet a client. Kiara was upset because she wanted to go with Diana, but in the end they both agreed that if the worldkillers showed themselves it would be best if Kiara stayed behind to fight them. Kiara did not want to say this to Diana, but she was at her wits end with the DEO, and she had felt the rift growing over time many of them were still not accepting of her even though it was her that has kept the worldkillers at bay, and now instead of going out of town with the love of her life she is stuck here babysitting. She had to admit it made this whole idea of having their own team sound even better. Kiara was broken out of her revelry by an explosion in the distance then her cellphone started blowing up. When she looked what it said she smirked "its about time" At the airport Diana was getting ready to board her airplane when she says the breaking news report on the TV near the terminal. What she saw startled even her Reign, Purity, and Pestilence fighting Supergirl and the DEO and the worldkillers seemed to be winning. Diana picked up her bag and walked away from the terminal. At smitties diner Leslie is watching the news report about the fight in midtown like everyone else. Everyone was petrified that supergirl was losing the fight but in Leslie's mind was her conversation with Kate when she said that team supergirl was not going to be able to beat the worldkillers and here it was. Leslie took off her apron and left the diner without word to anyone. At L Corp Lena was finishing up some reports she had been putting off. Lena was trying to reach her assistant but with no response so Lena went to go see what was happening. When she stepped out of her office she sees her assistant and a few other employees transfixed on the TV screen seeing the news report of the fight in midtown. To Lena's horror she saw Kara and the DEO losing a fight to the worldkillers. Lena realized it might be time to let National City meet Iron Maiden and ran out of her office.
In Midtown the scene that was shocking the city the three worldkillers stood over the defeated team of supergirl and her team triumph all hope of the villains being defeated diminished into nothing. As Reign stood on Kara's chest with her eyes glowing ready to strike the final blow to the girl of steel " Well Supergirl now it ends. You and your allies will stand as a grave reminder to all sinners that no one escapes justice no one escapes judgement. You will be the reminder that all who stand in the way of me and my sisters from cleansing this world of sin will meet the same fate as you." Before Reign could continue she was interrupted " as much as I would like to see that happen to teach people a lesson you still have some unfinished business with me worldkillers." The three worldkillers looked to the sky and there floating above them was Overgirl who quickly landed in front of them causing the worldkillers to square up with her forgetting Kara and the others clearly threatened by the presence of Overgirl. Reign smirked " In the past you bested me and my sister when she was at her weakest now you are no match for the three of us at our full potential." Reign, Purity, and Pestilence prepared their heat beams and each fired a powerful blast at Overgirl. The three fired the combine attack at the unyielding woman. As the laser blast died down the three world killers were shocked to see standing in front of Overgirl with her shield raised to absorb the full brunt of the blast was Wonder Woman. Diana looked at the world killers " how about you three beat the two off us" before either of the world killers could answer " strike that how about three of us" and from the near roof top came Batwoman ready for her first fight with the worldkillers landing to Overgirls Right as Diana stood to Kiara's left. Again before the world killers could respond " How about four?" Out of nowhere Ivy descends standing on a leaf coming down next to batwoman. Reign looks at the four standing before her and is unamused " is this the best you offer two mortals, and amazon, and another kryptonian I would laugh if it was not so sad that this is this world's best chance to defeat us pathetic." Out of nowhere a plasma blast catches Reign sending her flying backwards for the intensity " well then how about 3 mortals, an Amazon, and a Kryptonian." Kate looked back " OH MY GOD" this caused the other three to look and to everyone's shock Iron Maiden landed beside them. Kate was over the moon Kiara had been right it took a moment like this and here is Lena Luthor showing off for the first time the Iron Maiden suit. Reign ued he super speed to get up in a rage " enough of this it does not matter how many you bring if you stand in the way of justice and protect sin then you shall be be dealt with accordingly." Then suddenly the lights around them started to behave erratically blinking and sparking uncontrollably " will you shut up with this holier than thou god crap" then suddenly out of one of the near by transformers came a bolt of electricity and stroke right next to Ivy and from the light materialized Livewire. Kate was over the moon. She got her team all six of them and they get to show off what they have against a powerful enemy. The world killers were ready to engage Diana quickly took charge of the team before they got caught off guard. Iron Maiden Livewire take purity, Batwoman Poison Ivy take pestilence. Overgirl and I will take on Reign. Then in the blink of an eye the most important fight in National City history began.
The world killers came at the six with prejudice. Overgirl flew right at Reign hitting her dead and the others scattered dividing the world killers into their groups. In the air overgirl and Reign threw punch after punch, kick after kick, beam after beam. While Reign was distracted with Overgirl she was blindsided from the side by a shot from Diana's shield knocking her out of the sky. While still trying to catch her barings, Reign was barely able to dodge Diana's swing with her sword but was not able to dodge Overgirls heat beam. A few feet away Iron Maiden and Livewire were fighting purity. Lena turned to Livewire " i want you to hit me with your best shot." Livewire was skeptical of the idea until she realized Lena's plan and saw the conduit port open up on the back of the suit. Livewire then charged up taking power from everything with an energy source and sent a massive bolt of electricity at Iron Maiden . As The bolt hit Lena her power reserves super charged and she fired a huge plasma bolt sending purity into a building collapsing it right on top of her. In the other match Batwoman was using her speed to evade pestilence while Ivy used her powers to bring the plants to life and send them to attack pestilence. As Pestilence tried to strike Kate her leg was grabbed by root from one of the plants opening her up for a direct strike from one of the trees sending her skidding on the pavement. The six were doing vastly better then team supergirl, and it looked like they were winning the fight. On the periphery the onlookers started to cheer this team on which made some people concerned as well. The worldkillers were on the ropes now the numbers game too much for even them to overcome. The three started to become sloppy in their desperation which then allowed the others to circle the wagons on the world killers trying to get the world killers to hit each other. The moment finally came pestilence was frantically striking at Batwoman who to her credit was able to avoid the barrage without taking any major hits when she realized that Purity was right behind her dealing with Iron Maiden when she had an idea. She motioned for Ivy to trap purity with a vine. Kate wanted to try and use their own powers against them to end this fight. As pestilence started to charge Batwoman Kate fell giving the appearance of her vulnerability. With Purity she tried to attack Livewire but was caught by the vine Ivy used to keep her in place. Purity was about to use her sonic scream at Livewire. Both pestilence and purity had committed to the attacks with Kate and Livewire were expecting and livewire surged into a near lightpost and Kate used her smoke screen to move out of the way of pestilence charged leaving both purity and pestilence in the direct path of their own attacks. Pestilence could not stop herself and went through the cloud of smoke and plunged her nails into purity's chest right as purity hit pestilence with the full brunt of her sonic scream. Pestilence started bleeding from her ears and the infection from pestilence started to take hold. In the air Overgirl had just kicked Reign in the chest sending her flying in the sky, and Overgirl then intercepted Reign in the air hitting her with a fierce punch sending her crashing into the ground leaving a massive crater in the ground. As Reign gingerly climbed out of the crater and saw what had befallen her sisters. Reign goes to their lifeless forms and for the first time ever everyone saw grief etched on Reign's face at the loss of her sisters. The team crowded around reign expecting a surrender at this point now that it is six on one. However as kneel next to her fallen sisters something started to happen and both purity and pestilence started to glow and suddenly the glow started to envelope Reign causing a feral scream from the lone remaining world killer, and before any of them could do anything about it reign released a sonic scream sending all of them back. To say everyone was shocked is an understatement. Somehow all the powers of the other two were transferred into Reign making her even more powerful. The team quickly scrambled as reign came at them. Overgirl, Livewire, and Iron Maiden all hit Reign with an attack sending Reign skidding. Reign was unfazed by the attack. The six unleashed everything they had but with all their effort and with Reign's new power she was able to fight them off. The unthinkable was happening: reign was winning a six on one fight. However the great equalizer was brought by the one person no one expected. Reign heard a young voice from behind her when she turned she saw none other than Ruby Arias. Ruby was brought to the seen by Maggie of all people in the hope that maybe Ruby can reason with Reign. As Ruby was talking with Reign it seemed to be working and Sam Arias was coming to the surface. Reign's presence was still to strong and she quickly retook control. Before Reign could kill Ruby Kiara hit Reign in the chest with a knee to the chest and then with a swift knockout punch. Everyone crowded around the know knocked out Reign. Alex got the power dampening cuffs and cuffed Reign. Everyone looked at each other. The long crisis of the worldkiller was finally over.
At the DEO Reign was taken to the cells for holding. The team was divided about what to do. On one hand they needed to deal with Reign because for all intensive purposes Sam was still in there so they really could not get rid of Sam and they had Rub to think about. The second major topic of discussion was the new team that has now formed. Jimmy and Mon El were incensed at this prospect of a group with 3 former villains, a vigilante that has no care for consequences, an amazon, and millionaire who happens to be a Luthor. Yet this group could very easily rival the justice league if it really wanted to. Kara for her part put a stop to it "they just finished fighting their hardest enemy after one year. I think it's time we just take some time to ourselves without the constant internal civil war. They helped us beat the world killer and if it was not for them we may all be dead. Lest you forget also my girlfriend is a part of this new team so unless you're calling Lena a threat I would stop before you say something you would regret. Let's look forward to the future and hopefully a good long period of peace that we can all enjoy. The problems that we have now will be here tomorrow and the day after its time we just enjoy ourselves.
