A.N. — I tackled this duo with a prevailing idea: their first week of school being the only time they showed any academic promise, then they opened their mouths and removed any doubt. Goyle's drabble was sorta on-target; this one deviated. I'd forgotten Crabbe was actually good at something in book 7.
249. Vincent Crabbe
Most people judged Vincent Crabble through Draco Malfoy. Crabbe thought that was rich; he'd seen more of Malfoy than he'd ever wanted to. His relationship with the pompous blonde had deteriorated as Hogwarts progressed.
The first few years weren't so bad — typical inter-House grudges and pranks, with Crabbe and co. usually coming off worse. But sometime between the Inquisitorial Squad falling apart and Malfoy's assignment from Voldemort dragging on, Vincent had had enough.
He flourished under the Carrows, bloodthirst stoked. When the battle came, Crabbe's Fiendfyre leapt at the hated Golden Trio. If it caught Draco, so much the better.
