A.N. — This next pair is both in the top 200 mentions in the books, with the wife a few places ahead of the husband. Her trial in front of the Umbitch was yesterday (as were a lot of other canon events), so her drabble's up first.

246. Mary Cattermole

Mary didn't like Reginald's job at the Ministry of Magic. She saw it as the dead end it was; he felt he'd get promoted eventually. But even Reg had to admit a Muggle-Born Registration Commission was a step too far and stained credulity.

So it was that an incredulous, exacerbated Mary Cattermole was brought up on fishy charges for a "trial" in front of Commission head Dolores Umbridge. Reg was acting shifty and contrite in turns, obviously aware his wife had been right (as usual).

Well, his admitting that wasn't looking likely to get her accusations cleared, now was it?
