Blanket For Two
by the Legendary Armor
It was really, really cold now.
They had just won victory at Tor Garen, but the winter in Daein had more than a few of the army grumbling. It was agreed that the mandatory sharing of tents was turning out to be a good idea, because more and more people were sharing bedrolls—if not for intimate reasons, to preserve the hope that they wouldn't wake up looking like some caveman frozen in ice.
And so, after another evening of marching, Oscar hurried back to the tent he shared with Kieran. It was no surprise that they shared one—nobody else wanted to be around the overzealous axe knight any longer than they had to, and he always followed Oscar around anyway. In Ike's words, "We might as well save him the trouble."
So it was that the squinty lance knight stumbled through the tent flap, quickly zipping it back up to preserve what little warmth was inside. What he saw really didn't take him by too much surprise, but it certainly did amuse him.
Kieran had shoved his bedroll inside Oscar's, effectively doubling it, and making it a warm haven in the middle of this damned cold. The axe knight poked his head above the heavy mass of fabric to watch Oscar's reaction.
"Ha! I've outdone you again with a brilliant plan!" the brunette proclaimed.
"I can see that," he replied easily. He resisted the sudden urge to smile as he walked up to Kieran, face full of seriousness. "Make some room, then." He quickly stripped off his armor and boots, laying it out in a pile beside Kieran's, and slipped in beside the muscular man.
Of course, being that the bedrolls were built for one person to have comfortable room in, it squeezed to have two full-grown men sharing it. This gave Oscar a great excuse to press himself closer to Kieran, who immediately blushed. "What are you doing?" he asked loudly. "I know you're jealous of my glorious physique, rival, but do you plan to take advantage of me? Ha! Vile wishes! I realize it is a great letdown to your squinty cowardice, but it is I who would take advantage of you!"
"Is that so?" Oscar murmured in Kieran's ear. His warm breath increased the flush on Kieran's cheeks exponentially. "Certainly I couldn't resist."
"Y-you… It… It's good you realize that! You won't have time to play any of your sneaky, squinty tricks on me! After all, I am—"
"Very warm. It's a shame you didn't get this idea sooner." Something in Oscar's voice hinted that maybe he'd been thinking of trying it for a while now.
"Ha! Be glad my great intelligence is yours to behold!"
"Mm." Oscar breathed in deeply, relaxing against Kieran's body. Drowsiness overtook him as the warmth between them increased, and it began to effect the axe knight as well.
No more words were spoken. Oscar wrapped an arm around Kieran's chest, and the axe knight tangled his legs comfortably into Oscar's.
They had never slept so well in their entire lives… and they'd spend every night thereafter like that, whether it was really that cold or not.
