A Blight Upon the Land
It had been a few months since the Phantasms reign of terror over the city, and things were just starting to get back to normal now that the serial killer had gone under ground. It was uncertain if the Phantasm would return, but Maggie wanted the police ready just in case and the DEO and the Sirens also wanted to be ready to fight the Phantasm if it showed its ominous face in National City again. Jack Napier had been relocated far from National City and would be under constant surveillance just to ensure he was protected. The big focus of the group was Maggie's political career. It had been a few days since Arthur Reeves announced his bid for Police Commissioner. In his speech he ruthlessly hit Maggie calling her the corporate commissioner having ties to big business, and saying she is soft of vigilantism blaming her for the Phantasm not being caught or not arresting Batwoman early on when the evidence pointed to her initially. Everyone wanted Maggie to run for one Arthur Reeves was first rate slime, and second even if she didn't want to admit it out loud Maggie loved being Police Commissioner, and the impact she had on the department and the community in just two years . Maggie was just not sure if she wanted to deal with the political bagage of the position. People slather all her achievements thinking that everything had a double motive or that she was pandering to groups for votes which anyone who knew Maggie knew that this claim was totally false. Maggie was no politician, and she wanted to keep it like that, and she was not going to take the time to memorize the metrics for all the political wheelings and dealing with running for office. If she ran again she would run the same type of campaign she did in the special election. She would go to the people that needed her the most, not the corporate donors that just wanted police protection to build their strip malls and fast food chains to gentrify areas people have been living in for generations. No one knew what Maggie would do honestly and the brunette was keeping those cards close to the chest. One thing was for sure if Maggie was going to make this decision to run again it would be on her own terms not anyone else's no matter how good their intentions are.
Lena and Kat were having a weekly lunch session at kane tower. Sinc the two CEO's decided to put their rivalry aside the two actually became good friends especially being that so few women actually no the struggle to be a powerful CEO in a male dominated world, and it's always good to have someone there who has a lot of those same scars to relate to and talk to. They both loved Kara and Pamela respectively but sometimes it would be nice if they understood the corporate jargon. So they relished having these moments these days, and both had been talking about a prototype generator they had been working on to start providing clean and renewable energy to National City and hopefully the world. However a new player to National City wanted to throw her cap into the ring with the two Queens of National City. Daniella Powers, CEO of Powers tech, had moved to National City. Kate and Lena were aware of the snow white haired woman's infamous reputation. She was on the naughty list of just about every major environmental organization for Powers Tech's horrible environmental practices destroying ecosystems with addition thought nothing was ever proven Powers was about as corrupt and ruthless as they come even giving Lex a run for his money and that says a lot for what she is willing to do to win. Now the white haired CEO was here in National City and wanted to go straight for the Queens. However Kate and Lena were miles ahead of Powers Tech. Kane industries and L Corp had their R & D departments working non-stop to fabricate the triskelion reactor. Both of the R&D departments had double what Powers Tech could muster on a good day. What concerned both of them was that with the time table that Daniella had given for its completion in order to be eligible for the city contract to power National City that the white haired CEO would cut corners and get people hurt or worse.
At Powers Tech Daniella Powers had walked into the R&D department." REESE WHERE ARE YOU!" At the beckoning of his name a scrawny looking man in a lab coat approached the CEO " yes Mrs Powers?" Daniella looked at the man with a scowl that looked like it could kill someone. The man coward away in fear " I want an update on the generator Reese we have weeks before we have to be operational to compete with the Kane and L Corp generator.'' The meek man looked like he was about to wet himself " Mrs Powers we are trying are best but what you ask it can't be done build a generator prototype that can power a whole city in the span of a few weeks. Kane industries and L Corp both had competing projects that had similarities that made them compatible for a merger like they did. Thereby increasing the output to power one city. We don't have that luxury or that financing and careful research. At this rate we are months away if not years if things don't go right. They have scale tested this already a home, a city street, a hospital, an a city block they have run all there test and have way more date then we can ever." Daniella looked at the man growing more and more angry at every syllable the man uttered " i told you i didn't want excuses this project is Powers Techs chance at greatness to compete with all those other companies like Wayne enterprises, Kane Industries, L Corp. All of these companies and their CEO wre well respected while the only thing that Powers tech was known for was raping the environment and scandals of various shapes and sizes. You're going to have this thing up and running and don't care what you have to do. I will not let those two adolescent school girls beat me. Do I make myself clear Reese and if you can't I promise you when I am done with you I will have wiped your existence off the face of this earth. No one will know or remember Coleman Reese ever again." Reese gulped and pressed his luck " Mrs Powers what you ask is impossible it would take us sabotaging the Kane and Luthor project to even have a shot at this and even then the chances of success are still long odds." Daniella heard what Reese had said and the thought of sabotaging Kane and Luthor was an intriguing notion to be sure, one that she was already considering, but it could not be linked to her or Powers Tech to be sure because she would lose the company. Daniella knows that if this project fails she loses the one thing she loves most in this world, her company, and she will not let that happen no matter the cost. As she left the lab and made her way to her top floor office, and looked upon this city. She hated this city, but considering back in Gotham Bruce Wayne had all but run her out of time she believed it was best to move across the country, but she knew that Kate Kane and Lena Luthor would be an even greater challenge than Bruce Wayne. She went to her desk, and pulled a secret phone out of a secret compartment, and dialed the only number on the phone and waited till the line picked up. Daniella smiled at the voice " hey it's been a long time. I was wondering if old time sakes can get to National City. I have a job that could use someone of your unique talents."
A few days later Daniella was at a private airport just north of National City awaiting her guest. The plane had landed and off came a white haired man in trench coat with a build unmistakably of a military background and stepped in front of the CEO " I must admit after all these years I was surprised by your call Danielle." The woman smirked, " thats I have not been in the situation where I need the services of the great Paul McDaggett, but clearly a situation has arisen and I need you and your men." The man had a steely look on his face not giving anything away " Well you were always my favorite client never standing in the way like some of these other fools that didn't have the stomach. You always did understand the line between war and big business can and always does get a little blurry." Both smirked " well Paul you were always an artist, and who am i to stand in the way of art. However I am staring at the abyss. My company is at stake these weak board members don't see all that i have sacrificed for this country, and the lengths i have gone to keep Powers Tech strong, but now with all this PC garbage and cancel culture now everyone looks down on me and my company for doing business the way i want and have done for years. The board hates the bad press and has threatened to remove me from my company, and that is not something I can allow." McDaggett looked at her " What would you like me to do?" Daniella looked at the man square in the face " I need your best men to help me collect the equipment I need to help build my machine to compete with Kate Kane and Lena Luthor, and beat those to smug harpies." McDaggett listened intently, " Well Mrs Powers, I think we can come to some type of arrangement." Both then made their way to the car ready to broker this unholy alliance putting Kane industries and L Corp in their cross hairs.
Over the next few days a string of robberies had been happening across the city. Maggie had the police investigating trying to find out why. Kate had been on the case as well, finding somewhat of a connection for the robberies. Lena arrived at Kate's mansion after being asked by Kate for something urgent. Lena had made her way to the cave and saw Kate at the super computer and stepped next to her " so your message said it was urgent what's up?" Kate looked at Lena " I have found a pattern to the robberies and I think it involves both of us." Lena was confused and prompted Kate to continue " I have been trying to find a pattern to the robberies with the information that Maggie had given me. A lot of the parts that have been stolen can be used to create a power generator comparable to ours" this caught Lena's attention " to sabotage or build one of their own?" Kate shook her head not really knowing the answer to that, but what she did know is that certain of the parts for the generator are unique to only L Corp and Kane Industries and knew that they would be targets for robberies. Lena understood exactly what Kate was getting. Kate had already alerted Maggie of the information to get the police in motion to hopefully catch the thieves in the act.
Maggie had both facilities housing the parts to the generator, but also as a precautionary measure they also had the generator itself under lock and key just in case sabotage was a possibility. The news at police headquarters was the Police commissioner race was getting more and more crowded. In the days since Reeve announced his campaign two other candidates announced their campaigns for police commissioner. The first was former District Attorney Robert Garcetti, and the second was Under sheriff Jerry London of the National City Sheriff's department taking the field of candidates to three. Maggie really hated all the office gossip surrounding her decision about whether or not to run for Police commissioner. Maggie was growing tired of it because now it seems everyone had an opinion on her decision. Her office got non-stop phone calls from reporters, the mayor's office would call to try and push Maggie to endorse Reeves which was never going to happen, and even individuals in the office or on the beat would give her encouragement and occasionally tell her not to run. It had become the biggest constant and now with the string of robberies she was under even more scurtiny after the Phantasm's reign of terror. It did bother Maggie that on her watch these last few months had been pretty hard, but honestly she was glad it was her in command because someone like Arthur Reeves who never wore a badge in his life would have made a mess of things and would obviously had a very poor relationship with the DEO and the Sirens which was to no one's benefit least of all the people of National City. Maggie took Kate's evidence and set up security details around the facilities in question as well as around the L Corp and Kane Industries corporate headquarters because as a security measure Kate and Lena had agreed to keep the respective pieces of the generator separate at the respective locations. Kara and Alex were throwing a party at Kara's apartment. Kara, Lena, Alex, Sam, J'onn, Leslie, Diana , Kiara, Ruby, and Maggie were all in attendance at the Party. Kate had decided to not go to the party because of her increased obsession with the string of robberies. The group was talking among themselves. It had been a long time since they could all be together when the city was not in some type of peril. Alex was talking with Maggie. It had been so long since the two had talked one on one since they broke up. It was amicable and both still cared for each other, but Maggie knew that the relationship between Alex and Sam was everything that Alex had wanted and more everything that Maggie could not give the older Danvers. For Alex's part she knew it was the right decision for her and Maggie to end things. Of course it was hard at the time and it hurt more than anything but seeing what Maggie had done with her professional career she knew that over time Maggie would resent her for stopping her and she knew at the end of the day Maggie was married to her work. However, knowing this Alex wanted to talk with the brunette about her reluctance to jump into the Police Commissioner field. Alex knows Maggie loves the job more than she thought she would changing the department and helping the community in a way that none of her predecessors ever did or would " So Mags what's going on?" The Brunette knew what Alex was referring to. She had hoped to avoid the conversation, but she knew it was almost inevitable that someone would bring it up even if it was in a tongue and cheek way or like Alex did. The older Danvers knew her pretty well i mean they were almost married, and she knew that she couldn't bullshit her way out of this one like she would with everyone else except for J'onn who could just as easy read her mind " I don't know Alex i love the job all the changes in the department ushering in a new wave of female police officers, changing a lot of the draconian traditions and practices that people like Loeb championed for decades, Actually making a legitimate difference in the community. We had across the board mejor reductions in major crimes like drugs, murder, and we essentially one the war on organized crime crippling most of the organizations and running out many of the others." Alex listened intently " so what is it Maggie you know maybe Jerry London may follow you lead on some of your progressive policies, but do you really think that people like Arthur Reeves and Robert garcetti would. The department would get plunged back into the dark ages, and everything you fought for everything you accomplished would be undone. The Police being the hatchet man of people like the mayor or rich land developers using the police to clear neighborhoods like Cadillac heights to build high rise apartment buildings in exchange for campaign contributions and influence. You saved the homes of so many people stopping that even with all the pressure that city hall was putting on you. That the Maggie Sawyer that I know is this one that is fading away into the shadows letting idiots hack away at her legacy is a stranger to me." Maggie looked downcast at Alex's comments. Honestly Alex was right the Job had changed her to an extent. " Being on this side of the job has changed me so much. You know at the beginning of this I vowed I would never play politics, and that I would run an independent department whose only focus is to protect and serve. With all the success we have had since I took over there are still people that try and undermine me because I don't play ball politically. Reeves and Garcetti hack away at everything because they don't think a woman can run one of the biggest police departments in the country calling week on crime even though we crushed the mob in National City. The Mayor wants me out because I refuse to be the hatchet man for his rich developer friends that want to pillage and plunder poor neighborhoods in the city to put up expensive real estate. Even inside the police officers union people despise my more progressive policies and want the status quo to stay the same. I am fighting so many battlefronts. I am tired, Alex. Honestly I ask myself what's the point of running again if people are going to lie and distort my agenda and then the press runs with the stories, then even people who have benefited from what we have done turn against you." Alex understood the world of politics was never Maggie's forte or strength, and that would always be a major problem for the brunette Mags if you don't run, you let them win. You have fought tooth and nail for everything in man's world. Your and gay and a woman you had to fight harder and work harder then any man had to for your promotions or to just prove that you belong. You have strived to make it so that does not happen to anyone else. You wanted to protect everyone who didn't have the means to it. That's why you ran in the special election not because you wanted to be a politician, but because you wanted to make a difference in the community, and show that a woman can do the job better than any man ever could. You let people like Arthur Reeves win then everything you fought for was for nothing and everything you did as police commissioner would be for nothing also." Maggie understood what Alex was saying and its those sentiments that have stopped her thus far from saying she is not running. Alex and MAggie continued to talk about Maggie's political future.
On the other side of the room the conversation had surprisingly also turned to a political sort. Sam, Lena, Pamela, Diana, and Kiara were also having a conversation. Pamela chimed in " Sam why don't you run for office then?" the comment by the red head was met with some shock till Sam responded " me a politician your joking Pam." the red shuck her head saying no " why not you're not a politician that's always a plus to some people who think the government does not work. Maggie did it when she ran for Police Commissioner and look at all the good that she has done since she took over. If i am right your location is located in Arthur Reeves district so that's a rare open seat that a newcomer would have no shot to win. His Chief of staff is not exactly the best candidate and looks very beatable. If you want to make a change that means something, having a seat on the city council would help with that. Plus you have all that money from when Lean bought your company so you can self finance your campaign and avoid special interest groups." the group was stunned at just how much information Pamela had on the matter." Diana chimed in " Ivy if you have all this information why don't you run for office in the city." Ivy smirked " I have thought about it, actually me and Kate live in a different district, but the incumbent is a fossil who has been on the city council since the dark ages. However the specter of my former life as a villain will be a major problem to overcome." Pamela looked a little sad at the mention. The group understood many people still judge Ivy for the sins of her past despite all the good that the former plant villainess had done with Kane Industries. Sam honestly was considering the green skinned woman's comments; it's something she has never considered ever getting involved in politics and a lot of what Pamela said is true, and there was no one on the city council that focuses on education as a main issue. Ruby was her world and she wanted to make sure that she and other children had an effective education that will prepare them for the future. Maybe with Reeves running against Maggie this does give her a shot, and Maggie did reform the NCPD. Maybe she could do the same for the schools of National City. She had to think about it a lot because it would be a big change running a campaign especially when she has to care for Ruby so this decision would have to be made very carefully. Suddenly the party was interrupted When Maggie got a phone call, and everyone in the room got a page. Maggie answered and instantly got the news that the Kane Industries facility was being attacked by the robbers who had overpowered the police already. They mobilized to get there as soon as they could.
At the Kane industry facility the police protection had been overwhelmed by the group of four men with advanced technology. The men broke into the facility and made their way to the vault. The men used a wrist mounted weapon to cut through the vault door till it fell from its hinges. The group of robbers entered the vault and found what they were looking for: a circuit grid designed to take extreme strain from a strong device. The men got the circuit and went to leave before more cops showed up or worse the superhero squad. As the four ran out toward the stopped dead in their tracks. Standing right in front of them in the shadows was the dark silhouette of Batwoman standing before them. The four thieves readied for battle, and Batwoman threw a Batarang at the thieves. One of the thieves used the wrist weapon to destroy the batarang, and then the four started firing shots at Batwoman. The men were good but Batwoman was even better, and she avoided all the shots the men fired, and used her grappling hook to swing her around to avoid another barrage of shots. In the air Kate used her smoke grenades to envelope and disorient the four criminals. Kate then angled her way to swing right into the cloud of smoke and strook one of the robbers, sending him flying across the room into the wall knocking him out. The men fired a ferrel shot hitting the beam that Kate's grappling hook was connected to started to fall and Kate fell rolling on the ground to avoid injury. The other three robbers went to retreat and escape, but before she could follow them she saw that the roof was starting to fall with the beam not there to support it. The debris was falling right on top of the unconscious robber. As much as Kate wanted to stop the other three from getting away with the part she needed to save the guy and see if she can get some information to see who is doing it. She ran and grabbed the pushing him out of the way and avoided the falling pieces of roof right as they hit the ground. As everything was over and knowing that the robbers had more than likely escaped she went to remove the wrist weapon from the robbers wrist, and then cuffed him. The man started to regain consciousness. Kate heard movement walking in and saw that the cavalry had arrived. Alex, Kara, Lena, Wonder Woman, Overgirl, Livewire, and Poison Ivy had arrived servaling the carnage around and saw Kate with one of the robbers. Kate was annoyed by all the special tech and superpowers of the group and they still showed up late to help her stop the robbers ending this right now. Instead they got away with the piece of tech, but the only good thing is she caught this one. Ivy got to her first and hugged her desperately especially after seeing all the damage outside and all the damage inside knowing that there was a real chance Kate could have been hurt. Kate returned the hug knowing that Pam was just scared, especially after seeing the crime. Alex then interrupted the moment " What happened her kate?" Kate left Pamela's embrace " I was in the batplane patrolling waiting to see if the robbers would make a move on any of the locations when I got the dispatch call that the officers her were getting assaulted by a group with heavy advanced weapons. When i arrived the police were neutralized outside, and moved to confront the group of thieves here, and we got into a fight and i managed to take this one out, but the others escaped as they tried to save this one from the falling roof. He looks like he is starting to regain consciousness." The group stepped toward the dazied man. The man looked up and almost shit his pants when he saw that in front of him was supergirl and the sirens. Kate then begins to interrogate the robber " who are you working for and why are you and your crew stealing these parts?" the man looked at the red head and started talking in a foreign language " Vi ne povas Kompreni kion mi diras Kaj ec se vi povus mi ne dirus al vi" the group looked at each other not knowing what the man just said or what language he was speaking in. Alex chimed in " anyone knows what language he is speaking in. Maybe we should take him to the DEO or the police station to see if we can get a translator." Kate stepped forward again and leaned forward menacingly " no need Mi povas Kaj vi diros al mi cion, kion mi bezonas scii'' Kate just stunned the group by the fact that she knows the language, and the man for his part probably wet himself at how dark and menacing Kate was right now.
Kate made the man sing like a canary before letting Maggie take him into custody. The man spoke in Esperanto, a language only used in select parts around the world. He and his partners use it because so few people speak the language that it's easy for them to keep it a secret. They didn't figure to have someone like Kate Kane, linguist extraordinaire who speaks 12 different languages half of them are obscure languages like esperanto. Kate was also able to figure out that the man and his team worked for a group of mercenaries lead by one Paul McDaggett. McDaggett was a hired gun who gained infamous notoriety for his brutal and immoral methods making him the go to for many people who need dirty jobs done. He usually worked in South America, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia, but rumor has it that he did work for corporate entities in the states like for one Roland Daggett back in Gotham, but that was years ago because of the spinelessness of many of the American clients. It looked like the group of four was working for his syndicate. The question on everyone's mind was who hired Mcdaggett and his mercenaries. He had not done anything in the United States in years. Mcdaggett was not an easy man to catch despite his methods no one could ever catch him let alone get anything substantial to stick him with. Kate had been running McDaggett to ground, and made the breakthrough discovery, and called the team together. Everyone was assembled in the Batcave " so after running on the evidence and running down McDagget's past clients in the States she discovered a roamer that McDaggett in his early years took some jobs from a certain up and coming CEO named Daniella Powers.' This caused Lena to perk up knowing where Kate was going with this " rumor has it that she helped him start his career in the mercenary business, and without her help he does not become the feared mercenary leader he is today." Lena then chimes in " So you're saying that Daniella called in a blast from her past to help her steal the parts to build her own generator, and to try and sabotage ours. Then with her bad press and the scrutiny she was under she needed someone she could trust who would not be afraid to go the distance, and not get caught." the group understood what the angle was, but there was no information to tie Powers to the crime one of the reasons why she would hire someone like McDaggett, and even there past was circumstantial at best and really were just whispers in the wind nothing concrete to get Maggie to march the department into Powers Tech headquarters. They needed to catch them in the act or at least put some heat on Daniella Powers. Kate had an idea and though everyone didn't agree with it Kate's methods have been yielding more results than anything else especially after the Phantasm. So everyone knew that it was going to be something hands on and showboating.
It was the dead of night Daniella Powers was lying asleep in her penthouse master bedroom. Batwoman crashed into the balcony door startling Daniella awake. Batwoman walked towards the snow white haired woman almost like a predator stalking towards its prey. Batwoman leaned into the other woman " I know you hired the robbers stealing all that technology, maybe to sabotage the Kane and Luthor project or to get your project to compete with it. We know that you had past dealings with the leader of this syndicate and we will tie you to this, and we will take you and your mercenary friend down." As Batwoman continued one of Daniella's bodyguards creeped up on them thinking he had the element of surprise and being silent as death itself. However before the man could strike the red head batwoman swung around unleashing a power swing kick hitting the man dead in the jaw sending him twirling in the air then to the ground unconscious. Batwoman motioned to the balcony were she entered as more guards started to try and force their way into the room. Before she left she turned one last time to Daniella " we will be in touch" the guards burst through the door but by the time they got in it was just a disturbed Daniella who in quick fashion told the men to get out. Daniella reached for a private cell phone she had and dialed a number " we need to talk the Bat just gave me a visit."
Kate lay in the shadows across from Daniella Powers penthouse spying on her after her little visit, and like she suspected she immediately dialed someone presumably McDaggett. So Kate was right Daniella was the McDaggett's benefactor for the robberies, and Powers was using them to more than likely sabotage them. Now that Kate knew for sure of the connection they needed to catch them in the act and now that the game was one they just needed to intercept this meeting now. A few days later at a Powers Tech warehouse that Daniella used to keep some of her lets just say less than pleasant products like chemical weapons she designed but never found any customers. She called it Blight because once released the chemical would kill everything including humans, and the only cure would be a concentrated saturation of radiation. The chemical was genius; it would attack all organisms at the cellular level. Daniella told McDaggett to meet her here to discuss their rodent problem, and the possibility that the police, DEO, and the Sirens could be baring down upon them. Daniella arrived at the warehouse with her armed guards in tow, and shortly after McDaggett had arrived with a large squad of his people in tow. Daniella chuckled at the army McDaggett had brought " you look like you're going to fight a war Paul" McDaggett looked at her in his usual steely manner " after your call we can't take any precautions so i bought a group of my best men."
Unbeknownst to them Batwoman the Sirens and the DEO had been set up around the meeting location. So they had a birds eye view of all the enemy forces. They just needed to catch them in the act and then take them down. Inside the facility " Well McDaggett we have a problem and we need to handle that problem. I am so close to achieving success here, and I will not get stopped at the goal line because someone could not keep there mouth shut." McDaggett was upset at the implication, but in this case it was one of his men that had confessed the plot. As a result now the Batwoman and lord knows how many of her heroic cohorts are onto them. However before McDaggett could respond he got a message from his head set. Someone like Paul McDaggett does not get to be as elusive as he is without taking every precaution in the book. One of those precautions was a micro drone very small and almost impossible to detect by the naked eye giving him a huge advantage from being ambushed by sneak attacks. McDaggett had just been informed of the enemy units on the perimeter of the facility. Daniella saw the look on McDaggetts face and knew that something was wrong. McDaggett looks at Daniella and mouths that they were compromised, and that things are going to get complicated. Kate noticed something was off and that the demeanors of everyone changed. Kate radioed to everyone " I think we are made" they had lost the element of surprise and this was going to be the best chance to stop them. Kate, Diana, and Kiara being the most strategically minded people in the group wanted to stand down not wanting to invite a massacre. However Alex wanted to strike now knowing they had the numbers and of course the strength advantage on them. So Alex wanted to throw caution to the wind on this one and order both DEO teams to move in against the recommendation of Kate, Diana, and Kiara. Kate was cursing the world right now for Alex being so careless, but they two went into action to try and put this down quickly. Inside the building McDaggett ordered his men to take up battle positions, and Daniella told her guards to do the same. She told McDaggett to grab some of the equipment around, much of it was experimental, but still packed a powerful punch. Within a few minutes the DEO teams breached the building but were immediately met with heavy fire. McDaggetts men were using the prototype rail guns that Powers Tech created for the government. The DEO teams were cornered by McDaggett's men and the advanced weapons. A group of DEO agents had been cleaved from the pack and were about to get slaughtered. Before the certain death blows Diana dropped from the ceiling and used her shield to block the attacks. Before the mercenaries knew what was happening Overgirl came through the hole that Diana left and used her Heat ray to melt the guns and with her super speed quickly dispatched the mercenaries. Daniella quickly saw the situation turn away from them. It didn't matter that McDaggetts men were the best in the world or that they had better weapons they could not find the combine strength, of two kryptonian, a God, a Mechanized Battle suit, a former plant villainess, a former Electrical villainess, and the crimson knight herself. She saw one way to get out of this the Blight chemical. She could release it, and get rid of a bunch of DEO agents and maybe some of the sirens if she was lucky. She made her way to the console for the chemical release, and began the process to release the chemical. She motioned to McDaggett who was fighting with his men to get out of the way with as many of his men as possible. McDaggett understood what she was doing. They tried to draw the DEO and the sirens towards the direct path of the chemical. Daniella saw her chance and released the chemicals. The green fog left the vents and drifted towards the group. Kiara realized the green cloud moving towards the group. A few of McDaggett's men got caught in the fog and instantly were overcome by the chemical. Kiara can see that they were brought to their new home and that their skin had formed black spotted marks across their body. Kiara knew instantly it was a chemical agent and then she used her super breath and blew the fog right back. Daniella's eyes went wide and Kiara's move blew the fog right back at her. Before she knew it the fog was on her and there was nothing she could do. Daniella was over come she could feel the chemical in her system she saw a retreating Mcdaggett with the remainder of his men, and reached out but before she could say anything she saw that her skin had started to form the black marks she screamed " MCDAGGETT" causing the silver haired man to turn around and saw the woman crawling out of the cloud. McDaggett debated the move for a minute and then went to grab the woman. After grabbing her they got into the truck and hauled ass out of there. Power's looked in bad shape, but was lucky to be alive considering what the chemical was designed to do. The only thing McDaggett could do was get her to Powers tech for the radiation bath that would neutralize the chemical.
It had been a few weeks since the fight at the Powers tech facility. Since then they could never get close to pinning Powers to the robberies. McDaggett had joined Powers tech as its head of security off course under a different name. Daniella was dealt a major blow when the city decided to give the power contract to Kate and Lena's generator instead of the Power's tech model. Since her plan to sabotage the generator had failed. The only reason she had not lost the company is because she had Mcdaggett threaten all the board members and their families to keep her in power and from there she forced them all out buying back their shares taking control of her company like it always should have been. She did vow revenge on the DEO and the Sirens, but especially Overgirl for nearly killing her with the Blight chemical. She was on her way to the Latverian embassy. Apparently the Latverian government wanted to make an exclusive weapons deal with Power's Tech and wanted to meet with Daniella to discuss it.
Daniella arrived at the embassy and was taken to an ornate dining room. After a few minutes the doors on the other side of the room opened and in came a dark cloaked woman " Ah Miss Powers i have been waiting for the day when we could finally meet. I am Victoria Von Doom the Supreme leader of Latveria." Daniella knew who she was. Victoria Von Doom is legendary in the world whether you liked her or not. However Daniella wanted to get to business " I am told that your government wants to make a contract with my company" Victoria smirked that the snow white haired woman wanted to get straight to business and motioned for her to sit down opposite her. " yes that's what we said but i that was just to get you here Miss Powers you and i have more important business to discuss." this puzzled Daniella " if it's not about a weapons contract then what business do we have to discuss?" Victoria leaned forward " I understand that the Sirens ruined your grand scheme to sabotage the Kane/Luthor generator that now powers National City, almost costing you your company. I understand because of a certain Overgirl you almost lost your life in the process." Daniella looked sternly at the other woman " you're remarkably well informed in my affairs Miss Von Doom for us having never met before." Victoria smirked, " It's my business to know who I am getting involved with." Daniella raised an eyebrow " What exactly will we be getting involved in?" Victoria smirked " I am putting together a team to fight against the Sirens. Like minded individuals who have a bone to pick with the sirens." Before Victoria could continue a cloud rolled into the room " come now Victoria this is the person you were telling me was going to be the third member of the team. She looks like she could barely hurt a fly." Daniella turned to the cloud and saw the Phantasm emerge from the cloud. Victoria got up " Daniella as you know this is the Phantasm she to had her plot for revenge stopped by The Sirens just like me and just like you she and i partnered together to fight them and defeat them, and thought Daniella Powers may not be what we are looking for your alter ego is exactly what we are looking for." Daniella looked between the two thinking about this proposition " it's an interesting proposition you pose and you have a deal." Before Victoria or Andrea could say anything Daniella's eyes changed from their normal color and melted away revealing solid green and the rest of skin started to break apart revealing more green " the accident at the facility left my DNA systemically damaged and on death's doorstep. Fortunately for me I was able to get the cure, but unfortunately the cure was a bath of radiation. With the systemic damage to my DNA the radiation fused with my DNA. So if we are going to work together, call me Blight." Daniella started to laugh maniacally followed shortly by Victoria and Andrea.
On the other side of town a much different decision had been made. Since the events at the Powers tech facility, and the taking down of the robbery ring the public outcry for Maggie to run for reelection had been greater than ever. The field of candidates had grown bigger; a crime advocate named Dana Worthington had joined the race, and ADA Carol Riley had also joined the race, though it was still a race between Reeves, London, and Garcetti. However Maggie had come to a major decision. After thinking about it and seeing the big outcry from the community for her to run for office she decided who she was to not give the people what they wanted, and she was not going to let someone like Arthur Reeves ruin everything that she was at fault for since she took over. It was a small ceremony with only a few reporters and supporters. Alex and the others were there for her as well, encouraging her and standing by her. Also Sam had decided on the encouragement of Alex and Ruby to run for City Counsel only if Pamela agreed to run her campaign. Things were not certain at this point but they could all agree that this next chapter was going to be an interesting one.
